It's nice to know that I'm not alone..
I got Mirena in November 08, and since then I've developed a plethora of unpleasant side-effects. Initially, I couldn't put them all together. As I'd had a fainting spell and some restless legs a few months prior to getting Mirena, I've been concerned that all of my symptoms were stemming from a nutritional deficiency like folate or b12 anemia. Nothing seemed to quite fit exactly right though, and I take vitamins regularly, so I was perplexed until last night. After googling "tingly feet" and "heartbeat" I stumbled onto one of these forums.
I have felt like a crazy person all of this year, and I am now quite certain that it's from Mirena. Feeling foolish that I didn't see this sooner.. but I guess I we perceive what we want to, and I was happy to have easy birth control.
I've NEVER had heart palpitations, this kind of foggy-headedness, anxiety like this, unexplainable nausea, tingling in my feet, or depression before. My dizziness and fatigue alone had me fearing for my health, and my extreme mood swings had me fearing for my life.
I'm getting this removed as soon as possible.
Clearly I could've done my pre-Mirena research better, but the pamphlet and pep-talk I was given did not mention everything that I've been going through. I'm a little pissed, to be honest.. but mainly relieved.
I think I'm going back to the Nuvaring.. I'd rather bleed than be a dysfunctional, ill, zombie-person.

Was prescribed Levaquin in November 2008 for suspected pneumonia, then 5 other times until last week. I've had really bad knee, thigh and arm and shoulder pain for the last 2 months. My legs get so weak and painful that getting out of a chair makes me want to cry, i've got to the stage that i need to hold on to something just to get on to my feet. My arms are rather weak, i can't even lift a small 10lb box without pains shooting down my arm. I've since stopped my last prescription of Levaquin 750mg daily for 7 days, the pain seems to have eased a little but not enough.
My pulmonologist keeps prescribing Levaquin each time i catch a cold or have shortness of breath. I was also taking 60mg of Prednisone from November 2008 until March for newly diagnosed Lung Disease. I've complained to him more than once about pain and weakness in my legs etc. He keeps telling me my muscles are deconditioned.
I've now started physical therapy and i'm doing aqua therapy, so we'll see if this works or not. Maybe it will also help my restless legs, which seems to have intensified this past few weeks.

I really don't know what to do, I hurt so bad every single day I could cry. I was given Levaquin in March 2008 when I had pneumonia. I took it for 10 days and I hurt so bad still was very sick so I was put on it for another 10 days, so I took the Levaquin for a total of 20 days. I thought all this sickness was from the pneumonia. I had trouble getting out of bed, I could not even bend my knees, my feet, knees, elbows, and fingers were swelled up and I was getting all kinds of cracking in all my joints, headaches, stomach pains, all kinds of muscle pains. When I went back to work, I was telling a girl at work how I hurt and she asked me what kind of antibiotic I was taking, I told her and she said they had it on the world news . I said why is it still on the market. I seen 3 doctors about this and they think I'm nuts! They sent me for all kinds of xrays for all different parts of my body, what is that going to show! Its been a year and I still ache, I keep swelling up, joint and muscle pains, cracking, stomach troubles, problems sleeping, its terrible. I take pain medication for my back, I have 2 herniated discs, and I have to take more pain meds for all these other pains, this is not going to work. I even went to see a rheumatologists and he said I don't have arthritis. So Levaquin done a number on me. If anyone can help, or know what to do let me know!

I was on Abilify many years ago for a few days and I got severe akathisia. It is a movement disorder where you become extremely restless and are constantly moving and pacing. It felt like my body was alive and it was this intense internal restlessness and a constant need to move. It was severe restlessness. I couldn't sit down for more than a couple minutes, I couldn't sleep, my body just kept moving. I went off the Abilify and it took weeks for the akathisia to go away completely. I became extremely restless. I was young when I took the Abilify and the akathisia scared me. Abilify causes severe restlessness and severe akathisia. The akathisia from the Abilfiy is the worst, most uncomfortable, horrifying feeling in the world. I was a teenager when I was on it and this movement disorder was scary. severe internal restlessness, akathisia. Extreme restlessness, constant internal need to move, felt like I had the jitters, it was terrifying.

