I have been on Yaz for a few weeks. The side effects are awful. I am 31 and haven't been on BCP's since 1999. I sat down with my NP to explore different options for dealing with my terrible periods and she thought Yaz was the answer.
Well I have averaged about 4 hours of sleep a night since starting it. Because Yaz is like a diuertic I am up peeing all night as well.I feel anxious and panicky. Normally I am very laid back but feel like I am going nuts.The thing that drives me the most crazy is having restless legs while lying in bed. Time to get my potassium checked? I will be stopping this med as nothing should make you feel this bad. Not worth it.As a nurse I would never tell my patients to take this. I feel like an idiot for starting a pill that 1000's of women on the internet are complaining about.Of course you would never see the positive comments. But this pill sucks!

I went to the dentist to have three old fillings replaced, he administered a shot to each side of my lower jaw, telling me he was injecting it directly into the jaw bone itself instead of the nerve. I also experienced an enormous reaction, heart racing, felt like I was loosing consciousness. The dentist noticed my reaction, had the assistant put a cold towel on my head. But after I recovered, he administered more on the other side! The whole reaction started again, this time more intense. The effect lasted for over an hour, I had to wait in the office before I felt ready to drive home. I will insist on a full explanation of what is being administered next time, and if the dentist objects, I will leave the chair.

I've been on Zocor since December for high cholestorol, 20 mg. In july, after blood work, it had no effect on cholestorol so my cardiologist, increased dose to 40mg. I don't have the muscle issues described here, but I noticed in August, my eyes have become extremely dry and I can't cry. They are so dry especially at night. I've been on allergy and asthma meds for 2 years now- but those prerscriptions haven't changed. Also, taking zoloft for depression- that was increased also after my car accident in Dec. I don't know if this is a new problem or a result of meds- If anyone has this problem please write. I've changed jobs, my insurance now stinks and can't afford to see my doctors at the present time.

My husband was diagnosed with MS 2 1/2 years ago. He has been on Lipitor for about 1 year. Within the past 4 months, his walking has gotten worse. Where it used to be just his right leg, now it is his left as well. Severe leg cramps, fatigue -which could be the MS - trouble keeping balance - also could be MS - lower back aches, slurred speach and memory loss. I know alot of these are associated with MS but after reading all the other letters, I am beginning to wonder if his walking has gotten worse due to the Lipitor. He used to have trouble walking but with a cane, could go for miles. Now he can't even walk 15 minutes without almost falling. A friend of ours stopped taking the Lipitor and felt better within 1 week. I am hoping the same happens to my husband. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories.

I had a shot of kenalog in my knee for a problem I have when I run long distances. I was told that it would have a 50% chance of helping but it could prevent surgeries. He never mentioned side effects. After the injection- my period came a week late and lasted three days longer than normal. Four days after it ended I got another period. This one was accompanied by severe headaches(I never get headaches) This period lasted another nine days. I went for my follow up and questioned the doctor about it and he said he must have forgotten to mention it but that it can cause some hormone irregularities but that it should go away within a month. I have been so exhuasted and barely able to function. It was five days since my last period and now I got another one today! I am furiouse because I was trying to get pregnant! Now I am freaking out because I am seeing on this sight how long this can really last!
After all of us have had these same problems you think we would be able to sue the company. What can we do becuase I'm on board if you all want to have a class action law suit. How do we start it?

My husband was given a sample of this for a month-long bout of bronchitis and we are now thinking it has done permanent damage to his vocal chords. He only used it 5 times, got thrush (yeast infection) in his throat and is still hoarse after a week of being off of it. Does anyone know the history of this drug and has the word "class action lawsuit" crossed anyone's mind besides mine? I am amazed at the way pharmaceutical companies run the healthcare business in this country!
I don't want to go off on a rant here, but are people aware that a large portion of the FDA's operating budget is provided by pharmaceutical manufacturers? This isn't our first experience with this type of thing and I'm about to launch a grassroots campaign to educate the public. Maybe they'll stop believing all the marketing hype.
I'm thinking that the pharmaceutical companies ought to heed the Hippocratic oath - FIRST, DO NO HARM. Wouldn't it be a remarkably different world if they would take all the money they're spending on marketing and use it to lower the price of orphan and AIDS drugs? They keep saying that research is expensive - and advertising on every possible television show, radio and magazines is cheap? Hello? Are we going to be sheep or are we going to be citizens and hold these companies responsible for what they're doing. Thanks for letting me vent. Please contact me if you want to do something about this. And no, I'm not an attorney, but I'm a writer and I think I just found out what my first book is going to be about...

