I'm a mother of a lovely 6 year old child who has been on Singulair for four years. For four years, I've dreaded taking my child anywhere public for fear of her outbursts and for four years, I've thought that Kate perhaps has ADHD. Funny, but she had near psychotic reactions to the inhaled Albuterol the docs put her on due to some very scary episodes she had before the age of 2 with RSV. I never suspected that the Singulair they put her on for Ashthma might be the cause of the behaviors that she and our family have suffered with for years. I've called her doctor and told the doctor that I'm taking her off right now, IMMEDIATELY. I've even consulted with the doctor about her behavior but got the feeling that she just thought I was being oversensitive. For four years, I have had a hyperactive, moody, sleepless and generally unpleasant child and I am worn out and heartbroken. I pray that taking her off this medication will work.

I have never taken Prednisone, but when my daughter was 18, she was stricken with ulcerative colitis and was on prednisone and then 6-mp for quite some time. She nearly died from the 6-mp and even after 8 years, she has horrible "growing" pains in her shin bones from the prednisone. She had psychotic reactions to the prednisone almost a year after she was weaned from it - such a severe reaction that she spent a week in the psychiatric ward of the hospital. Of course, the doctors said there was no connection btwn the episode and the steriods, but I know better.
She eventually had her colon surgically removed, and was fortunate enough to have a j-pouch created at the end of her small intestine so she does not have a "bag"! I am afraid that she will always suffer some residual side effects from all of the drugs she was on, and may, in fact, be sterile.
She has not yet attempted to get pregnant, so we will see.
anyone on these meds for more than a couple of weeks needs to research their condition and find some alternative treatment! These drugs should only be a last resort!

I took Levaquin back in late July/early August for a bout with pneumonia. I am a 35 year old male with no major health problems, and in fact, I had been in very good health up until the pneunonia, which I am still at a loss to explain!

Anyway. I experienced a lot of things others have made reference to in this thread, including incredible anxiety, hallucinations, psychotic reactions, etc. I didn't know until much later that it was probably from this damn drug.

Now, I have read some posts and see that GLANDS are affected by this drug. I have had what the LAST ENT doctor I saw proposed was a reactive lymph gland. Since I have had it for, oh, 2 months and have no infection, I highly doubt it is reactive to an infection. So the light buld went off above my head and I am thinking that perhaps the Levaquin may be behind this MADDENING symptom that has rendered me without a strong voice and robs me of vocal power.

I used to sing, even with a friend's band, and although I never beat the hell out of my voice, reherasals were for hours. I may have been hoarse for a half day but I NEVER had a problem recovering and NEVER had a pain like this.

My vocla chords have been examined, I have had a CT of head and neck and been poked, prodded, diagnosed with anything from NOTHING to tonsiloliths (tonsil stones - yeah right, tonsil stones), but here I am, 3 months after I finished my course of Levaquin, still unable to do what I used to love.

If anyone else out there has a similar problem, I'd be glad to hear it so I can at least feel vindicated somewhat.

Thanks all.

Nick
