Been on coumadin for a year, horrible medication. Have aches all over, legs, shoulders, back, always tired, want to be off this med. Was taking alternative meds previously...nattokinase, bilberry which are blood thinners but are also SAFE. Then I had no leg pain, no muscle pain. I now take vitamin e and fish oil with the coumadin, no interaction since I've been using them for a long time and are more beneficial than the coumadin as far as I'm concerned. What I need is a naturopathic doctor, but they are hard to find, regular mds have no clue about supplements..all they want to do is increase your prescriptions. Doctors try to scare people telling them they'll have a stroke without coumadin, but have no solution on how to prevent stroke, etc. without drugs.

The best drug out there !! No I am not ignorant enough to make these cart blanche statements like some of these posts---Millions of people have used this drug successfully like I have. Just because it works for one individual they should not recommend it to the world nor if it causes you personally some harm YOU SHOULD NOT POST A STATEMENT THAT INFERS IT WILL HARM EVERYONE--IN-OTHER-WORDS GET A LIFE!

I have been on Fosamax for eight weeks. I had joint and muscle pain especially in the neck right from the beginning. I went to the pharmacy and asked about the effects. She told me to just continue to take the medicine.
After the second refill I also have been having stomach pain that wakes me up from sleep. My neck seems to feeling worse. After reading all the other blogs I am stopping this drug. All of my joints are painful and also there is a lot of clicking!! I hope that it hasn't done too much damage.

I have had Mirena put in Feb 09, so it has been 8 months and for 7months I have had a yeast infection that wont go away. It gets really bad the week before my period and the week after its not too bad. I have used OTC drugs and prescriptions. I have never had a YI before I had the mirena. I do believe it is the reason I have one, so I am going to get it removed. I have also been very tired and foggy feeling and never made that connection until reading all these posts.

I am 44 years old and have been taking singulair for about 4 years. 3 months ago I started experiencing crushing chest pain, tingling in my lower limbs, and felt very stressed out. I went to the ER last Thursday and was checked out for angina - the ER doctor told me I was suffering from chronic severe anxiety. I took Ativan for 4 days and felt better, but now the drigs are gone and I again having constant chest pain. In doing some research I found that anxiety can be caused by imbalance in adrenaline, and so started looking online to see if any of the allergy/asthma meds I am taking (adviar, singulair, allegra) can affect adrenaline. That';s when I found this website. Although i find the testimony compelling, I wish more folks would have poted about how their symptoms improved (or didn't) AFTER discontinuing singulair. Also I've noticed many of the stories are about children not adults; many people are taking more than one med for asthma, and most people's symptoms seem to come on right away whereas I have been taking sinulair for years and only recently have anxiety. I will stop singulair tonight and see what happens, but am wondering if anyone has come across further research that correlates singiulair with anxiety? My job life is really peaceful, I am otherwise happy, work can get hectic but that's true of any job, and I am out of ideas as to why suddenly at age 44, when I eat right and exercise - why get anxiety? Thanks for the posts, I'll try to remember to follow up after I am off Singulair for a few weeks.

my 85 yr old father had a slight heart attack recently. they put in a stent and a pace maker and sent him home with a slew of prescriptions- lipitor, plavix for 4 weeks, 2 BP meds, nexium for his daily baby aspirin.
he decided to only take the baby aspirin and a licorice supplement i gave him to protect his stomach instead of the nexium.
his doctor talked him into taking plavix for 14 days but he gave up on lipitor. he knew dad would never take it.
anyway, i talked to dad tonight and he stopped taking plavix after just 9 days. he didn't like the way it made him feel. he said it made him tired. he felt great before he started taking it and he's feeling better now that he's stopped

I have been Ambien for about 3 years. I finally get a good nights sleep. I look forward to the little white pill which gives me rest. Recently, much to my dismay I have been experiencing something that really troubles me. I have to assume it is Ambien because nothing else has changed with me. I have become very paranoid with my friends. I don;t know how else to explain it. Other than that and that is huge, because I am constantly looking over my shoulder for something I have done, I am beginning to trust no one. Is anyone else experiencing any of this? I am typically a friendly easy going person with a lot of friends but in the past year things have changed. I've accused friends of things and have lost a lot of their friendships. I can't afford to lose anymore no matter how nice I might be,(or I think I am) I am beginning to question myself. Am I going nuts or is it possibly the little pill that gets me through the night. Can anyone help me with this dilemma, I can't afford to lose any more friends or loved ones. Help! I'm going to try to go off my little pill that brings peace to my life but I have to know if I'm going crazy or is it the medication. This is my last night to use it I think.

