I've been taking Lisinopril now for almost 7 yrs yrs. Over those 7 yr's, I've became a totally different person, & almost lost my family because of it. I became angry, more depressed over physical pain I've had since the age of 11, when I had a disease that totally messed up my body, having both legs amputated. "How do I know it was this drug?" Someone might be asking... Because finally, after arguing, trying to convince my doctor, "Lisinopril is causing all my personality changes", & getting put on other anti-depressants (which is a whole different CessPool for a later time), making me suicidal.. well, I've had enough, so I went off Lisinopril.. and GUESS WHAT? I was right! Its the third day without it, & I'm my old self again. Some people might not be happy, but TOO Damn bad for them!

Along with the personality changes, I could hardly move from my office chair, when I got to it. I had no motivation, no strength, & OH yeah.. I lost the ability to have bowl movements. let me rephrase that.. I lost the ability to push.. I hope everyone gets what I mean. BM discussions don't go over well here in America. That ability came back on the second day without lisinopril. My memory was totally trashed. Its slowly getting better. The left side of my face has been swollen for some time now, & my doctor says, "doesn't know why.".. I do.. that seems to be getting better too. ITS AMAZING what the FDA lets drug companies do to us!

And I saw a post someone here, that was asking, "Why the FDA lets drug companies kill us off, one by one." (I did a little editing of the quote, but its close). They get away with, knocking us off, for a very simple reason. Because they grease the palms of our elected officials with piles of $$$$$$ throughout the year, so they (Elected officials) will let them (Drug Companies) have free rein to do what the heck they want, & put out the garbage they do.. & not be prosecuted by our laws. They also pay them (elected ones) to keep them (Drug pigs) king of the hill, & not let companies selling Natural herbs, & others like them, from marketing their products in competition with the drug kings here in the USA. They're nothing more then a Mafia.. if that word's to harsh for anyone, then try Kingpins of low life SOB's. Does that work?

I had the mirena fitted 20 Nov 08, after an aborted attempt the month before (ny cervix had disappeared high up and doctor s didn't have stirrups so was referred to a family [planning clinic). Insertion wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, I find smears very uncomfortable so I was expecting a bad time.
It is now 5 months and in the last 2 months I've had at least 3 x 2 week periods and quite heavy. The first 3 months I either bleed or spotted everyday. in between bleeding episodes I appear to be suffering with constipation and piles (have been know to suffer form these anyway so can't decide if its all connected)

I haven't suffered with weight gain, but am on a diet and not really getting anywhere fast (or even slowly)

Tomorrow I am making an appointment to discuss these with my doctor, as it is affecting our sex life, and ruining many pairs of knickers.

On another note : I have a friend who thought the mirena was wonderful, but did have it removed due to weight gain.

I am going to copy the address to this page and personally drive around to local family practice offices and discreetly drop piles of them everywhere. I pride myself on my medical knowledge and background having worked one way or another in the medical field all of my life. I take into account every aspect of a new medication after a life altering labor and deliver drove me to have a bright shiny new Norplant installed before it had time to be researched and tested properly, i'm still awaiting the final outcome of that young, uneducated, made out of fear of unimaginable horror and lack of RELIABLE READY INFORMATION ABOUT ALL OF IT'S SIDE AFFECTS. I believe every person is different and no one person will tolerate the same information the same way.
Except for the Mirena apparently. It seems almost UNIVERSALLY bad for a women's body and was MOST LIKELY conjured up by some ill treated ManBoy.
All that being said to the women who were in NO way warned of any of the negative side affects,(most likely older women who finally found mr right but under no circumstances want to go back to diapers sleepless nights and college tuition worries...) Thank Goodness for the WorldWideWeb and access to information. I am over 35 and have a family history of heart disease, there are very few options for birth control for me. This seemed like some sort of modern day miracle and while I suspected someone having as *significant* of a period as I, should probably...have one regularly...I too was *woo'd* by the prospect of a shorter, lighter, possibly infrequent period. However I was not warned that the other 3 weeks of the month I would rather be dead than alive. Turns out my body is smarter than I am and just days after finding this site and putting it all it finally passing the *MirenaBlock* ...I made an appt for a check and my body had spent the last 4 months attempting to push it out.
I'm never lucky enough for the *magicpills* to work, to those who are *KUDOS* but don't belittle those women smart enough to pursue a logical explanation to a sudden change in every aspect of your life. Information is knowledge and if you look most of those *BITCHY* women who called you babies have has the *device* installed less than 6 months...lol Kharma's a bitch and I think the Mirena has pissed off *Mother Nature* good luck lol and yes...I too within HOURS ...felt better and I EMBRACE the wonders of modern medicine daily...just not the horrors !

I have had Mirena since October 2007, and since then I have had severe cramps, sharp pain in my pelvis area, abd pain, headaches, mood swings, and NO sex drive. Every time My husband and I have intercourse I bleed and have pain. I have had it rechecked twice in the past year to make sure it is in place, and I couldn't figure out why I was having all these issues. After seeing this website I have decided to have it removed... April 21 .. so I will post again on how things are going!

