500mg 3 times a day for 10 days, vomited once, have had a horrible headache that started day b4 yesterday, still kinda have it, comes in waves, sux real bad lol

i have Sinusitis, Bronchitis, and a severe respiratory infection.

i see some guy on here mad cuz the doctor didn't tell him he would have bad headaches, like the doctor was going to know in advance he would. this anti-biotic affects different ppl different ways, its really not his responsibility to go over every single side-effect this very common anti-biotic is going to have, thats why the pharmacy gives you a huge pamphlet informing you on the medication, if you would had read it then you would see that headache, diarrhea, and constipation are all common side-effects

i didn't read it however, until i came here and read what i read, which is comforting really cuz at least i know why i have the headache so bad, and why i lost my lunch yesterday, was actually worried maybe i had an infection in my brain and thats why i had it, i know, sounds dumb, but what can i say, im paranoid lol

I took my 2nd Avelox pill at 10am this morning, by lunch time I felt very jittery and anxious, and had isolated tingling in my left hand and foot. Tonight I had severe abdominal pain and then the subsequent emptying of the bowels (ok, that's gross!). I am a healthy 39-year old woman who has never had any side effects from medication. This was prescribed for a sinus infection. Thank you all for your posts about your experience with this horrible stuff. I feel better knowing that I'm not going crazy. Unfortunately, because this is a once-a-day pill, this stuff is still in my system. For those of you who are posting on this site saying you've had no side effects and this medicine worked great, you probably work for Bayer in their PR department....if not and you really did not have any side effects, this site is for those of us who HAVE had side effects.

I took Topamax 50 mg for about 2 months and experienced a change in menstrual bleeding. I wonder if Topamax effects progesterone levels. I had light spotting 5 days before period due for both months. This medication also made me very depressed and angry. I quit taking it about 5 days ago and felt the depression lift on the 2nd day after stopping the medication. This was my 2nd round for Topamax. My first time taking it I worked up to 100mg and lost 15 lbs in just a few weeks. I had no appetite. I also go very sick with a respiratory infection and dry coughing. I had menstrual problems with the first round too but didn't figure out if may be the Topamax until my 2nd round. It did help my migraines significantly. But I'm uncertain how if potentially messes up menstrual cycle. The warnings for the medication says "menstrual problems" but doesn't go into detail. Anyone else have menstrual problems.

Since July 12, 2009 (Saturday) my life has been altered by a cure for a UTI that caused me to be taken by ambulance to the E.R. with a 105.6 fever. The horrible feeling of waking up shaking from the fever and not being able to stop it was scary. That was quickly followed by an ambulance ride to the local E.R. It was explained to me that the cause of my fever was a UTI that became a kidney infection. The E.R. doctor prescribed Levaquin 500 mgs for 10 days and Lori-tab for the ache very typical of a kidney infection. I am a 42yo woman who owns a motorcycle, swims, dances with a group and loves to wear beautiful heels. My life has changed since that night in the E.R. July 14 (Tuesday) , I was in my doctor's office complaining about bad headaches and feeling achy. I asked if this should be a concern since headaches were part of the warning label. The response was to remain on the antibiotic since the benefit far outweighed the side effects. The rest of the week was full of aches, pains, swelling, and a cloudy mental state. By Friday, the 17th of July I was laying in bed after noticing I no longer had ankles and I hurt all over. Thinking maybe this would pass I rested for an hour and my partner came to check on me. My jaw was tight and felt like it was locking down, every part of my body, every joint was hurting including my head. I called my doctor's office and asked if this was an allergic reaction and should I go to the hospital. The on-call said she was at the E.R. and maybe I should come in to be seen although it would be a long wait time because they were busy. I was seen, they talked about finishing with Cipro and then decided they would give me Bactrim. I asked how long I could expect to feel the effect of the Levaquin, the answer was 3 to 4 days. Since then, I have been in and out of the E.R. with acute and chronic pain. Walking has become almost impossible on some days. All of a sudden I have a back and hip problem. I am getting lumbar epidurals now and have sold the motorcycle. Oh, Dr. Higgins said, "Levaquin is a great drug". This was a E.R. doctor that was angry that I asked if this seemed to be an on-going issue from taking Levaquin. I am desperate to be pain free for even one 24 hour period. A storm of depression and clouds have set in...the thunder is my pain....

