I find the above woman's comment very strange and out of the ordinary. I wonder if perhaps there is something in her diet that is causing such an adverse reaction. Vitamin B's, in high quantities, are exactly what women need. As a pregnant woman, it is B6 that reduces and even eliminates my morning sickness. The proper balance of vitamins and minerals in Optivite ensure the proper ingestion of the B6. Love these vitamins!

Less than 2 months after taking Lipitor I have been experiencing intense weakness of the legs, especially the hip area. A normally avid walker, last week really woke me up when I was unable to walk over 40 feet without having to stop from sheer leg exhaustion. I'd have to actually lean on my partner until I could manage to shuffle again- a shuffling gait is what I had to resort to just to make it back to the car.
This is bullshit because even though I've had some angina symptoms, right up until I went to the hospital I was able to hike; was still relatively strong.
So today I have spent hours researching side effects and have seen on this site alone many mentions of intense leg weakness and pain with Lipitor.
This, along with simultaneously educating myself on the truth about high cholesterol has convinced me to gradually cease taking this medication.
Instead I will replace with sufficient quantities of VitC, buckwheat combined with gingko, and of course I can never stop with the garlic because it is delicious.

I take Lamictal for seizures for 3 years. I had my first unexplained seizure at 25 and another 6 moths later. Both times I had drank heavily two nights in a row. After the second seizure I was put on the Lamictal. I was slowly ramped up to 100mg in the morning and 200mg at night. On occasion, I get horrible "poop pains" as I call them. It feels like my insides are being ripped apart. I can sit on the toilet and poop incredibly runny stool, then I have to wait up to 15 minutes for the second batch. The pain doesn't subside until the second batch but it is immediately gone. It usually only happens when I wake up in the middle of the night. I have tried to correlate it to foods that I have eaten and can't match anything up. I also have horrible short term memory. I sometimes tell the same person the same story twice and they will be like "you just told me that." Also, golfing is the best example. I have a hard time remembering my strokes. My long term memory is fine. As fair as hair loss, I was already on track to lose my hair before I was on the meds so I don't know if they made it any worse or if this is a natural progression. It seems somewhat rapid but I never loose it in quantities or clumps. I just notice it in my hats and beanies every once in a while. I also have a hard time falling asleep on occasion and if I wake up in the middle of the night I have troubles falling back asleep as well. The bottom line is that this drug WORKS. I can live with the side affects cause they are random and not that often. I am a volunteer Fireman and cannot risk loosing that again so I am too hestitant to change meds as the doctor said Lamictal has the least side affects of the seizure drugs.

My 9 year old son started Singulair 5mg about 8 months ago. Shortly after, he started to occasionally complain of stomach pain and not being hungry. About 2 months ago, they changed the dosage to 10mg. He now has chronic diarrhea and severe weight loss. We stopped the medicine about 2 weeks ago, but he's not "back to normal" yet. He's never had any digestive problems before. The doctor's recommending endoscopes, and we're at our wit's end.

Same here. Pretty much like a zombie. Numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Spaced out. Stoned like in high school.

Lisinopril robs the body of Zinc. I have been viciously researching this med and I found that a lot of symptoms posted here are zinc deficiency symptoms. Maybe a zinc supplement will help especially with the hair loss.
Signs of Zinc Deficiency
• behavioral and sleep disturbances
• dandruff
• delay in wound healing
• diarrhea
• different kinds of skin lesions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne
• growth retardation
• hair loss
• hang nails

• loss of sex drive
• mild anemia
• pre-eclampsia (toxaemia) in pregnancy and post-natal depression
• pre-menstrual syndrome, disturbance in your menstrual cycle
• reduced fertility
• skin dryness and rashes
• white spots on fingernails, transverse lines and poor nail growth

I was prescribed 20mg 3x daily for five days to treat "Reactive Airway Disease/Bronchitis." Yesterday was my 5th and final day of taking the medication and I noticed both of my shins began hurting for no apparent reason when I walked. I didn't think it had anything to do with Prednisone. Then, last night, I suddenly felt weak as if my blood sugar had dropped tremendously and ate a grapefruit while trembling with weakness to stop this feeling. Again, I made no association with this and Prednisone. Last night as well, I noticed that my shoulders suddenly became achey on both sides of my backbone for no apparent reason. This morning, I woke up and the pain from my shoulders had spread to my hips and the entire area between my shoulders and hips is tender to the touch. Today, after not taking any of the medication, I feel mentally blurry, have moments of what feels to be low blood sugar and flu-like symptoms. I'm also still experiencing the muscle pain in my back and hips although my shins seem better. My pharmacist told me to call my Dr. and seemed surprised to learn I was not weaned off this medication. All of the symptoms I have described above are side-effects that should be reported to a Dr. immediately, according to my pharmacist. Another less-serious side-effect that began yesterday is swelling in my feet, hands, stomach and face. I also had diarrhea today.

To mlkeene who's working on your Masters in Psychology:
5 year old children do not know what suicide is and do not have natural thoughts of killing themselves. I pray you are not the common student in the bright future of Psychology.
If the drug works for you that's fine. My opinion is that this is a very dangerous drug for small children and the parents who have seen these side effects can tell you firsthand. Bottom line is our medical community needs to be more aware of the possible side effects so they are not blind to what they're prescribing to our children. You obviously do not have children.

I started taking Lisinopril 20mg in early April. The week after I started, I began craving salty, vinegary foods (banana peppers in vinegar, pickles.) I also couldn't get enough V8/tomato juice. These are all foods I liked before, but I felt the need to consume them every day in huge quantities. I even drank the pickle juice sometimes! It took me a while to figure out the connection between starting the med and these cravings. I told my doc about it, but he didn't seem to think there was a connection. Well, I stopped Lisinopril a week ago and I haven't had any more cravings since then.
Also, I suffer from depression and I am almost positive that this medication exacerbated that condition. Certainly the fatigue that comes with taking Lisinopril didn't help things anyway. I also found the lightheadedness annoying, though it was livable.
Before Lisinopril, I was on Norvasc for five years and didn't experience any notable side effects. My blood pressure was always normal on Norvasc, whereas the Lisinopril lowered it to low normal (enough that I felt lightheaded.) Interestingly enough, my BP has been normal since I stopped Lisinopril last week. Go figure.
This medication and my body DID NOT get along. I won't be taking it again and I can't wait until the poison is completely out of my body!

I took Levaquin for urinary tract infection. After several days both Achilles tendons were so sore I could hardly walk. Also severe pain in both kidneys. That was about one year ago. Great quantities of cranberry juice cleared up the kidney pain. But there is still some pain in left Achilles tendon. An MRI indicated "moderate to severe damage". The doctor is not recommending surgery.

I am so happy I found this website, I have been taking Lisinopril for about 5 years now. I have been have dizzy spells or the tunnel effect for about 2 years now. I thought I was going crazy! I can't drive, sit in a meeting, or even sit through church and it's getting worse. I call my mother and just sit and cry thinking something is wrong with me. I'm so glad all of you came here to tell your experiences. I will stop taking this medication RIGHT NOW!!