I have restless legs, nightmares and weight gain. Trouble concentrating, numbness and tingling of the hands and feet, falling. I have been evaluated by a neurologist and no one has made the connection of weight gain to singulair.
Also, have high blood pressure that came on suddenly.
I have followed the South Beach diet and continued to gain. I am going off this drug and really appreciate this website.

Like many of you here... i am extremely happy to have found this website. I have been on Yasmin for about 5 years (frightening!!) and not until yesterday did i realize that all of the peculiar things that have been happening to my body must be connected to this pill. Let's start with the weight gain...
I am 5'9" and have always weighed about 128-132 lbs... As soon as i started taking the pill i jumped up to 138lbs and then over the course of 2-3 years peaked at 160 lbs!! I have struggled to lose that weight for years, exercising daily (with a trainer and also running, doing bikram yoga etc) and eating immaculately (under the supervision of one of New York's best nutritionists..) the result?? not much! i have struggled to lose 10 lbs and have remained at this weight (around 150 ) for about a year!! no matter how many crunches i do, laps i run, and vegetables/ salmon i eat my tummy and midsection is flabby, bloated etc. and i can't shake this weight
next up... i am always tired but yet have trouble sleeping... lie awake at night clutching my chest thinking i'm having a heart attack. fluttering heart/ palpitations etc. they always pass but i thought i was mad until i came across this site.
phantom leg pains... i have inexplicable cramps in my lower legs... thought they were blood clots. have been to see about 20 doctors... all over the world... been tested for blood clots w/ ultrasound, been tested for nerve damage, muscle damage, bone density issues... you name it. even went down the whole eastern medicine, acupuncture route... NOTHING!! nobody can diagnose it or even locate any issue.
these pains also wake me in the night.
last, but not least, i develop hyperpigmentation when i expose my face to the sun... basically looks like a have a moustache b/c my skin darkens... i know this is normal for any birth control/ hormone pill but figured i'd throw it in anyway! also noticed hair on my lip/ sideburns which i promptly removed with laser but i'm now thinking might have been from the Yasmin.
i am midway through a packet but as of today i am stopping. praying that the weight will fall off and the weird aches and pains and imaginary heart attacks will stop.
thank you all for your posts and good luck! does anyone have any updates as to their progress since getting off it??? i promise to post an update in a few months to hopefully help anyone with similar issues!!
all the best!

My serious hell started at age 43 and I am 49 now. Diagnosis was hormonal changes. My doctor put me on Zoloft, klonopin, xanax, flexril, pain killers, and prescribed many other meds to control my very frightening panic attacks, depression, fibromyalgia, migraine, arthritis type pains, knee pains, insomnia, restless legs, tingling, numbness, hot flashes, and many other indescribable symptoms.
Nothing helped. I stopped going to work and stayed in bed most of the year and a year later stopped taking all of the prescription meds because of the serious side effects etc. I continued the Zoloft though. Zoloft helped with my panic attacks but all other symptoms are intact and some new symptoms have joined the list.
New development is that about 6 months ago I started feeling very tired, drained, exhausted, thinking became slow; weight won’t come off (put on 40 lbs last couple of years). My depression and other symptoms listed above worsened.
Now in Dec. of 2008 I got my annual physical done and the blood test showed that my thyroid hormone was low (hypothyroidism) so my doctor put me on Levoxyl which drove me even more crazy (manic depressive type symptom, restlessness, blurry vision, and vomiting. Ear infections, sore throat, cough that won’t go away for weeks. But there were moments here and there when I found myself feeling good and happy but the moments didn't last longer than half hour. There was one week when I didn't get any migraines and my appetite reduced but then there were times when I felt very very hungry and ended up eating a lot.
Fed up with my indescribable hell and the doctors I decided to check into some alternative medicines, home remedies, and herbs. A friend who is a nurse and has been going through worse hell recommended that I start taking Thyroidinum 30cc, a homeopathic tincture, and slowly stop the Levoxyl. So I ordered it online. Then I researched on Black kohosh and bought it in liquid form from whole foods. I also bought chamomile liquid form and progesterone cream. I looked for bioidentical hormonal creams but didn't find any so decided that I will try progesterone cream.
OnDec. 26, 2009 I started taking Thyroidinum 30cc 10 drops in 1 ounce of water three times a day and at night before going to bed I started taking black kohosh only 10 drops in water. Recommended dose of black kohosh is 30 drops in water three times a day (total 90 drops a day). I was little afraid to take that much because I read some reports which said that it can cause liver damage. I tried it couple of times during the day but it made me feel funny so I stopped taking it during the day time.
Now I don’t know what’s making me feel good whether it’s Levoxyl adjusting to my body or Thyroidinum 30cc or black kohosh. Believe it or not I have never slept like this in my whole life before as I have in the past one week. I go to bed at 10 PM and wake up at 9 AM. I have no idea what happens in between. I am happy. Energy is great. I go out to do things I had lost interest in in the past 6 years. No migraines. No joint pains. No body pains. It almost feels like I am woken up from a very long sleep. I don't know what’s making me feel good. It’s too early to tell but I will keep you all posted if anything changes. Please give me feedback regarding my condition and the meds I am on. I will also be posting this message for the greatest and the best homeopathic doctor Pankaj Varma /Max Varma and see if I can get some help in that forum. I started Thyroidinum without consulting a homeopathic doctor and I want to quit Levoxyl and Zoloft in the next week or two. I am afraid to do so but I am really fed up with the doctors heavily medicating me for the past 6 years and all I have felt is minute help in couple of symptoms and gotten twenty additional side effects from the prescriptions. I have not had a normal life since I turned 43 and I will be turning 49 in Feb this year.

