I have never, ever responded to any of these "side effects" websites before! As a healthy person who very rarely requires medication, I had to find something on the web that would "explain" my suspected side effects for the Levaquin I've been taking for the last three days. This was prescribed for a UTI. The "new" side effect (that I didn't see addressed anywhere here) was what I can only describe as "asthma-like," to include wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. Anyone else with this symptom? I was also overcome with a great sense of futility that just scared me. I am normally a positive, "the-sun'll-come-up-tomorrow" type person, but this just knocked me for a loop!

After taking it for a month, and suffering this relentless coughing, I won't take it anymore!
I have lost sleep, had people turn away from me, because of the persistent coughing.
I have just about decided to take my changes with a natural treatment for HBP. It seems every thing my DR. prescribes, has awful side effects.

After a bout of bronchitis, I continued to experience respiratory difficulties. I scheduled an appointment with my allergy physician, and due to continued wheezing in my lungs and persistent coughing, she prescribed Levaquin, 750 MG, one time daily. I read the possible side affects and did not realize the full array of possible complications associated with administration of this medication. After one dosage, I began experiencing insomnia, extreme aching and swelling of my ankles and knees, extreme hot flashes/cold chills. Yesterday, I fell when geting out of bed due to the tightness and swelling of my legs. I have slept only a few hours during the past seven days. After reading the documentation on the website of the complications reported by over 1200 individuals, I have discontinued taking the medication with only one pill left. I am extremely concerned about the possible long term damage to my body. I have a daughter with disabilities who requires my care and assistance.

Reading the experiences of others has a way of telling us we're in the same boat. After having read several of the posts here, I understand SO clearly what has been going on with me. I had an angioplasty and a stent installed almost two years ago, and the doc put me on Lisinopril, Atenolol and a couple of cholesterol-lowering drugs (Niaspan and Lipitor have their issues too).
After several months, I began to experience the most horrific series of "colds" I've ever had. I sing in a band, and I'd begun to wonder if I was losing my voice (and my mind). Constant globs of mucus in the throat, and persistent coughing, especially at night, and I went through a box of facial tissue every few days.
About six months ago, I got a call from the doc saying that I should be taking half the dosage in the AM and half in the PM (he didn't offer any explanation as to why I wasn't told this at first). I don't know how it works, but the sore throat, coughing and overproduction of mucus has passed. I should mention also that I began taking Airborne effervescent health formula every time the symptoms began to return (even slightly) and this has helped tremendously.
Still, the double whammy of Atenolol and Lisinopril has its way with me. I occasionally experience nasty bouts of vertigo, extraordinary tiredness (even after a full night's sleep) and numbness in my arms and hands while sleeping. I suppose that's the price I have to pay for inheriting heart disease from my folks.

My bio stats: Male, age 41, bodyfat 12-15%, 5'8, 200lbs (I gym a lot). BP without medication range from 150-160/90-110.

Only started treating my BP this year.

Developed a persistent coughing immediately after taking Lisinopril (20mg). Coughing especially bad round 12mn to 4am before being able to fall asleep. Lost of strange and almost blacked out twice in the gym. Lost of libido and penile erection after about 2 months of use. Horrified, I saw my doctor and he swtiched me to Losartan about 1.5 weeks ago.

With Losartan (25mg) I developed a sore throat within 3 days of use which become a really bad chest infection a week later. This was 2 wks ago and I'm still fighting the chest infection with erythromycin and codine.

Obviously, this completely spoiled my gym workout schedule.

Also, I realised that about 4-5 hours after taking Losartan, I'd develop and really bad lower back pain (almost like a slip disk). It would go away after about 6-8 hours.

I never felt more sick this long. Is it worth taking the medications?????? Is there a way to do this naturally without drugs???? HELP!!!!!!

I'm almost ready to give up eating out and just making plain boiled chick breast meat everyday!
