I am in my second month of ADVAIR HFA 115/21 inhaler. Take two puffs twice a day. Great improvement in my lung capacity. I am 72 and enjoying senior aerobics twice a week, the treadmill, and senior tennis. Pulmonologist also wants me to take Xopenex, which I do about three times a week.
Tonight, I developed a vaginitis. The after-hours nurse and I think it's from these two steroids. I also wake up with leg cramps.
Any help to stop the cramping and the vaginitis.
For those with dry mouth, try Biotene products. They are marvelous. For sores in your mouth and on your tongue, get your doc to prescribe triamcinolone 0.1% paste. Fantastic.

Hi, I was on Prednisone for a little over a month for Crohn's disease. I had minor side effects while taking it: couldn't sleep, no patience, dehydrated, dry eyes. It is the side effects from AFTER stopping prednisone that concern me. I''ve been off Prednisone for 3 weeks and I think I am losing my hair and getting acne-that I didn't have before or during taking Prednisone. Anyone experience side effects that started after stopping the med?

Greetings - I have been taking Singulair for just over one week - since I have moved to a different town my asthma has been really bad - I have been visiting hospital once a week and using Flovent and Ventalin. I have not had a problem with asthma (except occassionally from exercise or cold air) for over 10 years. I am not or have not been on any drugs (not even aspirin) ecxept ventalin (only about a dozen puffs a year) for many many years. Since I have started the sungulair as well as symbicort inhaler I have been able to breath fine (first time in 4 months), however I have had extreme cramping in hands and feet and constant backache in lower back. My whole body is weak and sore and I am feeling fuzzy headed. It cannot be a coincidence, unless it is the symbicort, it must be the singulair!

This medication made me crazy. I was taking it for pneumonia and was instructed to take 2 puffs 4x per day. I did not sleep for 2 days. I dropped the dose down to 1 puff in the morning. Things are better, however pneumonia not gone.

I am a 42 yro who has been using Advair 250/50 for over a year now. The Doc prescribed 2 puffs a day but I prefer to take 1 puff every day (shhhh...don't tell the doc!). Before going to Advair I was taking albuterol inhaler on an as needed basis (allergy/exercise induced asthma). I am not sure if its old age, or me moving from NE to the SE USA (where its hot & humid), or Advair itself but I am noticing that I am getting more and more dependent on Advair to the point where If I don't take my once-a-day-puff, I find myself starting to wheeze. I was never like this with Albuterol. Sometimes I wonder if there is a chemical in Advair that makes you become dependent on it just so the drug company can make more profit on your depenency. The other two minor side effects that I attribute to Advair is the occasional hoarsness in my voice, and a minor tingling sensation in my arm and leg (Restless Leg Syndrome?) at night. Anyone else can make a connection between Advair and RLS?
I don't smoke, drink caffine free drinks, athletic, and work out regularly, and take no other medications or vitamins.

I have been on Advair 250/50 for 2 years now and it has been a MIRACLE drug for me. I have moderate/severe asthma, diagnosed at 11 and now I'm 43. I was constantly taking puffs from my albuterol inhaler and now I rarely use it. I was initially prescribed Advair 2x/day but reduced to once a day because I felt "jittery" on 2x/day. Occasionally, I get some hoarseness but it's the Kathleen Turner sexy kind of hoarseness, so I don't mind. I have never had any adverse side effects from this drug other than the jitters but that was gone once I went to 1 dose a day. I also take Singulair for asthma.

What to do about ADVAIR.....
I was introduced to Advair 8/02 and like the posts here I have experienced most of all the side effects.Complained to my Pulmonary Doctor and was told that there are no known side effects....Ha
Last Oct (04) I weaned myself off Advair 250/50 and felt terrific-for about 2 months and then I became very weak and stepped up on my Combivent puffs.Had to use 02 24/7 instead of only at night and excertion.Come April when I saw the doctor he said lucky I saw him that day as next week I would have seen him in the hospital. I did agree with him so I went back on Advair. I only take it in the morning.I don't feel I have any nightime problems,so for me one dose is ok. It does help but I would prefer to be on a drug that has no steroid in it..Betwixed & Between..

