500mg 3 times a day for 10 days, vomited once, have had a horrible headache that started day b4 yesterday, still kinda have it, comes in waves, sux real bad lol

i have Sinusitis, Bronchitis, and a severe respiratory infection.

i see some guy on here mad cuz the doctor didn't tell him he would have bad headaches, like the doctor was going to know in advance he would. this anti-biotic affects different ppl different ways, its really not his responsibility to go over every single side-effect this very common anti-biotic is going to have, thats why the pharmacy gives you a huge pamphlet informing you on the medication, if you would had read it then you would see that headache, diarrhea, and constipation are all common side-effects

i didn't read it however, until i came here and read what i read, which is comforting really cuz at least i know why i have the headache so bad, and why i lost my lunch yesterday, was actually worried maybe i had an infection in my brain and thats why i had it, i know, sounds dumb, but what can i say, im paranoid lol

I have been taking Armour for a couple of weeks now and although I feel better my hair and eyelashes are falling out in massive amounts. I read side effects online and it said this should stop after awhile. Does my hair grow back normal then or is it permanently thinner?

A brief note about "Adderall": this is the trade name of an amphetamines product. It consists of four different amphetamines, such as amphetamine sulfate and amphetamine lactate. However, the "sulfate" and the "lactate" parts are NOT important. The only thing that is important is AMPHETAMINE, regardless of which form. 100% of the effects of Adderall are because of its content of amphetamine, NOT the specific forms of the amphetamine (called, chemically, "salts"). You can get the same effects from generic amphetamine (typically dextroamphetamine sulfate) as from Adderall. The company that makes it claims that Adderall works quicker and lasts longer, but this is mostly bullshit. It is really not significant, and in fact plain old generic dextroamphetamine is generally considered superior to the other forms, including the forms in Adderall. (See the en.wikipedia.org writeup on Adderall for details.)

Incidentally, the Adderall company, facing patent expiration on Adderall and thus more generic competition, is now heavily pushing its new "Vyvanse" -- another amphetamine product with very dubious if any advantages, and indeed probably MORE side effects than Adderall or other amphetamines, and, of course, a much higher price. More pharmaceutical company bullshit! Don't buy it.

Anyway, to return to the main point: Adderall or generic amphetamine makes no difference, except this one big one: The PRICE! Adderall is ridiculously expensive -- typically $1-4 per pill, sometimes even more. This is a total ripoff, since amphetamine is a CHEAP old drug, and the actual cost of 10 or 20 or 30 mgs of it (as in one typical tablet) is negligible, well under a penny. In other words, they ought to sell for, say, $10 or $15 per hundred -- enough to cover the cost of the drug itself (perhaps 10 cents or so) plus all the costs of tableting, bottling, distribution and so forth, with room for the pharmacy's markup. The idea of paying $100 or $200 or even $400 for a dime worth of a cheap old drug is outrageous -- but it happens. It is the greed of the pharmaceutical company combined with the greed of the individual pharmacist that causes this. Pharmacies vary a great deal in pricing, but the producing company also grossly overcharges.

Bottom line: INSIST ON THE GENERIC. Even if insurance covers it and you only have a $5 co-pay. Why? Because the health care system of the U.S. is driving the country bankrupt, and super-high drug costs is one of the reasons. This is one way you can make a contribution, however small, to solving the problem of a medical-academic-industrial-pharmaceutical complex that costs the U.S. well over $2 trillion per year (far larger than the military-industrial complex, and far more per capita than any other developed country). Part of the problem is prescriptions that cost $300 for 50-cents worth of a drug. Be part of the solution.

End of rant. Be well!

I have been on Fosamax for eight weeks. I had joint and muscle pain especially in the neck right from the beginning. I went to the pharmacy and asked about the effects. She told me to just continue to take the medicine.
After the second refill I also have been having stomach pain that wakes me up from sleep. My neck seems to feeling worse. After reading all the other blogs I am stopping this drug. All of my joints are painful and also there is a lot of clicking!! I hope that it hasn't done too much damage.