Thank God I found this page! I really thought I was going crazy and so did my family. I did however make the mistake of stopping mid pack which resulted in a headache like no other! Vomiting, dizziness etc. That was 2 days ago and I still don't feel quite right. And my blood pressure is up, not a usual side effect for me. Can anyone tell me if they've had a similar episode and how long I can expect to feel like I'm living in a fog? The FDA should pull this from the shelf, it would save millions of dollars because the number of anti depressant prescriptions would go down.

Hi everyone, I had my mirena put in feb of 2008. Around June 2008 I started having dizzy spells, and headaches. Went to ENT and ruled out inner ear problems, went to neurologist and he said it could be migraines. I never had them before but have a family history. I have in the last couple months been having really bad dizzy spells and nausea, like 4-5 times a week. Has anyone else had any of these problems? Not sure if its the mirena or not, but have been to just about every doctor and no one can figure out why i have been so dizzy and nauseous> Any suggestions?????

Ugh, this has to be the worst medicine I have EVER been on. I was having anxiety attacks that occurred every evening and lasted for hours. Hot flash, nauseousness, inability to concentrate, thought I was going crazy.........
they started after my mom went in for open heart surgery in Nov of 2008. They put me on Xanax for attacks, and Clonazepam (double ugh), and I didn't take Effexor for a while, but my aunt convinced me to do it as I wasn't doing much better.
The thing is I'd been having issues with fatigue, heart palpitations, facial hair, etc. for several months to years and the doctors ran blood work and said everything was fine........
With the clonazepam and effexor I didn't have mood swings so much, but it was because I spent 16-20 hours a day in bed. When I first started the effexor I was told that the side effects go away after your body adjusts, and as it was the fourth or fifth anti-depressant I tried I figured I would suffer through. I lost 40 pounds (as I was/am overweight it was a good side effect in some ways) in a matter of 6 weeks, lost my appetite to the point that when I realized that I needed to do something about it I had to force myself to eat 1/2 piece of toast a day, slowing eating more...........I went several weeks only able to eat an average of 500 calories a day. I was so nauseous all the time. I was pretty much having a break down. I would only be "functioning" for 2-6 hours a day.
After going to the ER because my muscles began shaking while standing or trying to climb stairs (I'm only 28), having racing heart beats which they just prescribed more medication for, absolutely no energy, my hair falling out by the handfuls, I would wake up with it on my pillow............could not concentrate for the life of me, falling behind in school work (back to school mom), unable to do papers because I couldn't think.............
They finally tested my thyroid (runs in the family, have been telling them it sounded like my thyroid from the beginning........) my levels were finally off the charts, my TSH wasn't even registering. I was diagnosed with Graves disease........which can cause the panic attacks that they put me on the medication for in the first place.
As I figured it was probably the Graves, I tried weaning off my meds, only to feel as though I was going nuts and going to die............... I cut my clonazepam and effexor dosages in half, and within 2 days I could concentrate, and within a couple weeks I could go up and down the stairs again.............
Even now it is hard to say how much of my issues were caused by the Graves and how much was due to the Effexor combined with the Clonazepam. I was able to wean of the Clonazepam within 6 weeks by cutting my dosage in quarters every two weeks, but NOT the Effexor. I tried cut it and started having panic attacks, couldn't think, major migraines, and bed ridden........so I had to reduce it even slower.
Once I got down to half a dose, all of my symptoms went away except the fatigue. That is why I associate a lot of it with Effexor and NOT the Graves, because the symptoms did not go away until I reduced the drugs. I am now finally free of Effexor for about a month, and it was a hard road. It took me six months. I still have some issues with concentration and the occasional panic attack, but they are very minimal. I have read that this could be due to either both or one of the drugs I was on as it can take a year or more for your body to adjust.
Anyhoo, I wonder if the medication didn't trigger the Graves, or what.............but I would NEVER EVER suggest this medication to anyone.
I have gained most of the weight I lost back........but that is to be expected since my metabolism probably hit rock bottom not eating anything but toast for weeks.......
Anyhoo, I really wish that Doctors would tell you what could happen before giving you a drug. At least then when you start having these symptoms you know where and why...........rather then going in, and them having no idea?!?!?!? Funny, as if you search online you see lists that match exactly what you are going through.
I am now VERY leery about taking any meds at all, including Tylenol.

