OK... I have had this thing now for almost 3 months...I choose this because I am now 35 and smoke.... I have spotted or full force bleed for the entire time... the insertion wasn't that bad... some cramping...but the swelling and itching of the breasts is unbearable. I can live with the swelled one if they would stay one size. The itching is unbearable. My mood swings were terrible... so bad that my family dr put me on cymbalta and xanyx thinking I was depressed and had anxiety. The cymbalta made me feel like I was on some sorta acid trip. So, I stopped those after a few days... and started using the xanyx maybe 2 times a week when I felt "weird". I started to loose alot of hair, followed by acne, depression, mood swings so bad that I couldnt function.. at work or at home. My daughters are teenagers and kept telling me it was that stupid thing that I have. I kept having the bleeding and brown discharge. I continued to have urinary tract infections... and they would go away. Finally went back to my family dr and they put me on Lexapro. I talked to him about my mood swings and said this would help. UMMMM NO... that made it worse... So I contacted the ob-gyn dr who told me that he was 99.9 percent sure that it was not the IUD and that I should contact a psychiatrist to get my "meds straight"... OK... wait... I needed NONE of this stuff before I got this IUD... THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE... I was seriously starting to think that I had brain tumor or something... I would just flip out... cry.. not able to focus... unbelieable .... just wanted to lay around and sleep and cry and just throw in the towel... I have printed out this site to take to my dr office tomorrow and have this thing taken out... and I'm calling that number too and telling them. And get off all this damn meds that has made me worse than I was before.. then I'll take that medicine to quit smoking... wonder what side effects that stuff has... I'll keep you posted!!! :) Thanks friends for making me realize that its NOT in my head!!!

I was compelled to write this because of all the negative comments that have been posted. I believe the symptoms people are experiencing are real, but I also believe that they don't happen to every single person who takes Yasmine. People tend to speak out more on the negative than the positive, and that may be part of the reason there's so much bad feedback. I've been on it for two weeks now and haven't had a single side-effect...nothing. Although I wouldn't mind the bigger breasts side-effect. ;) I'm 37 and haven't been on birth control pills in probably 15 years. At the time I started taking this pill, I also quit smoking with the help of Chantix, and still no major mood swings, depression, decreased sex drive, etc. I have very acne prone skin, but it's been MUCH less oily since I started taking Yasmine. I've had some breakouts, but no large cysts. I also started using Retin-A about a month ago and believe the pimples I'm getting now are from that, not the Yasmine. Bottom line, everyone is different, and not all meds work for all people. I would encourage anyone who is concerned about starting Yasmine or wants to come off just because of comments posted here, to think twice and talk to their doctor.

I have been on wellbutrin for 3 weeks (to quit smoking) broke out with horrible hives went to ER he said it was NOT from wellbutrin. I need to follow up with Doctor but I am afraid they will take me off wellbutrin. Hives are mostly gone. Continue to have some itching. I like the way I have been feeling and starting to smoke less and less.

I am participating in a research study for Wellbutrin helping smokers to quit. I am 25 years old. The study is a double blind study so there is a possibility that I am on placebo...but judging from my feelings - I am not. I have been on wellbutrin for 8 days now. I went from 150mg to 300mg in the course of 3 days. My symptoms/side effects include feeling "blah", not having interest in conversation, coordination problems (I have had issues with walking up and down stairs; almost to the point of falling), small episodes of memory loss, and I am thinking possible hair loss. The hair loss is the most devastating to me and I am going to stop taking wellbutrin because of it. I will find another way to quit smoking - there is no sense in taking something that is going to make me feel horrible about myself. Has anyone quit taking it and have their hair grow back?

I wouldn't try the patch because of skin sensitivity, shots just seem really wrong to me, but I have been taking different oral contraceptives for nearly fifteen years. Fortunately I haven't had a pulmonary embolism which was definitely a risk because I was a smoker the whole time. Every time I switched pill brands, it was because of insurance copays, it would be non-preferred. However, I was still diagnosed with endometriosis and had one ovarian cyst removed laparoscopically and one ruptured on its' own. Endometriosis is less common in women on the pill because of the ovulation regulation...so I imagine things could have been so much worse. I was able to ask to take the pill continuously, meaning I'd skip the sugar pill week. Oh heaven! Without the pill I have severe cramps, PMS, heavy bleeding, pain and numbness in the crotch area, diarrhea, and was emotionally unstable. Although I suffer from depression, I don't feel that the pill has affected that much at all. I've recently quit smoking, and now am on the Nuvaring because of drug interactions. I've been spotting for 10 days now at least, and been on the ring for a month. I know there is a transition period, but this is not acceptable. My request to my doctor is to get back on some sort of pill on my insurance's preferred list. I'm starting to break out too. I want my pill back!

