Because of uncontrollable high blood pressure, my doctor put me on Maxide. I was on them for about 4 days and the doctor ran some more tests and called me at work to come to his office immediately During that time I was feeling so fatigued, I could not lift my arms because I did not have the strength. When I would go up the steps I was so winded and my legs got so weak by the time I got to the top no matter how many steps. I just wanted to curl up and not be bothered. In addition I had stomach pains. When I got to the doctors he told me I looked as bad as my test results. He had already ordered me a bed in the hospital and the nursing staff was waiting for me. By that time I was so tired that I could not hardly walk or even lift my purse (they carried it for me) so the nurses and the doctor took me to my room and the only thing I could do at that point was lie across the bed. They had to undress me and take me to the bathroom. My kidneys had started to fail and my body was shutting down, bit by bit. I could have died if my doctor had not been alerted to my condition by taking a test after a couple of days. I do not remember what the test was but if you are taking Maxzide ( which I consider dangerous) then insist that your doctor tests you for possible serious side effects no later than 3-4 days.

I am a 52 year old women , except for a yearly resistant sinus infection I would describe myself as very healthy and have only minor aches and pains for my age. I was prescribed Levaquin by a walk- in physician after 2 months of a sinus infection. Within a week I felt 100 years old . I could barely get out of bed, the pain in all my joints was excruciating the first 5 minutes and didn't improve a lot during the day . I didn't think my legs would hold me upon rising from any position. After one week of finishing the drug I started to feel better.......it has been two weeks now.... I'm still sore and weak , especially noted in hands and legs .

Ok, I thought I was crazy..until I read this site!!! I have lost my purse TWO TIMES this week!!! Once at work, once in a cart at Walmart, (thank God someone turned it in) and my credit card! I was in the middle of canceling the card with the company when I found it in the couch. Then today, I left my keys on the floor of my son's daycare and searched frantically until the daycare worker was vacuuming the floor and found them for me! I thought it was stress, but I'm thinking now that I've been taking Yaz for about 3 weeks it could be the Yaz. ?????

My mother is 74 and has been on Lipitor 5 mg for about 6 weeks now and has experienced her 1st TGA. She called me today to tell me that someone had come into her house and cooked a platter of bacon and moved a basket around. She couldn't find her purse and went outside and sure enough it was in her car, but the door was standing wide open and the purse was sitting on the seat. She remembers nothing! This evening she swore that our second child was born in a different house. This from a woman who can remember the tiniest minutia. This Lipitor is terrible stuff! She is now officially off of it. In theory, this sounds like an excellent choice for birth control; no pill to take every day, no carrying it around in your purse, etc.. I started NR two weeks ago and have literally turned into a monster in front of everyone's' eyes. Not only did I have an AWFUL headache for the first few days but I've also gained weight, have had HORRIBLE cramping and have had a strange spotting for a little over a week now. I took the ring out tonight and plan to go back to on the patch right away as these side effects aren't worth it.

Hello everyone
I am so glad that I ran across this page. I was on the NuvaRing, a little over a year ago & I only stayed on the ring for 2 months due to side effects, burning in the vagina, discharge..things like that. I gave it up along with all bc. It was the end to a long game of switch the bc, everything is making me crazy, lol. Well last month I went to my ObGyn and after almost a year of only 2 weeks between my period and heavy spotting..and no BC to blame it on, I was told that I have 3 fibroids and a small ovarian cyst. I was also told that we should try bc..to maybe help the spotting and other issues. I am really bad with the pills..I set alarms, keep them in the purse..still don't take them, Not to mention I get soooo sick with them. Did the patches and felt like I was crazy after a year and half..I mean leg pains, depression..damn near every side effect..you can think of. Dont want implant or depo so went back to the ring. Ne way the Dr. said that the issues I had the 1st time with the ring..could have been from a yeast infection or vaginal infection and that I should try it again.