I've been taking Alesse since I was 15 (I'm 24 now), and my pharmacy switched me to Aviane as the generic last year. Since I was switched, I put on at least 30 pounds, look and feel bloated no matter what I do, and my face has suddenly sprouted bad T-zone acne. I had NO PROBLEMS when I was on Alesse, but thanks to the generic, I look like a fat, bloated, walking pimple! I went off of it for a month thinking I wasn't going to be sexually active -- lost a good ten pounds and looked/felt GREAT -- and now that I have a new partner went back on it... in just a week, I've gained seven pounds, my face looks really bloated, the acne is back, and I'm EXHAUSTED from doing nothing. My appetite is like a grizzly bear too. This is the WORST pill on the market, girls. Try something else. I'm going to Planned Parenthood and asking for a prescription for Yaz... don't have insurance at the moment, so it might be expensive (compared to the $25/generic Aviane), but at this point I couldn't care less if I start looking and feeling better! Girls, I advise you to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PILL.

everyone has their own opinion about mirena but i am here to assure you all that your not crazy. Im currently 19 years old and had mirena inserted October of 2008. Its been about a year and im going nuts. For a long time i had no answers to all of the crazy side effects. I didn't want to believe it was this wonderful easy convenient birth control. Im a college student and i just didn't want any unplanned babies. well its made my life worse. I smoke cigarettes so my doctor told me this was the best option and so i was all for it. Slowly but surely i started losing hair i didn't notice for awhile because my hair was thick in full well i can wrap a standard pony tail four frekin times around my pony. Its about half of my usual hair now. NOT ONLY is it falling out but its very dry and splitting all it does is tangle. Im very healthy young and i take vitamins daily to try and slow this process but it does no good. Since February of 2008 ive been having these terrible episodes were i get worked up for no reason. Ill be sitting in class and all of a sudden i feel like ive run a marathon. My heart races my palms sweat and a tremble. I get so freked out i have to leave class because i fell like im going to die. The worst anxiety attacks and i have to control my breathing or they just last longer. My face is so oily and so is my hair. I usually only washed my hair every other day so i don't strip the natural oils out but now its become a everyday thing which just contributes to more hair lose. I use to break out only around my period now i don't go a day without acne. Im even getting it in my scalp and back. If I don't eat on a schedule i feel like im going to pass out i get severely hungry and weak. I have pains in my uterus and ovaries sometimes and though they don't last long they are painful. I never feel like i want to have sex ever and if i do theres no telling when its going to hurt. Im very dissatisfied with mirena i loved it at first but not enough to go bald. ITS MADE MY LIFE SO STRESSFUL I FEEL BALD AND UGLY AND THAT LEADS TO DEPRESSION.

LOWER BACK PAIN
STOMACH PAIN
NO SEX DRIVE
ACNE AND OILY SKIN
DAMN NEAR BALD
PAIN IN UTERUS/DURING SEX/ANYTIME
EXTREME ANXIETY
DEPRESSION

hi, i've read through this several times, and it is now 3am and i find myself reading them again.

i was on both effexor and wellbutrin (generic versions of both) for quite some time, but didn't have full-on hair loss like I have now 'til about earlier this year when I was on wellbutrin only and was taking 150 mg twice a day. I got off of it because I have always had thin hair so I started to freak out when I noticed hair loss.

Unfortunately I became so depressed that I simply HAD to get back on it; and made the biggest mistake of my life by going up to the full 400mg dosage of the generic wellbutrin.

It killed me. I have very very very little hair especially on ONE side of my head, the left, and can no longer wear my bangs forward like I used to.

I went to the dermatologist (who I think was pretty bad, actually, because I went in for my HAIR and he didn't even do a strength test by pulling on it or anything!) and he said I had male pattern-ish baldness which is even more disconcerting because I can't hide the hair loss, I have a huge bald spot near the front of my head -- and I'm only a 21-year old female, people! This is beyond depressing, really. I'm beyond angry at my psychiatrist for always always downplaying the hair loss risk. I loathe him for it, in fact. But anyway.

I am going to start on biotin, and probably some prenatal vitamins, and maybe even tail Rx (******).

Thank you for posting your experiences, it has been a huge comfort to me (I wasn't lying when I said I read this thread many many times before and am reading it again now, at 3am!)