ive been on levothyroxine for about 6 years...... for an underactive thyroid gland and i am stunned reading all these side effects as for about 4 years ive suffered from severe joint paint, fatigue ,very low moods , foggy brain, mood swings hair loss, all i want to do is sleep and even then im still tired.
I am 35 and feel about 80 as my back hips legs calfs and feet all hurt so bad.
I have been to the doctors so many times and got no where.
ive been told your in pain because your depressed( who would not be depressed ) but i said i am depressed cause im in such pain.
i remember asking once if it was due to the thyroid or the drug and the doctor said your levels are fine and the drug gives no side effects.
I feel like stopping it right now to be honest.
I only got it after my third pregnancy and i remember reading once it can correct itself as it could be caused by pregnancy ????? any ideas.
ive copied and pasted a lot of these comments and i will be making a trip to doctors to be fobbed off again im sure ....but its worth a try

He said no, I have been on it for 2months...and just upped script to .50mcg....and cramps are worse....I am going off the meds. I am in excellent health @ 64 and only went to this Doctor because of back pain.....was tested for a myriad of things...I had none of the symptoms for hypothyroidism.....what natural remedies are there for this . I have had numerous side effects with tramadol (nausea, heart skipping beats, restless legs at night) but I was too desperate and needed something so I just started taking 2 half pills a day (total of 50 mg). Well, now I've quit after about 2 years because I have sudden onset swelling and tendinitis in both of my achilles tendons. There was absolutely no trauma involved and tramadol was my only medication. After doing research online, I found that this is a rare side effect to some other medications but it hasn't been mentioned for tramadol. I truly believe this is a side effect that just hasn't been reported yet. Also, it can lead to both tendons rupturing. I just hope I stopped the medication in time so that it doesn't lead to that. It's only been a few days and I have a lot of pain and difficulty with stairs. I think this will take a while to get over -- like all orthopedic related problems.

I take Simply Sleep once in a while just to help me fall asleep. I'm a 120-pound woman and one pill is usually enough. Last night, my mind was racing and I decided to take both pills. BIG MISTAKE! I had very weird sensations in my legs that still continue (it's now 11 AM, 12 hours after the dose). I guess it could be a form of Restless Legs Syndrome, but I've never had that before. These sensations (tingling, numbness, a desperate need to move) were enough to wake me up in the middle of the night and keep me awake, even though the rest of my body was tired. I'm dragging today -- a combination of no sleep and the residual effects of the sellping pills. My legs are still not right. They feel weak from the hip down when I'm sitting.