OMG, thank goodness I found this site and have been able to confirm my suspicions. I had my mirena inserted 5 months ago, god how excruciating. It wasn't long after I noticed how tired I was feeling. Non stop spotting, smelly awful brown discharge. I am finding it very hard to motivate myself at work, even workmates have said I'm just no myself and haven't been since I got the Mirena. I feel nausea every day, sore joints, TIRED TIRED TIRED...... and HUNGRY like I'm pregnant. I thought I was experiencing the start of menopause with hot flushes. I can't seem to concentrate on anything, constantly loosing things or cant find them. Not to mention the aching abdomen, the bloated stomach. I'm waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic because of constant breast pain... on and on it goes..
I went back to the Dr. who assured me it wasn't likely to be caused by the Mirena.... blah blah blah but I made an appointment today to get them to take it out... and tonight I'm glad I did after reading this site. Now I am totally convinced that the hormone levonorgestrel doesn't agree with me at all. Why won't the medical practitioners listen???? do they get paid a commission for each one they fit?? I'm not sure but listen to your bodies ladies and look after them.

I was so glad to find this website. I was feeling terrible after having the Mirena in for around a year. I started looking online when I woke up several days in a row feeling so bad and nauseous that I was worried I was pregnant!

I was very fatigued, achy, having trouble sleeping, having strange acne breakouts on weird parts of my body, terrible abdominal cramps - yet no period, bowel problems, VERY slow to heal my sports strains/sprains, nauseous, random headaches (and I have NEVER been prone to headaches), odor, crotch drop, hair loss, forgetfulness, BAD mood swings/depression, dehydration. I looked and felt like I had aged 10 years...All this time I was blaming it on having a two kids, getting older, stress, etc.

Well, thanks to this site, I had my Mirena removed last week. I had no ill side effects from the removal and had a normal period for the first time in about 6 months. I felt incredibly better in a few days! I have more energy, I have slept much more soundly - the dark circles around my eyes are diminishing and I look much better. My routine bumps and bruises from soccer and taekwondo are healing at a normal pace and I don't feel achy all the time. Basically I feel great, and I hadn't for a long time. I feel like myself again.

If you have ANY of these symptoms that everyone is talking about...don't write it off to anything else, and don't let your doctor tell you it's due to other things. You know your body and what is normal. If you are wondering at all why you feel bad - get the thing OUT and do it NOW! (My GYN was very understanding and compliant to my request, but still insisted that my symptoms were most likely due to stress than anything else). At least you will have peace-of-mind knowing that you eliminated the IUD as a cause of your symptoms. You can always have a new one put in if you find that not to be the case.

I hope this site is correct regarding the class action lawsuit, because I am seriously considering joining it. Mom's have it hard enough without this IUD complicating their lives further!

I had the Mirena coil fitted in Dec 06. For 12 months, I had horrid slutchy loss P.V but no actual periods. I had increase in spots, all along my jawline and hairline and cheeks....acne at 45!! Something I'd never had as a teenager. My weight has gained because I'm always, always hungry and seem to have lost my appetite control button. My breasts are constantly tender and feel enormous like just before a period or in early pregnancy. I am so, so tired. I find myself nodding off at 5pm even when I've had a really good previous nights' sleep. My energy is zilch. I feel tearful and run down despite eating well and taking vitamin supplements. Is it the Mirena? My doctor has said "No!". The only way to find out is have it removed, return to heavy periods and suck it and see! However, if I don't have it out, I fear I may reach 15 stone!! (went from 9st 9lbs to 11st 4lbs in 2 yrs).

My new doctor put me on lisinopril in additon to verapamil and plavix which had been taking for over five years.
When I began having nose bleeds and bleeding piles, he implied it was the plavix, so I reduced it more and more.
But am now convinced it was the lisinopril.
Finally I have stopped lisinopril and will see what happens when I again take more plavix.

I had been taking lisinopril for about a month when I began having nose bleeds and bleeding piles. My doctor insisted that it was not the lisinopril and pointed out the Plavix I was taking is a blood thinner. He didn't say it directly, but I inferred that he suggested I reduce the Plavix, which I did. But the bleeding has stilling continued irregually.
Then about a month ago, I woke up with tinkling in my hands and feet, although I sleep only on my back in my recliner. After several days of this, I check the info sheet that comes with the medication. It states that lisinopril may cause swelling of hands and feet. Since once before, when a pharmacist told me another medication could cause swelling of the extremities and when I got the numbness and tinkling I called and he confirmed it was the same thing.
Any way, I stopped the lisinopril completely and informed my doctor thru his medical assistant, who relayed that although the doctor doublted lisinopril was the cause, he cautioned that I keep checking my BP. (I have been taking Verapamil for seven years to control it, but this new doctor wanted the BP even lower, so he put me on lisinopril in addition.)
I stayed off it for ten days and the numbing of the hands and feet vanished. But to verify that it is the lisinopril, I took one pill two days ago and woke up with strong tinkling in my right hand and lesser amount in my left hand.
Even today, as I am writing this, I still experience tinkling or numbness in both hands.

Inflamed bowel, anal piles (possibly fissure).

These symptoms peaked and then disappeared a week or so after I stopped the medication. I did not make the connection the first time around, so I restarted the medication after 2 weeks - the symptoms reappeared in 3 days. Again, stopping cyclocort caused the symptoms to go away after a week
