Update..1 week off the simvastatin now. Still not myself, but I am noticing that I have a little more energy. I can go outside again and visit with family and friends. Some days are better than others. I still have terrible pain in my upper right abdomen, and my ankles still really hurt when I walk, right shoulder is still very stiff and sore to move. I hope what ever damage this poison did to my body over the 11 months will get better. I am only 36, and this pill made me feel like all I wanted to do was die! I AM SO MAD at my Dr. Fresh out of med school. I haven't even called for my next appt. yet, I'm worried that I wont be very nice to her at all. How can they give this to people. She never said anything to me about any of these possible side effects. I did a search on FDA and Simvastatin, I can not believe they would allow Doctor's to give this poison, I guess it is all about the money for them, while we the consumers suffer.

WOW! I have been feeling so bad lately, I decided to put my medications in google and do some research. I have been reading these peoples post like it was something that I wrote.I am only 36, but I feel 86. I thought I was loosing my mind. I have been on 40mg/day for 11 months now. In that 11 months, I have had to stop working, I can barely walk around because the pain in my ankles and knee. My right shoulder hurts all the time. I had been working 50+ hours a week for over 7 years. I pretty much have withdrawn myself from most friends and family, I just feel so bad all the time, I feel more like a burden than anything. The latest thing I have had going on is, this terrible pain in my upper right abdomen. Ive had blood work, Ultrasound, MRI all came back ok, with the exception of a small spot on my liver.(normal they say) I didn't refill the last Rx for about 2 weeks($$ issues) I actually was able to get outside and mow the yard, take a walk with my daughter, then 4 days ago I get it refilled and start taking it again. Now im back in the house, it hurts to walk again, I feel like im here but not here most of the time. I have asked my doctor about this and told her several times that I am not feeling right. She just tries to give me antidepressants! Yea just what I want more pills (NOT). I have also had terrible boughts with constipation and diarrhea. It was nice to see that I'm not loosing my mind here. My mother also takes this, I sent her a link to this site and we are both stopping this medication. Doctor says my chol. should be under 100 mine is 115, and she thinks she is gonna up my dose to 80mg/day. NOT! This is no way to live.

Thank you for this site...although it is too late being I already poisoned myself with my 1st dosage - I know better now to STOP TAKING THIS DRUG IMMEDIATELY.
31 y/o male - non smoker - In good overall health.

What happened...(brief history of what got me to the point of being prescribed this horrid drug)
I caught a cold a few days after drinking quite heavily at a wedding (Aprox 1 month ago). It was severe enough for me to take a trip to this new doctor that is in my network and nearby (how I wish I could use my old family doctor that is out of network).
Symptoms then were congestion in my head and upper chest, cold sweats, runny nose. The doctor told me to take some over the counter stuff and try to fight it off w/ Mucinex, and Zyrtec - and lots of liquids. If that didn't work, he asked me to return.
It took about 5 days, and I seemed to kick the cold.
Approximately 2 weeks went by where I was feeling fine, then it seemed as if I was coming down with something again. (Last Thursday was when I started feeling ill)
I think what brought it on this time was breathing in excess dust at work opening some skids of paper in our warehouse.
Anyhow, this time around I had a pretty serious cough, felt feverish, and fatigued.
Sunday morning I woke up and took two Mucinex to break up the cough (which work great by the way)...and I hacked up something awful enough to call my doctors emergency line and have him paged. I was ready to go to the ER. It wasn't just phlegm or mucas - it was a soild mass of lord knows what containing blood. It look like an organ from a small critter.
Doctor said to keep taking the Mucinex and if I didn't feel better to come see him.
The coughing got worse on Monday, and the mucus I was spitting up wasn't pretty.
I went to see him yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) and he said its time to start you on an antibiotic and diagonsed me with an Upper Respiratory Infection.
He gave me Avelox, and Advair, and I asked for some of the good cough syrup w/ the codeine. He also sent me for a chest X-ray.
I got home around 4pm, made some food, then took some syrup and tried the advair.
I waited to take the Avelox til later on in the evening so I could set up a routine as I work nights and 9pm would be good.
I took the Avelox, around then, along with another dose of the cough syrup.
Around 1 hour later I felt extremely nauseous. I would burp, and feel almost ready to vomit...it was my body rejecting this horrible drug. The nausea came and went, came and went - then I got tired.