Since being on Lexapro, I have no feelings of anxiety. In fact, I have no feelings at all. I am numb to everything it seems and I have little to no emotion - ever. In addition to being a zombie, I am hungry all of the time and I have no energy to do anything, but rest on the couch. I have been taking Lexapro for about 3-4 years and have gained about 30 pounds. Now that is depressing. I am slowly weaning myself off the drug now. I took 1 pill every other day for a month and now I am taking 1/2 every other day until my prescription is gone. I'm experiencing some additional side effects now. I am having mini panic attacks where my heart will race for about 5-10 minutes, restless legs where I need to keep moving them when I am trying to rest, hot flashes where I will sweat profusely, I'm very irritated at the smallest of occurrences and the most strange side effect that I have not heard of previously is breast soreness - very painful. If anyone else is experiencing the same, please write about it, I would really like to know if this is common, how long it will last and if there is something else (natural) that I can take to help with weaning off Lexapro. Please help!!

Have been on Seroquel 300mg for about a month now for management of bipolar. Was combined with Depakote, but the doc discontinued the Depakote. With Seroquel *only*.... Works great for getting to sleep, but. significant weight gain (like 12lbs in 30 days), dry/cotton mouth almost like dehydration, fatigue from simple tasks, mentally foggy during the daytime, loss of emotion, poor motor skills/reaction time, and restless legs. The foggy feeling I attribute to a long half-life with a residual effect carry over to the next day. Before this med, I was manic, but now into a mild emotionless depression which is a dreadful feeling. Saw my doctor today, and he said
to cut the dose to 150mg and said it is a wimpy dose. In my opinion, this
is a horrible maintenance drug for bipolar.

I have had 1 remicade infusion so far for ulcerative colitis. The next day a bunch of spots appeared on my lower legs. There were 30-40 of them, small, roundish, purple/dark red. They looked like blood spots under the skin.
It wasn't a rash and they didn't itch or hurt. My doc had no explanation, and I haven't heard of anyone else having this reaction. They checked my blood for a clotting problem and didn't find anything. The spots faded away over a week or so. My next infusion is in 2 days, so we'll see if they reappear.
I have also been experiencing a weird kind of insomnia where I am so physically antsy I CANNOT keep lying still, I have to shake my body or kick my legs or something. I read up on restless legs syndrome and the symptoms sure sound like what I am experiencing. I don't know if it's connected to the Remicade - I read that iron deficiency can also cause it and I am anemic due to the UC. But since Remicade can disturb the central nervous syndrome, it seems possible. Anyone else experience RLS with Remicade?

Hi, all. I'm 30 and have been taking Yasmin since Oct. 2006. Yesterday, I finally went to my OB/GYN and asked to take me off it. I can't believe it's taken me so long to realize it was the cause of my many health problems.
Like others have said, I've had many side effects but never connected any of them to Yasmin - until a friend was thinking about using it and told me she'd read it had bad side effects such as mood and GI problems. Once she said this, everything clicked.
Immediately after starting Yasmin, I started gaining weight and had terrible depression. Crying ALL the time. I thought both were because I had started a new job that was very stressful, and I've had struggled with depression my whole life. But this was severe enough that I've had thoughts of suicide and my actions really worried my husband. I asked my doctor to increase my Prozac dosage.
In June 2007, I started having migraines. The first one was so bad that my husband took me to the ER and had me get a CAT scan. It was clear, but the migraines have continued about once a month since then. I've been prescribed Maxalt for when they occur.
Also in 2007, I started having GI problems, especially bloating, cramps, heartburn, gas, and quick-onset diarrhea. The diarrhea got so bad, I'd have to leave parties, work, etc. One day, I didn't make it to the bathroom in time (thankfully, I was at home), was in tears, and my hubby said to see a GI doctor. I got the full workup, including a colonoscopy, which was clear.
In 2008, I started having Restless Legs Syndrome and extreme fatigue. It'd get tingles/pain in my calves when watching TV, in movies, on airplanes, and when asleep. I would sleep 12 hours and still be exhausted. I'd go to bed at 7 or 8 p.m. Finally, I had a sleep study in March 2008 and was diagnosed with RLS and was prescribed Klonopin.
This spring, I've had terrible sinus problems and headaches. I've had allergies before, but never this bad. My Allegra isn't working anymore. I have incredible post-nasal drip and sneezing. Go through Kleenex like crazy. My doctor prescribed Nasonex.
And finally, since Oct. 2006, I've gained about 60 pounds while on Yasmin. I chalked it up to stress from a new job and planning a wedding. Yes, I gained weight WHILE I was engaged. In the time between buying my wedding dress and my wedding, I gained so much weight that my dress had to be let out. I thought it was because of stress, not exercising and a poor diet - but now I realize it shouldn't have caused me to gain THAT much weight. I've continued to gain weight since I've been married.
Now that I put this all together, I realize I am on THREE NEW MEDICATIONS, increased my Prozac, had a colonoscopy, a sleep study, and a CAT scan, and gained 60 pounds ALL since I started Yasmin.
And aside from the medical problems and prescriptions, my lifestyle has changed and I use many over-the-counter drugs. Of course, I'm overweight. I use antacids about 5X a week for heartburn, simethicone about 3X a week for gas, Advil about 2X a week for headaches, sleep all the time, have unusually strong depression, still have diarrhea, and have terrible sinus/runny nose constantly.
I feel so stupid that I never connected the dots. And I realize as I'm typing this that I sound like a hypochondriac because of all my drugs and doctor visits! Most of all, I'm outraged, and truthfully, very sad, that I got married at a very heavy weight because of Yasmin.
I'll post again in a couple of weeks to let you know how I'm feeling off Yasmin. I pray it's much better. Thanks for this forum to share our experiences.
-Katie