I started taking doxycycline hyclate 100mg twice daily for 10 days for a respiratory infection. After about 7 days I started noticing tingling in my hands and feet and feeling like I was being misted with water on my arms. The tingling became worse and is now very painful in my hands but more so in my toes. It is especially worse at night when your trying to go to sleep.
It feels like the nerves in my hands and feet are raw and going crazy. Nothing relieves the pain. I took my last pill this morning and will never take this medication again.

Wow, is all I can say. I just found this website this past Thursday morning before going to my Doctor. I am off it now and back on Diovan thanks to this forum. Here's my story... I switched from taking Diovan to Lisinopril-hctz about 3 months ago because it was way cheaper. I started getting a mild runny nose, and cough that didn't go a way.It was getting harder to sleep as the days went by. I tried sinus, allergy, cold, and cough medicine with nothing helping. I went to a different doctor at a local after hours clinic and they gave me a steroid shot for allergies. I have never had allergies all my life. I am 36 yrs old and work outside for a living. I knew something was wrong and started to get a little worried. I went back to see my main Doctor on May 5th and he switched me from Lisinopril-Hctz to 30mg of Lisinopril because I thought I was going to the bathroom more often. I questioned the side effects again and was told you just get a dry cough and what I had is allergies and gave me a prescription for Astelin. Not long after, my hell began. I started having the EXTREME coughing, gagging until you vomit, stuffy runny nose, and I was starting to get a little anxiety. Not to mentioned scared at this point. I could not sleep at night due to the coughing fits. I would sleep best after I had some drinks at night, so that became my sleep aid. I got a respiratory infection late May and took a Z-pack and Lohist 12d. I got a little better. This past Sat I woke up with a sore throat and something like a cold. Sunday morning I woke up with the sore throat that was worse and a panic attack! I was freaking out, pacing around wanting to go to the ER. It took 3 hrs to calm down and fell asleep. Sunday night anxiety kicked in again at bed time and I didn't know why. I just knew something was very wrong with me and mentally I was losing it. I took some melatonin and still couldn't sleep because of anxiety and coughing. Monday I was afraid of what was going on mentally and started to question if I was safe to be by myself if a bad panic attack occurs. I scheduled an appointment to see my doctor on Thursday. Hoping I could make it till then. Monday night I took a melatonin trying to stay calm and keep anxiety down. Could not sleep, bad coughing and gagging, but started to wind down about 1:30 am when it started. I was laying down making my ears pop/click and for some reason I could not make my right ear pop before my left ear. All the sudden anxiety kicked in full force. It took a long time to calm down that night. I finally did get my right ear popping before the left one. Its sounds funny but it wasn't at that time. It was official, I have lost my mind. I did not sleep at all wed night before my appointment. I did find this website that morning before going and felt better after reading other posts. After talking to him I switched back to Diovan. He still was leaning towards allergies though. He told me to take benadryl at night and claritin during the day and my coughing may take about 4 weeks to see improvements. I had my hopes ups on Thursday, but after reading a lot of posts here I am still discouraged about the outcome. For those of you that had anxiety attacks at night, how long before those stopped? Also how long before the coughing and gagging starts to slow down or end? Is there anybody that stopped taking Lisinopril, but symptoms have not improved? I am glad I found this forum and happy to be back on Diovan. Right now with the way I feel with the sore throat, coughing, gagging, vomiting, sinus pressure, anxiety, I am still unsure on the outcome and what may come next....