Today, I completed 10 days of taking 100 mg twice a day. It was prescribed to me by my dentist to prevent infection (took a tooth out). I had severe depression, nausea, dizziness, anxiety. I got to a point that I believed I needed psychological help. This is not me, so I begun research. Thanks to this site, I called my dentist and kaiser to told me to stop taking it since 10 is the maximum. The doctors do not believe it causes depression, but what do they know in my own personal experience with doctors with prescriptions they have put me through hell. I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL...YOU WERE MY HELP...MY SANITY. GOD BLESS EVERYONE...I AM JUST HOPING NO MORE SIDE EFFECTS ON THE LONG RUN...AND TO BE BACK TO MY NORMAL POSITIVE, OPTIMISTIC AND FUNNY SELF. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I have been on NuvaRing for about 3 years now and never really noticed any side effects. Normally, I have bad cramping and a heavy period, but NuvaRing relieved me of that. But for the past couple months, right before and during my period, I will get the most intense 3-4 day migraine/headaches. I have to constantly take Excedrin or something, the pain doesn't stop. So now that a couple months have gone by, I spoke with a girlfriend of mine she said that her old b/c used to give her headaches. I googled Nuvaring and headaches, and here I am at this site. I am so happy I found this site because I have had NO sex drive at all and I really thought there was something wrong with me. I am young, happy, in a beautiful relationship and my fiance thinks Im not attracted to him anymore. It makes perfect sense though, this has happened ever since the NuvaRing, i really just have no want or need to have sex at all-like its a task or something. Its horrible. And I saw several mention the discharge and the yeast infections and the UTI's. Wow. I have unlimited prescriptions that my gyn had to write me because I get UTIs. I keep asking my gyn what causes them and he tells me sex and not urinating after sex and blah, blah. I''ve heard every single reason and believe me, I avoid all of them and still get them. I am the most careful person ever because my UTIs are horrible. I wont have one, then BAM, it burns to urinate, i urinate blood, i go to the bathroom every 5 seconds, horrible cramps, paint in my back. Horrible.
Seriously though, I am in shock that it took so long for the headaches to start and for me to look into this medication more. I was 118 pounds when I started this pill (around 17 or 18 years old)...at 21 years old...I am 150 pounds. All of which, I definitely wouldn't blame on the ring, but never in my life have I gained so much weight for no reason. I was even working out at the gym and couldn't loose a pound. I feel like giving up, because by the time I get out of work all I want to do is sleep. I have zero energy, I am always tired and never want to do anything. And it seems like so many other people on this site have had these issues to. I hope my story helps someone else in their decision to stop NuvaRing. Thankfully, I just took out my last one on Sunday and didn't spend the $150 for a 3 ring refill. Crazy prices, especially when you pay good money for insurance.

Me too... I've had a nagging cough ever since an upper resp tract infection (treated & improved w Z-pak). This has been over a month ago. I started Lisinopril:HCTZ combo many months ago & no complaints before. Could drug be the cause of my cough? I've been thinking I aggravated my throat from all of the coughing w the sinus infection. Whatever - it's a drag! My SO is tired of my coughing & fumigating our living space with Hall's cough drops all the time. My BP is good though.... I'm thankful for that.

Began taking Biaxin 500mg 1x a day recently for acne...have had a history in the past of migraines, but couldn't figure out why all of a sudden I was getting migraines EVERY day. I also had some stomach problems, but knew from looking up side effects that this was to be expected - but couldn't find anything about headaches/migraines being a side effect. I had also noticed that things weren't tasting quiet right, most especially my diet Pepsi, but couldn't figure out how that was a side effect - but am guessing that is the "abnormal taste" other's have described. I have called my doctor to asked about changing prescriptions, because I don't think I can handle a month of daily migraines - just to deal with acne!