hated it. It was prescribed for insomnia and anxiety. Worked at first for the insomnia at 25 mg, then had to go up to 50 mg and barely worked then. My anxiety was worse, woke up with panic attacks. Vivid horrid nightmares. Spiraled into a severe, deep suicidal depression on it. Had hand tremors and restless legs. Currently weaning off. Never again!

I am a 49 year old women, who has been taking Lipitor 10mg for about 2 years at first I was told by my Pharmacist to take before going to bed because this is when the cholesterol is released in our body's. I also took synthroid for a thyroid condition,& Blood pressure medicine, but always took these in the morning, so at first I would forget to take the Lipitor on a regular bases. I am being helped with my prescriptions by a program that sends me my medications directly from the Pharmaceutical companies at no charge to me. I was receiving 3months worth at a time and the were piling up so I thought I really should take these regularly since heart disease runs in our family. In these past 2 years I have been experiencing progressive muscle weakness ,restless legs and feet at night so much that I can't sleep I toss a urn so much I most of the time cannot sleep in the same bed as my husband. in this last 8 months things have gotten so bad I know something is not right I have been going to Dr. having x-ray MRI, P.T, I have told my Doctor my pain is gotten to the point that I needed something strong for pain because I have to work to survive and it was getting to the point the every movement I made was very Painful almost like a deep burning pain. I am now getting spasms in almost every major muscle in my body.At night I gett cramps in my legs and feet that seem to move all over my leg muscle with the painful "cramps " I have ever experienced and they are brought on by just the muscle strength it takes to turn in your bed, they always last for 20min. or more. I work as a nursing assistant for an 84 year old women who has Parkinson's Disease I take her to all of her P.T appointment and exercises along side of her she is 84 and I can only lift 10lbs more than her we joke about it to the effect that she is doing great, but in reality I am the one who isn"t doing so well. The past 4months I have been looking for answers myself because I am in pain 24/7and I know that just because I'm turning 50 next month doesn't mean I should have less strength the the 84 year old I care for daily, These past 2 weeks I have started experiencing extreme nausea and stomach and back muscles going into spasms. drinking fluids are what always are coming back up and since I sweat a lot when showering my patients, I have been starting to see signs of dehydration and being very thirsty if I don't sip it it has been coming right back up my appetite is also decreasing because of the nausea. I am so thankful I found this website. Because I do not need any more proof to know that I have a least 90% of the symptoms other have explained I am quiting Lipitor immediately. Good Luck to everyone taking this medication.