First of all, a big thanks to all of you who have shared your experiences. I am a biochemist, with a background in pharmaceutical research...I chose the Mirena IUD after careful consideration of it's active ingredient, Levonorgestrel. The side effect profile seemed pretty acceptable...until I started to experience nearly ALL of them...I am 33 years old and had the Mirena IUD placed in October of 2008 after the birth of my second child in June of 2008. The initial reaction was to be expected...cramping, a little spotting etc...nothing to be alarmed about. I still have yet to have a period (which I really don't miss so no problem there) I never gave a second thought to this until now...for the past month or so (coinciding with the weening process, since I have been nursing the entire time, I believe the side effects were not as noticeable) I have been experiencing the following (that may or may not be related to Mirena as my OBGYN has so adamantly pointed out, but after reviewing your posts I'm willing to bet they're connected) and are in order of occurrence: Major, but temporary, hair loss after 2 months or so; Major respiratory infection lingering over a month with difficulty breathing, tightness and pain in the chest at around 6 mos; And in the past month, several instances of motion-like sickness/ nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, major impatience/ mood swings, loss of appetite (pregnancy-like symptoms...yep, I was thinking man I'd be pretty pissed if I was that 0.01% pregnant statistic), and as of this past weekend, my first aurora migraine with tunnel vision and serious nausea and vomiting, to the point where I went to Urgent Care...who referred me to the ER...who wants to perform a battery of tests including a head CT. I have an appointment with a trusted GP tomorrow to discuss possible root causes...but it is to coincidental that so many women are experiencing these same symptoms! I am certainly leaning towards having this removed. CAN THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE HAD THIS REMOVED PLEASE RESPOND IF YOUR SYMPTOMS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED OR WERE RESOLVED!!! THANK YOU!
These side effects seem to go well beyond a 5% rate of incidence according to all of you who have reported. I will investigate further and keep everyone posted. As someone who is highly experienced in the pharmaceutical industry, you bet your a$$ I'm going to get to the bottom of this! Good luck ladies!

My husband was prescribed 500 MG of Levaquin for 10 days due to respiratory infection. When I got the medicine home, I read all of the warnings and possible side affects. He is 61 and has had tendon damage in his shoulder and his lower leg from taking Cipro two years ago. He had severe joint pain from Bactrim and hallucinations from Flagyl. From these previous antibiotics he still suffers pains and limitations of movement. What is worse is that they prescribed Prednisone with the Levaquin. It clearly states in the warnings that Levaquin taken with Prednisone increases the likelihood of tendon damage. The warnings state that people over 60 have increased risk of tendon damage. Why on earth did his doctor prescribe this? My husband is 61 and was too sick to research all of this on his own. It has obviously become more profitable to make people sicker.
I found this forum and called his doctor. I refused to give him this terrible Levaquin and asked for a prescription for something milder. The Doxycylene seems to be working just fine to clear his infection.
A word of warning to all to not drink the Kool Aid that they give you without asking questions. Any health care system that sustains itself by keeping people ill is a bad one. Think about it. If people are healthy, then where is the profit?
This Levaquin sounds like some kind of bad snake oil to me and I am thankful to have read the warnings and then found this helpful forum. I am so sorry for the pain that most of you have suffered and are suffering. We are living with damage from antibiotics and we understand your anger. Take good care of yourselves.

I go by the ID Miserable Knees. I posted last spring on medications.com about my adverse reaction to Levaquin. I was given a 10 day prescription for a respiratory infection. 3 days after I finished taking Levaquin, BOTH KNEES were swollen, painful and I could barely walk. I spent a month throwing myself backwards into chairs due to the inflammation in my knees. My knees were on fire, I was in pain every day. After seeing an orthopedic doctor an MRI showed cartilage damage. A year later, I'm living with permanently altered legs. I was an avid walker, loved to hike, would spend hours walking for recreation. Levaquin changed all of that. I had a career requiring me to be on my feet for 12 or more hours a day. Levaquin changed all of that. I decided, if this could happen to me, it could happen to anyone. Now, there is a documentary about the dangers of fluoroquinolne antibiotics. When I was harmed by Levaquin, I was flabbergasted that something like this could happen to me in the prime of my life. I made this 52 minute film for all of the people like me who trusted the system, (government, doctor, medicine) to guarantee my safety. I was on Advair for less than a year and the Doctor's kept upping my dose. I went off of it for about 4 months last spring because of the weight gain issue. then I got sick with a respiratory infection last summer and Dr. put me on it again -- and I started immediately having jaw pain and terrible headaches. Went to dentist and found out my teeth were disintegrating (called resorption). I go to dentist every 6 months for cleaning and have xrays each year and never had a problem or cavities. Genetically both sides of my family have very strong teeth for their entire life (into their 90's). So I saw many dental specialists and surgeons and it was baffling to them. I'm 44 years old and now my teeth and jaw are a total mess. I've had my front teeth pulled and multiple bone grafts. The reconstruction process (if it works) will take more than a year and over $25,000 (not covered by insurance). And my Doctors still don't know if my other teeth now showing problems will also eventually fail as well.

