I have been on Warfarin for three months for a DVT in my femoral vein. I get some headaches, fatigue, feel cold, tired and have gained weight. I am a fit middle aged male, back at the gym now and cycling. I eat a balanced low fat high fiber diet, but still cannot shift the weight. I have been a depressive for most of my life and although manage without drugs have resorted to Valium to help me sleep, as insomnia has also been a significant side effect. I do not sit around, drink excessively or eat like a pig, so where is the weight coming from? My GP's seems ambivalent and it took five weeks to diagnose my DVT after my complaining about Phlebitis and pains in my groin. Not a happy bunny.

I am not on synthroid, but also feel tired all the time with brain fog. I was actually thinking about getting my thyroid checked. I just read a wonderful book called "Breakthrough" and will be going to one of the recommended doctor's in the book. All of everybody's symptoms, including mine, sounds like the result of out of whack hormones---estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, etc.(guys, you too) You might want to go to a doctor that deals with bio-identical hormone replacement---not your OB/GYN. They also have a better thyroid hormone replacement---a natural one made from, um, here it comes--pig--which is supposedly better than the synthetic stuff everyone is taking. Also, every single doctor interviewed in the book raved about the fact that diet sodas are poison--the artificial sweeteners are killing us--so if you're downing those, you might want to stop for a while to see if you feel better. Good luck and God bless you all---hope this helps you and I hope the doctor that I'm going to see helps me...I really recommend reading that book---there is a wealth of info in there. Some things I questioned but most things really made sense.

I would just like to say that, even though I just started it, I love Microgestin(generic Loestrin). I'm finishing my first week of pills and things are already getting better. I had been on the shot for my 9 months when I couldn't take it anymore. In the week that I've started taking it, my depression has seemed to melt away. While on the shot I suffered from severe depression and mood swings. Also, I am no longer spotting after having spotted for almost the entire 3 months I had had my last shot. The only thing I noticed was that I had a little more discharge than I normally do and that my appetite may have gone up a little more..although I am trying to gain weight. Also I had some pain in my left shoulder and left leg? I don't know if it was related to the pill though. Just so you know, the shot makes you eat like a pig. I gained almost 15 pounds over the course of 9 months. I started out 5'7 105. I'm now 5'7 118. The shot also gives you hot flashes. Terrible terrible hot flashes.

It feels so great to have seen that other people are experiencing the same unlisted side effects. I am on 100mg of doxy twice a day for 20 weeks. I've only been taking it a few days but holy crap. I have been so depressed lately. All I do is cry. And I can't explain why or what I'm thinking that triggers it. I do have things in my life going on that are upsetting me, but nothing that should get me to this point. I have random thoughts of suicide, which is getting me even more down. I have always been such a fun loving, care free person. But now everyone is always asking what's wrong me. I didn't suspect the drug, but getting off and calling my derm ASAP. Other than the depression I've spent a few days throwing up after taking the antibiotic, but I hadn't had too much to eat that day.

My son is on the 15mg patch. He is developing OCD type behaviors-right now it is an obsession with his fingernails-always picking at them, getting dirt out from underneath them, even when there is none. We have tried adderall and this. I think I am going to try something natural. Any suggestions? He also won't eat or drink all day so we need to go a different route.

Hi,
I am 50 years old. I was diagnosed with as hypo at age 39. My doctor prescribed Synthroid at 25mcg and I have (proudly-ha!) worked my way up to 125mcg. I was always one of the "lucky ones" who could eat any and everything and my weight stayed the same. I am a busy mom of two and a first grade teacher, so the 33 lbs. I have gained since age 39 has not been due to diet changes or sitting around with a bag of chips in front of a TV all day. I also questioned my doctor about this and he just brushed it off. Well, I am tired of not feeling good about myself. My life is in good order except for my weight. I want someone to take this seriously. Should I see a specialist rather than my regular internist?
Wow! I think I just lost a little weight telling you great people about this!

