I took Lisinopril for 1 day I had a heart attack the next day. I had not missed any of my meds, and was changed to Lisinopril because of the price of Benicar. I had the same side effects and still have the sore throat.
It's been about 3 weeks since the heart attack

When I first started taking lisinopril, I had several episodes of dizziness and almost fainted. That was when I looked up the side effects and was alarmed to find out that it is made from the venom of a poisonous snake from Brazil. I stopped taking it for several months, but my blood pressure kept climbing, so finally decided to give it another try. It didn't give me any problems at first. Just before Christmas last year, I had a bad cough and congestion, for which the doctor prescribed antibiotics and cough syrup with codeine. The antibiotics did nothing for it, but the cough syrup finally gave me some relief. Since then, the congestion got a little better, then worse, with the good spells lasting only a few days, compared to the coughing getting worse and worse. Finally when my throat was very wheezy with every breath, I decided to check the symptoms of lisinopril again. I called my doctor and told her I wanted to go off of it and see if it helped. That was 10 days ago. My throat is clear now, but I still have a lot of lung congestion. The crazy thing is that my blood pressure kept going up in spite of taking lisinopril. I've been taking atenolol for years, and now the dr put me on lovaza, which brought my blood pressure down to normal within a day.
Another thing when I was taking lisinopril, I began to wonder if I had fibromyalgia because I had so much pain all over my body. I don't know it the lisinopril caused that, but I don't feel nearly as much pain since I quit taking it.

My nurse said I had 172 systolic and then the next day that I had 151 BP.
So she put me on this lisinopril.I started with 20mg but after feeling groggy in the mornings was put on 10mg. Two weeks later for a follow up a nurse found I had 134 BP. The doctor concluded that the medication was working. He said people have been taking that for over 10 years without problems and that it was better than Beta blockers. Supposedly this was good to prevent future problems.
Well I still was feeling groggy in the mornings and when I tested my pressure with 3 different home testing kits my BP was around 90 - 110.
I stopped taking Lisinopril but continued to feel withdrawal symptoms the next day. Funny head feelings and not feeling good.
Now I am feeling more normal again. I bought an electronic stethoscope to test my BP myself. There is something fishy about that junk and when you find out Lisinopril was derived from a poisonous snake venom you just have to wonder! I am just saying that for my experience I don't like it and I can control my pressure with better vegetarian diets. My BP went up about 20 points after eating at McDonalds!

Mom is 80 and was always a go getter. Now her life has been in shambles with taking the Lisinopril. This drug is made from Brazilian poisonous snake venom. Hard to believe that this is being out to treat folks. Anyway, Mom went down after three months on this stuff. Her mind was always good and her memory sharp until her Physician put her on this stuff. Now, her hands go numb, mainly at night. Her breathing is hard and extreme fatigue. We almost lost her last week from a spike in her blood pressure, she was still on the Lisinopril by the way. 911 was called and they worked to get her blood pressure down. She was hauled to the hospital twice. The doctor could not find a thing. Ha ha. They never once thought to take her off the Lisinopril, even though it showed no effectiveness against the blood pressure spikes. She is scared to get off this mess. They now have upped the dose double and put her on an additional blood pressure patch, dizzy pills and an anti anxiety drug. All this due to this venom that she is ingesting. Has anyone had stroke like symptoms with this medicine? Also, her hands go numb and she cannot sleep. She has had hallucinations of people sitting and talking during the night. What a terrible thing for the FDA to approve!

I've been taking Lisinopril for about 6 months and have never really feel right since...For the past week though, I have been feeling the worst I have ever felt..I have headaches, abdominal pain, dizziness, numbness or tingling in my arms and some on my head..Stiffness in my neck that makes my head feel really weird...Because of these side effects I have made my doctor change my meds...I just hope that his will fix what is wrong with me..By the way, I also read that Lisinopril was made from a poisonous snake in Brazil..Thats just great isn't it!!....

i am 20 year old male with high blood pressure. i have been on lisinopril for about 3 months and since i started taking it my sinus is always clogged, i get mad for no reason, i flip out on my friends and coworkers, i don't care about stuff, i say stuff i normally wouldn't even think, i feel depressed randomly, i cough really bad for a few minutes after i eat a meal, and am very tired all the time for little or no reason. i am planing on stopping the medication as soon as i can talk to my doctor but i don't have much free time to drive across town and am afraid to stop taking it on my own with out letting her know.