And I didn't associate the Advair with the problem until I started to take Advair again (2 months after last jaw surgery) and almost immediately my mouth start gushing blood from where the bone grafts were healing. I stopped Advair again -- waited 2 weeks and took it again (just to make sure) and again severe bleeding occurred. I wrote the scientists that were testifying before the FDA's Advair Black Box hearing that this drug should be illegal. At 44 years old I am looking at the prospect of being disfigured for life, no less and issue is the enormous cost that it presents -- and who is going to hire someone with missing front teeth (it has destroyed my career as well).

Before I took Advair I never had joint pain, GI issues, much less teeth/jaw issues and now this is my reality everyday. I feel like I aged 20 years by taking Advair for 1 year. I also know that this damage is permanent and likely to continue to get worse despite having stopped the drug. I think GSK knows how dangerous this really is. I also think it stays in your body a lot longer than they say it does. We know it kills people and they admit it does. STAY AWAY FROM IT!

All Steroids are equally terrible -- stay away from Prednisone, Pulmicort, Nasonex -- they are all killers.

This stuff is DISGUSTING. I hate the taste in my mouth and it seems like if i cough or breath in threw my mouth the taste intensifies. I'm only on day 2!!! I was wondering if the insomnia was from the pills and now I know it is. It's 3am and i don't even feel tired. Last night I took some Nytol to help ease my headache and body aches. Woke up in a major sweat, changed clothes, went back to bed an hour later and continued to sweat. Had crazy dreams about dating Tom Cruise and Nico, the winner of So you think you can dance Canada and spent the evening looking at pics of him on facebook and joining multiple groups for him, like a crazy stalker, lol. And to think, this is only day 2!!! I'm going to lose it. Had diarrhea also today. Oh, and last night had a major meltdown and cried into the bathroom towels when I felt like my boyfriend wasn't being sympathetic to my illness (respiratory infection) even though he has a cracked rib and is in major pain himself. Crying lasted for about 20 mins. I think I'm going to take more Nytol just to try and get to sleep, meeting family members for brunch that i haven't seen for about 20 years, this is going to be interesting... good luck to the rest of you! Oh and I'm super hungry all the time, but hate most of what I eat probably because of this damn taste in my mouth.

I'm on Biaxin for a respiratory infection as well, the worst side effect by far is the severe insomnia, and crazy dreams I get when I finally DO fall asleep - and the sleep I get isn't restful at all. I also have turned into a "bed tosser" - I toss and turn all night because I can't sleep comfortably in one position all night (I usually fall asleep and wake up in the same position, and maybe turn once a night.) Its like all of a sudden I get sore being in any one position for more than an hour. Drives me nuts.

I had impetigo on my ankle that came about from an insect bite. I had been putting mupirocin on the sore, but it hadn't cleared up in two weeks, so the doctor switched me to bactrim. well, within 10 hours of my first dose, I had a low grade fever and incredible aches in my head. I called the office and the nurse told me to stay on the bactrim since I probably was just coming down with a viral infection or something. I stuck with it, but every day, my temperature rose 1 degree, and the pain was something fierce. Finally on the 5th day, my temperature was up to 103, yet I had NO respiratory infection. I just stopped taking the bactrim and within 24 hours the fever is gone, but I'm still sore. My ankle still hasn't cleared up either! Worst experience of my life.

