50 Side Effects posted for ringing ears

I posted earlier today about my side effects: ringing ears, headache, nausea, agitation/anxiety, inability to think straight, stuffed nose, etc. Though no fun, I was tolerating the side effects ok so far. Not for long...

Update: Took pill number 4 of 10 (500mg, 1x day) tonight at 6pm. Oh my God. Within an hour I am itching, and where I scratch, there are welts. Then nausea and belching, like I'm gonna vomit. I immediately take 50mg benadryl in case of allergy. Breathing is ok, itching stops. But this poison is making me shaky on the inside, and still nauseous with terrible headache, and muscle aches in my neck and back. I also have a sense of muscle stiffness, bodywide. All this for a "possible" post surgical infection. You couldn't get me to take this again for a million dollars. I am ordering a MedicAlert bracelet with Levaquin on it, as I don't ever want this in my body again. I almost had my husband take me to the ER. I am drinking lots of water to flush it out. I'm sure I am in the minority, and many people take it with no troubles. But all I can say is that I feel like I just took rat poison.

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG! IT IS POISON!

I have this drunk like feeling in my eyes or lightheadedness, its like you are looking to the world from camera, its been more than a year it didn't go away.

Other symptoms I had; Pressure in the head, than it got frequent in time and turned into headache, confusion, not being able to focus, drunk like feeling of the eyes, blurred vision, tingling under feet, ringing in ears and my stomach got worse instead of getting better.

Here is my story; I had high blood pressure and was using atenolol and had pains around my chest. I went to doctor and found out it was related with my stomach so I started Omeprazole 20mg and used it for 6 months.

During this period I was trying to get off atenolol as I didn't want to use any drugs anymore. So I stopped using atenolol but after 3 months I was having pressure in my head, it got more frequent in time turned into lightheadedness (what i mean is that eyes feel like being drunk, blurry and not able to focus well and in time, its like looking to the world from camera). I was thinking that this feeling is related with stopping of medication for blood pressure so I kept on using omeprazole for 6 months. During this time this drunk like feeling got more frequent and after a year now its everyday.

Because I had this dizzy feeling I started blood pressure medication again this time different drug but the drunk feeling didn't go away so I understood it wasn't related with my blood pressure. I went and done all the checkups nothing was found.

Almost a year has passed over using omeprazole now. I was feeling better by time and this drunk like feeling was getting better in time. Recently I got stomach problems again and started using Omeprazole again and blurred, foggy, drunk like feeling, tingling under feet, ringing ears, symptoms got worsen again, plus it didn't give me relief of my stomach even made it worse, so now I understand these symptoms are all related with this Omeprazole.

How come these drugs can exist and they can be prescribed. I am having horrible year because of this feeling and because of this drug. DO NOT EVER USE IT. I will sue these companies who produce this drug!!!

I am 57 years old, and never had HBP, I went to the cardiologist and told me I have 140/80 and prescribed Toprol XL 25mg. I bought the generic ones. Today is my second week and I did not know that my headaches (never had headaches before), electric chocks ringing ears , breathing problems, were a side effect of this pill until reading all these experiences of so many people. I am going to cut half the dosis and lower it, so I get out of this medicine. The doctor made an EKG and gave me Toprol because my left atrial was big due to untreated HBP. Is there any natural product, better than this killing medicine, please advice.

I'm in my ninth day of a ten day regimen of Levaquin for treatment of a sinus infection. I suppose I have fared better than most on this board. I Googled Levaquin and ringing ears due to a recent onset of that symptom. I have also had a mild, nagging headache at the base of my skull or upper neck. I have also experienced a slight queasiness in the past two days, but nothing close to nausea. The past three nights, I have had unusually vivid dreams, although I don't recall any of them being what I would describe as nightmares. Finally, in the past two days, I have experienced what I can only describe as deja vu kind of feelings throughout the day. My symptoms have increased somewhat during the past several days, but none could be described as severe. I guess I will take my final dose and hope for the best, but I will probably try to avoid this drug in the future.

My daughter is a chronic asthmatic and has been on Prednisone for over one year. Since then she has experienced headaches, nausea, sleeplessness, depression, extreme anxiety, mood swings, blurred vision, aching... just about all of the side effects listed. Of particular concern to me are the mood swings, which at this time we are considering having her evaluated. I didn't realize that this drug could do soo much in terms of her behavior. Please help me to understand what is going on with her. She is 12 years old.

