I thought my premenstrual rage and lack of sex drive was because of stress and depression. I really couldn't stand myself anymore. Then, I forgot to fill my perscription last month, and rather than start a new cycle, I thought I'd sit one out and start fresh the next month. I can't believe the difference! I've been on the ring for 4 years and never made the connection between my "issues" and the ring. After this month, I started looking into the side effects of the nuvaring, and found this website. I'm so glad I'm not insane!

Hi ladies! I am in complete shock at what I am reading on this site! I thought I was going crazy but now I know I wasn't and I am not alone!!! I was on Yaz for two months and in the first month, I noticed that my libido went from moderate (sex 3-5x a week) to completely non-existent- like a light switch. Then at the end of my second pack, which was this past week, I experienced breast tenderness, non-stop headaches (bordering on migraines) and my abdomen was extremely bloated. Also, throughout this past month, I have noticed my joints have been achy and my muscles have been sore. I have been weak and tired all the time on top of feeling anxious and restless. These premenstrual symtoms are completely uncommon for me to have. This past month in particluar has been oddly confusing and almost like an out of body experience. Now, in retrospect and after reading about others' experiences with Yaz, I am convinced that all those symptoms were/are side effects of Yaz. I hope this posting is helpful to some, in the same sense that other postings were helpful to me. Good Luck!

hi aal, just a quick update on my progress.
i have been off yasmin now for 13 weeks...i feel soooo much better, virtually all of my anxiety has gone,i can now pretty much do all of the things i did pre-yasmin. i have just got back from a holiday in spain.three months ago the thought of leaving my house or going to the shops terrified me. i still have a racing heart now and again, still get the shakes when i am pre menstrual and the anxiety gets a little worse again around ovulation but i know it will go away so it doesn't bother me much any more. i don't have the scary thoughts now (other than occasionally when premenstrual) the dizziness has gone,my appetite is back, the headaches are on their way out. i just wanted to share these things with everyone on this site as it has given me some just knowing that i am not alone and i am not crazy, this pill causes some of the worst side effects i have ever heard of from a birth control pill....if this is the next generation pill i'll stay in the past thank-you! i still have a hormone imbalance (suspect estrogen dominance) am going to see my gp and see what she suggests.other than that i am still taking all the vitamins and minerals and just living with the knowledge that it will get better,i know that it will because of all the amazing women who have posted their stories and updates here as a life line for all the rest of us.
all the best...... love many, trust a few but always paddle your own canoe!

Topamax has completely altered my life. I had a year and a half of daily migraines, with only a day or two of let-up each month -- my migraines are "common", not "classical", just to clarify, and my symptoms are more like that of a stroke victim's.
Now I only have bad premenstrual migraines (no solution to that yet). I still have migraines with Topamax, but it is like they have been pushed way down.....
I'm on 200 mg/day.
Side effects of Topamax: Mostly marvellous! The sexual side effects I really want to say something about, because I couldn't find anything about this when I first had them. Please allow me, and forgive me for graphically saying this -- this is about anatomy, and I needed to know I wasn't alone when I first experienced this: I experience marvellous spasms in my anus and vaginal walls sometimes, especially during sex, and I've had spontaneous near-orgasms a few times (though once in a grocery store, which was NOT NOT NOT pleasant). My libido has skyrocketed. It's been wonderful. It's been beautiful.
Sometimes I get a definite "Topamax buzz", especially in the afternoon. I sleep much better, and with a migraine can actually push myself, whereas before it was the end of the world. I can push myself, period. That used to be an impossibility.
Definitely, Topamax impairs my ability to speak sometimes. But my ability to think? It's improved 100%. I used to be a writer, and have now returned to this. It would have been unthinkable before Topamax.
I have intense tingling in my extremities, which can be awful at times. I find the negative side effects most unpleasant some days, like the facial twitches -- mostly the left side of my mouth, and sometimes both of my eyelids (like right at this moment). The fatigue, blech.
But honestly, compared to the migraines symptoms, these side effects are a dream. .....And the weight loss is a bit worrisome at times -- though my body looks great I always have to worry that I'm eating enough. I am getting my life back now. Topamax has some wretched side effects, but some beautiful ones too -- it re-opened my mind, gave me focus again.... and the migraines were hell. I am so very very grateful for Topamax.

My daughter has been on Prednisone for 16 months because of a blood platelet disorder (ITP). She started with 100 mg and has gradually been weaned down to 2 mg. Yesterday, her platelet count dropped quite a bit, so they took her back up to 3 mg. to get the count back up. I have several questions--because she is scared to check for herself. 1st, she has had a "sore" or achey spot on the side of one of her breasts--not a premenstrual sore, just a deep sort of ache. Could this be related to the prednisone? Also, she has had breakthrough bleeding between cycles. Also the pred??? Are there side effects even on this lower dose? She is 25 years old, and this has been a horrific ordeal for her and her new husband (who is incredibly understanding and patient). She is constantly anxious and deals with irrational fears. Frequent mood swings are common. I am sure this is all a result of the long term use of pred., but she so much wants to return to normal again. Has anyone experienced any of these or been on pred for this long? Thank you!

I started Yasmin almost a month ago and I have had almost no side effects. I read this website before going on the pill and was scared out of my mind. But nothing has happened so far. A LITTLE spotting, a little premenstrual cramping (barely painful), and I do have to pee a little more than usual. i went on the pill to help with my menstrual cramping and so far i havent gotten to the end of the pack so i dont know if it will help yet...but i havent experienced any of the changes anyone else has. no blinding pain, no stomach cramps, no nausea, no acne, no weight gain. i guess this pill just works differently for different people so i would suggest that anyone try this to just see how it works out.

Back in July of 2007 I had a partial Colectomy and was given Levaquin before the Surgery. When I woke up from the surgery I immediately felt all types of strange symptoms like, vibrating all over my body, anxiety, chills, Heart palpitations, tremors, insomnia, memory loss, and panic attacks. They told me that it was the anesthesia wearing off so I just sat in bed feeling that way for my entire 2 week stay in the hospital. When I went home these symptoms persisted as well as continued pain in my lower left quadrant where surgery was performed. It has been 8 months now and the symptoms are not getting better. They have conducted MRI’s, MRA’s. EEG’s, EKG’s, CAT Scans, X-Rays, numerous Blood Tests, and Thyroid tests but have found no physical problem. They can see that I’m having the symptoms I describe but cannot give me a reason for them. At first they thought that my Thyroid was having problems that turned up to be inconclusive. The doctors are currently referring me to a third Colorectal Surgeon, a Neurologist and a Second Gastroenterologist. We are also looking for a new Endocrinologist and will be going to the Cleveland Clinic for help. My life has come to a virtual standstill and I have no Diagnosis or direction to go toward other then the possibility that I have been affected by the Levaquin they gave me. I found a website that has all kinds of information concerning Levaquin poisoning. http://www.fluoroquinolones.org
