I have just started lyrica and read on different sites and its main site before i decided for myself to take it since im in constant pain from multiple accidents i have fbro- and lumbar and disc back problems etc, yo get anyway i have tried a lot of different meds for pain yo name it almost tried it, i found the best thing that worked for me was one vicodin es plus one 75mg lyrica, my pain subsides for hours by at least 50% i can actually do a lot more since i have started it and even lost four pounds since last week. I read a lot of people gain weight, get swollen feet, feel drunkish all that, the only time i feel like that is when i take the lyrica with my xxnax i have anxiety disorder as well very bad. ADHD . If i dint have to take pills believe me i wouldn't..But as all pills narcotic and narcotic they only mask the pain, my brother informed me since i can do more take it a little slow baby steps cause if you over exert your self your pain is 6 times worst.I have lost 89 pounds so far HOORAH! Just 40 more to go, baby steps..lol..anyhow i could talk all day, i try to keep a positive attitude which helps, god and prayer help, and try to walk around without a chip on my shoulder because i don't feel because if im miserable everyone else shouldn't be, ya know ..Its not rgt. Cripe if i was rich i would be waited on hand and foot but unfortunately im not rich and could never afford that unless i won and played the lotto.lol..i had to even get samples from a different doctor other than my regular doctor cause he girls were messing up in the office or Michigan State was, which lately they are changing all there systems and messing alot of low income people up, and that blows too..I will continue will lyrica...It works better than neurontin which gave me headaches, and weigh gain and nausea. I actually on neutrontin gained 10 pounds in 5 days, i quit NEURONTIN! Lyrica is really good, everyones body chemistry is different so, give it a try it might just work as good as it does for me. Thanks for listening and feel free to write me anytime here, thanks! Skully725

I've been searching for answers on LONG TERM side effects of Lupron hoping that it could give me answers as to what's going on in my body now!
23 yrs ago my fertility dr. gave me Lupron to inject MYSELF EVERY DAY (experimental back then). I had SEVERE endo since the age of 16 and was fighting that as well as trying to get pregnant thru invetro. I was 26. At 29 I had an emergency hysto. Now at 48plus I have chronic tendonitis where the tendons will shred off of the joints. I have been diagnosed with C spine and T spine disease, osteoarthritis and a mystery that I'm going to have to go to the Mayo to figure out (hopefully). I have tumors that are growing in my lower back...growing around nerves, tendons and bone, They aren't sure why they are there, why they are growing, or even what they are. Surgery removed 2 of them...but pathology shows foreign matter other than tissue/bone. All they DO know is that it is not cancer. One year ago I started losing weight (25 pds) for no reason. I'm now holding my own at 112 and hoping to figure all of this out. I can't help but wonder if Lupron or any other experimental drugs I was on has something to do with this. Is there anyone out there that used this drug so long ago??

I am a 31 year old mother of a beautiful 13 month old daughter. From the age of 15 to age 23 I was on a birth control pill (I do not remember which one...I think it was Ortho Tri-Cyclen.). When I decided to stop taking the pill at age 23, I noticed a HUGE change in my personality. I felt much better/happier and had an increased sex drive. Going forward, I decided not to take hormones if I could help it.

Prior to the birth of my daughter, we tried the diaphram with spermicide and I had a reaction to the spermicide. My boyfriend would lose his erection any time we tried condoms. I did try the NuvaRing (hormones) and HATED that; it made me feel like my head was going to explode. I ended up pregnant, had my daughter and, after the birth of my daughter, tried the copper IUD. My body rejected that and it was a bad experience. I felt like I had no other choice, but to try the birth control pill again. I approached it with a positive attitude and was hopeful.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH LOESTRIN 24:

Dear women and concerned spouses,

Today is the sixth day I have been on Loestrin 24. I started taking YAZ and had diarrhea so bad that I had to switch after day two of taking the YAZ product. On day three, I started Loestrin 24 and (like I said previously) have been on it for almost a week. I went from being energetic, happy and sensual to the polar opposite.

The signs of depression and anxiety were almost immediate, but I was trying to give it a chance. It is not worth it to me any longer, as I have been upset with my boyfriend and crying almost every day. You might think it is coincidence, but it is not. I know my body and my mind; this behavior is not me. I have not been reacting rationally and I have been extremely emotional. I am an emotional person to some degree, but this is REDICULOUS. I have a constant feeling of irrational fear in our relationship and severe anxiety. I am aware enough to recognize that these feelings are not natural and that something is wrong and the problem is NOT with me.

