I have been taking Simvastatin for 10 years, initially 20mg daily but increased to 40mg in the last year. I have noticed progressive softening of my finger nails- they split and break even with such minor trauma as fastening a button. I have not seen this reported elsewhere.

I started to have balance-problems, problems with depth perception, falling, walking with a cane, experiencing muscle weakness, pain and spasms, walking with a walker. Finally had to stop working because I could not get around by myself. I'm a 61 year old female on Zocor for three years. I'm seeing my third (via referral chain) neurologist. No-one has ever made an association with my progressive debilitation and Zocor.
I am going to STOP taking Zocor. I feel deeply that it is the cause of my neurological problems. Very limited discussions on neurological side effects.

My daughter is 4 years old and has been on Singulair for asthma for 1 to 1 1/2 years, with a break during the summer months. Her symptoms have been progressive. Starting first (and almost immediately) with inability to go to sleep at night, then waking up multiple times per night with bad dreams, next itching all over and stomach aches, and now increasingly aggressive/bullying behavior. She is normally a bright, outgoing child, but her outgoing nature has turned more and more destructive and aggressive. Last night she kicked her twin brother in the face. (No, he wasn't hurt) Her daycare teachers have complained over the last three months that she's bullying others and sometimes intentionally throwing things at others. Now it has progressed that she's out and out refusing to do things when she's told by her teachers (basic things like get a plate, sit down, and each lunch). She rolls her eyes when given instructions and is not looking people in the face. Toys seem to break "by accident" with her much more than either of her two siblings. At home she has made our family life miserable a lot of the time. Discipline seems to do no good. She says she doesn't know why she does these mean things and does not learn from her mistakes. She's starting to see herself as a "bad girl" and shame on me, so was I, until we started wondering about the Singulair. Be warned, for us it all added up over time. With kids this age you tend to assume it's just part of their growing independence, but we finally realized this isn't normal. We stopped her Singulair last night and are waiting to see if there's a change in her behavior. Thanks to all the parents that have written in.

I started taking geodon a couple years ago when I had a "psychotic episode" so to speak. They diagnosed me with schizophrenia. They put me on geodon which did wonders for me and helped all my symptoms go away. I'm perfectly functioning and capable now. However, Geodon does have some side affects that I"m dealing with. It makes me tired all the time. I'm tired all day and can't sleep at night. It seems to be progressive as in the longer I'm on it the more I have to take. If I miss a pill I get very tense physcially like and my jaw clamps down. I also feel like I'm going crazy if I miss a pill. Thoughts start to race, however the natrue of the drug is that one pill missed shouldn't cause psychotic symptoms. I can't think as clearly because it makes it harder to think abstractly. I take it when I need the down feeling. Sometimes more then it's perscribed. I'm clearly addicted to it like somebody would be addicted beer or pot, perhaps psychological. I tried to switch to abilify and I couldn't function because of the hard with
drawl from geodon. Good luck at your venture with geodon

I was diagnosed with a lung disease called BOOP. It is relatively rare and is progressive. I started 2 days ago (2/28/04) on 50mg. per day of Prednisone. So far I have some insomnia and a lot of "energy" during the day. Also, a lot of silliness. At what point should I expect the weight gain and moon face etc...? email me with any info you may have especially on this disease in particular. *******

I've also had more trouble seeing after using 1 spritz of Nasonex in each nostril once a day (for several months). I've also felt progressively more tired. Most concerning, and my reason for being here, is that I developed a Rosacea-like condition. My dermatologist dx'd me with mild Rosacea, which is unbelievable to me, as my family line has nothing like this in it. When I did a Net search on Rosacea, it mentioned that steroids can cause this condition. Also, Rosacea is progressive and can damage the eyes and even cause loss of vision. So, if you suspect that this nasal steroid is affecting your vision, I'd recommend getting off of it. Oral and nasal steroids can become systemic if taken for long periods of time. This is common knowlege in medical circles. I took myself off of Nasonex today and am already starting to feel better.