I am a 33YO female diagnosed with asthma since 2 years old. I have been through the ringer with every medication known to man to treat asthma. I have tried , ventolin, intal, singular, becatide, blah blah blah!!!. I was a 2 puffs a day , never leave home without it albuteral user. I couldnt dance, run or have "fun" with my husband without an attack. ADVAIR CHANGED MY LIFE. I AM A NEW PERSON. I am living life without my crutch of my albuteral. I NEVER gets attacks except maybe once a year. I am a firefighter and work like I never thought my lungs would let me. I feel like my lungs are soooo much stronger now. HOWEVER, if I do not take my advair I will notice within 12 hours a slight tightness in my chest. I take 250/50 once each night. my doctor prescribed it twice morning and night, but I eventually weened myself down to once a night. I have put weight on, but who cares, I can breath. Hope you all can feel the relief I can from this lifechanging medication. thank you

I am absolutely relieved to find this website and all these side-effects you won't readily find on www.advair.com. A couple months ago I went to see a pulmonary specialist after having recurrent bronchitis for the last 4 years. He prescribed a nasal spray (I don't have the name in front of me..) to take for one month, and gave me a 28-dose Advair Diskus 250/50 with the instruction that I should start taking it IF I feel symptoms of bronchitis coming on and then take 2 puffs/day. On 01/15/04 I started taking Advair (today is 01/28/04) and either yesterday or the day before I felt I had to blow my nose and when I did, the tissue was covered with blood. Since then I've had 3 or 4 more nosebleeds. (Before Advair I think I've had maybe 5 nosebleeds in my whole life.) I called Advair's "if you experience problems.."-number (888.825.5249) and they told me that either 3 or 4% of people in clinical trials experienced nosebleeds / epistaxis. Right now I'm awaiting my doctor's recommendation as to whether the benefits outweigh the side-effects. I've also felt tightness in my legs and my skin has felt very dry the last few days. So depending on what my doctor tells me this afternoon, I think I'm done with Diskus.

I took Advair for asthma for the past 6 months. At first, it did make me breathe deeper, and I felt like my lungs were much stronger. I never had to use my Albuterol before exercising. It was like I didn't even have asthma anymore.
Then I forgot to take the diskus of Advair on vacation with me. After not using the Advair, my asthma came back and was more difficult to control. It took 4-5 puffs of my Albuterol inhaler to relieve my chest tightness and wheezing. My Albuterol inhaler barely worked on my asthma after being on Advair. It became clear to me that Advair had actually made my lungs weaker.
I have been off Advair for about 3 weeks, and my lungs are still weaker than they've ever been. My chest is still tight, and I have difficulty inhaling. (It's almost like my lungs have forgotten how to breathe.) I feel like there is a stack of books on my chest. I also have a slight burning feeling in my chest especially when I inhale. I'm just hoping that these symptoms are not permanent.
I started doing deep breathing exercises 10-15 times a day(Inhale 8 counts, Hold Breath 24 counts, Exhale over 16 counts...) which are slowly strengthening my lungs. My friend, who had asthma as a kid recommended swimming and meditation.
I am turning to Chinese Medicine. I no longer trust Western drugs.

After 9 days hospitalization for bronchitis and asthma, doctor gave me prednisone and combivent inhaler for 6 weeks. Both were stopped and I was given Advair 500/50 - 2 puffs twice each day. Within two days I experienced sever blurred night vision. I suspected Advair and cut dose in half-1 puff twice each day. A few days later, I awoke with tingling in legs and severe mustle pain down the front of my right leg, not allowing leg to stretch back far enough to walk properly. I quit Advair. Am on combivent for time being. Tingling has mostly gone away and pain in right leg is gone.

Breathing restricted for some hours after inhalation. Inintial reason for taking was viral induced asthma. I think the dry tightness I am feeling in my chest for much of the time, is not asthma but a side effect of the pulmicort. (400mgs, 2 puffs x 2 daily)

10/18/2007 I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma 4 years ago. I have been on Flovent HFA 110MG (2) puffs every morning. That seemed to be working fine but about a month ago my asthma got worse. My Doctor prescribed Advari 250/50 twice a day. I took my first does Monday (10/15) and within 4 hours had a horrific migraine, such horrific pressure in my head I thought I was going to pass out. I threw away the Advair IMMEDIATELY however, 4 days later, my headache is better but still there a bit - that intense pressure is coming and going in waves, heartburn that has made me sick to my stomach and I feel this AWFUL pressure and soreness on the sides of the neck and in my throat. Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea when I can expect some relief? Thank you to everyone who posted - it made me feel so much better.
My Doctor made it sound like Advair was the best drug EVER -- that is so wrong.