I got prescribed Levaquin for a Failed attempt with an IUD. It got stuck in my uterus and caused infection and lots of paid.So she put me on Levaquin and another strong antibiotic. I was really scared to take it because of all the side effects i read in the pamplet they give you at the pharmacy,so when i went back to the doctor i told her i was to scared to take it,she told me if i didn't take it that i could die and she would put me in the hospital with IV's if i didn't. So i felt like i had no choice. After the 2nd pill,i couldn't not sleep at all! it gave me insomnia soo bad..And im one of those people thats in bed by 9 and up at 6. Now im tossing and turning all night, and if i do actually fall asleep i wont get up until like 9 and that totally unusual for me. Now its day 8 and both my shoulders and my neck hurt so bad. Feels like pinched nerves and im so nauseous i cant stand it.Also, was driving to walmart with my kids 2 days ago and i had to call my mom to come get us because all the sudden i couldn't drive anymore. Got really dizzy lightheaded and felt like i was going to pass out at the wheel. i was very scared. i wish that on nobody! then when i got out of the car i felt like my legs hurt so bad they couldn't carry me. I never thought that any of that had to do with the pill until i read this..Im not taking it anymore and i have a week left..

I've been on Wellbutrin XL 300mg for quite some time now...coming up on 2 years, I think? I think I took the brand name drug at first, but for most of the time, I've taken the generic BUPROPRION--different generics from different companies, even. But this last refill, the pharmacy had switched to BUDEPRION for the generic. Bupropion and Budeprion are NOT the same!

Today is my second day on Budeprion and I feel like crap. Jittery, shaky, diarrhea, peeing constantly ("polyuria"), heart racing, nausea, nausea while hungry, hot-and-cold, and now worn out from a day of all that! My psychiatrist is on maternity leave but I've got a call in to her office to get it switched back to brand-name. Thankfully I'm in grad school, and under my student health insurance, the copay is the same for brand or generic.

Why Budeprion is considered a generic of Wellbutrin, I don't know. Wellbutrin is bupropion. This Budeprion stuff is a different chemical composition and is absorbed by/released into the body an entirely different way, from what I've been reading. When is the FDA going to get its act together???

This is nothing new but goes right along with what others are saying about Lisinopril, AKA drug from Hell. I asked to be switched from Benicar due to its high cost compared to Lisinopril. My Dr. picked Lisinopril from a list my mail order pharmacy (Medco) sent as potentially less expensive than Benicar. I had zero problems with Benicar. I'm 59, male, generally in good shape. After 30 days on Lisinopril HZTC I was tired all the time, couldn't sleep very well, leg cramps, sweating like crazy. The worst part for me is joint pain that lingers on after going back to Benicar 10 days ago. The pain in one of my hip joints makes it very hard to even walk. I know it was the drug from Hell that did it. After 10 days I'm now OK except for the joint pain, which at least is not constant like it was when I was taking Lisinopril. Good luck to everyone.

I was on ortho-tricyclene lo for years and had no problems. I had a baby a year ago and was on a progesterone only pill due to breast feeding. I recently weaned him, and wanted to go back to the ortho. My doctor prescribed me the Ortho, and when I picked it up at the pharmacy it was the tri-sprintec. I gained weight with in the first week of taking this medication. I weighed less when my breasts where engorged with BFing!! Now my breasts are not full and I eat less and work out more and still gained weight!!! This is really discouraging because I work really hard to stay in shape and I am a petite girl, so a few pounds goes a long way on my frame. Anyway, because this is the brand name and not the generic that I want, it is a pain to request the brand name now to get it covered by insurance. I am hoping to go back to the ortho and get rid of this excess weight!!!