Been on welbutrin (bupropion) 150mg sr for 4 years. I quit smoking after about 6 months the taste of cigs were nasty. I lost 30 pounds but also started my workout at curves. I have had neck pain for about a year now and I am wondering if this is a side effect of the welbutrin. Went to a specialist at a university orthopedic and nothing is wrong with my neck but the muscles in the back of my neck hurt constantly. Also has anyone ever tried the super dieters tea while on welbutrin. Overall I have had no side effects with welbutrin everyone is different though.

I am sooo relieved that I found this site. OMG. I was on the NR before for about a year and 3 months. I didn't have any side effects whatsoever. I went of the NR because my boyfriend and I broke-up and I wasn't having sex. About 4 months later, I developed 2 ovarian cysts that ended up rupturing in my right ovary. BTW, I turned 30 in the same month. I was in so much abdominal pain, hot flashes, painful menstrual cycle, passing huge blood clots, depression, crying all the time, thoughts of suicide, anxiety attacks, very irritable, easily frustrated, inability to concentrate, and nausea. I had NEVER had any bouts of depression, crying all the time, thoughts of suicide, anxiety attacks in my life before. NEVER! My OB/GYN told me my hormones were all out of wack and that I should go back on the NR to regulate my hormones. So, I went back on the NR, my cysts went away and I felt 100% better immediately. Now it's 2 months later and I'm having all the same symptoms I had before the NR, although, it’s not as bad as it was before. Apparently, I'm still ovulating while on the NR although the NR STOPS ovulation. I have developed more cyst(s), haven't gone for the ultrasound yet, in my right ovary, even though my last ultrasound showed that the last 2 cysts went away. Right now, I am emotionally drained and physically in a lot of pain. I think that if I get off the NR my symptoms would be a lot worst. I’m allergic to the patch because of the adhesive, coming off of depo caused too much pain, and I forget to take the pill. So I don't know what to do.

I've been on Diovan for about 9 months and I have all of the side effects everyone else here has mentioned! Weight gain, bloating, fatigue, mood swings, extreme muscle aches- especially in my lower back and legs, hunger, and more! These Drs. are sooo stupid!!!! They tell us to lose weight and then give all of us medications that cause weight gain. I am also diabetic and my Dr. also has me take Humalog insulin- which also causes weight gain! I would enjoy hearing from everyone who has had side effects from Diovan, and I would like to hear about alternative remedies for hypertension. Good luck and Best Wishes to all of you....Kim Q.

I have been on advair since 1999, I have gained over 50lbs since I started taking it. It wasn't until earlier this year did I say enough is enough, I can't do this anymore. I will have new insurance on 10/1 and will go to the doc then. I pray there is something else out there other than these inhailed steroids. Now I don't want to be without any meds because this has worked the best so far. I have been on azmacort, servent, q-var, flovent, predinisone, other steriod shots, singular and of course albuterol, slo-bid, proventil. My side effects have been yeast infection (mouth), migraines, rapid heart rate, bad dreams, dizziness and confusion, emotional spells, nausea and of course weight gain. I am glad I found this site. Thanks

I started on Advair 250/50 6/28/07 for continued wheezing, bronchitis problems even though I quit smoking 12/25/06. In mid July I began to have Lt knee pain, the dx from the Dr was "arthritis--you are getting older you know" I was 46 yrs old. I got a cortisone shot 7/24 since the pain was so terrible, the shot gave we 1 week pain free, then 8/10 I had #2 shot, same knee, again this shot only lasted 1 week, then pain returned with a vengenance. End of August I had an MRI done on Lt knee due to continued knee pain---this showed a menescal tear. So we are in the 1st week of Sept and the pain continues to worsen, now I have pain in Rt knee also. Grasping at various straws I re-read the Side Effects and Adverse Reactions to Advair. Imagine my surprise/shock to read under Musculoskeletal: arthralgia (Severe arthritic joint pain), bone and cartilaage disorders, muscle pain, muscle stiffness. Also wt gain.
Needless to say I quit the Advair..Even tho I had been on Advair for less than 1 month before my knee problems started . Next week I go in for surgical repair on torn menesci Lt knee, and so far so good with my breathing, but tomarrow I tell my Dr that "I quit the Advair, and the reason why I quit."

