Hi
I am in the UK - where any knowledge of side effects related to Yasmin appear to be non-existent. I was prescribed this to treat my endo after having problems with another pill (constant bleeding and mood swings).
Initially it was like a magic pill - immediately improving the mood swings and stopping the constant bleeding. Then after about 4 days I felt so nauseous I wanted to go home from work - this lasted a few days.
A week and half into my first pack, I suffered continuous asthma attacks - with no obvious cause, this developed in hours to spontaneous vomiting along with a hacking cough.nI was prescribed antibiotics for "infections". The symptoms continued until it was unbearable and I was put on anti-vomiting tablets. and changed onto a different antibiotic.
A week later back at the doctors surgery I had a series of tests - awaiting results as I type, as I have very dark urine, stools that are not "normal" (clay or yellow), pain in my stomach, pins and needles, continue to vomit if don't take the anti vomiting tablets. Have now stopped taking Yasmin and await results...
HOw long does everyone appear to improve after stopping taking Yasmin? Also does this sound like I may have a case of hyperkalemia? (I am awaiting results).
Many thank

I have been taking Loestrin 24 for almost a year and a half now. At first the pill seemed like a godsend because it offered me shorter periods and more time in between period. However, I have recently become sexually active with my boyfriend and the pill seems to have turned on me completely. In May, I experienced an alarmingly light period with barely any bleeding and almost non-existent cramps. I attributed it to stress at first, but took a home pregnancy test just to be certain. Thankfully, the test came back negative so I put it out of my mine for awhile.

The following month I yet again experience a period that was barely the equivalent of spotting. Alarmed, I went to see my gyno. She told me that barely to no bleeding is completely normal with Loestrin 24, which is something that she failed to tell me of before I began it.

Tonight is my second night of iron pills in my pack and I have yet to bleed at all. On top of that, this entire month I have been experiencing night sweats, headaches, abnormal weight gain, and extreme irritability towards my loved ones. I can barely even stand to talk to my boyfriend on the phone regardless of the fact that I know I love him very much.

Should I stop taking them? Is there any suggestions for better pills?

I was on Yasmin for 6 months and all i can say is get off this pill! I was on linessa before. my doctor then said that if i switched to Yasmin it would clear up my acne, (which isn't that bad to begin with, have very mild break outs around that time of month and then that is it) so i thought hey way not give it a try cause who wants acne in their late 20's. well since i switch i gained 30 pounds in under 2 months and went up 3 sizes in my pants! how can this happen when I eat healthy?!? and never put on this kind of weight with the other pill (which i was on since being in my late teens) Also in the last 2 months of being on Yasmin, my emotions have been so out of control, i freak out about everything I can't control my anger, then when i'm all by myself i just brust out into tears, i felt like i was on a roller coaster and wasn't able to get off. And the finally straw that made me switch was the never ending period! it started off normal then after 5 days i thought hey its going to stop but sure enough i still had clots and deep red blood, this continued for a month finally stopped for a couple of days and then started all over again! my doctor suggested to take 2 pills a day! i laughed and cried due to having no control over my emotion and then when to another doctor who finally listened to me and put me back on my old pill, now everything is back to normal well almost still trying to lose all that extra weight i put on!

I had the Mirena for almost 5 years. I am in my 40's and a mother of 3. I never had heavy periods before and was never overweight. I am 5'6" and always weighed no more than 135. After my first 2 children I lost the 20 lbs I had gained very easily. After my 3rd, I had the Mirena inserted and have struggled with the weight ever since.
My GYN removed the Mirena on Feb.3 and I was okay at first. Two days later I started bleeding heavily. I had to lay down with the heating pad as much as I could for the next 3 days. Then I started to feel better. Yesterday I started spotting again and today I am bleeding heavily. I have not had sex since removing the Mirena. I have heavy clotting and bright red blood just like less than 2 weeks ago. The GYN said it could take 6 weeks for my body to get back to normal. I wish I would have never had the Mirena. Why didn't the doctor explain the side effects? Why does the pamphlet say weight gain is not a side effect? What a nightmare.

