I am so glad I found this site! I had thought that all of the sodas I was buying were coming from the vendors flat, but now I realize it was the Topamax. I started taking this medication on September 15th, only 25mg at night and just moved up to 50mg a night after seven days. I've suffered migraines for five years and asked my doctor for a preventative rather than having to take something after the onset that knocked me out for two days. I can't work like that. I haven't experienced any of the tingling sensations, but I have definitely noticed the loss of appetite and severe nausea after taking the medication if I don't fall immediately asleep. No problems with depression, but I do feel like I am floating all the time. Neck feels heavy sometimes. Words seem to disappear out of my vocabulary on a daily basis, and it takes me three days to think of something, which is very frustrating. Haven't actually stepped on a scale yet but I can tell I've lost weight (which is okay) because my clothes are hanging on me. One side affect I haven't read about is anemia - I have noticed that I seem to be bruising very easily; my chihuahua sat in my lap and left little bruises where his feet were. Does anyone know if this is normal?

i was on lisinopril for a year and a half when it hit me like a ton of bricks.... i was twenty three years old and in super health, other than the moderatly high bp. i became very tired and dizzy like someone flipped a switch. At first i thought i was just coming down with a bad cold but after a week i knew it most have been somthing more. I was tired all the time, had problems with my sinuses, headaches, nausea, heart palpatations, dizzy, felt like i was going to faint all the time. I couldn't get to sleep at night and if i did i didn't want to get up in the morning. Even after 10 hrs of sleep i felt like i had just played two football games. I am one of the most optomistic people you will ever meet and i felt like i was going to die... I had no idea what was going on with me. I saw many doctors and they all told me that it was in my head. I felt this way for over a year when i suggested to my Dr that maybe it was the lisinopril. She really didn't think so but we stopped taking it and started a beta blocker. i have been off the lisinopril for 4 months and feel a ton better but still have a long way to go. Could anyone tell me how long this will last and what i could do to speed up my recovery... thanks CP

I recently was given 200mg over the recommended pharmaceutical dose of Lamictal. My dr.'s partner prescribed this after a trip to the ER for a seizure to get me by until I could see my regular neurologist at the beg. of the week. The extra dose caused major blurred vision side effects, inability to walk, extreme sensitivity to light, and nausea. I am now at 400mg of Lamictal and starting Topomax with it so I hope this works. Any thoughts from anyone else taking this med combo?

I was given Doxycycline on Tuesday after having my wisdom teeth extracted as an infection preventative. I followed the directions carefully as I have always been very sensative to medications and wanted to be careful with this new one. Wednesday evening within minutes of taking the pill I was overcome with nausea. I began to vomit and with in an hour had severe chest/stomach pains just below my rib cage. The following morning I called the prescribing Dr. right away- The Dr. told me to stop taking the Doxycycline. It is now Saturday evening (3 full days later) and the horrible chest/stomach pain has not at all subsided. I have had a hard time functioning in this much pain and am eager for it to end, to say the least. On top of all of this I have also experienced bloating in my stomach and an intense amout of gas. (burping, etc.)
I realize I have obviously had a bad reaction to this medication, some people do and some people don't- it's the case with any drug. My main concern now is WHEN will these side effects end? How could two days on this medication have caused 3 additional days worth of such terrible pain? Should I contact my general physician on Monday, and if so is there even anything that they can do?
I have had drug reactions in the past, typically when one ends a medication one is also able to end the uncomfortable reactions of the medication. This is a nightmare....How long does this stuff stay in a person's system???? Scary thought, isn't it.

I had triple bypass surgury, and put on zocor as a preventative RX, along with other meds. Two months post surgery I started getting a pain in my right foot when walking 2 minutes and a continuous pain in left thigh all day and night long. Dr said I could take tylenol when needed. I started cardiac PT, walking on treadmill, exercise bike 3x per week. Pains persisted. 3 weeks later Dr agreed to take concern serious. Did blood work. Muscle enzymes elevated. Took me off Zocor taday to see if in a few weeks thigh would stop hurting. Ordered Ancle Bracial Index test to see if foot issue is circulation related.

I have been taking Lipitor for about two years. Just recently I have experienced muscle pain on the sides of my arms from the shoulders down and muscle pain in my legs. This is so uncomfortable that it wakes me up during the night. I can barely get out of bed in the morning and feel as if I've been run over by a bread truck. My doctor prescribed the drug as a preventative for high cholesteral because I have diabetes. However, my cholesteral has never been above 200.

I saw my physician several days ago because the muscle pain was increasing and I was feeling almost septic. He mentioned Lipitor might be causing this and wrote me prescriptions for a muscle relaxant and an anti-inflammatory. I also had a blood test to determine whether Lipitor was adversely affecting my body. The test came back negative. He told me to stay on the Lipitor and the other two medications for two weeks. After being on the new meds for a couple of days, I still felt terrible. I have stopped taking the Lipitor and the other prescriptions. I will see in a week or so if I'm feeling better. I couldn't feel worse, and, I don't think my cholesterol is out of control.

This incident makes one pause and take note that physicians are not omnipotent, and also to remember to take responsibility for our health care.

I have been taking Lipitor for the last year. Recently I started to have stomach pains on the right side. An ultra sound revealed that I had developed cysts on my liver.
I had a CT scan this week which confirmed the cysts, and also a thickening of my stomach walls.
I had a colonoscopy and upper GI, and everything checked out ok but they took a biopsy of my stomach lining.
Even though I had low cholesterol my doctor prescribed Lipitor as a preventative drug. I strongly urge people to discontinue its use. I exercise daily, am a vegetarian, and have a low stress job. I have always been very healthy. This is the first time I have a problem.

My son has been on Advair for several years and is now 9. He is a healthy eater and quite tall for his age but is getting an increasingly large mid section. When I looked on this website and saw that many other people had this side effect it made me hopeful that this may be his problem! Is there any proof that this is a side effect? If so are there other preventative asthma medications that don't cause this side effect?

LISINOPRIL HAS CAUSED INCESSANT COUGHING DURING THE NIGHT. HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE TO THE POINT OF ALMOST CHOKING. TALKING GOT IMPOSSIBLE. COULDN'T GO TO CHURCH OR MOVIES. MY CONSTANT COUGH WOULD BOTHER OTHERS.
DR TRIED ANTIBIOTICS, CODIENE COUGH MEDICINE, ALLEGRA D, AND I TRIED SUDAFED, BENEDRYL, STEAM, VICKS, AND ANYTHING ANYONE SUGGESTED. NOW I SEE THAT LISINOPRIL IS THE MOST LIKELY CULPRIT. I'M QUITTING IT, SINCE DR GAVE IT TO ME AS PREVENTATIVE, ANYWAY. GOING TO THROAT SPECIALIST TOMORROW.