I am a 51 year old female that has experienced several side effects from lisinopril, especially when I started going into perimenopause at the age of 48. I am now menopausal, but I thought I was doomed to having hot flashes/night sweats, sleep deprivaton (wake up every hour or so every night), depression, forgetfulness, lack of concentration, bloating for many years to come. I discovered that the lisinopril was causing this when I went on a cleansing diet for a week in January and noticed that some days I felt great and other days I felt like crap. I realized the pattern was directly connected to whether I remembered to take my lisinopril. I started taking 20mg/day 7 years ago, was upped to 40mg/day 3 years ago and have stopped taking it for now so I can function normally, especially for my analyst job. I've been making some lifestyle adjustments (losing weight, deep breathing (I tend to hold my breath frequently), next I need to quit smoking) to lower my BP somewhat, but I am going to ask my doctor for an angiotensin receptor blocker (DIOVAN since some peope have mentioned here that they have been successful with that) when I have my appointment in 2 weeks. Uncontrolled HBP can cause more serious problems down the road, so I have to try to control it with meds for now while I continue my lifestyle adjustments.

Hello all, after reading all of your messages I am convinced now that the Lipitor is to blame on my symptoms as well. I began 10mg of Lipitor about 3 years ago and this past February was increased to 20mg, my cholestral readings was at 98 and now at 90. I also quit smoking in February. In April started to experience extreme pains in my arms and back, thought it was the mattress or pillows have replaced every pillow in the house, and have begun pricing mattresses. Have extreme bloating, gas and constipation. Went to the Drs. and was told its a reaction to quitting smoking as nicotine is a natural laxative. Sounds beleivable, never though of the Lipitor increase. Breast extremely tender and sore, went to the OB, had a mamograpghy everything fine, OB suggested researching Lipitor and bingo I'm a believer. Called cardiologist today and she has immeditaly lowered it to 10mg, and wants to see me in 3 weeks as a follow and possible wean off all together. I need to research the cholestral numbers and see how good or bad mine are at the moment. Again thanks everyone for taking the time and writing about your experiences and reading everyone elses. Good luck to all

I've been on Lisinopril for about five months. I'm a female, age 47 taking 20 mg once a day. My BP was 150/90 but now low at 100/62. Doc says my young age can support low BP for now. The chest pain and leg twitches are the worst. I'm constantly tired and find a lot of times that I just can't think clearly. I often awake at night with arms that have gone to sleep. Not sure though if the symptoms are from Lisinopril or the low blood pressure that it creates.
Wish me luck because I've decided to stay on the meds but try some lifestyle changes instead. I quit smoking two days ago but have often gone over a week and then caved for a cigarette. Only smoke about five cigs a day anyhow. Started walking when I quit, starting at a mile first (1/2 uphill.) Technically, I"m not overweight by charts but have never weighed this much in my life before. I"ve always had a slender, tall frame until just six years ago (turned 40?).
Also, not sure how much is stress related at every level of my symptoms. Working through a separation and hopefully divorce.. For now doc says stick with this med and lifestyle changes will win out.

