I began using Nuva Ring about 20 months ago and, never having used any form of birth control before, thought I had found a very convenient form. Around the same time I started using it, I also moved to a new town and new job and my relationship became long distance. I had a lot of anxiety, but thought it was from the move. I have since gotten married and the anxiety and panic attacks (mostly at night) did not get better, even though I could not identify any clear issue that was making me anxious or depressed. I have had more headaches than previously, but mostly was concerned about the constant anxiety -- including sometimes a tightness in my chest. I took my ring out this month and am going to start using a diaphragm. I will re-post in a few weeks to report on whether or not going off the nuva ring resolves these symptoms.

Hi melkel18,
My negative side effects occured after I stopped Yasmin. I was on it for one year and felt great until two months after I stopped it. I have been in the er 3 times with heart palpitations(all test normal), elevated blood pressure and heart rate. I also am suffering from extreme anxiety attacks which I never had before. I have been seeing a psychiatrist and tried antianxiety meds(marginal help).
Another side effect was numbess, tingling, burning or heat sensations on the left side of my body(cheek and arm). I saw a neurologist-mri neg. for ms. She said probably anxiety!!!
This has been a horrible 8 months and I hope it resolves soon. All my physcians deny it was the Yasmin but it all falls so into place. I was so despondent until I found this web site and felt I had a concrete reason for my symptoms and that I was not crazy! Take heart and listen to all these ladies. It truly has helped me.
Take Care,
ES

The side effects I have experienced are severe stomach pains and cramping nowhere near the time my period should start. I have been on many different brands of birth control and have never experienced this before. I have also been getting slight cramping in my legs. It's funny, you don't realize the pill is doing this to you until you read all the other women who experience similar side effects from it. I have also had my skin worsen once I started the yasmin. I don't have the greatest skin, but usually bc somewhat resolves the problem. My breasts have been extremely tender, and became very swollen during my period. I am a little worried about my side effects. I have also been experiencing headaches, which is not very common for me. Does anyone know anything about ortho-tricyclin lo. I am thinking about switching or going completely off bc because I have had nothing but bad experiences.

I've been taking this pill for about 6 weeks. I got so tired I could hardly get out of bed, and I usually work out 4 mornings a week. I felt like a zombie, very spacey as well. I quit taking it 2 days ago and feel marginally better. I hope this extreme fatigue and lightheadedness resolves soon.

I
I am currently taking a 40mg lipotor. I have devloped chronic hives mosttly on my arms and thighs. The itchng is so bad that I scratch these welts in my sleep. I have been on Plavix 75 mg since my first cardio-chatherization which has made my blood so thin that I actually bleed when I scratch. I'm now in a itch and scratch cycle that keeps me from sleeping. My doctor originally started me on 10 mg. This was before I started having clogged coronary arteries'. I am 74 years old. I have just had my second bypass operation. I started on lipitor 10 mg about eight years ago. I developed a hive like welt in my groin area. This welt or hive itched so bad that I damaged the skin. I went to a dermatoligist and the only answer he had after a biopsy was that it was probably Lichon Planus. I had a triple pass July 18 2007. That is when my doctor increased my lipitor dosage to 40 mg. He had increased it to 20 mg several years. I finally realized that it may be the 40 mg dose that causes me to wake about three hours later with Hives and itching that is so bad that even scratching doesen't relieve the itch.
I have seen two dermotoligsts. They can find nothing that I am allergic to. This condition has gotten progressivly worse over the last three years. I am taking Zanix and Benedryl I have eliminated all of my other medicines as the cause.
The only thing I could see as a possible cause is acute anxiety. After seeing my family doctor he prescribed the Zanix.
My last hope for relief is to get off Lipitor. I stopped taking it two days ago
and I already see a change in this chronic hive condition; I am assuming that it may take a while to see if I have solved my problem.
Incidently I started takng Zocor about three years ago instead of the Lipitor and I had such severe neck and shoulder pain that it was obvious Zocor was the cause.
zocor was the cause