The first day I took Loestrin 24, I had the shakes and felt very cold. Anxiety accomodated these physical effects. The second day of taking the YAZ product, I noticed a cramp in my right leg. By the time I was into my second day of Loestrin 24, I felt an aching in both my legs and lower back pain...both of which have NOT gone away. My periond stopped by the second day on YAZ, but started again with the first pill of Loestrin 24. This may be due to a change in pills, but it has not stopped since.

If you or someone you know is experiencing sadness and unusual behavior, or even a relapse in depression, the birth control pill may have something to do with it. I have been doing quite a bit of research on all birth control pills and the effects of depression that they have on women. I am speaking from experience and, so far, Loestrin 24 has been the worst at causing me symptoms of fear, depression, anxiety and just an overall helpless feeling. These leg cramps have me fearing blood clots, as well. Some of the other women on here have noted these leg and back pains, as well.

If I could find a non-hormonal solution to birth control (other than abstinence) I would use it.

Some women do fine on the pill and, obviously, some do not. I say, "Give it a try!", but listen to your body and that little voice in your head telling you that something might be wrong...it is usually right.

No serious side effects. I want to add my experience as I see everyone
here has a side effect. I am always wary about medication, and I have taken
statins mainly Zocor and Lipitor off and on for 10 years or so. I have familial
hypercholesterolemia, so diet hasn't helped much, and I have tried all kinds
of food supplements etc. I do take CoQ10 based on reports I have read, not from any side effect. If there are any side effects its not significant that I can
notice it. Sometimes I am forgetful, hard to say if its caused by the drug, as
the times I have been off it, has been much different.

I wonder if high cholesterol is a real problem, I wonder if high triglycerides are worse? Lately I found what seems like an improvement by eliminating high glycemic foods like rice and replacing with barley and oats. Barley also has some fiber and other things that are apparently helpful. Grapefruit is also helpful, but there is a warning not to take it, if you are already taking statins. Based on all this side effects reported here, I feel I might need to try once again, to try an alternative. I am maintaining my 10mg Lipitor, though I had been planning to move back to Zocor as its cheaper for me. I will take a test
in 2 months to test my current barley diet, and recent exercise routine to see
what improvements can happen. Then if successful, I might get off statins,
maintain the non-glycemic diet, exercise and in addition take a lot of grapefruit and a reasonable dose of niacin.

In the past I have tried ginger, garlic, Chinese herbs, and more then I can list here without much help. Occasionally I had been surprised by low readings,
once when I had come back from a 10 day meditation retreat. I have read that cholesterol can change due to stress, and this is a very variable thing. I have
taken lab tests within 2 days from the same lab and seen almost 20% difference (with fasting). I think each body is different and one needs to take a very long term, positive attitude of experimenting and not feeling discouraged too much, but always reading and trying different things and being careful of how you interpret the results.

I would rather ignore the high cholesterol, except my brother died at 65 from cardiac issues, but he also had diabetes. I am now 51.

I just wanted to give an alternative perspective to the comments on this board.

I've been on Yaz for two months, and I'm very happy with it. The first week or so wasn't great: weird muscle aches, fatigue, lightheadedness occasionally. I had light brownish discharge/spotting for about a week. The second week I had some striking headaches, and over the first two weeks I lost 10 pounds (water weight).

But since then it's been smooth sailing. My period came exactly on time and lasted about 2.5 days. I no longer have any symptoms besides breast tenderness (akin to what my breasts felt like before my period, before).

So - keep in mind when you're reading these negative comments that usually the happy folks don't feel the need to post!

I was given 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days for a rash and joint pain.
The pain went away and I felt great the rash got a little better. Two days ago I took my last pill. I woke up that night and my knees gave out. By morning I was great! Next night I woke with knee problem again had to slide down the stairs to the living room. I got to wondering if the knee thing could be associated with the Prednisone. I got on line and read all this terrible stuff. I am so Horrified! Today I am in pain like my body is bruised and my face is swollen a little. I have acid reflux as well. Non of this is typical for me. My knee thing is ok again, but I am just appalled! I have no MED insurance. I hope this isn't the beginning of worse things I am not taking that drug now. The Dr. didn't say I needed to taper...

I hope I have not damaged myself by taking this drug! My heart goes out to all of you! My question is - Why are the Dr.'s prescribing this terrible drug?