Hi Everyone. This is a bit wordy, but please forgive me. I just feel compelled to put the whole story out there. In case some fine detail helps someone out there feel a little less random and crazy.
I have been having irregular, almost non-existant periods my whole menstruating life. i started menstruated later than most girls. i have a delicate relationship with my body weight, having to REALLY really control everything in order to maintain a healthy shape on a tiny frame. i recently was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. it makes a lot of sense... and im excited to clear up some of the symptoms related to this disorder (and yes, there is an odd laundry lists of odd symptoms... which never seemed too related before i pieced it together, just an annoying, sometimes embarrasing parade of weirdness)
Anyway. My doctor told me that if I quit smoking she would offer me A RX for Yasmin. because of the particular hormone imbalances I was experiencing, and the synthetic hormone in the BC, it was her first thought for a treatment plan. I was eager to quit smoking, so this added some incentive. I was also excited that I may get some relief from something as commonplace as BC pills. I have gone thru breif phases of using BC Lo-Overal back in my late teenage years, and don't recall any real side effects, maybe a tiny bit of weight gain, maybe a touch of the moodies... but nothing to write home about. Doc said this time would be different, and that while some other BCs would intensify my forementioned hormonal problems, this would/should/could do just the opposite.
Now for the punch line. Its just been one week. I feel crazier than usual. Like the most intense of PMSs is with me everyday, INCREASING in intensity everyday. My lower belly, uterus feels full and cramped. My already large chest just became even more "entertainingly full". I've always suffered with depression and anxiety, I'm no stranger to that. But this was such a fast and direct spike in that category, I can't ignore that.
My diet and excercise routein is excellent, the smoking cessation is difficult but successful, I take prozac to help with my mood/anxiety... I didn't think adding yasmin to the mix would make me feel as if my situation would become nastier. uhhh!
I understand BCs come with side effects, but for my particular situation, I feel like I'm bound to very specific hormone combinations, with little room to try out different ones. Its upsetting to think that Yasmin is being so rough so soon. Will I adjust? Are there other options for women looking to help with PCOS?
All this makes me want a cigarette real bad.
thanks for reading and thanks for all who tell their weird tales.

I've been on WB (generic) for about 3 weeks to quit smoking which I have. I am taking it at night with Xanax. I didn't know I was having side effects until I started feeling strange. I was dizzy at first, but thought I was just sick. I was also a little headachy. Today I was in the grocery pushing a cart and kept getting shocks in my left hand. I took my hand off the cart and it went away. My major complaint right now is feeling very depressed and hopeless, want to cry but ccan't seem to. Also feeling like I could lose control. If I go off this drug will I start smoking again?

i have been taking wellbutrin for almost 3 months to quit smoking (300mg/daily). BE VERY CAREFUL with antihistamines-i took one not long after i started the wellbutrin & felt that horrible seizure-ish feeling coming on, paranoia, racing thoughts & found out from another doc that they are not supposed to be mixed. which sucks for me, because i have suddenly become allergic to dogs & can't take any benadryl-my allergist says there is nothing that she can do until i can take it.
i asked about weaning off it (this med has me scared s*less now). i took it every other day for about 2 weeks. i haven't had it in about 4 days & i feel ok, a little psycho at times, but nothing out of the ordinary lol (i haven't been on it long at all, so i don't know if someone who's been on it for years should get off it the way i am). i just want it out of my system so i can get some relief from my allergies!!!

Not sure if the side effects are a cause of weaning coming off of Effexor or beginning Wellbutrin XR 300 mg.
I have been feeling quite dizzy and light headed, also very on edge for the past week. And I guess the best way to desribe it would be small shocks inside my hide. Like someone or something is pounding inside my skull. I weaned off of Effexor completely a week ago and started on the Wellbutrin XR 300 mg.
Anyone else experiencing similar symptons?

Wow! I am already such a skeptic about medications in general but my doctor put me on lisinopril 40 mg last Saturday because I am 29 years olds and my blood pressure has averaged up to 200/120ish to 159/110ish for quite a while now. I also quit smoking so I am scared the symptoms may be masked with the quit smoking symptoms...any suggestions for a proper medication I could request?