It has been 2 weeks and and the vaginal issues are not bad..sometimes I feel a little something thats not normal..but I can deal with that. The emotional issues are my problem. I have been with my BF for 2 years..we have not had a rocky relationship, problems with cheating or anything else. Nothing more than the usual couple spat.. everything is good, well was good. I feel like an emotional time bomb..yesterday I started a huge debate over him not giving the average girl credit for being beautiful (which he tells me I'm pretty and sexy and all that good stuff!) and praising these women on tv and in magazines (which he didn't do, I asked him if he thought a girl was cute..he didnt want to answer, for fear it would backfire on him, but I told him it was ok..and then tore into him 4 no reason). I feel like I am not sexy enough..pretty enough, this was not an issue before. I feel depressed, I just made a huge to-do list for goals in life..was so hype about it..now nothing..its whatever. Everything is whatever. I have no mojo about ANYTHING. I don't even want to read..and that abnormal. I feel paranoid about things that were never issues..like is he cheating on me..& nothing has changed in his behavior to make me think this way! I am worried that by not taking the bc, I will suffer from my issues from before. I haven't been on the ring long enough to know if its gonna help my issues, like the crazy 2 week bleeding spell and having cramps, but in seeing how its effecting my mood..I don't know if I can wait to see! I feel bad..really really bad. I wish that BC did not have to be so crazy on your body! Its like damned if I do damned if I don't!

Thanks ladies for being so open and honest..good to know I am not the only one..or just making myself think something is wrong when its not..because there is.

I think some of the severe symptoms reported here are just that.. severe, and as advised on the drug information insert they can happen, and should be reported to your doctor. We are led to believe our doctors will stop the meds and try something else. If they are not willing to do that, or try to convince us it's all in our heads then... we should stop the meds ourselves and find another dr. These side effects are real, and scary. I've stopped cholesterol meds for that reason. I don't need a dr. to tell me to stop... I know my body, and how I feel and know when something isn't right.

I've been on Lisinopril for two weeks now. I was initially on the diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide, but had so much arrhythmia that I thought my heart would jump out of my throat. The dr. discontinued that after less than a week, and put me on Lisinopril. I am a bit dizzy sometimes, and do have a mild cough, but I had the cough before the meds so I can't really blame it on that. However, for all those with the problem of coughing and headaches... I read at drugs.com that you should take this medication with a full glass of water, and drink lots of water throughout the day. This tip was not in the drug handout and I thought that odd. Something so easy, and yet left out. Luckily, I drink water at my desk all day at work. This weekend while home I didn't drink water and had a horrible headache the entire time. I never connected it until I read that you should drink lots of water. Back to work today and drinking water and my headache is gone. It's worth a try, it might help. My husband is on Lisinopril/HCTZ combo, has been for at least 3-4 years with no adverse side effects.

We are all different, medication effects all of us in different ways. I hope I never experience the kinds of side effects I'm reading about here. If so, I'll be off the drug in short order. My dr. told me there are loads of other medications we can try. While there are side effects to everything we take, mild is ok but no one should put up with life altering and/or life threatening side effects like what I am reading here.

Effexor XR has been a life-saver for me! I have been taking 150mg per day for about 8 yrs. Recently, 75mg was added to my daily dose because of a temporary new stress or on my plate - divorce. With the increased dose came constant sweating and unbearable dry mouth. I dropped back to the 150mg dose and the sweating is back to being manageable and the dry mouth is much less. I can't imagine living without Effexor XR - this anti-depressant has literally saved my life -- I know now that life doesn't to be so horrifically painful as was the norm for me prior to taking Effexor XR. I have no other side effects - I have gained some weight but only over the past two years and that possibly can be attributed to my age (50) and the stress of a bad marriage. The half life of Effexor is short and I do sometimes get the electrical shock feeling in my head -- that usually a red flag that I missed a dose. To be on the safe side I keep a dose in my purse as a back-up. All-in-all, it feels great to be 'normal', even if it means using Effexor XR - I hope it never goes off the market. Way-back-when, I initially started out w/ Paxil (helped, but I felt just below the surface of reality and had horrid withdrawals) - then tried Wellbutrin and after a day was so terribly spaced out that I could only minimally function and couldn't even leave the house - got off of that stuff immediately! Effexor just lets me function and feel feelings at a normal volume. Thank you Lord!!