Subject: Dr. Zashin's Tapering Schedule (4 mg to 3 mg and beyond)

Dr. Zashin's Tapering Schedule To Reduce Prednisone Withdrawal
In terms of a taper regimen, the longer one has been taking steroids, the slower the taper. I will typically taper patients:

by 5 mg increments when they are taking less than 40 mg of Prednisone
by only 2.5 mg when they reach 20 mg of Prednisone
by 1 mg increments once they reach 10 mg I may elect to decrease the dose on a daily basis for patients who have not been taking steroids long, to monthly in those who have been on them a while.
It is not uncommon, when patients first decrease the dose to feel some achiness or fatigue. These symptoms often resolve over 2- 7 days. If they do not, one may elect to temporarily increase the dose and taper more slowly. Some patients may have difficulty tapering off steroids despite incremental tapers of only 1 mg. Occasionally tapering on an every other day basis may be useful. For example, instead of tapering from 4 mg to 3 mg of Prednisone, one might try taking 4 mg one day and 3 mg the next day for one week.(i.e. an alternate day taper) Then if successful, try 4 mg one day and 2 mg the next and so on until you are on only 4 mg every other day. (e.g. 4 mg one day and 0 the next day) Then, try to go down on that alternate day.

I have been taking adderall for over a year, but for about 10 months ago, I started taking wellbutrin also and since have had chronic problems with my ears, It's actually getting worse. Not so much ear infections, but the pressure is actually pushing inward. So i feel light headed just funky all day. Kind of like a head cold without the cold. I can't figure out which one is causing (i think wellbutrin) since that's when it began. But it could be the combination. Just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this. I am 35 female.
thanks pam

I have been taking Doxcycline for my acne for less than a week and today, an hour after swallowing the pill with a sip of water and no food in my stomach I felt naseauted and dizzy to the point where i could not stand up. Five minutes later I vomitted and had to call in sick. I am wondering if it is worth it. I don't want to fear taking this pill everyday, but want to get rid of my acne. The side effects should be written on the side of the prescription, but they are not. I am skeptical about this drug.

Bless the internet, and bless this site! I have had HORRID panic attacks as I'm relaxing into sleep. While not glad about others misery with the same symptom, I am glad to find out it's most likely this medicine! I've been on Toprol for about nine months now. My Dr. started me off on 50MG, then we had to increase it to 100MG. I then started having extreme shortness of breath, and cut myself back down to 50MG. Mind you, my Dr. is not the one who realized it was the Toprol causing my S.O.B., but rather, I did! I recently had to increase the dosage back to 100MG ( with her approval) as my BP was creeping back up. I've taken up walking about 30, fast paced, minutes, if not daily, than at least five times a week. I've cut down to 1/2 pack of cigarettes a day ( I know, but what's an addict to do?) I'm trying to watch what I eat, and with the exercise I have now lost 13 pounds in a month and a half. =) Sadly, my headaches have returned, as have the ringing ears. I'm afraid it's time for a change in medication. Thanks for easing my mind about the nightly panic attacks!

I had been taking Wellbutrin SR 150 mg for about a month and two days ago I funneled one beer at a football game (I am in college) and i had a seizure. It was really scary. Before that, I was expiriencing very bad anxiety, ringing ears, and felt out of my element. It wasn't for me. But everyone has different expiriences. I just know mine wasnt a positive one.

After five days my hot flushes returned, ringing ears, strange morbid mood, but the big clincher was the MONSTER headaches like a 'high blood pressure head ache', would stretch in bed when moving especially around 4-5am and wham the headache would pound/bound. Headache would calm down if I got up and had coffee. After 4 days I started to get worried and stopped Singulair after 5th 10mg dose, and now two days later headache, jaw pain, pain in upper shoulder muscles and at C-7 spinal vertabrae are all gone and I'm not so over whelmed or dizzy.
What was good? I did not have to use my inhaler for those days, but this certainly is not a 'magic bullet' if you suffer with symptoms that are so dramatic and scary!
Do they prescribe too high a dose?, should it be every other day or once a week? Are they really certain about interaction with other medications and vitamins etc?
I do not think I will try it again, I felt like my headache was on the verge of a CVA!
From a Canadian who was given a prescription i now cannot use.......