I have been on Levoxyl for about 9 years and have felt awful. I have had weight loss, dry hair, thinning hair, dry skin, muscle aches, migraines and the list goes on. I just got out of the hospital Monday after 4 days of testing of my heart and lungs. I was admitted for racing heart. The doctor's conclusion was anxiety! They said that Levoxyl has nothing to do with my rapid heart rate. The endocrinologist prescribed taking levoxyl .050 on day and .075 the next also a beta blocker, Xanax and Zoloft. I can not take any of these meds b/c they make it almost worse. I KNOW it is not Anxiety and it from the Levoxyl but what do I do?? I am a mess right now can not be in this condition with four young kids and a husband. None of the doctors would say it was the Levoxyl and instead prescribed more and told me to check up with blood work in 6 weeks. I took the .050 yesterday around noon and by 7:30pm my heart rate picked up again and continued until 4:30 this morning. I can not sleep more then 2 hours at a time and wakeup feeling like I am crawling out of my skin. PLEASE let me know of any solutions.

I was wondering if high doses of Lamictal can cause seizures. I am prescribed 200 mg 2x daily. I accidentally took 800 mg for a few days after switching from 2 100 mg tabs 2x daily. What followed was miserable. I had this weird vision-thing like a microfiche on its side, running very fast. I got dizzy, then had trouble walking. By the time I got to the hospital, I was having severe tremors, and the (dumb) hospital did not give Ativan for 45 min.after this started. The doctor said it could not be a seizure, because I was slightly aware at times, and could answer questions. I can't remember almost all of it, nor about 24-48 hours after. They had to administer 10 mg of Valium in the ambulance on the way to a separate hospital. The thing lasted for over an hour, I guess, and my husband (who has seizures from childhood also) says it was terrible- full generalized seizure. What ticks me off is that later they called it an anxiety attack, without knowing about the Lamictal doses. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

This medication was a life-saver for me when I first started taking it 7 years ago. Unfortunately, every so often it would stop being effective. My Dr. would up the dosage until I was on the highest and could go no future. So I set out to titrate off, which I did very slowly, but it was hell. The worst was when I was finally done. I felt like a junkie. I was shaking, having crazy brain zaps that made me feel like I was being shocked every time I'd close my eyes. I was sweating like a pig. My sleep was was filled with terrifying nightmares that left me screaming out in my sleep. I am 5 weeks off and still experiencing nightmares, and a few mind-zap things-but nothing like they were when I first started to come off. Yoga and meditation seemed to be the only things that helped. Each day I wanted to take it again just to feel normal. No one can believe that a common SSRI can have such horrible withdrawal effects, so I am on a quest to educated everyone I know.

I have had Hashi now since 2000, i got it when I was still in high school. They though that was rare that this would occur at such a young age. No one in my family had it, well not quite yet. I was the first to get diagnosed. My gyn mentioned that there is a link between autoimmune and preeclampsia. I had a terrible preg. I take synthroid now well the generic. And I do not feel much better at all. But people who use Armour should be careful. My endocrinologist strongly disapproved to this. It is Pig tyroid. This is from a site "The prevailing opinion is that everyone converts all the T4 needed into T3 automatically, and that drugs such as Armour and Thyrolar are outdated and old-fashioned at best." Also does not mention much on Hasimoto patients like myself. I would like to try it though to feel better. The side effects are higher as well. Esp long term.
Unfortantly, what works for one, does not always work for another person. So though some have problems with there synthroid others do not. Also it takes a while for you to notice a difference with this. IF you take it regularly at the same time and follow instructions on eating as well as not take it with vitC then you should be experiencing something. If not then you really need to get a new endocrinologist. Regular doctors are not made to deal with these issues, though they try, you need to see a specialist. Just remember that you know how you feel and if Synthroid is not working for out then change.

Recently took a twenty day run of 500 mg Levaquin for a cellulitis infection that popped up after a knee surgery. It seems that unlike most people I tolerate the drug pretty well. The only side effect I have noticed is a little muscle stiffness when I wake up which is quickly remedied through light stretching and a warm shower. After being put on this medication I looked up it's side effects and was frightened by how many people have had terrible and debilitating side effects. Next time I'll trust my doctor and not look them up. I think any lost sleep and nervousness can be attributed to worrying about side effects that never came up.

