I was recently given Levaquin for a minor chest cold. I took four 500mg tablets and on the fifth day I was standing at my desk and had horrible heart palpitations, numbness, shortness of breath. My blood pressure shot up from 105/66 to 180/96 and I collapsed on the floor. I was rushed to the hospital and admitted for two days due to an allergic reaction to this medicine. My pulsox dropped to 54% and I had another episode causing tremors, heart palpitations and vomiting in front of the doctor and he wouldn't admit that it had anything to do with the levaquin. I had an MRI, EKG and Chest X-RAY. My blood was analyzed and they stated that my cardiac enzymes were fine but that my heart palpitations were a definite concern. I had a return episode yesterday and spent the entire day in the E.R. for the same symptoms. I am a thirty five year old peace officer in the prime of my life. I work out daily, practice karate and eat healthy. My family has no prior history of heart problems and last year I received a reduction in my life insurance premium because I exceeded their health criteria. I was feeling just fine until 45 minutes after taking this medicine. Today I have an event heart monitor on my chest and an appointment to see a cardiologist, endocrinologist etc. The methodist nurse contacted me today and stated that she has personally dealt with hundreds of these cases and has dealt with hundreds of these "reactions" to levaquin. She also stated that I would never get a doctor to admit it and that she would never take it if it was prescribed to her. This medicine is black box labeled and still the FDA allows it on the market. It needs to be stopped. I'm not the lawsuit type but I will make it my life's mission to annoy the FDA until this poison is off the market. ******

I go by the ID Miserable Knees. I posted last spring on medications.com about my adverse reaction to Levaquin. I was given a 10 day prescription for a respiratory infection. 3 days after I finished taking Levaquin, BOTH KNEES were swollen, painful and I could barely walk. I spent a month throwing myself backwards into chairs due to the inflammation in my knees. My knees were on fire, I was in pain every day. After seeing an orthopedic doctor an MRI showed cartilage damage. A year later, I'm living with permanently altered legs. I was an avid walker, loved to hike, would spend hours walking for recreation. Levaquin changed all of that. I had a career requiring me to be on my feet for 12 or more hours a day. Levaquin changed all of that. I decided, if this could happen to me, it could happen to anyone. Now, there is a documentary about the dangers of fluoroquinolne antibiotics. When I was harmed by Levaquin, I was flabbergasted that something like this could happen to me in the prime of my life. I made this 52 minute film for all of the people like me who trusted the system, (government, doctor, medicine) to guarantee my safety. "Certain Adverse Events" is the name of the documentary and it is now available online. You can reach the documentary site by going online to the .com of "Certain Adverse Events"

forget it! don't let it pass your lips! i am 38yrs old and going through a very stressful time in my life. my periods have always been regular and short. a couple of months ago i started experiencing 2 periods per month with the most recent one lasting 20 days. ugh! gross! my doc put me on this pill to regulate and stop the bleeding. started taking it right away and my period stopped almost immediately. a few days later i would start again with heavy bleeding that would last for about 6 hours and then be completely gone. a few days later, the same thing. this went on for 3 weeks. now i have started a full blown period and have another week and half until my brown pills. as mentioned i am going through a very stressful time in my life, but i am not a person to suffer from depression or be emotional. i always see the silver lining and can make the most of any situation. i eat healthy, i take care of myself. my sex drive has always been through the roof. i am in the prime of my life! now? i am tired. i am gloomy. i could care less about social engagements. i am negative. i have weird discomforts in my calves and abdominal area, i cry over spilt milk. sex? seriously? who cares about that?! if i could lay in bed all day, eat chips and dip, drink wine, cry and watch mindless tv ... life would be grand. this is not me! also, i get pimples in places i never thought possible -- my arms and legs! ew! my doctor wanted me to take this pill for 3 months. not a freaking chance. my other option is to get an ablation. i've known several people who have gotten this done and have never heard nor read anything negative about this procedure. bent over today with heavy (non due) bleeding and cramps, i just called my doc and said, "screw your pill, ablate me."

I am normally a very physically fit specimen, working outside every day. One 500 mg. tab of this poisencompletely debilitated me. Within six hours of taking levaquin I experienced excruciation soreness in my arms and shoulders. My throat swelled up and I could barely breath. I was perscribed steroids to stop the swelling - I took only ONE 500 mg time release tab 7 days ago and today I am still experiencing incredible pain.I am so sore I can't sleep. If anyone wants to start a call action suit I am in - I have NEVER sued anyone - but I am furious.Any advise out there as to how I can flush this poisen out of my system?

I've been taking 300mg of Wellbutrin everyday for a year now... It does work wonders, it was like night and day for me... I only suffer from one side effect.. I have absolutely NO sex drive whatsoever. It was a gradual decline for me. I'm in my early 20's and in the prime of my life! And have little or no interest in women! Anybody else suffer from this problem?
