I am a reasonably healthy 57 year old male, 6' 1", 220 lbs. I started taking Lisinopril 10mg about 1 year old for HPB. My BP was all over the chart, but averaged at about 160/80. After being on Lisinopril for about 1 week, I noticed that my BP would be about 130/70 in the mornings, but jump back up to about 150/75 in the evenings. I have never achieved the 120/70 range that others talk about. It was also at this time that I developed the tickle and dry cough. I lose sleep by waking up coughing. The cough also comes on at any time, day or night. Sometimes I cough until I feel my head is going to explode. I never cough up anything. Always dry.
Over the last year, I have had other side effects that have come and gone and come back again. Among them have been itchy skin, numbness in fingers and toes, chest pains (EKG's and stress tests were fine), stomach pains, back pain, jaw pain, pounding heartbeat, racing heartbeat, loss of sex drive, erectile dysfunction, vivid dreams (when I sleep), feelings of dread and recurring thoughts of something happening to family members.
Since I do not have any prescription coverage in my insurance, I was happy to find a $4.00 drug, but now that the refills have run out, I think that I will ask the doctor for something else.

Benicar as with all blood pressure lowering drugs causes weakness, numbness, heartburn, leg pain, will affect the eye sight tremendously, and when discontinued of course your bp will soar to new hights. Should with all the others be taken off the market.

Kenalog shot over 1 month ago for allergies. That nite, I had severe muscle aches and headache. Then that went away. The allergies stopped almost immediately (which was great), but I began getting side effects. For about 2wks, I had excessive urination, almost every 30minutes. I also had rapid, pounding heartbeat for about 4wks. My period, which was due one week after the Kenalog shot came 2wks late- was normal. But then my next period came 2wks early, and I am still having it (for 10 days now). I am a person who is ALWAYS regular!! I also noticed anxiety/agitation during the first 4wks. I have also gained 10lbs, although I exercise, eat well.
I hate this drug.

I had a kidney removed due to cancer and was told that it was removed in time before spreading. Now, after experiencing fatigue, it turns out I have some type of Addison's disease (low aldosterone). The doctor told me it may have been caused by the trauma of the surgery when they removed the adrenal gland from the top of the diseased kidney. I am now on Prednisone 180 mg for three days and then weaning off by day nine. I have a pounding heartbeat and can't seem to contain my tears. Has anyone else heard of this type of reaction following nephrectomy? Is this a high dose of Prednisone? I weigh 160lbs.

Shortness of breath and heavy feeling in the chest area, indigestion has increased and a feeling of tiredness and my heart still feels like its coming out of my chest while taking toprol XL 25mg for 3weeks. My MD feels it might be anxiety, but i think its from the toprol. I go back to the MD tomorrow. Prior to my hysterectomy (partial-still have tubes), i did not have high BP and I think my BP is not really high, now. Prior to surgery it was normally anywhere from 115-120/70-80. After the HYS, I went to the ER for shortness of breath and pounding heartbeat. It was found that I had a DVT in my right leg, so they started me on Lovenox injections, which was discontinued and Coumadin 6mg. At the same time I was given toprol 25mg daily due to pounding heartbeat (but still was in range under 100) and Davarcet for pain. I stopped the Darvecet after 2 days of being dc'd. It worked for maybe a couple of day after but by the weekend I was calling the MD again due to shortness of breath abd pounding heartbeat. An ultrasound, ekg, echo of my heart and nothing was taken of while I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Help! anybody experiencing the same feeling?

I took one dose of Toprol XL 25 mg for tachycardia and pounding heartbeat. After just one dose, I had extreme tingling in my lower legs and feet like the circulation was completely cut off. Also, some in my hands and arms but not nearly as bad. My feet and legs are still not back to normal after a day and a half of not taking it.

Extreme fatigue /bordering on Narcilepsy- falling asleep while driving or at work sitting in my chair. Weight gain despite all efforts (working out and eating right). Rapid, pounding heartbeat. Can't concentrate -easily distracted.
Period is irregular and very heavy during some days.
I have told my doctor about these symptoms but she says there isn't much she can do. I have to wait until I see a specialist. It has taken me 3 months to get in to see one. If the specialist says that I have to keep taking this drug, I will stop taking it and find another doctor.

Male, age 39, bp at worst 148/88 in Dr.'s office, 137/78 at worst at home, both parents had history of heart disease before passing away at age 67, 20 mg. of lisinopril.
Side effects experienced during the 9 months on this stuff: Anxiety, CHEST PAIN!, tingling in hands and feet, pounding heartbeat at night, drowsiness, stomach discomfort.
First, let me say that the medication worked in keeping my blood pressure down. I was in the 115/65 range at best, 130/80 at worst (rarely).
BUT, this stuff made me feel like absolute crap and led to many sleepless night due to anxiety. I would have chest pains along my rib cage. The pain wasn't usually in the same spot, but moved around. These sharp, stabbing pain episodes lasted anywhere from 2 minutes (pain coming every 30 seconds or so) to the entire afternoon (resulting in two trips to the ER where the EKG was normal).
With a history of heart disease in my family, I'm very aware of chest pain of any kind, and this drove me nuts until I found this website. I thought I was having heart attacks! My doctor had no idea that chest pain could be a side effect of this drug and when I told him it was #4 on the list of most side effect complaints, he was shocked. He thought it was well tolerated.
I went off the 20 mgs for about a month and then the doctor talked me into going back on 10 mgs after a doctor.'s visit and a 148/88 reading. I was fine for the first day, then the anxiety and chest pains returned along with the drowsiness (couldn't make it past 7 PM without falling asleep in the lazy-boy). Enough of this crap! I threw out the bottle. No more.