I'm an adult female with severe sinus polyps, adult onset asthma and allergies. Initially Singular seemed to be helping my nasal polyps, when nothing else helped in any way. I made several attempts to use Singular, and proved repeatedly that this medication did, in fact, cause me severe side effects - even when I used a childs dosage. While using an adult rx for Singular, I immediately began experiencing horrific nightmares (which I have never had in my entire life). I also had extreme knife like pains in both ears, which made me feel like I had a severe ear infection, chest pains where it felt like a cinder block was lying on my chest, and migraine like headaches (which I've never had). I stopped the medication after about a week and the nightmares went completely away, but it took me a couple weeks to recover completely because I developed what felt like a respiratory infection and ear infection as soon as I stopped using it. Because Singular seemed to slightly reduce my nasal polyps on my first attempt, my allergist suggested I try using it again - almost a year later. When I first began, I completely forgot about the negative side effect and why I stopped using it in the first place, and just gave it another try. I again experienced the same horrific nightmares, ear pains, but this time got a strange rash/cluster of blisters under both eyelids which my eye doctor confirmed was an allergic reaction to something I was using. Singular was the only medication I had changed. My allergist thought I should give it longer to see if the symptoms went away (because they probably weren't caused by this medication - and were due to something else ???). Fearing going to sleep, I decided to try taking the medication in the morning instead of night, and had my physician reduce my rx to a childs dosage (5mg). The nightmares lessened, and the blisters under my eyelids went down, so I continued using Singular for about a years time. What I didn't realize, was that over this time I was becoming depressed, fatigued, and became easily agitated and short-tempered, which was very different since I was normally a very happy, energetic mom. My nasal breathing seemed to be slightly improved, so I just kept taking the medication - not realizing that it was causing all of the other problems I was experiencing. I became so fatigued and depressed feeling, that all I wanted to do after I got my kids off to school was to sleep until it was time to pick them up in the afternoon. I was also experiencing stomach pains for unknown reasons. I was certainly not myself. I didn't realize that while I was using Singular I had lost complete interest in everything that I normally loved in my life. And please note I'm 45 years old, and I was using a childs dosage. ( I can only imagine what this medication does to a child. )Fortunately for me, I accidentally forgot to refill my prescription for a few days and noticed that my depression started to improve. I decided not to refill my rx and stay off it to see if I continued to improve - and I have. Unfortunately, even though my depression has all but gone away, I'm experiencing symptoms which must be from withdrawal of the medication - and they are just as scary as the side effects were. Now that I'm not taking Singulair any more (and I've made no other medication changes), I have extreme fatigue beyond belief, and ache everywhere. My muscles are in such pain that I'm having difficulty doing things I would normally do. I have extreme weakness in both arms and legs, and my back aches almost constantly. And strangly enough, my asthma and allergies have slightly improved since stopping Singular - I thought for sure my allergies/asthma would worsen when I stopped completely - but they did not. All I can say is - please trust what your body is telling you - even if your physician tells you otherwise, and do not use this medication or any other if you experience adverse side effects to it. I would never give this medication to a child that wasn't old enough to tell me what he/she was experiencing, and would document the childs temperament, ailments if any, and what changed once the medication was started - and discontinue it immediately if even one adverse side effects occurred. One last note - I am still experiencing vision problems, which I feel are due to using this medication. Hopefully, no other permanent damage to my body will result from the Singular that I've already used - and I hope you Singular users will recover completely too from its dangerous side effects. My almost 7 year old son was prescribed Singulair 3 years ago for severe asthma and allergies. It worked great--for a while. No hospitalizations, incidences of bi-lateral mucous plugs and pneumonia decreased, etc. I thought it was a miracle drug for him. This past summer/fall however, the nightmares, sleepless nights, multiple sinus infections, moodiness and mild anxiety, extreme hunger (he can now eat my 6'7" 260 lb. husband under the table and my son only weighs 52 lbs.), thirst, leg pains, reflux and very frequent complaints of stomach aches and nausea, etc. began. He was even admitted to our local Children's hospital in November for a severe upper respiratory infection that affected his asthma and blood oxygen levels and for the first time ever, did not respond to therapy. He was on oxygen for 3 days. Not realizing all this was likely due to Singulair, I took him to his ped. pulmonologist, pediatrician, ped. allergist, a ped. gasteroenterologist, and an ENT. None of our doctors suspected the Singulair--and I still have confidence that they are all good doctors. In December, he had surgery to cauterize the inferior turbinates in his nose and remove his adenoids to try to alleviate the sinus infections. At the same time, we had an upper G.I. series done to see if we could find what was causing all the stomach aches and reflux. The GI doctor found nothing. I am just sick to think that Singulair did all this to him, that we put him through surgery to try and "fix" the symptoms, and doctors and parents didn't know enough about the side effects of this drug to suspect it as a possible culprit!! I called our pulmonologist and pediatrician this morning to report my suspicions and took him off it. I sure hope his symptoms will improve.

