Update on my experience with Lisinopril.
After 3 ER visits & 2 hospital stays the palpitations quit when the HCTZ (diuretic) was removed. Adjustment of dosage got the B/P readings down to acceptable levels but some side effects remain after 2 weeks. Dry-eye syndrome and over-the-counter drops do not help. I'm up most of the night-time.
However in the daytime after I exercise I feel sleepy and can sleep for a couple hours time.
Wondering if this side effect will go away or what. Anyone with the experience ?

hi all. thanks for writing your comments here. it has helped me today, another HORRIBLE day of prednisone hell. i have been seriously ill for 8 months been told ever other week I'm likely going to die from lung disease (i'm 35) and after a painful lung biopsy have been told my lung problems are almost all reversible... after a year on high dose prednisone. i was on 40mg a day for a month a while back and was so out of control from rage and crying and insomnia and panic/suicidality, ravenous appetite, that they lowered me to 30. then after biopsy they said i should be on 100mg to cure me, we settled at 60mg. it's been 24 days. The moon face started about one week in. i've gained 8 lbs. i am an emotional wreck. i have at least one rage filled attack per day where i am screaming and want to kill somebody or destroy something. some days i am so filled with hopelessness and worry i just want to die. my body changes (after just losing 30 lbs and being a work out fanatic my shortness of breath makes it impossible to walk up 2 flights of stairs without resting) face changes, acne, excess body hair (oh my god please make it stop i'm like a chia pet and i'm so afraid it is going to get worse) double chin, puffy eyes and cheeks, absolutely uncontrollable emotions and mood swings, inability to be logical or reasonable. i don't want to leave the house, i'm panicked and scared all the time. i never sleep. ambian gives me minimal relief (just started taking it) i feel like i'm losing everything, except my lung functioning is returning and i'm not going to die from this illness (they assure me THIS week) i understand light at the end of the tunnel, but living like this is unbearable most days, almost impossible the rest of the time. am i alone with the severity of this? or are all the others like me too busy hiding the sharps and crying in a corner to write on this board? thanks for listening :)
figures, forgot to mention what HELPS. no eating after 8 (7pm is better) no salt, no sugar, exercise, even just a walk every day, anything physical, i walk like a grandma on the treadmill but i still do it, sometimes it is the only thing that stops my crying. no alcohol, support and understanding from loved ones, it's not you, its the drugs. good luck.

I was diagnosed with strep throat about 1 week ago and at first the doctors tried to kill me! They had prescribed amoxicillin--I am allergic to anything with "cillin" in it, and before heading home, I caught the mistake. The doctor apologized profusely, and then prescribed me erythromycin. Upon taking this drug, my face became swollen, and my eyes were itchy and red and my throat stung and my ears burned like fire! I returned to the doctor's office, and he was like, "oh, well, you're allergic to this, too! I'll give you some Bactrim. It helps for UTI's". I don't have an UTI, but I was desperate for anything to stop the burning pain. After taking Bactrim(sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim) for two days, my throat felt much better and the ear pain was gone, but I had a horrible rash on my chest, arms, back, and face. My eyes became itchy and puffy, and after day six of the treatment, I stopped taking my medicine. I couldn't take the rash or the itchy eyes anymore. Something strange happened: I felt just great! My skin had cleared, and no more itchy, puffy eyes! Now, two days later, I wake up to another sore throat AND itchy, puffy eyes. I do not have insurance, and any treatment I receive comes straight from out my own pocket. Could this stuff be silently killing me? Please someone help me with this strange dilemma

I have been on this disgusting drug for three weeks and today I ended up in the ER. I was prescribed Flonase and Singulair for allergies. I didn't have actual allergy symptoms but I kept getting sinus infections. Like many others posting I did not look at the side effects until right now. I have blurred vision, red itchy eyes (I constantly look stoned), pasty puffy eyes, cannot wear contact lenses anymore, body aches, ringing in my ears, and disorientation. I had a terrible reaction at work today. I started feeling like I couldn't breathe, then like I might pass out, and then started shaking uncontrollably. I'm disgusted that this drug is even on the market b/c it is ruining my quality of life and that of so many other people. I'm 27 years old and I have never felt so lethargic and unmotivated. I struggle to keep up at work (I'm a social worker) and the doctors at the ER asked me if I have anxiety attacks. I never have had one in my life and am normally energetic. I feel so weak right now that I am barely able to hold a bowl of soup and eat. Thanks for posting and spread the word about this awful drug!

I took my first dose of Levaquin at 6:30Pm on January 3rd. Soon after I developed a sunburn like rash, puffy eyes that got really bloodshot, a severe-severe headache, fainting, low blood pressure (70/40,) pain and heaviness in my knees that made it difficult to walk, pain in my back in the midsection, a ringing so loud in my ears that I thought something must have been banging on the house, and sensitivity to light and sound. The headache was so bad that I the air blowing through the vents at the hospital was painful to hear. I was in the hospital by 2AM, and remained there for 4 days. Mainly because the staff did not believe that the Levaquin was the culprit and gave me another dose once I was feeling a bit more like myself..

Well....an update on my update. Legs aching again. I thought the symptoms were gone. Apparently not. Leg pain and nausea. I am just hoping against hope (and praying!) that these are not permanent. I've been off the Levaquin for 2 weeks+ now after being on it for 12 days. This drug is a nightmare.

Further to my previous post, I'm finding it difficult waking in the mornings, really groggy with puffy eyes when i get up and I'm experiencing a burning sensation in my feet when I'm in bed - like they're right next to a hot flames. It's truely bizarre.