I have been reading the comments here for a few weeks. I had the Mirena for almost 5 years. I had it inserted after my 3rd child. I have never been overweight. I gained 25 lbs. Felt bloated and pregnant all the time, and had horrible migraines caused by the hormonal fluctuations. I also felt like ants were crawling all over my body. Last Tuesday, I finally was able to get the Mirena removed. When the GYN removed it I felt a little cramping. That was it. Off and on the rest of the day and the next day I had cramping and a little spotting. Thursday, I started passing huge clots and lots of bright red blood. I came close to passing out. Friday it slowed down a little. I spent most of the weekend in bed and now the blood slowed down. I am feeling better. Less bloated and I lost 5 lbs already. The GYN said it will take 4-6 weeks for my body to get back to normal. Other posts I read say it could take up to 18 months. I would never recommend the Mirena to anyone. I would have removed it sooner but did not have insurance. I tried to do it myself but couldn't get to it. Now I am hoping to get my body back in balance and 25 lbs. Thanks for all your posts.

I finished a 5 day course of 1000 mg a day over a month ago. About a week afterward, I started having sharp pinging pains in the "bend" areas of where my colon is. Painful gas and bowel movements, and blood in the bowl. (not in stool) Also have had gum pain and mouth ulcers. My intestines feel blistered. I'll be ok a couple of days when eliminating, then suddenly a bowel movement will be followed by bright red blood and tissue. Very scary. I am taking Acidophilus, trying to eat carefully and drink only water, nothing harsh or citrusy. I have pain on the left side of my gut mostly. Under ribs, at waist and very low left side. I'm afraid, but then, this is a harsh drug and I do not have fever, have not dropped weight, lost appetite, or felt weak. I just feel like my insides are shredding and ulcerated. I will NEVER take this again. It's odd, because I have taken it before, for much long than this. I refused to take the last 2 doses the former time, because it literally tasted like fertilizer smells when i would belch after a pill. Vicious drug. I am watching myself and my issues, and hoping I don't have to have further treatment and that I have not totally ruined my colon beyond repair.

I've been taking Osteo Bi-flex with MSM Advanced for about a month and the only significant and serious problem is that I bleed deep red blood from the slightest injury and have a hard time getting the bleeding to stop. I have never had an issue of this type before and cannot afford blood loss because I get radio frequency treatments in my back and bleeding is the most serious issue of the treatment. I am due for one now but I would be terrified at this point nor would my Pain management doctor touch me under the circumstances. Has anyone else out there ever experienced a bleeding problem while taking Osteo Bi-flex with MSM Advanced?

Relative with lung cancer was given Omeprazole 20 mg. once a day. On the second day, he started coughing up huge amounts of red blood which continued for hours and lessening throughout the day. That evening he questioned if the new prescription could have caused the bleeding and decided to discontinue its use. By the third day and since then (this is day six), no blood at all. None of my online searches suggested bleeding as a possible side effect.

I've been taking Aciphex for 5 days. I might have to stop taking this medication because it scared me. This happened when I went to bathroom, I saw red blood on my stool in toilet bowl. I've never made anything like that before. Besides, I feel weak all the time when I'm on the medication. I'll call my doctor tomorrow. Just wanted to share my experience here. Wish everyone have a healthy and happy day.

I've had my Mirena for about 15 and a half months and I am having it removed today at 2 o'clock. At first I had sharp pains when I would sit down and I felt like the cords were poking me and irritating me. My OB/GYN requires patients to come back one month after having it put in so he can check it and make sure it is still in place. At this visit he also trimmed the cords although he acted like he didn't believe me when I told him that I could feel them poking me when I sat down and that it hurt. At first I didn't notice any bad side effects, but I did have one good one: my periods stopped, but I still had occasional and sporadic spotting. I didn't think to look for any bad side effects because I got the device under the impression that it had no bad side effects. I thought it only had a rare complication of perforating the uterus, but since mine was in place at the one month check, I didn't think about anymore until I started thinking about having another baby recently. I went online to see if I had to have a doctor remove the Mirena or if I could do it myself, and I found out that it's best done by a professional because bad things can happen and then you'd have to go to the doctor anyway. Plus, I didn't want to hurt my chances of having another baby. While online I discovered this whole world of message boards where women were having a lot of the same problems I'd been having in recent months and they all blamed their Mirenas. Some claimed that their problems had gone away since having it removed. I never thought to link my circumstances to the Mirena, but when I saw how many women are having the exact same problems as me I knew that I needed to go ahead and get mine out ASAP. Here is a list of my side effects, and I've found other women have had them as well with Mirena: weight gain, bloated stomach, depression, short temper with husband and daughter, acne, low sex drive, spotting, cramps, constipation, and back pain. There may be more, but I can't remember them all right now. Some of them may not even be related to the device, but I've read of so many women with Mirena who are having or have had the same issues, so I suspect a link between my problems and Mirena. I hope this helps someone out there looking for answers. God Bless!