My Mirena Removal....
So i posted here a few weeks ago after I found this site. I had EVERY side effect listed and was so freaked out that i immediately made an appointment for removal.
For those of you reading and wondering what the removal is like..
Well, NOTHING like the insertion. I was so so nervous and it was over before we actually started. The DR was surprised that i was back in his office to have this removed. He then proceeded to do an ultrasound to be sure it was placed properly before removal. And yes, all was OK on the position of it. I explained to him my reasons and he looked at me like he had never heard this before. I honestly can not imagine with all the women he sees that NONE of them have complained. But...as I was getting dressed afterwards, I took a good look in his office. There was Mirena literature ALL over the place. In fact, that was the ONLY thing he was advertising. Not to mention...they made me pay up front with the insertion back in Nivember...billed my insurance and I still have yet to receive my reimbursement. Oh yeah, and that...they charge more than the actual Mirena costs, then they bill your insurance for the price they know they will pay and the DR then makes about $150 profit. Nice.
Ok, back to my side effects post Mirena. The removal was not painful at all. I did spot for about a week- nothing too heavy but it was clotty and def there.
A couple of days after the removal it felt like I was coming out of my skin something terrible. I figured this was my body adjusting to the lack of hormones. I also had some headaches.
It has now been 2 weeks and the spotting has disappeared. I also can see the bloating of my stomach is starting to go away. It looked like I was about 4 mos preggo while I was on it. I also have an increased sex drive. And sleep-- well let me tell you, I have not slept this good in a very long time. I am actually sleeping more than 6 hours now and the night sweats have also discontinued.
I can't believe EVERY time I come to this site and look up Mirena ALL the people that have posted their experience as being negative. Yet, the DR looks at me like I am crazy! I have been seeing him for years and I have never complained about something like this. I really am so happy that I have it out and wish I would have done my research on this prior to insertion (which was one of the most painful things ever!)
So..for those of you out there that are either contemplating having it inserted...I say NO WAY. And for those of you out there that are nervous about the removal or not sure..I SAY YES, DO IT! For our bodies to be reacting this way, it is clear to me that it should not be inside of us. Listen to your bodies...they really do speak to you and let you know when something is not right. Forget about the DR saying it is safe or he has not heard of any of these side effects...YOU be the judge.
Good luck! And I promise it gets better once you get that lil' demon out!
Mona

I don't know about this Loestrin 24. In the beginning everything was fine. I had the normal spotting before periods and thats it. I have been on the pill for about 5mths now. Just recently I started bleeding for no reason at all. It was nowhere near the time I am suppose to start. Plus I am gaining weight, I am bloated, and I am eating like a pig. The major issue is my husband and I have been fighting like crazy! I know it is not me because I don't normally behave this way. I am emotional, sensitive, depressed, and impatient. I do not know what to do. The only good thing is that I do not bleed heavy and there is no cramping. But, is the pill worth everything else? It is tearing my marriage apart.

I have no bad side effects on Synthroid, unless I am overmedicated. I get burning feelings on my shoulders, back, arms, and nape. I can't sleep, or wake for no reason during the night. I get very nervous, and have a jittery feeling all through my body. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I started taking Femcon two weeks ago. I know why it is called birth control. There is no way to get pregnant if you have no desire to have sex. And you are so moody your boyfriend does not want to have sex with you. This pill is horrible. Mood swings, no sex drive, and it makes you really hungry. I really really would not recommend this pill to anybody.