I have a history of stomach problems (H. pylori infections and acid reflux) and was doing great until I started the nuva ring. Since then, I get sick every night- my stomach hurts and i feel nauseous and I just feel cruddy. I don't know if these things are connected- anyone else have stomach pain with the ring? I also tried to skip a period with the ring and my period has been going on for a week now, when it usually lasts about 4 days. grrrrrrr...

i find it incredible the yasmin and yaz are both marketed for the treatment of pms and pmdd. it gave me most of the symptoms and more that it states it can help! i wonder how they came to the conclusion it cure many pms symptoms???? i had no problems at all before i went onto yasmin,i had never suffered anxiety or depression before. i am really quite concerned that this is being prescribed to women who are already in quite a bad hormonal situation,this drug can make it sooo much worse!

Flowerbabies,
You mentioned in your last posting about how to deal with anxiety attacks, specifically replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. When you said this about negative thoughts, I knew it was time to ask this. I am so ashamed to ask this question, because I have not told anyone this in detail, but has anyone else had very grim or violent thoughts? I mean thoughts that you would NEVER think normally? It is getting a lot better for me - I do not have them as much anymore but sometimes a very violent or graphic image will pop into my head for no reason, and I will get scared and think "Why is my brain thinking this awful thing?" I usually always get a panic attack after these thoughts, because I am afraid I am going crazy. I am a very sensitive person and do not expose myself to violent images, so these thoughts that I feel like are happening to me - instead of me controlling what I am thinking - scare me half to death. It has taken me 2 months to ask this question on here because I am so ashamed. I do want to add though that in general I feel much much better, and these thoughts do not appear as often as they used to. I am assuming the reason for this is lack of serotonin production in the brain or at least my hormones/brain/chemicals trying to get back on track, etc., which I am trying to combat with valerian, vitamin b supplements, etc. Anyway, am I the only one with thoughts such as this? Please please please write back if you have experienced this hell.

I am a 25 year old healthy female. I was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection that I made worse by flying while infected. I was terribly sick and my ears were swollen. My DR prescribed Levaquin 500MG for 10 days. I am on day 5, and despite the fact that I am feeling better, I am concerned because I am experiencing severe abdominal pains and have been for 3 days. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, please write and let me know what it possibly is. Please email me: ******
Also- the first three days I took Levaquin I felt compleatly drunk and/or high. This would have been a delight in college, but now it caused me to miss even more work and endanger myself by driving. I suggest taking it (if you have no choice) before you go to bed.

I have also developed a trigger finger on my right hand and since so many others have mentioned this problem I would like to know if anyone who stopped the Zocor sometime ago has experienced improvement as I was sent to a hand specialist who suggested a cortisone shot or surgery. I am not ready for either at this point.
Thanks for any info on this. I hate to think that this condition won't go away after the Zocor is out of my system.
****** Please write trigger finger for subject

HOW CAN WE START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE MAKER OF LEVAQUIN FOR THE PAIN AND SUFFERING THAT IT HAS CAUSED?????????????????????????
I took levaquin over a year ago for the treatment of Lyme disease. I have not been able to have a normal nights sleep since. I am told that I go directly in REM sleep and this is why the dreams are so vivid and unrestful. We need to stop this drug from being on the market. The drug companies think that they can get away with anything to get their drugs out there. Please help us stop them. They are killing us!