i just posted a few days ago about cramping and spotting after the second week or so of being on this pill. it has been 5 days and the spotting has changed from a brownish color, to a blackish color, and it is now looking liek just regular red blood, but there's only a little. sometimes the bleeding/spotting gets a tad bit heavy, but it never leaks through dry liners that i wear. i am a very bad hypochondriac and although my boyfriend always pulls out on time and i take the pill everyday at or around the same time, i keep thinking i could be pregnant. can an aspirin like ibuprofen or cold medicine decrease the protection? i haven't been able to get a hold of my doctor and any information would help.

My son is being treated for an ear infection and this is his first time on omnicef. I have noticed day #2 and my 15 month son's stools were maroon colored. My first thought was blood as well, but I was told this is a normal reaction for omnicef to turn bowels orange or maroon colored resembling blood due to reaction with iron in the diet. The pediatric nurse assured me that this is normal and they look for symptoms such as bright red blood in the stool, black stool, and abdominal pain. My son's appetite is good and he is now after day #2 afebrile and doing just fine. However, I will continue to be observant.

My doctor switched me to Ovcon 35 after I was spotting two weeks before my period on Estrostep. This is my second month on Ovcon 35 and both of these months I have had brown dishcharge spotting with lots of dark clots starting with the second week of my pack like the Estrostep. I have had no weight gain yet (X fingers crossed that I wont ever) have had nausea however which may or may not be related. My breasts also get very sore about the same time that the spotting starts in the second week and this lasts through my period, which is not much of a period, it is exactly like the spotting except it turns to red blood. ??? My yearly is next month, but I dont know if I want to change to higher dosages of hormones because I've gained weight on them before.

I have been searching the web for side effects to this antibiotic & found this site. My 20 month old daughter has also experienced the big itchy bumps all over her body & brick red stools from this medication. I have been told this is an allergic reaction & to use benedryl until everything clears up. I have also been told the red stools can be GI bleeding & if it is it will be mucasy or have red blood streaks in it & that it is very serious if so. I got my info from nurses & doctors over the telephone. I had planned to take my baby to the ER just to relieve my own worries, but after reading all the other people that had the same reaction I will just watch her closely. I would like to hear from those of you that have dealt with this reaction in your babies & how long it lasts & the ending results from this medication.
Thanks :)

I am a 40 yr. old female who was given a kenalog injection in March of this year for inflammation in my lungs due to a bad cold. Within 2 wks I noticed an indentation at the injection site (right buttock) Since then, it has continued to grow much deeper and bigger. The center is so deep that it is all the way to my bone. I am no longer able to wear a bathing suit, or tight clothing because it is very obvious. When I went back to my Dr. was told he had never seen a reaction like mine and couldn't offer any answers about whether it would continue to get worse, or if it would repair itself. (he said he would have to consult another Dr. for information) In the meantime, I have been bleeding off & on with huge clots and bright red blood ever since the injection, but until reading this forum, didn't connect the two. (Neither did my Dr. apparently) I am going for an MRI this week to hopefully find the source of the bleeding which I'm certain now is from this horrible injection. I am scared to think of what other side effects this drug may have caused me and others! I was never given any disclosure from the Dr. or the nurse who admistered the injection about ANY of the possible side effects. Something needs to be done about the misuse of this drug and the lack of information given before it is administered. Please ladies think twice about ever agreeing to a kenalog injection!

I have been menopausal since 1999. I had 80mg of Kenalog injected in my lumbar region. 12 days later I felt like I was getting my period and have had vaginal bleeding ever since. I have cramping and bright red blood bleeding. Anyone else had this effect? The doctor and nurse practicioner laughed at me when I said I thought the Kenalog caused it.
