OMG.. THANK YOU ALL, I THINK YOU SAVED MY LIFE. Where have I been, why didnt I realize earlier... but yes, it must be true. I am totally convinced that Yasmin, in tandem with a severe emotional trauma (both of my parents died) caused me to almost kill myself (I was suicidal, and still can become suicidal when a depressive swing kicks in) I was -and to some degree still am- an emotional wreck and I JUST REALIZED upon finding this site that it is this goddamned pill to blame. I am sure of it, I know.... and am rather annoyed at myself since I was very reluctant to start dropping chemicals into my body about two years ago. But no, my wonderful gynecologist said it was essentially the only option to control my Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome... without it, I was a goner. Fine, I thought... and much much crying, anxiety, depression, lethargy, irritability later, I am stopping this s*** NOW. I will just have to find out another rememdy, preferably homeopathic, to deal with my condition. I mean... this is no way to live. I used to like sunny days -like most people- but have literally developed a phobia of the sun. Yes, I know it is wierd and irrational, but for the past year, the sun itself makes me anxious as hell, needless to say I overdo the hat and sunblock and my husband... well wonders what to do -he loves me dearly and has been understanding, thank God but I do put him through the ringer with, my mood swings are CRAZY... This pill is horrible, I repeat, horrible. I nearly lost my mind on it, and have become relatively unproductive, despite the fact that I graduated magna cum laude three years ago, was always active, extemely motivated, friendly, confident.... Now: the sun, my enemy. I also worry about dying, cancer... you name it, cant sleep either, and have splitting headaches almost daily. As others have mentioned, if anyone decides to head up a class-action, count me in. Please email me, I have medical documentation to back up several emergency visits to the psych ward due to suicidal depression. YASMIN WILL MAKE YOU GO NUTS. BLESS YOU ALL FOR PUTTING YOUR EXPERIENCES ON THIS SITE. We have to get the word out....

I'm glad to know that there are other women out there with similar problems as me. I recently became engaged, sexually active and with that, became a new user of the Ring. It was reccomended to me by two family member s who love it and would never go back to all the other methods they'd tried in the past. I, however, am not as lucky as they are. I put it in on the first day of my period, as directed. My period lasted about 8 days when it usually lasts five and I had brown spotting for the rest of the month. Intercourse became very painful for me from the get-go. It was like a burning sensation and it was horrible enough that my fiance and I have not done it for two weeks. I went in to my gyno and she said I had a yeast infection and that the Ring was healthy for the vagina because the vagina LIKES the hormones in it and that the Ring should improve the atmosphere in the vagina, if anything. So, I've had two UTI's and a yeast infection since putting it in, bleeding after intercourse, maddening headaches, cramps, ACNE (which it is suppose to clear up), and severe mood swings. But, my doc won't switch me to the pill because she thinks that my body will adjust. I guess I'll just give it some more time and, if it doesn't straighten up within another couple of weeks, I'll demand something else because this just is not working for me as I had hoped it would!

To the last post:
Anxiety is a major withdrawal side effect once off Yasmin. It has now been close to 7 months for me and I am now feeling ALOT better, but I admit it has been a very slow road to recovery. Be sure to explain how you're feeling to those close around you, as they need to be able to support you through this. You feel like you're 'losing it' sometimes when in fact you are the same old you, but just effected by the low level hormones.

The anxiety is due to your low progesterone level now you are off Yasmin. I'd recommend you have your levels checked out. I am now on Agnus Castus to help re-balance my hormones. I wished I hadnt waited until now to do this, as I may have speeded up this whole process.

You will find you will have good and bad days with this, according to your cycle. The important thing to remember is that you will get better, and the anxiety will go.

Like I said, see a doctor (preferably one that specialises in womens health, and therefore will not ignore your symptoms or disregard them).

A message for voicei...Hi, I've read your posts alot, and we have been leading very similiar lives for a long time it seems with all this (I too have posted alot). I just wanted to ask you how you have been once on the Agnus Castus...did any of your symptoms get worse before they got better? I have only been on it 10 days and on the whole have felt ok, but just wanted your thoughts about it so far...thanks.

Big hugs to all.

I've been on Yasmin for only 3 days and I'm having shortness of breath and panic attacks. I'm going to be married very soon, so I need to get on a birth control that I can trust ASAP. Preferably one that does not lower your sexual drive. NEED RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE.

Please post some alternatives to Yasmin. Respond with some pills that you do like!

RE: Spitting up blood

This is a BAD side-effect (although it's the first I've heard about it as connected to Neurontin) and you need to see your doctor immediately! Blood coming-out where it's not supposed to be is a sign of a broken blood vessel somewhere( you need to be ready to tell your doctor -- or call 911 -- about quantity of blood, frequency and timing of blood flow.) If it's from the head-area it could be from a small stroke. Facial numbness is also a symptom of a small stroke, serious as a heart-attack. Are you having trouble talking, walking, or paralysis in any limbs? CALL YOUR DOCTOR -- preferably the one who prescribed the Neurontin...tell him/her it's an emergency.

The facial numbness could very well be connected to nerve-damage in the herniated disc, but it's more frequently a sign of stroke, nerve damage from clots, etc...

Sometimes pain is a survival characteristic...it tells us something is wrong in the body. Good luck. JanK, Neurontin userid, certified Master's level counselor and First Aid practitioner

I have been taking Gabitril for about a year now and it was prescribed for insomnia...to be taken with dinner (preferably an early one) so that there is a slow release of the medication and it should be in full effect by bedtime. However, I have found that I usually have to resort to Ambien. I think that the Gabitril was prescribed to eventually replace Ambien but I am not clear on this. Also, Gabitril causes a terrible sensation in my throat, it feels dry and I almost think I can feel the dryness all the way down into my bronchial tubes...it has also caused some disorientation