I laid down around 11pm and then the REAL trouble started. I must have fell asleep for about 30 mins, then woke up suddenly gasping for air...It felt like my heart was about to stop. I sat up in the bed panicked. I then got a little nervous, but calmed myself down, drank another glass of water and tried to fall back asleep. Sure enough just as I was about to drift off, the same sudden feeling of my breathing or heartbeat was interrupted and I sat up again. I had tingling in my chin area and in my arms. Walking to the bathroom I felt slightly disoriented and dizzy, and my legs and whole body felt weak. I also started getting itchy in my legs and groin area. Now I'm scared to go to sleep so I come to the computer and started researching this Avelox. It's 3:30 am now as I'm writing this. I looked at this site and http://www.fluoroquinolones.org/ before decided to post my experience.
I am still very itchy, slight nauseous, and feel disoriented. I'm scared to lay down to sleep now, but hopefully that will wear off soon - but I feel very nervous, uncontrollably. I almost want to induce vomiting to maybe get out any of the drug that is left in my stomach, but hate vomiting.
I will not take another dosage of this Avelox, no matter what this doctor tells me...and will give him a piece of my mind for prescribing this instead of something like ammoxocillin or just penicillin.

60 YO male: three weeks on .4 Flomax

I went on it because after Parathyroid surgery for kidney stones, I was still having symptoms. Mostly a painful urgency to pee, with only tablespoons coming out. That would last for 3-6 hours. I started out with pyridium (the pill that turns your urine orange). That seemed to help, but I was still having some lower-right abdomen KS pain events with the urgency. The urologist suspects I still have some stones that have yet to come out.

My prostate exam and PSA were good. No signs of cancer. I don't think the size of the prostrate was measured or whether BPH was an issue because of the obvious Parathyroid issue.

I started taking .4 Flomax, got the lightheadedness that evolved into a feeling of being slightly high most of the time. And feeling mildly relaxed.
Flow was improved, maybe a few less pees per day. Still peeing at least twice a night; good stream, good quantity.

Not a runny nose, but a thicker discharge. This week (3 weeks in) the nose is better.

Lower volume and clearer ejaculate. After the last ejaculation, I went right into an urgency and lower right KS pain event that lasted 6 hours. I was uncomfortable, but OK on Tylenol and pyridium. My events frequently happen on Saturday/Sunday. I have tried to figure out what, if anything I might be doing to cause or break this cycle, but there seems to be no correlation. I was hoping to get rid of the painful and disruptive urgency episodes, but so far they are still here every week or so.

Dreams have been a bit weird.

I have a swollen knee and toe, but this could be due to some hiking while on vacation. I saw the posts about painful joints, but can't make a direct connection yet.

Since Flomax three weeks ago, there seems to be a low level feeling in my lower abdomen. Not a pain as much as a presence, a tension. I think it's in the testicles, but you know how that is; accidentally smack one and the pain feels like it's inside the body.

I took Yasmin for 3 years and stopped about 3 weeks ago in hopes of becoming pregnant soon. I am experiencing a rapid resting heart rate (100) and occasional mild chest pains. My blood pressure, however, is normal. I have also had a pain in my lower right abdomen below my hip bone off-and-on for a week. The first day it was sharp and lasted about 20 minutes and I thought it was ovulatory pain (and I guess it still could be). When it lingered, I thought it was my appendix, and now I'm a little confused as to what it is. It is mild and only happens for a few minutes a day. I'm just wondering if these things are all linked to the timing of stopping Yasmin. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms? I'm becoming paranoid about my health.

Has anyone experienced pain in the abdomen on the right side? Seems to have started when I started this birth control...sometimes it's under my last rib, and then there are days it hurts all the way down to my hip.

I just had my first child almost 3 months ago, and I wanted to get on Yaz because I heard that helped with depression and heavy periods, which I experienced before I had my baby. My Dr said that I couldn't go on Yaz because I was breastfeeding, but that Mirena helped with those things and lasted for five years, and explained the other conveniences of it. So I had it put in at the end of November. I took 800 mg of ibuprofen on the advice of the doctor before I went in, and the insertion was hardly painful at all. I experienced some light cramping for about 10 minutes, and then some stronger cramping that night after the pain relievers had worn off. I had light spotting for a week and then my period started, a full blown period, heavy flow and mood swings, not quite as bad cramping as usual, but enough to make me nauseous once or twice. Today is the 10th day of my period. This morning I woke suddenly with a severe pain in my lower right abdomen, that pierced through to my back and radiated down my thigh and leg. I immediately took 5 ibuprofen (more than I took before the insertion), and the pain wore off after approx. 30 minutes, (I wasn't exactly watching the clock, I was busy writhing in pain on the bed and crying). I have also had several mood swings in the last few weeks but I thought it had to do with my fiance and the baby, we have been fighting anyway. So later when I got up I searched the Internet for side effects I found this site and read all of the posts, and now I am frightened that I will develop more side effects. I just hope I don't start imagining things, the mind is very powerful. Let's all wish each other luck with this. I am starting to think maybe I should get this thing removed and just use the pill or condoms. Good luck to us all.