Please read his entire post in its entirety.
I spent 15 years on Klonopin. Initially I was placed on this medications for the side effects of Prozac, but it worked so well (initially) at curbing my panic attacks that I remained on it. It was a godsend for many years. My maximum dose was 1 mg twice daily (toward the end).
Several times I was able to discontinue this medication on my own with no problems, but in the late 90's I suddenly had trouble discontinuing this medication even with the help of a doctor, and I assumed this was because I had developed a 'dependence'.
My depression, anxiety, and panic attacks began to worsen during this time period, and I began to develop other symptoms - insomnia, pain in my spine and joints, IBS, a droopy left eyelid, restless legs, teeth-grinding - to name a few. I began to see more and more doctors as my list of symptoms grew, but doctors assumed that I was seeking more Klonopin and that there was nothing wrong with me.
There's a lot more to my story, but basically I almost died. Klonopin was merely a bandaid for what was really going on with me. I no longer even believe in "benzo dependence". Here's what was causing my anxiety:
Chronic Lyme, babesia, and several viral infections causing brain inflammation (join Lymenet!)
Also, severe electromagnetic hypersensitivities/microwave sickness.
If you've been placed on Klonopin, there is a good chance you are merely a victim of chronic Lyme and the wireless boom. Google "Elves Against ELF (& RF).
Electrical Sensitivity & Hypersensitivity:
http://www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/related-conditions/electrical-sensitivity-&-hypersensitivity/
Bioinitiative Report:

Klonopin only serves to sedate you to the fact that you have a raging infection in your nervous system, fueled by the wireless boom.

restless legs at night, severe leg swelling especially in the evenings, itchy rash on legs, possible eczema ( I have never ever experienced until Lantus), insomnia...I can't string more than 3 hours of sleep together at one time, wake up with cold sweats and confusion, really bizarre dreams, weight gain (rapid), severe cough, terrible back pain....sometimes standing for more than 10 minutes kills me.....Is it just me or does Lantus smell horrible?

I'm so glad that I found this site and know that I'm not going through this alone. I started the NuvaRing after not being on birth control for 2 years. Previously I've been on the pill and the patch. I'd heard great things about the ring and thought I'd give it a try. The first three months I loved it. Around month four, I started having pain during sex. It felt like I wasn't getting lubricated enough. Then on top of the pain during sex, I would have a burning sensation after sex when I went to the bathroom. I've also been experiencing a lot of hunger and weight gain around my stomach, which hasn't ever been an issue before. The past month I've had little to no sex drive, and have to wait at least a day after sex before I can attempt to do it again. I'm only 27 and know this isn't normal. Last week I had my period for only 2 days. I thought there was something psychologically wrong with me, especially having no sex drive when I'm with someone that I'm incredibly attracted to. After reading everyone else's similar experiences, I'm taking this ring today and voicing my concern to my doctor first thing tomorrow. Best of luck to everyone in getting back to how we were before the ring.

I have been on Singulair now for about 14 years. I am 58 yr old white female with Asthma. Severe enough to go to the ER every 2 weeks and get the breathing treatments, IV steroids, etc. Breathlessness is something I do not ever want to experience again.
I went to an allergist and had only a reaction to dust mites, however, my Asthma attacks were triggered by all odors, scents, pollutions from cars, trucks, and construction, (tar smelling products.) I wasn't able to go grocery shopping and go down the detergent aisle. I wasn't able to go to the Mall for fear someone would have on perfume or cologne. Funeral homes were out of the question because of the above mentioned and the flowers. I was basically home bound. Now my allergist had me on another medication, but it required blood tests every month to check the liver enzymes. So he switched me to Singulair. About a month into the drug, I noticed I no longer needed my rescue inhaler, not even at night, or my steroid-laced inhaler for prevention. I thought this drug was a life restoring miracle. Now having read all these comments, and I have almost all the same side effects,: weight gain, restlessness, restless legs, insomnia, ear infections, tinnitus. Gee, I thought these were all because of my age, and now I see it is my Singulair. I don't know if I am brave enough to try to wean off this drug, because when you can't breath, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. so .........WHAT DO I DO?

I forgot too add a few side effects:
-- By yellowsparkly | Reply | Private Message mememory issues (obviously), terrible night sweats, nausea (though not vomiting) and a constant kind of angry feeling to the point of not being able to even look at my fiancee (which is so unfair, because he's so supportive) and lack of patience with my baby which is scaring me.
Also restless legs and feeling tired all the time with out being able to sleep,
constantly hungry but I get bored of the flavours very quickly.
