I had an infection on my foot (could have been Staph because it was very aggressive and painful with lots of swelling) and was prescribed 'Bactrim' or Sulfamethoxazole. Everything was fine for the first 8 days. My infected foot was healing.
On the 9th day, I developed a rash that I noticed first on my wrist and then my neck, inner thighs and my feet. I went to the doctor who said to not take my 10th and final day of Sulfamethoxazole and prescribed benadryl.
Later the same day (tonight), the rash has spread everywhere from face to toe. The itching hasn't been severe but it has been uncomfortable, sort of like mild pin pricks in random places on my body.
I'm going back to the doctor's office tomorrow since they told me to expect it to get a lot better by tomorrow. I'd be surprised if it gets better but it definitely has gotten worse.

My Doctor said I needed a different BP med since my pressure while on my diovan was 150/80. Lisinopril was so much cheaper than diovan and I was happy to not be paying 1.00 per pill for diovan. I never had one side effect from Diovan but I believe that all the symptoms I have been having in the last 12 days is because of Lisinopril. I started Lisinopril on 8/20 and by Oct 1st I was in bad health. First I had the cough start, I have coughed so much I walked around with cough drops in my mouth all the time trying to keep from coughing. Coughing kept me awake at night. Sometimes I would cough so much I would start choking and start gagging. Then 12 days ago I started have pin pricks on the bottom of my feet and horrible cramps in my feet and legs. Then I started having the dizzy feeling that would come and go. Sometimes I would get so dizzy while sitting down that I felt like I was about to pass out. It felt like blackness was creeping in on me and my vision would start to go black. I had terrible pain in my back on my left side and suffocations feelings in my neck. My doctor never even brought up that maybe I was suffering from side effects from this BP med. instead he sent me for a heart echo and stress test. With a heart monitor used for 24 hours also. Cardiologist said everything looked fine. I told him that I had just been put on Lisinopril about 30 days ago but he never said maybe that could be the problem. I don't understand how any Dr can be so uninformed about a medicine. Why didn't anyone mention that what I was feeling could be medicine induced. I have been scared to death I was having a heart attack or had a blocked artery and was going to stroke. Unbelievable to me. I am so glad I found this website. It validates what I was thinking. I stopped the lisinopril yesterday when a friend said his dad had symptoms like mine when taking this BP med.
Actually felt better today, no passing out feeling, felt like cleaning my house again. And the cough is almost non existent tonight. I changed myself back to my diovan since I had a few left and will talking to my doctor Monday about all this.

I took Lisinopril for 3 months. Symptoms gradually got worse: eyes watered, nose dripped, ears itched, puffiness under eyes, hair loss, tired all the time, body was very tense, night sweats, couldn't sleep well, and started having sharp pains like pin pricks. The doctor said to stop Lisinopril and switch to Cozaar (for Losartan). I didn't want to start another medication until I got this out of my system, so I stopped Lisinopril 4 days ago. My symptoms started to subside in about 3 days, but then I started to get horrible cramps behind my thighs. For 2 days now the pain keeps me awake at night...I can't get comfortable. At 11:00 p.m. tonight I had to take 1 Lisinopril to "wean" off this horrible drug. I don't have hypertension, but was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes--so the medicine is supposed to "protect" my kidneys. Does anyone know whether Cozaar is any better? I hate taking meds!

I have been on it for two months due to severe psoriatic arthritis. I'm taking the max infusions every four weeks, methotrexate injections and prednisone. I'm tired, sleepy, sweaty and somewhat nuts a lot. However, after last week infusion, I have some type of rash-little red dots that feel like pin pricks that itch somewhat. I feel like a thousand fleas are attacking me all at one time! Has anyone had this type of feeling? PLEASE reply-it is driving me nuts.

In November, 2007, we moved to a new house. I immediately developed a terrible cough, which I attributed to new house construction dust, plus I had started spending 4 days a week at our cabin in the woods, which tends to be damp and moldy. I just figured my allergies were really kicking in. The doctor treated me for a "sinus infection" with antibiotics and codeine cough syrup. Over the next three months, with no improvement in the violent coughing spells, the doctor ran me through 2 more rounds of antibiotics, plus 2 rounds of steroids.

I sing in a competitive choral group and were preparing to travel to Italy for an international choral competition. The terrible coughing was really messing up my rehearsals and the concerts that we had to do prior to leaving for Italy. Since November, I've probably been through 6-8 bottles of Tussionex. That is the only relief I can get from the cough, especially at night, and for concerts. I know the druggist has me on a list somewhere as an excessive cough syrup user.

Then my doctor sent me to an allergist, who administered the 80 pin pricks, concluding that I'm allergic to grasses, dust, mold, summer trees, etc. So she started me on nasal spray, fexofenadine, and singulair. AND weekly allergy shots.

Anyway, it has been CONSTANT COUGHING since November. When I went back for my 2 month check up at the allergist, I told her my symptoms had not changed, still couging, coughing, coughing. She looked at my chart and said, "You know, I see that you take Lisinopril. That can sometimes cause cough." She asked when the coughing started, and when I started taking the drug. NOVEMBER, 2007 was the answer to both questions. YOU ARE KIDDING ME!!! AFTER ALL I'VE BEEN THROUGH WITH THIS, WHY DID MY REGULAR DR NOT SUGGEST THIS?????