OMG, I am so glad that I found this site. The Dr. Has me taking Advair for about a year.
I am a 27 y/o Female and I quit smoking about two years ago. I thought my breathing and sense of taste would come back but after a while it didn't. I went to my doctor last year to complain about chest congestion, runny nose, all that good stuff. He said I could have some sort of fibrosis of the lung and sent me for an xray and when it came back he said I had little bronchitis and asthma. I have never had asthma and only one member of my family has it. I assume I got this because I am a former smoker.
He started me on the advair and at first it really helped. Then I ran out and couldn't afford it for about three months. Basically the whole summer. I went to see him for a follow up and he gave me two more samples. I started back on it for the past week and I feel worse. Last night, I though I was going to die and all I kept thinking was that I am too young to die. I had a racey heartbeat and a terrible taste in my mouth that only elevated my heart beat and anxiety. Finally I calmed down but I thought I was going to die in my sleep. I am so scared. I can hear the tick in my chest, you know that sound, it sounds like there is a wind up toy in there.
I don't know if that's the bronchitis again. But it wasn't there before the advair. I think it's creating mucus in my chest. The Dr. said that if any mucus came to let him know. I am going to try to get in to see him, I don't want to take advair again. I just don't know what else to do. I am terrified and though I lost weight for the Cholesterol, my stomach is not going away, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am 42 years old and I started taking wllbutrin to quick smoking. That aspect went fine and I quit smoking but, I've had two other issues come up.
When I suddenly quit taking the medicine, I became almost irrational and depressed. I had to go back on it and then I mellowed out.
The other thing was that I developed severe asthma. I had always had minor issues with asthma but I hadn't had an attack since I was a kid. It got so bad that I had to go to the emergency room and they said that wellbutrin was probly the cause.
Delema!!! Do I stay on the wellbutrin so I won't be a mad man or do I become a madman and breath?

Hello.
I am 26 years old with no health issues at all. Wanted to quit smoking, Dr. prescribed me bupropion/Wellbutron SR 150 mg.
I was instructed to take 1 pill a day for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I set my quit date and then take 2 pills a day. (300mg)
For the first 2 weeks...I really didnt feel like myself. Felt like I can snap at one moment and then calm the next moment. ok, not such a big deal.
During week 3 I quit smoking and increased the dosage to 2 pills a day as instructed. I quit on Saturday, July 16th 2006. On Tuesday i started off with my regionals itching like crazy! I wasnt sure why this was happeneing so i put some anti itch cream and helped some what. I would just keep breaking out with the same bad itch anyway. Then...Wednesday, July 19th I woke up 2:00 AM with real bad chest pains and I was itching all over the place. From my head, neck, arms to my back and front of my body and basically had rashes all over the place.
They would disappear from one spot and appear in a different spot. I then started researching all over the internet about te side effects and I did find a ton of people expereincing the same things. From 2 AM i couldnt go back to sleep because of the pain in my chest and the HORRIBLE ITCHING and rashes.
I went ot the ER around 10:00 AM and stood there till about 5:30 PM. When I was in the ER i started breaking out even worse. My right eye was closing shut and my right hand became so itchy and swollen it looked like i broke my hand.
They quickly gave me a shot of Benadryl and some steroid with it and after about 30-60 minutes... the swelling started going away. They didnt find any realtionship from the Wellbutrin and my chest pain and the itchingness which i didnt understand.
Anyway, i still have some rashes breaking out...I have been using Benadryl which will control it a little bit but then I switched over to Claritin because i couldnt stand feeling like a walking Zombie from the Benadryl.
I am still researching and waiting for my Dr to come back to figure out how I can get rid of the itchy rash breakouts. I also feel just mild pain in my chest about once or twice a day for about 10 minutes.
If anyone knows anything that can help me...I would appreciate it.
thanks.

I miss me...WB has turned me into a zombie and I'm more depressed than before. I've only been on it for 5 days, but I don't think I want to see if it works out after reading these posts. One of my major complaints about WB are the constant hallucinations. While mild they make me anxious, agitated and a little paranoid. I don't have much in the way of visual hallucinations, mostly hearing sounds and perceiving them to be threats and smelling odd smells that don't exist. I'm also emotionally "flat", have no interest in anything and I'm shaky and feel very cold most of the time. And I've never had anger issues before, but now I don't trust myself around anyone. I just want to be alone. I was told this medication would work for Seasonal Depression and help me to quit smoking, but right now I miss how I normally feel. Has anyone else had hallucinations? Do they go away or should I quit taking WB right away? It doesn't make sense to suffer for a full month when my seasonal depression only lasts for 4 months anyway - does it make sense to hang in there and see what happens? After reading these postings, if WB doesn't work for me, I'll go back to being un-medicated. It doesn't seem so bad now.
I'm taking generic 100mg SR twice a day. After only 5 days, do I have to worry about withdrawals if I quit?