I, too, am trying to get off of Lisinopril. I am 49, and 10 lbs over my ideal weight. Went on the drug in December 2008, 2.5 mg a day. Since then, I have been depressed, tired, had a dry cough, sometimes a pounding heart and most recently, I am now losing my hair! And, yes, my bp is normal while on the Lisinopril. I have to say, that while I knew it was making me feel lousy, the hair loss was the last straw of side effects. I went on it at a time of high stress in my life and for now, life is calmer and my bp ranges between 135/80 and 145/90 when I am off it. Thinking of some natural, healthy approaches to lower my bp. Perhaps lose that 10 pounds and get more exercise. It is the worry of a high bp that makes the lisinopril hard to give up. The side effects though tell me it is bad for my body. I appreciate this website and reading about the experiences others are having while on this drug. I am hoping my hair will come back in if I stay off of it. Has anyone else had their hair grow back?

I am 72 years old and in 1995 I had an artery blockage and had angioplasty.Upon my release from the hospital I was put on several prescriptions, beta blockers, cholesterol, Aspirin, Vitamins, etc. which I had been taking regularly for 13 years without any problems. In 2008 after having chest pain and going to the hospital my heart doctor advised me I had Atrial Defibrillation and put me on Warfarin and also told me to stop taking all the vitamins I was using along with my daily aspirin dose and one of my prescriptions. Since then I have had constant shoulder and muscle pain in my arm and leg. I have had several treatments by a chiropractor and several physical therapy treatments and the pain has not subsided. My memory has gotten worse also however I thought that was due to my age until I read some of the above side effects of Warfarin. I definitely have a lack of energy and also changed my diet due to the Warfarin. I have informed my heart doctor about the problems and he advised it is not due to the Warfarin. I don't agree with him after reading all the posts, but I am not a doctor. I will continue my prescribed dosage and Pt/Inr tests as schedule for a while, but if my pain etc doesn't get better I will probably do like the lady's posting and stop the warfarin on my own.

My girlfriend is 36 she had a kidney infection and got Levaquin IV in the hospital. Her legs were going numb and she could hardly get up to go to the bathroom in the hospital. She thought it was her infection. They sent her home two days later with 5 pill containers. One of them was Levaquin. She called me today and said she is having terrible pains in her hands, wrists, hips, and knees. She says she cant make a fist or hold a bag of groceries and her hands have swollen up so that she cant get her rings off. I told her I would do a search on the net to see if it might be one of the drugs she was taking. Slowly but surely I made it to the Levaquin. The drug maker fairly non chalantly refers to tendon rupture as a side effect effecting mostly people over 60 years old. I dug a little further and found this web site and was amazed at how many people are being poisoned by this drug. I am praying if she stops taking it the pain and debilitating effects will go away quickly. She has two disabled boys she has to take care of, including lifting them into wheel chairs and into beds. This is no joke! I am so angry at this drug maker and these doctors who often times do more harm than good.

Consumer Medication Information (CMI) distributed by pharmacies with prescriptions is NOT regulated by the FDA and may not contain a complete list of side effects from the medication's FDA approved label.
CMI is usually stapled to the prescription bag or inside it and is often produced by private companies that provide this information to pharmacies. It is different than a medication guide or patient package insert, which are FDA approved, published by drug manufacturers, and and required to be distributed with certain medications.
You can get accurate medication side effect information from the United States National Library of Medicine's DailyMed website.

33 year old, 125lb female with cholesterol of 234. I was put on Simvastatin 40mg, which I took fot 3 night only. All hell broke loose, insomnia, hands are numb, severe joint/back pain, extreme weakness... The thing is, I took it for 3 nights & realized it wasn't for me. I've been off of it for 3 weeks, but the symptoms still persist, rendering me pretty much dead.... I was told by a few that putting me on 40 mg to start off probably did the job... Three week of living hell & my primary physician don't have answers for me!

