I am 40-years-old and took Singulair for about two months. I first took it for about two weeks and got horrible symptoms and then stopped for a week and then tried it again for about a month. Never again will I put Singulair into my body. My symptoms were chronic and severe muscle cramps and twitching, restless legs, body aches, numbness, tingling, hair loss, weight gain, and skin changes (urticaria and angioedema). I also used to suffer from menorrhagia to where now I barely get a cycle. I cannot blame Singulair for the headaches/migraines because I have been a headache/migraine suffering for many years.

When I first stopped taking Singulair the symptoms calm down. But since then they have come back with a vengence. I have been to several specialty doctors (family doctor first, endocrinologist, neurologist, allergist and rheumatologist). Now please let me defend myself by saying I see my family doctor and gynecologist yearly for a physical and also when I am sick and I have always been basically a very healthy, and slender woman with thick hair. I was on no other medications other than ibuprofen and acetaminophen for the headaches/migraines. What they have found so far is that I have secondary autoimmune hypothyroidism (only my TPO antibody and thryoglobulin are extremely elevated, but my TSH, T3 and T4 are completely normal), and allergies to everything outside (no food or pet allergies) and idiopathic lupus (because my skin has developed urticaria and angioedema).

I am going for an EMG and MRI of the brain in one week because they are trying to rule out MS. They have been saying that my symptoms look like MS or lupus. They have ruled out lupus because my blood tests do not show lupus only my skin is acting like lupus. My allergist put me on doxepin for my skin and twitching symptoms. This medication has helped my skin and slowed down the twitching.

I am not trying to blame Singulair, but it is very strange that I was a basically healthy person with some outdoor allergies and mild asthma. I would get pneumonia once a year also (always around the holidays). Now, I feel like crap since taking Singulair. My legs are the worst of all the symptoms along with the constant twitch under my right eye. This can drive a person insane, especially when you are trying to relax and your body cannot.

Thanks for listening,
Carrie

This site is the absolute life saver. I have had my mirena in for two years and am getting it out as sson as I post this I will call my GP. I ahve been sent for every test for every disease under the sun and have only now come to the conclustion that it is all the mirena. Numbness down my left side (I had tests for ms and other serious neurological disorders), abdominal pain, swelling, headaches blurry vision acne like I never had before not efven in my teens. The good thing was it stopped my period all together but now I now haow unatural that is. Thank goodness for all your posts. If I wan;t in Australia, I would be joining in the class action. I have lost two years to this thing with constant doctors and worry about more serious implications. I have had stress leave off owrk and all the time my GP has said it would not be the Mirena.

I took Yutopar from week 32 to week 36 when pregnant with Daughter #1, who was born at 37 1/2 weeks. Effects on me: heart pounding, couldn't sleep.
She is now 18
She has suffered from: never consolidating a nights sleep, then daily night terrors from age 5 until medicated at age 8, sleep screaming, sleep walking, rages, ODD. Refusal to go to camp. late to walk, ride bike, fear of stairs. also is very bright (verbal and math theory); teen years-- depressed, conduct disorder, but also can perform in plays and musicals. Treated with various ssris and norephenphrin and dopamine managers, with some effect, but not success. other symptoms are appearing--pathological lying. fails in school due to inability to function. Has ceased having fun.
Daughter #2: preterm labor (due to fibroids) treated with ehelated Magnesium supplements. Baby was a calm sleeper and an easily habituated baby, also very bright and sensate, but no problematic, out-of-range-behaviors.
Where are studies of evey child treated in utero with this drug???

I took topmax prescribed by my Veteran's Administration physician for Migraines. Stepped from 25 mg to 100 mg over 3 weeks. I also take effexor. I already have aphasia and the side effects increased those symptoms and it seems from reading here every other one but eye problems. At the strong suggestion of my "back" surgeon, I have quarterly caudal blocks, I stopped immediately. Anyone who must use the VA for medical care knows getting in touch with ones primary physician is problematic at best and nearly impossible often. The worst is I suspect I was let go at work due to the side effects. I am an accountant currently studying for the CPA exam and could not work well and accurately with the side effects. The only reason I tried this med was to prevent waking up in the middle of the night throwing up with a migraine and losing time at work due to migraines.

From now on I will simply use the injectors of imatrex that may be a major pain, literally and leave me losing a day when I must use it from knocking me out. It seems that I always get every bloody side effect from every med I take. Botton line is, I will never take this medication again.

I would like to find out if anyone has had similar problems as my wife. My wife has been taking Topamax for 4 to 5 years for migrane relief. During this time she has had a series of problems that list out as side effects (IE: weight loss, difficulty with memory, depression, psychomotor slowing, mood problems, confusion, decreased libido). But the biggest and most problematic is paranoia. We have been married for 29 years and are in our mid 50's. About at the same time she started taking Topamax she went into metaphase. Initially I thought her paranoia was a symptom of metaphase, but she is through that and her paranoia has accelerated. She accuses me constantly of being unfaithful, having another job, investing in things she is not aware of and literally hundreds of accusations. All of wcich are untrue and I have proven that to her time and time again to no avail. Her doctors say no she is on too low of a dose to have these problems, but I dissagree. She went off the medicine in December and January, but started to get frquent migranes in late January so she went back on the medicine. When she was off the medicine her demeanor was like the wife I have had for 25 yaers. When she went back on it she had a significant demeanor and the accusations started up again. She can't get the negative thoughts out of her mind, which is causing her incredible turmoil, and me too as I am the fucus of her paranoia. My next door neighbor was on this very med and developed awful thoughts about her husband and got off the med. It took her about a year to get her mind right. My wife doesn't believe she has this problem. But believe me she does. DO you have or know of others who have had these problems that are on Topax? Please let me know. Thank you! Engineer-guy

Dr. prescribed guaifen w/p-ephed 600/120mg 2x a day for sever sinus pressure - it certainly has releived the sinus pressure. My side effects have been racing heart beat shortly after taking, upset stomach within minutes and the most problematic has been the feeling of itching on the front of my entire legs, front & back upper torso - especially the upper back and entire scalp as well as waking up 1 hour after taking the PM dose - full of energy - getting ALOT accomplished. However, I am going to stop taking this medication as I want a full restful night's sleep and want the itching to STOP. I personally will never use this product again. Thank you everyone for your input - it helped me greatly. sincerely - sleepy!

I have had major asthma problems for years - usually needing prednisone 3 or 4 times a year, using albuterol inhaler around the clock. I have been using Advair for about 2 months now and I have had absolutely no asthma attacks at all. I can exercise and feel like a normal person for the first time in years. I have had several side effects that are problematic - one of them being dizziness, scratchy thoat and chronic sinus congestion. What is worse, debilitating asthma or a chronic sinus infection? I have decided breathing is better than anything so I will stay on it.

Have had severe anxiety for as long as can remember. Started treatment 10 years ago. Recent trend from doctors is that they want me to be off benzodiazepams. Was taking Klonipin and Xanax. Yesterday, Doc prescribed a doubling of 12 mg of Gabitril to 24 mg at night for severe anxiety. I felt like I was dying. I got dizzy, disoriented, Felt like I couldn't breathe, my hands and feet were cold. This medicine's side effects are unpredictable and and appear to be more problematic in anxiety/depressed patient, (in treating anxiety) than has been reported.

Increased libido (maybe from decreased depression) but after years of being accustomed to Elavil, I find premature ejaculation with Remeron to be very problematic. Almost no staying power at all (I'm serious about this). I know Remeron is supposed to decrease sexual side effects but this may be going too far.