PLEASE READ THIS! UPDATE FROM ROCCO21ELM

I suffered terrible joint/muscle pain after taking Levaquin for 9 days. After reading all the posts here I was terrified that it was going to be an ongoing problem but it's been about a month now and the pain is nearly gone completely. Worry and fear seem only make the pain so much worse!
Pleae go to the doctor for a blood test. If everything comes back negative then you can relax. I suggest a proper diet, (AVOID foods known to cause inflammation and eat more foods that are anti inflammatory! Stretching in the morning, and swimming in warm water, hot baths help, and above all else, have a positive attitude. It goes a long way!! Good luck to all of you.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in April of this year (2007) kind of by accident through a routine checkup. I had gained a bit of weight over the past two years, but that was really my only symptom. I was begun on 75 mcg of a generic brand of Synthroid, levothyroxine. Since I began this medication, I have rapidly gained another 15 pounds despite a 1,000 calorie per day diet. I retain fluid horribly. My ankles, wrists, hands and face swell daily. My muscles ache, especially my legs, upon walking across a room. I'm fatigued, short of breath. My LDL cholesterol level has skyrocketed in only three months and now I'm being told I need to be on a statin drug. I cry frequently and feel uncharacteristically anxious and irritable, but this could be due to the frustration I am experiencing with the loss of my sense of well-being. In essence, I felt much better before being placed on the medication. I may, in fact, discontinue the medication totally and see if over time I begin to feel better. Like so many other stories I'm hearing, my doctor seems totally unconcerned.

Ladies,
I have had trouble posting on this site and HOPE and pray this one goes through! I have suffered TERRIBLY from this horrible drug, the most prominent side effect has been the unabated weight gain, which got WORSE after going off this HORRIBLE pill(my opinion!). I registered my complaint with both BERLAX LABS and the FDA. If anyone wants to write me directly use THIS email address and I can give you instructions on doing BOTH(I am unable to retrieve my password from this site which I have forgotten and had to REregister on my other email address):*****

Also, I have been working with a MEDICAL INTUITIVE for 3 weeks now. I worked with her for 6 months over the phone, to stem the tide of a chronic ailment and she was incredibly helpful. If anyone is interested in an ALTERNATIVE approach to breaking the cycle of this drug, I HIGHLY recomend working with someone like this. Oprah often has Carolyn Myss, a medical intuitive, on her show. I'd be happy to share this info as well. I have seen significant changes in my overall outlook(which this drug PRAYS on - having a negative, depressive attitude), and the way my body feels. We are now working on the weight gain piece of the puzzle, which will come as my hormones are more in balance. I only took YASMIN for 5 month and experienced bloating and weight gain by month 2(along with the persistent migraines and leg cramps), but the weight continued to SPIKE once going off. I have been off 4 months next week and am doing my best to keep a positive attitude, which I KNOW is very hard to do when you look and feel like someone else is in your body and your clothes don't fit, etc., etc.

I feel your pain; no question.

Another FURIOUS YASMIN user.
Rita

Trailblazin,

Thank you for the heartfelt post! I feel horrible and I apologize that we got off on such a bad note too!! Let's put it all behind us ok?

I am 41, female and I do research within the medical field.

I feel so bad for you Trail, and moreso for the way I came across at first. What a terrible ordeal you've endured!! I'm just thankful that you are ok now and on the road to recovery. I know it won't be easy, but I have faith in you. You'll do just fine!

I know it's off the subject here, but how is your diabetes?
Did the new pancreas alleviate it? You mentioned a book about jump starting the pancreas...so I'm alittle lost here..lol.
It sounds as if this man might know a thing or two, I'd be really interested in the name of the book, if we can reveal things like that here.
My mom has Type 2. I started her on a few good supplements and it's helping, but I'd love to see her totally off the glucophage.
I worry about her liver more then anything, but as with you, the kidney/pancreas is of concern also.

I really hope you find some ways to help your insomnia and everything else that came with the prednisone therapy. Medication can have some really toxic effects on some of us but thankfully we usually recover from them.
Your positive outlook is absolutely admirable to me, especially after everything you've gone through.
The things I've seen in my field and some of the things I've gone through in my own life have really altered my way of belief.
For me, I will back with my whole being that; positive attitude, the will to survive, mind over matter, and faith are a few of the strongest medical properties/medicines in the world. Your the prime example of this.