Hi all! I just began taking YAZ two weeks ago and things were fine up until two days ago. I started experiencing itching on several parts of my boy an last night, realized I had hives on my waist at my back, near my underarms and have serious itching all over the rest of my body including the palms of my hands. Please, please, please if anyone reads this an has had similar side effects, please let me know. Furthermore, I did not take the pill last night as I knew this could be the only thing causing these issues. Does anyone know the reprecution of stopping the pill mid month? Please let me know and thanks for your help!

I started taking Levaquin in December for a respiratory infection (500mg for 10 days). The only side effects I noticed while taking it was a terrible headache, insomnia and anxiety. I experienced that after the first dose. The next day I called my Dr. to tell him and he said he would prescribe Ativan and I should continue with my prescription. I wish I had listened to my common sense, but I listened to the doctor. I finished the prescription and felt somewhat better from the infection but after 10 days of being off the Levaquin, I started to get a burning pain in my left arm. At first I thought it was a blood clot or something. Two days later, the pain had spread to both arms. The pain was so intense I thought I was going to pass out. I had severe joint and muscle pain. I suspected it was the Levaquin when I found this and other websites where people have been describing their experiences. I made copies of a lot of information to take to the doctor. When I went the doctor I described my pain and tried to show him the information, but he didn't believe me. He said it was not caused by the Levaquin. Since then, the pain has spread to my knees. I have decided to find a new doctor since I refuse to waste my time on a doctor who doesn't even believe me. I called the FDA to file a med watch and they said they were going to send me paperwork..guess what..that was last week and I still haven't gotten paperwork. I believe that everyone is trying to keep this undercover! I am going to go to their website and download my own forms and file.
Two weeks ago I started taking a regimen of vitamins: Daily 3000 mg vitamin C, one B Complex, Milk Thistle, 1000 mg Calcium, 500 mg Magnesium, Potassium, and a Probiotic supplement. I don't know if these have helped me, but I do want to say that I feel better than I felt two weeks ago. I still have a lot of pain, but it's not as severe as it was. I'm hoping that it goes away soon. I am spreading the word among family and friends to NEVER take anything in the quinolinone family of antibiotics. I really don't believe that these side effects are as rare as they say. I just believe many people don't report because most don't connect the dots that their symptoms were caused by the antibiotic. My symptoms didn't start until almost two weeks after I completed the antibiotics. I was just lucky enough to have figured it out. The other symptoms I am having are muscle twitching, trouble focusing, insomnia, and cold hands/feet. I also just once had a ringing in my left ear that made me feel like I lost some of my hearing after it finished. I hope that's not the case. I will continue to pray for all of you.