It is very interesting. I went to the doctor about a month ago comlaining of severe drowsiness, fatigue and lack of energy. I had just started yasmin, but didn't think anything of it because I have never experienced this before. I thought i had mono, but the doctor did blood work and took a urine samlpe to see if I had mono, was anemic, or was pregnant. They really thought I was pregnant, but I knew there was no way. All the tests came back negative, and I was very confused and upset because I knew something was very wrong with me. I have finally pieced it all together, It was due to Yasmin. I had started the pill and within a week I experienced these awful sid effects. I am now mortified, I quit my job b/c I felt so sick and I thought I was getting stressed out from school and working. I am definately getting off this pill, and for anyone who has experienced these side effects, get off the pill as soon as possible. I was miserable and everyone thought it was all in my head. I now know that yasmin was the reason for my feeling so sick. Please write on this site if you have experienced this too. I am very curious if other women felth the same way soon after starting Yasmin.

After realizing my doctor has absolutely no clue what is wrong with me (therefore how to help me), I began to do some research on the web for my symptoms.
I, too, have been on levaquin. I finished it just about a week ago. I was also on flagyl at the same time. Besides yet another yeast infection, I have noticed several disturbing side effects as well. I too was prescribed xanax for anxiety...but was this prescription for xanax prescribed to keep me "calm" during my hospital stay? Or was it to try to delay the reactions I may have, and indeed didmay actually currently be suffering with, in the end be due to Levaquin? I do not know. I do know I have been wired and wiped out....both witihin 15 minute time frames. I do know that I thoguth I was going through the "dt's" after stoping the Xanax...but was it the Levaquin that did this too me...I stopped both at the same time. I have an ear infection...two actually...lol...and a sinus infection and am now on Zithromax. How any infection could live in my body after being on practically every antibiotic known to mankind for the past two, three, months....is beyond me and my quacko doctors comprehension.
So now, the pneumonia is ebbiing..the ears and sinus are horrible....I have a broken tooth that hurts like hell...the joints of my lips are raw, my tongue is burning and I am still miserable. BUT...I will conqueor this too...with help from you.
Any suggestions?

My doctor prescribed me Yasmin, but I wanted to do research before I began the pill. One of the reason's my doctor prescribed it to me was to 'regulate' my mood swings. This web site totally contradicts everything that the doctor had told me. I am terrified of taking this pill now. He would not prescribe me an anti-depreeant like Zoloft because I wanted to be on the pill anyways, and he said that Yasmin should work for pregnancy prevention as well as balance my hormones. I don't have any idea about what to do now. If there is anyone that has the same weight and body type as me with the same mild mood swings and iritablity as me (very mild)prior to beginning Yasmin and have been taking Yasmin for quite a while.....then please write with your experiences. It would really help me out in my decision. I know that everyone's bodies and hormone levels/balances are different...so most will have different effects from the same medication; but, for the most part, if Yasmin only creates negative side effects in everyone that I speak with then I will reconsider taking this medication. (I would also like any positive side effects of Yasmin as well) Thank you! * weight= 111 lbs.
* height= 5'5
* breast size= 34D to DD (depends on time
of month)
* mood= normally happy/bubbly with mild
mood swings where I will get unhappy
and irritable for no reason.
* No major health issues/concerns

was put on toprol 25mgs. one year ago by my heart doctor, for tachycardia which only happened after stress. soon thereafter i developed a numbness in the toes of both feet. i saw my my intrenist who didnt know what it was from. i left the country and was livinf abroad until aug 07. while ther the paresthesia of my toes got worse and started traveling up my foot and half of my calf. saw my internist and was advised to see a neurolgist. he put me thru a series of blood test and an emg. all came up negative. went back to the internist and asked her to review my records from sept 2006. first thing she noticed was that i had been started on toprol. she told me one of the side effects is paresthesia of the feet and or hands, and advised me to cut the dose in half for a few weeks and then in half again in a effort to wean me off of it. its been only 3 days since i began to cut down and already the numbness is starting to decrease. has any one else experienced this? does it go entirely away? please write. hopefull