severe headaches, dry iychy skin, nausia, vomiting, sand paper rubbing together sound in my head, very weak, slow speech, achey muscles, in a fog, disconnected, unable to make decisions, terrifying dreams I am afraid to go to sleep as my nightmares never stop, stomach pain and cramps especially after eating, major gas, blurred vision, unorganised thought patterns, very difficult to think, cry uncontrolably, pain all over. This is what I feel like after one day of missing my regular 225mgs dose of Effexor. My dr. is now doing a brain MRI to find out what has been causing severe headaches for the past 8 weeks. She also said I have Cronic Fatigue Syndrom. She is eliminating other possible causes before blaming Effexor, which I have been taking for 8 years. I am at panic state and find it difficult to function.I have been hospitalize with these symptoms only to be told I had some type of virus. One week ago I was arrested and put behind bars for shop lifting. This is freaking me out as I don't recall the actual crime, I do recall wandering aimlessly in the store for two hours looking at everything I could look at. I bought some items but lost the dog collar. It was in my purse!! Off to jail for 5 days without Effexor. I wanterd them to take me to a nut house because I could not focus and I got sooo sick. Now I have to go to court and explain my Not Guilty Plee. I am distraught, frightened, and facing more possible jail time!! I am contimplating ending my life.I have never been in trouble with the law and am 52 years old.

I posted last week. My 16 year old has been taking singular for 4.5 years and has been off singulair 8 days now. She was given Fluoxetine by her Psychiatrist 2 years after starting singulair. This did not help her. Her grades had droped, she was depressed all the time, missing school because of stomach pains and headach (she had to be taken to the emergency room and given medicine for this and for anxiety attacks), She had tremors of the hands and feet, so,so sad all the time. Never smiled. It was nothing we talked about to family and friends (just her Doctor, Psychiatrist, and Hospital emergency room). She even started cutting her legs with razors. 3 days off of singulair she came into the livinging room and watched a movie with us. Her little sister said that sissy is getting nicer. I have not mentioned the singulair to her litter sister. 5 days off she came and sat with me in my oversized chair and showed me a very colorful purse (not dark) that she would like to order (which I did). She has not sat beside me in four years or allowed me to touch her willingly for almost that amount of time. She has eaten diner with us the past 5 days and smiles sometimes. I love her so much and am wondering if her life path has been forever altered by this medication or will she be able to recover from all this . TKU

This is the 3rd time I have been on Wellbutrin. Once in 1999, then in 2004, and just started taking it again 3 months ago. The first two times I took it I had joint pain and a lot of muscle inflammation. This go around is different... Just recently, within the past few weeks, I started breaking out with hives, after taking it with no problems for three months! Started on my head and progressively got worse. I break out all over my body, head, legs, back, hands, etc. For some reason it seems to happen more frequently when I lay down in my bed to go to sleep (weird!) One other scary side affect is, I frequently stop breathing when I start to fall asleep, and wake up gasping for air. Has anyone else experienced this?
Since I had never experienced problems with hives the first few times I was on Wellbutrin, I didn't think it was the medication causing the hives. So, I cut my dose in half (50mg/day). The hives didn't go away, so I stopped taking it all together 3 days ago, but still continue to get hives. Does anyone know how long it takes to get it out of your system?

The Dr. gave me Effexor xr 75mg for my depression and 0.5 mg every 6 hrs of Xanax. Since then he lowered my Effexor xr to 35mg. During that period I gained 20 lbs and now I have excessive sweating constantly at least 5 times a day just as if I was coming out a flu like symptom.

My depression is still there buy not as bad but I started to get worried about what was causing the excessive sweating until I saw this site. I will set and appointment with the doctor tomorrow and see what the next plan of attack will be.

I know I was really bad with panic attacks and depression but know I could like to not take any more medications at all. With the help of God and I will recover from my depression and panic attacks. I had depression, panic attacks rasing heart beats, could not focus, memory loss, constant crying, fear. I when to the ER twice tacking I had a heart attack. All heart exams normal.

Now I have to deal with getting off the pills and live a normal life. How can I do this?