I have only been taking Levoxyl for about two weeks, following RAI treatment in May. I'm on 100 mcg. I had gone from being hyperthyroid to hypothyroid - with walking or much movement, it felt like the muscles in my back were being stretched from each side and held up to a sunlamp to the burning point. I was also having upper back pain and a stiff neck.
After a little over a week of taking Levoxyl, the stiff neck is still there, but the back pain has eased off a little. There is just one spot that feels like a sunburn from the inside out. The biggest problem I'm having is with the sodium content - it feels like I've eaten an entire shaker of salt. I suspect that my blood pressure is increasing on this med. I'm noticing restless leg syndrome and while I always have tinnitus, it has worsened in the past week. I'm also noticing fluid retention all over, puffy eyes, puffy fingers, and calves. I'm also having more headaches.
On the plus side, the unbearable muscle pain has eased up some, as I mentioned. I'm less depressed. It's too soon to tell about weight but I think I've stopped gaining for the moment.

I have taken some sort of medication for hypothyroidism for many years, perhaps as many as 22 (I am 51).
Over the last few years, I feel like my health has deteriorated. Frequent, severe headaches, irritability, moodiness. My face had a sunken look.
I asked an expert in alternatives about the headaches and she immediately said that Levothyroxine has headaches as a side effect. I had not really considered the side effects of this medicine at all--I thought of it as completely safe. (The side effects didn't pertain to me--silly thinking, I know.)
Well, except for the thinning bones! Just a few months before, I read in *Strong Women Stay Young* that levothyroxine causes thinning bones. My doctor had diagnoses osteopenia, which is the beginning of osteoporosis. I don't want that, but it may be too late. (I am started a strength training program to strengthen my bones.)
I decided to stop the med. and try alternatives. The headaches lessened, but did not cease. Ran out of the alternative. Now I have what one site called "moon face." Puffy. Eyes look smaller. Very interesting -- makes me think I was taking too much before, because I looked haggard.
But even more interesting to me was the level of my general anxiety (and thus, my irritability) is down. Yes, I am tired, but I am also calmer!
Long story short (I know, too late for that!), side effects: headaches, anxiety, irritability, haggard expression, depression, thinning bones.
Here's to hoping that the alternatives work! I want to clear this med. out of my body (especially my brain) and try to feel better with healthy alternatives.

I also suffer from puffy, irritated, dry eyes and when my dosage was too high, I also had bloating. Hair was falling out but I think it is slowing down some. Most of all I'd like to know what to do about my eyes, I can't seem to get any help from doctor.

Was put on Intravenious prednisone for a severe allergic reaction on June 12th. Was in the hospital for five days. dosage was 20mg twice a day. Been on that for three weeks. Now weaning off 10mg twice a day for 7 days, then 10mg once a day for 7days and 5 mg a day for 7 days. Side effects have been moon face, puffy eyes, bloated stomach, leg cramps, tingling legs ,arms and hands. Headache and neck pain.insomina. I look in the mirror and don't know the person I'm looking at. The medicine worked to stop the severe reaction I had , a rash the entire body, face neck etc. Throat closed up due to drug allergy to zocor. The side effects are terrible, it totally changes your body functions and after reading these post , It is scary to think the negative side effects it poses. I hope out there , they may be an alternative drug available with less side effects in the future for eveyone who needs this for whatever disease they have. I wish all of you the best and hope that your symptons will get better in time as you wean off .

I started taking Singulair 3 months ago for Asthma/Allergies and like most of you loved the immediate results. For the first time I could make it through the night without using my inhaler or nebulizer treatments.
But, I noticed that over the last 4-6 weeks I have had severe reflux and feel like I have a constant pressure under my ribs. I have also felt really bloated in my stomach, and had some sharp shooting pain under my ribcage on my right side. I thought it might be my gallbladder, so I went to the doctor and had some lab work done and found out that my liver enzymes were elevated. Also, my weight was up 10 pounds since I started the singulair three months before. My doctor said these were side effects of Singulair, and asked me if I had experienced any other side effects on this list she had. As she read them off I wanted to cry.
I was shocked!!!! Over the last six weeks I had experienced so many side effects that I had simply contributed to other things. Things like.......increased headaches (one so bad I missed work a day) , itching, nausea, earaches, puffy eyes, and water retention. The stomach pain was due to an inlarged liver....not my gallbladder like I had suspected. My doctor did some research and found that I was not the only person to come in with abnormal liver function that she was treating with Singulair. She is now considering dropping this drug from her usual prescribing list.

I'm 36 w/high chol. Dr. has me on 80mg Zocor-its lowering chol. but cannot stand side-effect of eye pressure(puffy eyes), lowered sexual drive, headaches, rashes, and most of all loss of short-term memory and some depression. I notice that if I do not take it for a few days most of them go away. Does anyone know if any of these could become permanent?? The dr. does not seem to believe what I am saying about the drug. The side-effects are very real to me!! Whose interest does he have in mind??? I have heard similar storys here. Good luck folks!!!

If I take the 30 mg dose Allegra helps my allergies (mostly Alder and grasses, itchy, runny nose, chills and puffy eyes) and energy level. If I take 60 mg I get a severe, itchy, bumpy rash on my face and neck and into my hairline. If the low dose isn't enough to help my alleriges I guess I will just deal with the allergies instead of the rash.

My father in-law told me to look up this site and I am so glad to see that I was not the only one and I wasn’t going crazy thanks everyone for sharing your stories