Hi, I've posted before, but I'm back with a few new symptoms....
I have been taking Yasmin since I don't know when. I was one of the first at my OB/GYN office to get on it when it first came out. Egad, what a crappy, painful life Yasmin produces.
I seriously do not think that I have felt "well" since I have been on it. I have constant body aches, nausea, bowel problems, abdominal pain, tremendous pain in the gall bladder area which resulted in surgery that probably wasn't totally needed, leg pain and cramping (feels like a shin-splint...without having worked out), constant emotional outbursts, facial hair growth, absolutely NO sex drive, and migraines that I had never, ever had before...basically I feel like an ogre with a really bad case of the flu.
My newest "problem" is that my periods all of the sudden only last two days and are very light. I know that some people would be happy with that symptom, but this is NOT normal. One box of "Lite" tampons will last me 3 months. I think that this is the LAST STRAW with me and Yasmin. I just started a new pack, but I took the last one I will ever take this morning. I would rather enjoy having sex with my finance(I'm sure he would like that too because I just don't want to do it EVER right now), not bark at people or cry for no reason, have less body pain, and maybe...for once in many years...FEEL GOOD.
I really feel that if I continue on this crap...I'll either never be able to have children (which I do want), or I will end up killing myself or possibly my finance because I cannot control my emotions. For those of you who tout the wonders of Yasmin...I used to think it was great too before I figured out that I didn't feel this way before taking it. Feeling like shit every day of your life changes your outlook. I'll take menstrual cramps and ovarian cysts over all of this any day.

I started Yasmin about 5 weeks ago and for the past month, I have had horrible cramps in my lower right abdomen. I went for so many tests and even had a trip the the ER for the pain. I felt like a hernia or an appendix that was about to burst. After seeing my PCP, a urologist, my OB/GYN, and an ER doctor, I was sent to the hospital for a diagnostic procedure. The doctors still have not found the cause of the pain, but now it has occurred to me that I have had this pain ever since I started taking Yasmin. Try other BCP before taking this one!!!!

Please everyone who suffers from any of these symptoms, I would love an email asap as I feel like I am going crazy.
My dr prescribed buproprion sr 150 mg along with lexapro 20 mg about 3 weeks ago to help combat a major bout of postpartum depression. She had to wean me off of 40 mg of Prozac first from previous depression issues.
Since then, I feel as though I am losing my mind. I cry all of the time, I have pain in the middle of my right abdomen area that feels like a burning/indigestion feeling, I have no appetite at all, totally anxiety, terrible fatigue with even worse insomnia. When I do finally get to sleep, I experience HORRIBLE nightmares that last for hours. In addition, I have had multiple headaches and a few vomiting episodes.
The depression was so horrible that I feared the way I was feeling. Yet the buproprion has given me all of these new feelings and I am really affraid I will never feel normal again.
Should I give these new meds more time to take effect? Has anyone else used them for postpartum depression and felt these symptoms? Please email me at ****** I feel very alone in the ways I am feeling and would love to chat with someone who has had the similiar experiences.
Thanks
Trisha

I started taking Lisinopril at the end of August 2004. I have had this pain in my lower right abdomen off and on for about the 7 months since I started taking this medicine. I have a kidney disease, so I dismissed it as the pains of that I have had since I was 19. I read that it can severely injure a fetus, so what troubles me, if it can cause injury including death to an unborn child, what is it doing to my reproductive organs? And is this pain in my abdomen a sign of damage being done?

I was originally on Norvasc, but had experienced severe swelling in my ankles, so I was switched to Lisinopril and is when my nightmare began. My most recent symptoms include a headache right behind my right eye. It comes and goes, and is like a quick stabbing pain. I was told it was more than likely my allergies, which I am on allegra D for. In reading all these other side effects everyone experiences, I am really scared if I should be taking this. If all these problems are from this medication, what will coming off of it do? I have not experienced the cough as bad as others seemed to have gotten, but I have not been able to get rid of a cold I had gotten in late November, or at least so I thought. It seemed to linger on. I have also been severely fatigued as of late, and no matter how much sleep I receive, I always wake up drained, and lifeless. I do consume higher doses of calcium, and vitamin c, which from what I read, seems to prevent some of the other effects. I feel I have enough illness in my life, that I should not have to deal with other symptoms, or live with the aches and pains, in order to keep my blood pressure down. There has to be another alternative. I am also taking Toprol XL, which I have not experienced any bad symptoms, except for fatigue. I agree with a previous post that dr's are only out to reap the benefits of prescribing these pills that they do not spend any time considering the after effects. I have to be on this medication for the rest of my life, and I do not feel I should have to deal with all these after effects I was never warned about. Only swelling.