i am a very healthy 55 year old who dances salsa 4-5 times a week, skis 4-5 mornings per week and works out at gym with wight 4-5 mornings. i developed a possible case of pneumonia and was prescribed avalox for 5 days (at $90.00 dollars no less) on the 3rd day i woke up ,and felt heel pain in my left heel and attributed it to0 a nerw pair of shoes i used for dancing. upon rubbing my heel and noticing NO callous or rubbed area i stood uo do experience sharp pain in my achilles tendon area. later on that same day i noticed my left shoulder area(rotator) seemed sore and did not make any connection since i use left arm to spin salsa partners. that same morning while drinking coffee at breakfast I read the sheets given to me by the HMO pharmacy to discover to my ALARM the side effect for people my age "possible torn achiiles tendon" as well as other tendon issues. alarmed i stopped to meds and called the PA who prescribed them.meantime i was on my way to Mexico and put on zithromax instead and upon coming home 10days later off of marvelox i still have extreme heel pain and discomfort in tendon areas . i finally went to see a doctor 3 days ago and upon telling him of these symptoms he told me there was "not a definite connection"....i proceed ed to almost start screaming and told him "not top talk to me like a stupid FU---ng 21 year old. i know my body and I HAVE BEEN VIOLATED AND when i confronted the head of pharmacy at the clinic she informed me thast on the computer Avelox was"blacklisted" for these side effects and it was posted on the system. when asked if this was permanent symptoms she did not know for sure and I informed them that I expected a call from their pharmD to discuss these symptoms, history, effects and possible remedies. i've been screwed and SOMEBODY will pay for abusing me!!

Just started taking 10MG about 2 to 3 weeks ago, and now I get DAILY excruciating headache pain on the right side of my brain. It primarily occurs when I exert energy (I am an open water swim competitor, so I exert a lot of energy). When I train in the pool or ocean, I get the worst headaches imaginable, which has never happened to me EVER (I am 47, and have been competing in the water for over 30 years). I water skied last weekend with my kids, and once I got up on the ski I felt the worst headache in my life; I had to stop (which was a real bummer), and almost requested to go to the hospital because I felt I was having some kind of brain aneurysm (sp?). No way am I taking any more of this "medicine"; I have been healthy (and drug free) my entire life, and not a chance will I throw it all away as a guinea pig for big pharmacy. I don't think the link between cholesterol and heart disease is as iron clad as the Drs. and pharmacy companies insist, and even if they are right, I'd rather deal with the problems later than live with the symptoms now. If you doubt if this is real, you may e-mail me at ******

I have been taking Levaquin for four days now and am suffering from serious lower leg pain, weakness in my right hand, nausea, my skin feels so hot all the time and not able to sleep. I am sure the Levaquin is causing this as this all started right after taking the first pill. I did not get an information sheet from the pharmacy that there were serious side effects to this drug. I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus / ear infection because I am allergic to Zithromax (my liver reacts negatively with this antibiotic). I will not be continuing the course of antibiotic and hope the pain stops.

Hi There :)
I went to the doctor 2 days ago and was prescribed alesse, but the pharmacy gave me aviane instead, as my mom's health insurance only covers generic brands. Now I have a 3 month prescription sitting in front of me, and after reading about all of these negative experiences, I don't know what to do! this is my first pill (I'm 17 - 18 soon) and I really don't want any negative side effects. My main reasons for going on the pill were skin problems, and that I have horrible cramps that put me out of commission for 1-2 days every month.

I took Yasmin for years and was perfectly normal and totally functional. The pharmacy automatically switched me to Ocella last fall. I was ok up until around this past March. I have experienced extreme heart palpitations, horrible panic attacks and my very favorite has been the excruciating back and abdominal muscle pain (I'm on a heating pad every night for 4 hours). I feel like death. Have been to every doctor and have had every test done (cardiologist, family, obgyn, etc.) - I'm just plain crazy according to them!!! I'm 39, have 2 kids and a husband, teach school full time and I'm convinced I won't live to see 45. I have been starting to see commercials about lawsuits against Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella. I think the pill I took this morning is the last Ocella I'm ever going to swallow. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms?

I switched from the small round white generic Wellbutrin to the large round yellow Wellbutrin 2 weeks ago. Not to my agreement, I just picked it up at the pharmacy and there it was. Anyway, today I went to the doctors for a rash and she told me that different manufacturers have different fillers in the pills, so I could be allergic to one of the components. I took my new Wellbutrin back to the pharmacy and the pharmacist gave me my old generic brand. The rash was on my stomach, the hips, my back...and it appeared Sunday night. Just a story in case anyone is experiencing something similar. If this doesn't make my rash go away, I will report back to let you know it in fact wasn't the change.