Needless to say, I've quit the Lisinopril, then my regular doctor put me on Tekturna (which also has cough as a side effect.) I'm going to quit all of them for a while and see if the cough stops after all this junk is out of my system.

It has been a nightmare!!!

I started taking Lisinopril-5MG on 1/9/06. I did not notice any side-effects immediately as I was also recovering from double ear infection, cold and cough. The general, miserable feeling gradually became worse within a week. I was also on TOPROL XL 50mg and HCT 25mg. I later ditched the Toprol due to feelings of depression and nightmares and was switched to Benicar 20mg. Well...2-3 wks. later, I suddenly noticed I was coughing more than I did when I was ill prior to starting my medications. The incessant coughing is painful and very annoying. It later caused me to feel nauseated and I would vomit one to twice a day due to so much coughing. There is that constant salty taste--the phlegm and mucus tasted salty. Ick!!! My throat is still sore! I feel like I have a papercut injury from the hacking cough. That "tickle" in the throat really feels more like pin pricks!!! You cough so hard your head hurts and start leaking urine. That's another thing....I inadvertently developed stress incontinence from forceful coughs. Great...now I should be in diapers too :P

I never felt so MISERABLE in my entire life. I am glad to have found this board and read other people's experiences. I, too, have suffered the same side-effects. I thought my symptoms were psychosomatic. I didn't want to complain to the PA too much, so I thought I should grin and bear it for a bit longer until my body gets used to the meds. I've been generally healthy all my life except for 3 pregnancies in which I would later develop preeclampsia. My bp went back to normal after delivery. I'm 37 and now my bp seems to be up and down, which is why the PA prescribed the meds. I probably should have tried to bargain first :) I could have gone on a diet and lose some wt. Maybe the HBP can be controlled. (pipe dream, lol) My only consolation is that my cholesterol is good (160). That's one less risk of heart disease.

Anyway, I should have stopped taking these NASTY pills two weeks earlier but I thought I'd give it another chance....plus, I just refilled my Rx because we went on vacation! What a waste, but I finally wisened-up and stopped taking Lisinopril last Sun., 2/12. But from what I gather here.....it seems like the symptoms can linger a lot longer than a few weeks. I wonder too if there are any irreversible damage done. The PA told me to call back in two weeks if the symptoms persist. She previously offered to give me rx for codeine, but I refused. I tried otc cough suppressant but that didn't solve it. I just can't fathom taking any more new drugs at this point. I FEEL WORN OUT! I hope my bp will continue to stay normal with just HCT and Benicar.

Like majority of the people writing in this forum, I am SO EXTREMELY happy that I found this website. I switched over to Yasmin from Estrostep about 4 months ago now. Only 3 weeks into taking my first Yasmin pack I experienced my first ever full-blown panic attack and at all places, while taking off on an airplane. Ever since this attack I had multiple people telling me that I was acting "different" than normal. Since this I experienced 1 other anxiety attack along with almost everyday experiencing irrational thoughts and constant anxiety. I do not think one day went by where I thought I was going to die from some outside source. Also in these last 4 months, my fiance has told me that he's noticed that I'm not the same and that I cry at least once a day and become very defensive and aggitated with him at the drop of a hat. While running a couple of times I began experiencing what felt like pin pricks starting from my left arm all the way down into my left leg. My heart seemed to be beating abnormally and my breathing became shallow. I recently have also began having the WORST indigestion.
Until I found this website I thought my constant anxiety, panic attacks, irrational thoughts, moodiness and other physical symptoms were just something I had actually became as a person. I thought I would never be the same person because I thought I had become this horrible, crazy person that no one would want to be around. Just yesterday I called my doctor to request trying my old birth control to see if these effects could possibly be coming from Yasmin. After reading the postings here I KNOW that they are from Yasmin! It makes me angry that I have been subjected to these kinds of symptoms. I am a cautious consumer and did research on Yasmin before even beginning on the pill. However, I did not find this website soon enough. Since taking Yasmin I have been under the impression that my life would always be anxiety-ridden and it could only get worse! Tomorrow I will be calling my doctor again to find out more information about starting my Estrostep as soon as possible and getting off Yasmin FOREVER!
My question is for anyone who has/had only been taking Yasmin for about 4-5 months or less and how long after that the symptoms finally started fading away. I really am afraid that my anxiety will continue with me for awhile and I HATE this feeling!!
Thank you for everyone who has contributed to this forum. I would have continued thinking I was the only one and that I was crazy. In fact, the people who are crazy are those who do not inform consumers of these side effects! These are SEVERE side effects that we are not even warned about...and why aren't we?
Once again thank you for posting! And for those of you who have not experienced these symptoms I realize that every body is different and reacts in different ways, but please realize that these symptoms that people like myself have experienced because of this pill are almost debilitating. I would not wish this on my worst enemy!