I have had an extremely stubborn sinus/respiratory infection for around 12 weeks or so. Weeks ago I finished a round of antibiotics (Doxycycline (sp?)) without much improvement. Went to ENT and he prescribed Levaquin 500mg once daily for 21 days. I have been on this med for about 14 or 15 days. Sinuses are some better but I don't think it is all gone. Interestingly though, about 3 or 4 days ago ALL of my joints began hurting...all of a sudden. I have had a really sore shoulder for about a week, maybe more, that really isn't getting better. How bizarre that this is the site I found. It must be the meds. It is Friday 11/30, 5:15, of course so I can't call them now. I have an appointment on Tuesday and I will assertively and aggressively inquire about this. This is pretty scary. If I learn something new I will gladly post it here--but I truly expect to be told it is not the Levaquin...

I was prescribed levaquin for for a respiratory infection. Instead of getting better I got worse. I was weak, began to have joint pain as well as the infection problems. I called my doctor after doing research on the internet. He told me to stop levaquin and to take advil. This didn't help. When I went back to him he tested me for lupus, ms, and RA. He eventually sent me to an arthritis specialist that I am still seeing 5 months later. Although she had never heard of these side effects until I explained them she has supported my concern that I have been suffering from an adverse reaction to the medication. I still suffer from joint pain and swelling as well as an acute burning pain in my thigh. The only treatment that I am receiving is steriod shots in my joints which do offer some relief. As I sit here tonight my leg is extremely painful. Will it ever go away or are we all doomed to suffer these ill effects the rest of our lives. I hurt... if anyone knows of a class action lawsuit please share the information.

infection. The site in which it was given, (hip area), has quite a large indentation from it. My question to anyone who can
answer is, has anyone noticed an indentation anywhere
else on thier body. (Not counting where the injection was given)???? I have noticed an area on the opposite side of
my body(leg area) an indentation. Getting quite nervous
about all of this. I also am noticing shortness of breath.

I'm really glad to hear that someone else got a respiratory infection and it was actually a side effect!!! I got so sick a week after I put the Ring in, thought I had strep and my fever was through the roof. My fiance was convinced that the Ring had something to do with it and tried to persuade me to take it out, but I did not believe they were connected and wanted to tough it out. I got over it in about a week, but now it has happened again a week after my last Ring went in and I started to think they might be related. I am just wondering, is that all hormonal BC or just the Nuva Ring?

took levaquin for respiratory infection 10 days before a marathon. Calves so tight I stopped drug after 6 days and missed running the marathon - cannot run 2 miles without stopping 11 days after stopping drug. How long does it take for effects to go away?

i started levaquin for a respiratory infection this past monday, feb 19,2007. by wed. afternoon , i experienced extreme numbness in my left arm with tingling and loss of sensation. i have never been on levaquin before and i will never go on it again. i am still experiencing pain in my arm and i stopped taking the medication yesterday after reading about the possible side effects. because today is sunday, i will contact my doctor tomorrow and i hope there is no irreparable damage.

I was just recently in the hospital for treatment of cellulitis and my doctor ordered Levaquin via IV. I had taken it orally before about a year ago for a respiratory infection. 2-3 minutes into the IV being turned on I felt the worst burning sensation and pressure in my lungs like I suddenly had horrible pneumonia. Everytime I tried to breathe I had to cough like my lungs were full of fluid or something! They ran tons of tests and everything came back normal. They had to give me a shot of Benadryl and it eventually calmed down. Anyone else experience this?

About 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor for a respiratory infection. He gave me 5 day pack of 750 mg. of Levaquin. Took the first one on Monday night. Started having vivid dreams, slight hallucinations, insomnia, tremors, and dry mouth. I continued the meds for 3 days not knowing that it was causing these strange side-effects. By Thursday morning I hadn't slept since Monday night. I started reading the side effects and immediately stopped taking the Levaquin. Never experienced any joint pain. By the weekend, I had a new symptom -- an inflamed rectum. I now have an appt. with a GI dr to make sure that there's nothing seriously wrong with me. I am finally returning to a somewhat normal sleep pattern. I will never take this drug again. Not sure how they can continue to prescribe this with so many side effects.