Just read posts. Will think how to make experience better.
I have taken my three doses within two days, as prescribed so far.
(100mg twice a day).
I may just take one dose today to give my system a reprieve and then think I will stock up on things to help, and go again and try to do the week prescribed.
I AM NOT A DR. so don't take what I Say, as Your authority...but remember that doctors are "practicing" experts at their work" and drug companies like money. Some prescriptions save lives, and others, well...one needs to research and work with or change the method or part of the method. I go herbal whenever possible and hardly take any medications.
My adverse symptoms during this prescription are: Feeling a bit depressed anxious, and withdrawn, almost toward paranoid, Almost. But still ok,"riding the rim" so to speak.
1. "I have heard"... alpha lipoic acid crosses blood brain barrier so that ought to help with brain talking to itself re:
low heavy mood.
Also amino acids, thanks for that too!
2. WATER.
3. Exercise.
4. I think nettle tea as general tonic:
(must boil first for 25 minutes for fresh nettles)
5. I'll get some dandelion root if I don't have milk thistle on hand, or maybe even if I do!
6. I know Omega 3's help with mood
and more so I hope that won't interfere
(does it have minerals???),
I will likely take it anyway between pills.
7. Stay out of sun for now.
8. Vitamin D3.
9. Eat good size meal first.
10. Some Vit. C seems good and also B Vit for stress.
11. Rescue Remedy is a Bach flower remedy for stress. Take as directed, but AGAIN, go slowly if you are listening here, as EVERYONE is different.I take no responsibility for how these things
may effect YOU...but i hope it helps.
One needs to think and trust...
"How do I really feel?" and do the research and look for YOUR options. What works for one doesn't always work for another. I am going to think: what is an immune booster and what is a mood stabilizer, with foods and vitamins, and see if I can keep the prescription going for the week. Coffee~caffeine causes me anxiety. But Turkey has tryptophan in it, that calms.
This is how I NEED,
to THINK...very carefully.
Will call Dr. NOW and let him know what's up for me, and meanwhile, I will try to manage it from info I can muster.
Will see...I don't know outcomes yet, but I do feel, depressed right now.
Stay alert, be gentle and pampering where possible, with my day, calming music, meditate on PEACE...call a friend for temporary support, and do my best.
Here I go....water, big meal, pay attn. to what I need.
CHANGE prescription if too hard!
But...try this way first.
Some people generally absorb meds well and some don't.

Finally people are telling the truth about this drug.
I am 17 and have had trouble falling asleep since I was two years old. After a few not noticeable prescriptions was prescribed 15mg of Remeron. I have eaten healthy my whole life and never really cared for sweets before this drug. I literally was eating an entire pie every night. I couldn't even think about anything except for how hungry I was. Running out of sweets was honestly what I imagine heroin withdrawals are like. This went on for a few months and I gained about ten pounds. I recently I ruptured my spleen about a two months ago and have been in constant pain since then. Because of the pain I barely sleep at all. 2-3 hours of solid sleep max, so I was prescribed klonopin and went cold turkey on the remeron. I am now pretty much pain free and more social. Is it possible the remeron increased the pain?

I have been on 100 mg topamax for a few months now, and i was actually having people try my drinks bc i thought they was flat, and i would feel my fingers and my toes go numb and tingle. I honestly never thought for two seconds it was my medication. The only side effects i was warned about was weight loss (which hasn't occurred with me) and that i would be very thirsty, which i am. But i have NIGHTMARES about things im not even afraid of, and i have trouble spelling words i didn't before, and sometimes i can't even remember what i wore last week to school. Im starting to rethink this whole topamax thing, does anyone know any other prescriptions that will help headaches without the crazy effects?

I have had the mirena in for about 17 months. The first 10 months I was nursing and didn't think much of it. The last 7 months I have been a little depressed. Just recently, I have had tingling in my hands and feet and lower back pain. I have been treated by my MD who I love for a pinched nerve. He has done complete x-rays and back/spine MRI and everything has come back fine. I am a healthy 35 year old who wonders if it could be the Mirena causing my symptoms?? Just interested is anyone feeling the same?? Please respond :)

I have been on Paroxetine which is the generic for Paxil, I was put on it for panic, anxiety and depression..I have been on since about sometime in March. Now if anyone can avoid running out of their medications it would be a good thing to make you don't.
-- By sunnygirl57 | Reply | Private Message meI have recently ran out of my medication and I have noticed today mostly of the two days I have been without it some differences in my moods, and attitude. Today I have really noticed that I have been very impatient myself with family, husband, and pets, I get angry quicker about anything. I just don't feel right at all..
I am exhausted, I have no concentration, no focus at all. I am having a hard time right now. I go to a clinic to get my prescriptions and lately with what I have going on in my life,my needs get pushed aside.I am a full time student and now my husband goes to school so he can get a better job, and he has to be driven there two days a week by me, so that takes time out of that day to go and see the doctor.