I was put on Effexor because of depression. My husband was going to be going to the middle east and I was so worried and depressed as well as experiencing separation anxiety. I started it a month before he left and IT WAS HORRIBLE.! Getting on it was just as bad as not having it! The side effects were like everyone else. No sex drive (mind you...my husband was leaving to the middle east!), cotton mouth and nausea. He left and that is when little by little it got worst. I GAINED WEIGHT and felt even more depressed because my husband was coming home to a PIG! Hubby got out of the military and I had went home to wait for him. (VA is where I was getting the meds and home is CA) When he got home I decided to get off the meds. I had gained over 30lbs! I was always petite and athletic. 5'2 120lbs and size 3 or 5. I was at 152 and size 9,11 and EVEN 13!!!! I have 2 kids and even pregnat never gained that much weight! I called my Dr. and they said I would have to come in to get off the meds! I live in CA now and cannot go to VA just to get the ween off pills so I did it COLD TURKEY!!! BIG MISTAKE!!!!! One disagreement with my husband made me FLIP OUT!!!! I was out of my character! I attacked him and became physically violent and angry! This is not like me! He could not control me and called the police thinking they were just going to calm me down. Because he told them the truth, but did not want to press charges, they still arrested me and I went to jail that night! I have NEVER went to jail and I never thought I would NEVER be somewhere like this. It was so embarrassing! As a result, my charges were dropped, but because my son was there CPS got involved, my husband and I were separated (although we didn't want to be apart, but if we did not do as they wished they would've taken our children!) for 6 months 1 month after he got back from the middle east! I was made to attend 52 week domestic violence classes! THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKE THIS MEDICATION!!!!!

I have being taking thyroid medicine since 1994. I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and prescribed Synthroid. It didn't work. Instruct to take radioactive pill. Now, diagnoses change to Hypothyroidism. Prescribe Levoxyl. Endocrinologist said I would lose weight, but instead I have gone from a size 8 to 16. I feel really bad when I miss my doses. Really anxious when I take it every day. I am noticing that I have moles growing out and spreading all over my body. Switch back to Synthroid three months ago. That when start experiencing a great deal of hair loss. Decide to switch back to Levoxyl but a lower dose. The hair loss has slowed down a little. But, hair is growing slowly. I am having problems focusing and some memory loss. I really don't know what to do. I have change endocrinologist twice. I really think that Levoxyl and Synthroid have bad side effects on human after long term usage. I am miserable because I can't control my weight. I know that it has something to do with this medicine. If anyone know of some other medicine that would Hypothyroidism in check without all of the side effects that I mention. Please share it with me.

I have had all of the creepy crawlies and I have had severe dizziness and
my face looks like the face of a pig and my throat looks like I have a severe thyroid problem. My feet swell, hands swell and I put my wedding ring on and I could not get it off but my husband who has stood by me the whole way told me to use soap and I got my ring off but I am afraid to put it back on. I will be off Prednisone-Steroids Friday will be two weeks. I wish I had never took them but I have a severe Diarrhea problem since before Thanksgiving of last year and my Dr. used Steroids and I am on 5-600 mg. pills of Sulfasalazine and he says-Dr. I may never be able to get off this drug. I am just now getting a regular bowel movement. I have nausea, headache, stomach pains, depression and I am going to stay off of them even though I have these withdrawals.

I am up at this moment, because my stomach is hurting from the lithium. I've been on it now for about a year, but my stomach just started hurting at night after about an hour after taking it for about three months now. Is anyone else experiencing this? I read one post above about it, but that's all. There is no vomiting, but just upset stomach. It keeps me awake. I'm on lithium and lamictal, and Topomax. If you experience this, is anyone taking anything for the nausea? Thank you! And everyone hang in there! You're in my prayers! Don't give up!

Developed sleep walking, eating, talking, running machinery and watching TV while I was supposedly asleep. This was witnessed by my niece who was very scared. It lasted for about an hour. This is not the first time but this is the first time someone witnessed it. I had suspected all along because I saw used dishes and empty containers in the kitchen in the morning. Have been off it for 3 days now and thank God. Never will I take it again although it seemed to work well for 2 years. I have gained so much weight from the night eating. That guy on the news who says he drove his car after taking Ambien, I now believe him!

This is for a friend of mine diagnosed with Parkinson's and dystonia. All her big problems began shortly after hypothyroid diagnosis and her starting on Synthroid. Is it coincidence? Or has anyone heard of synthroid or thyroid meds promoting or mimicing Parkinson symptoms,or involuntary muscle spasms? Am I just imagining a connection?

I have been on Wellbutrin for 4 days. I was taken of Paxil which seemed to have unpleasent side effects. I am sweatin like pig during sleep. I sweat so much I have to change. I also feel very anxios and irritable. I'm crying because I've tried everything and this is the last resort for me, I can't take it any more. In addition I have severe diareha and I'm not hearing any of these complants. Am I hopeless?
