Reoccuring symptoms and conditions

First off I will begin by saying I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2006.
I just finished 10 days worth of Levaquin 500 mg.,(for a sinus infection) that seemed to be reoccurring after 2weeks of Augmentin generic), the whole time while on it I've been experiencing horrible side effects. I'd say the worst one is joint pain..(.especially knees & hips), Left shoulder, neck,upper back burning-miserable pain, unable to sleep (from what I remember of the last 6 days only 21 hrs. of sleep!!) dizziness, nausea,bad muscle pain, lower back pain, weird stomach pain, bloating, urinary retention, (was tested for an UTI-negative! )
6 days into it returned to Dr. because I'd been up all night itching like CRAZY, along w/the lower bk.pain,urinary problems, and a rash on face, chest, &upper back. (she attributed the rash to sun-photo sensitivity....had not even been outside!!) I also developed a yeast infection.( Expected I guess after 24 days total of antibiotics.)
debilitating headache, Very irritable, weepy,anxious, sore throat, very VIVID nightmares twice.
On the last day of taking it 3/3/09...had to run a couple of errands...felt dangerous behind the wheel..just plain weird & ILL!!!!!
Had taken this twice before since 2006 (also for sinus inf's.) thinking back...I felt like hell then too...but attributed to a Fibro. Flare. Now I believe that it was BAD REACTIONS to the Levaquin. I will NEVER take this med. again, have been so miserable would have rather been dead. (and I KNOW that's terrible to say!!) I take Morphine Sulf SR on a daily basis for the fibro, but it WOULDN'T even begin to touch the pain I've been experiencing while on Levaquin. ( Had mentioned that at the Drs. appointment, she didn't EVEN put 2+2 together....well I have!!) I'm VERY upset about it!! I reported it to the FDA.GOV/medwatch. This drug should be taken off the market in my opinion. I will be returning to see her if these pains,ETC. do not stop by tomorrow.....I'd had my fibro fairly under control before the Levaquin. Just to mention I was drinking plenty of water..due to dry mouth. I'm happy I found this site, I was looking for info as to how long this med. stays in your system. After reading many other postings here, I KNOW that what I've been feeling is NOT just a FMS flare, but caused by this Levaquin.

Started taking 2 1/2 days ago for BV. Also taking Flagyl. I have noticed a thick discharge that resembles pottery clay!! I've heard the grayish discharge is normal and can last up to 2 weeks. I was wondering what else may be in store so that there are no surprise side-effects.

I have been on Yasmin a little over 2 years now. I have been on other BCP, such as Tri-cycline, Alesse, Diane 35. Yasmin was great in the beginning, no major side affects, except for the breast tenderness. This past year, the breast tenderness has increased and I cannot even touch my breasts. They are larger and very sensitive. I am very moodie, very emotional. Every month now, for the past 4-5 months, I have been having yeast infections. I went to see my gyno and did tests and nothing is wrong. He has no idea why the yeast infection is reoccuring. I've done some research and read other postings and some other women have had the same issue. It's very frustrating and I cannot take having yeast infections every month. I take Yasmin to help with my cramps, and primarily the endometriosis. I have had surgery (5years ago) to remove endometriosis and my gyno mentioned to say on the BCP to decrease the spreading of endometriosis. Although, Yasmin has been a pretty good BCP, I just can't take the breast tenderness and most of all the yeast infections every month. I will be going off Yasmin next month.

Taking for reoccuring sinus infections. I thought that the sinus infection itself was making me feel nauseated, and severe headaches, come to find out it is the doxy. They wanted me to take a low dose all winter, I am stopping this med, and calling my doc!! Kathy

Avascular Necrosis - Beware!

I have been taking Prednisone off and on for about threee years now for reoccuring iritis. Have been up to 60 mgs./day a few times, and many of the times I taper, no matter how slowly, the iritis comes back. Since you can go blind from iritis, I guess Prednisone is the lesser evil.

Anyway, during my first longer period of taking it, I had many of the common side effects - weight gain, double chin, facial hair, hyperactivity, moon face, etc. After visiting a classic homeopath, he gave me a remedy which kept the iritis away for a few months. Subsequent attacks did not respond to the remedy though. I have been back on Prednisone for about 8 - 9 months now, and have a drastic side effect to report, which I haven't seen before here.

After a long road trip (10 hours) I began to have strange pains in my upper right hand thigh, which seemed to eminate from the leg joint. No matter what I did, they didn't go away and not even 2 Lortabs could help the pain. I went to the orthopedic doctor and he diagnosed avascular necrosis. The is a condition where the blood flow has been cut off to the bone, in this case, the femur, and the bone begins to die off. If it can be detected in an X-ray, it is already pretty far along. An MRI, which I had yesterday, shows best what is going on.

This is a DIRECT side effect of long-term prednisone use which no one ever told me about! So if you have joint pain, especially at the end of a longer bone, BE SURE and talk to a doctor about it. It is going to be a serious deal to get rid of this.

Hi there, 35 y/o male, in decent shape (though have moderate to severe allergies and get reoccuring sinus infections). In Mid-Nov '04 was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and was perscribed a Z-pak and 500/50 Advair diskette. Symptoms improved some, the wheezing I was experiencing subsided. So after a few weeks of taking the Advair I started to get this deep phlem, in my epoglotis/trachea area. Seemed I was always having to clear my throat, was getting very annoyed and concerned. So I went and saw a Ear, Nose & Throat MD who diagnosed me with GERD. Put me on a very restrictive diet, non dairy products, no caffiene, alcohol, sleep w/head propped up at a 30 degree angle, and yada yada. Also perscribed Protonox for acid reflux. Well, it seemed to help some, but now that I think about it, it kind of coinincides with my Advair perscription running out. Then I started getting the slight wheeze back, my doc put me back on Advair 100/50 2x/day. The whole time though I've had this persistent annoying phlem issue, I thought maybe it was still atributed to the GERD, but now after reading all of your posts, I'm beginning to think it might be caused from the Advair. Long story short, seems I've had this phlem issue, dry throat, some dry cough and I'd say a 10lbs weight gain in the four (4) or so months I've been on Advair. Am I going nuts, or could the phlem issue really be caused by the Advair? Feel free to email me at ****** if you have/are experiencing the same/similar symptoms. I was prescribed Lavaquin for a reoccuring strep infection. Today is my 7th day on the drug.

Almost immediately upon taking Levaquin I began to feel unusually anxious and depressed. I did not link this to Levaquin, but thought I was experiencing some sort of unusual mood swing. The anxiety and depression continued with the use of the drug, combined with slight nausea and a general feeling of apathy. I took the medication again this morning and thought I might check online and see if there were any strange side effects--my doctor had mentioned that it could cause one "to dream."

I am now wondering if my anxiety and depression--the second being totally unusual for me--can be linked back to using Levaquin. I notice that most side effects mentioned here have to do with muscle and joint pain. My joints feel fine, but my muscles in my back, shoulders and neck are unusally sore and tight--something I'd normally attribute to anxiety.

I've been on Yasmin for about 6 months, the first week of "active" pills are the worst. I experience all of the same symptoms as i did in the beginning, (nausea, breat tenderness, stomach discomfort and shortness of breath). Once concerning, reoccuring issue is the small rash on my breast EVERY begining on the month. I've been experiencing MAJOR mood swings and all over unhappiness. My appeitite has increased greatly which has caused me to put on several pounds...I want to discontinue BCP all together but am curious as to what is the safest way to do so. Does anyone have some side effects that have occured once you've stopped taking Yasmin?