Hope your having a great, pain free, peaceful day Trail!!
Thank you again for your heartfelt post, you really made my day! :)

I am 32 years old and taking Lupron shots prescribed by my OBGYN doctor. I want everyone to know that Lupron effects everyone differently. Different doses can make the difference too. Mothers out their that are having problems having a baby don't worry about Lupron. Just ask your Doctor and Nurse every question you want and need about Lupron. So far I have had hot flashes. But heck it'll let me know what I have to look forward to as an elderly woman. If you really think about it. Every medicine in the world has some sort of side effect. A positive attitude is something I strongly recommend to you all while taking Lupron shots. I can't speak for the men, but for women going through IVF or something similar to have a baby I can. I am trying to have a baby and though sometimes the shots burn or tingle... I keep in mind the little bundle of joy I may get to bring home. So please keep in mind to follow your doctor orders closely. If you feel you need a second doctors advise please do so. Lupron if takin correctly can be helpful. Lupron stopped without a doctor knowing can be scary and painful. Your doctor should be able to help you while you are on or off Lupron. Other wise change your Doctor right away! Go to an ER! God Bless you all and best of luck with your Lupron.

Hi -- I've been posting on this site for awhile, but I had to switch my user name for some reason, it used to be HoovieDoo. Anyway, I am so frustrated with this pill! It's been almost 7 months (next week) that I've been taking it. And the last period that I had was so horrible I thought I was really going to pass out. Right now I'm supposed to be on my period but it's not here! And, I've had a vaginal infection all month, thanks to Yasmin, so I haven't had intercourse = not pregnant.

What really irritates me is that my mom went to her Gyno, and her gyno's nurse practioner is who I see -- but she went to her Gyno with some questions and concerns I had, all he did was tell her all of my side effects were stress related and gave her another, DIFFERENT kind of pill to 'try' for me. I am so frustrated by this it's not even cool. I've tried to have a positive attitude this whole time because I don't want this pill to get the best of me. I'm not sure what to do because my body is, unfortunately, used to Yasmin now, and I don't particularly want to change again. Her gyno also told her he doesn't advise IUD's for women who haven't had children :( hmm... I'm just frustrated.

As for the ladies that are dealing with weight gain after getting off the pill -- I am afraid of the same thing happening to me, as I did not gain, but lose weight while taking Yasmin, I'm not losing anymore, it has leveled off. However, as words of encouragement, it is probably just the change in horomones or it could be water weight, remember that it is a diretic, so now you're body is retaining the water that was once lost -- which will cause 5-10lb weight gain on some days. I don't know, but I know what its like to gain weight quickly and in unwanted places! This happened with me and Alesse & Levlite & Aviane.

Sorry for all the complaining. I needed to get it off my chest and I know my boyfriend, friends, and mom are tired of hearing me complain about how frustrated I am :) I guess it doesn't seem as bad typing. Feel free to email me and we'll chat about all of this crazy mess {******}

Have a good one ~ Aaron

Hi, I'm 23. I have been on Citalopram for 6 days now. I am also taking beta blockers to slow my heart rate due to having panic attacks. I've found that my mood had improved up until yesterday evening, and I've been feeling much calmer and sleeping ok. This may be due to the beta blockers though. The side effects that I have experienced haven't been as bad as they sound. Felt really spaced out for 3 days and my vision was slightly blurry but is improving considerably now. I have been craving sweet things- but that's probably due to my menstrual cycle! Wake up feeling a bit shakey in the morning but after some food I feel fine. I'm really positive about this medication and I think if you keep a positive attitude and don't worry about the side effects, you will be a happy soon enough.

I was prescribed this medication for back spasms. It was my understanding that Ultracet was a non addictive muscle relaxer. It has been my expeirence that this drug is highly addictive. I would get samples from my Dr., and they would seem to run out unusaully fast. When I would stop the medication, I would go through withdrawls for about three days. Irritalbility, not wanting to be in social situations, and not sleeping, are the withdrawls I expeirenced. I would take two to four Ultracet a day. They eliminated my back pain, and allowed me to feel outgoing and social. I had no problem driving, or getting my work done. In fact, it helped me maintain a positive attitude in my stressful world. Well, anything that makes you feel unusually good will eventually do the opposite. I have now been on Ultracet for three months. I finished my refills yesterday, I and not planning on using it again. I have been in AA for four years, and decided to change my sobriety date. The withdrawls for Ultracet are brutal. If you have an addictive personality, and have abused pain medication, I suggest not taking this one.

I have only been on Yasmin for two weeks, but I have had no side effects other than minor spotting. I also heard about iron depletion with birth control pills, so I have started taking Centrum-which has 100% of daily intake of iron (among other things, obviously). My advice is to have a positive attitude about everything, the more you think you're going to get sick, you will get sick! Also, everyone is different and reacts differently to these pills--make sure you eat as healthy as possible and get an adequate amount of exercise! Good luck, ladies!
