Can Fosamx D 70 mg be the cause of Ecchymosis Petechiae, I have developed what looks like an "under the skin" rash, on the ankles and upward on the leg, sometimes dark and also gets lighter, Doctor is doing blood work now, concerned about my platelets, it is possible there is no relation to Fosamax, but I am curious if anyone else has had this symptom. Thank you, dalecjim

I just returned from seeing a hematologist for bruising and bleeding under and through the skin of my forearms. Luckily, it is not a bleeding problem, but a dermatological condition known as "cutaneous atrophy". I read on this website that is a side effect of the kenalog injections.
I've been getting the injections in both my knees for the past year (shots every four months). The injections help the pain in my knees, but I think I will just take darvocet for the pain and tell my rheumotologist that I do not want any more of these injections. I've also experienced the excessive sweating around my neck and upper back, not knowing why. Scary side effects.

I really think that the FDA needs to re-write the standard list of side-effects and precautions of prednisone. From what I've seen here, the listed rare side-effects are not rare at all!!
It never ceases to amaze me how much goes unreported to our government agencies.
Prednisone side-effects;
Most Frequent:
Hypersecretory Conditions, Increased Appetite, Infection, Insomnia, Nervousness
Less Frequent:
Cushing's Syndrome, Diabetes Mellitus, Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage, Irregular Menstrual Periods, Osteoporosis

This may be a little long.. but I thot it was amusing (or terrifying).
No one website provided this entire list, I merged and edited a few.
My favorite is "... this is not a complete list."

recently developed under skin "rash",from ankle and upward on legs, my dr. is now doing blood work for ecchymosis petechiae, I am curious if anyone has this experience while using Fosamax D 70 mg. I am in good health and it is possible that this symptom is not at all related to Fosamax, which by the way I have stopped now for a while and probably won't go back. Stopped due to severe ache/pain in shoulder area and lower, so bad it was difficult to walk properly. Since stopping it I am walking straighter and no ache/pain. Even though my latest bone scan showed my osteopenia was better, I am off the drug on my own.