I am a 51 year old black male. I went to my doctor and she prescribed 50mg ic lisinopril for my HBP. I went to the pharmacy and got the drug. I decided to find out about the side effects before starting the drug. After reading all these scary stories, I have changed my mind from even starting this drug until I meet my doctor and show her what I have read. Is there anything else I can do to bring my blood pressure down other taking a drug? Because all these prescription or over the counter drugs have some side effects that would make you more sick than what doctors prescribe it for. Thanks for all the stories

Was on Prednisone for 11 days for an injury to my neck. I knew nothing about the drug except what my doctor told me that it would reduce inflammation in my neck and help with pain.

Well, it did nothing for the injury and pain in my neck. BUT.... I had HORRIBLE menstrual cramps and got my period 8 days early. I've had my period for 9 days now AND terrible pain in my upper left leg. I thought the pain was related to my leg and as the days went by I realized it was in my left hip! It's so bad I can't lift my leg without extreme pain. I KNOW IT'S FROM this awful drug.

I've been off of it for 4 days and the pain is still with me. I called my family dr. and was told Prednisone doesn't do that. BULL!! The paperwork I got with it from the pharmacy show "Changes in menstrual periods" "muscle/joint pain" "bone pain".

I wish I knew this BEFORE I ever took it.

Does anyone know if these symptoms and problems will go away after stopping it? I called the pharmacy and was told it will take 2-3 weeks for it to get out of my system!!

Has anyone had problems that eventually went away after stopping the drug?

Thanks and I hope everyone else is okay soon! This drug should be off the market. I received no help for my neck pain at all!!

I have been on generic Wellbutrin for almost two weeks and have not gotten a rash but have noticed that my anxiety has gone up, especially at night. I already have anxiety about not sleeping and normally will take benadryl or lunesta to help that. I also feel like I have this surge of anger, that I am not sure where it came from. Has anyone else had this? I talked to my doctor yesterday and he said to follow up on Friday and see. I am switching from lexapro to wellbutrin because of massive weight gain and to help me quit smoking. Any advice would be grateful, I can deal with it if I know its going to pass shortly!!

Hi, I got my mirena in on 5/8 and ever since I have had cramping, crazy periods, extremely bad headaches the kind that make you dizzy and vomit, constantly nauseated, Ive also be so tired and moody lately that its becoming unbearable. I have been to the E R probably 5 times in the last months w/ excruciating headaches, only to get an iv to stop the pain. Nothing to fix the problem. Ive taken and been given so many different headache meds that I could open my own pharmacy. Well im glad I found this site because I thought I was really going out of my mind, and maybe it was all in my head after all. I go to my ob tomorrow and im demanding they remove it. I can't take it any longer. Thanks so much for the previous post.

I was prescribed doxycycline hyclate by mt dentist for gum disease. I have been taking it since 3/23/2009. I stopped taking it two days ago. I have found increasing joint pain, especially in the thumbs. It has been getting worse. Also muscle aches from routine yard work, nothing strenuous. Itching all over the hands, arms, legs and back. I had been advised by the pharmacy to watch out for sun while taking it. Since it is summer time, there isn't too much one can do to completely stay out of the sun.

I intend to continue to suspend taking the medication and purge it from my body. This is the second time in the last several years that I was not properly advised of the various side effects.

I was prescribed this medication for dental disease and to take it for a minimum of 90 days. Since 3/23/2009 the gums have stopped bleeding. I just hope my system can purge itself of this RX.

I was given Yutopar via a drip at 22 weeks pregnant and as a result had three fits. It was immediately stopped and I was taken to a labor ward with dim lights and just left to hope labor did not proceed and thank God it didn't. On returning hope I could not climb staris because of breathlessness and to this day that has persisted. Mt health Visitor who was concerned for me visited Pharmacy to discuss the possible side effects of this drug and was told that lung function could be affected. Now 20 years later I have what looks like COPD, and am thinking back to those days in 1988!

I have been taking Lamictal for just three weeks. The most troublesome side effect for me has been nasal congestion and the inability to smell or taste anything. Has anyone experienced this and found relief after reaching the maintenance dose after the starter pack?
Is there anyone who has found relief from this in any way? I'm not sure I can tolerate not being able to breathe and am hoping that it goes away soon.
