While taking daily dosage of 18mg increasing to 20mg after 4 days (regular increase of 2mg) I experienced a sudden blackout lasting approx. 5 minutes. I am 58 years of age and had never passed out before. The reason was bradycardia and a drop in BP, from a norm of around 125/85 to 95/58. BP and pulse rate normalised in four days but dosage not increased since. No benefit yet found in dosage of 20mg. Slight nausea and insomnia also experienced. Wondering if I should continue; following advice of GP but would really prefer a homeoepathic remedy if there were one available!
Sincerely,
Rita Hudd

Hello Ladies,
I haven't been able to get my emails through for quite some time so I hope this one does! I went to see a NATUROPATHIC Endocrinologist the other day who said it's amazizng that I'm even able to get out of bed after the "Ill effects", as he calls them, of YASMIN. I had seen a "mainstream" endo and she said all of my hormone levels were normal. NOT! I HIGHLY suggest that anyone still suffering, like me(only on for 5mos and stopped mid-July) that you see such a doctor. They will likely do blood work and saliva testing to see where your hormone levels are. Apparently, once you become "estrogin dominant", it's really tough to turn around. This is an ill-effect of almost all b/c pills he tells me. The difference is the extent of the damage.

Good luck!

Rita

Happy New Year, Ladies(and some gentlemen!),

I have written several times in the last month or so but my postings are not getting through. I hope this one does. I am YASMIN free exactly 6 months today. I was only on for a little more than 5 months. I swear going off is worse than when you're on this blasted drug! I have seen SMALL improvements along the way, but I'm nowhere near where I was emotionally or physically. I am still a "blob" and have not shaken the nearly 25 pounds I put on. I am tall and small boned, so any amount of extra weight feels horrible. It's not so much how I look, but how I feel! Please, if someone knows of a supplement, hormone cream or whatever that helps move this stuff out of your system would you post it? Also, SUCCESS STORIES are more than welcome. We who are still suffering need all the encouragement we can get! Me included!

Blessings to All!

Hi,
I haven't written in awhile; I guess I've been trying to not focus so much on my horrible weight gain. Like Sherry, I'm 6.5 months off and the weight has not budged. I'm now shaped like a PEAR when I used to be tall and lean. BUMMER, especially this time of year!
Does ANYONE have ANY suggestions about how to get this weight moving? I eat right and get plenty of exercise. Wish there was an "antidote" for the darned pill!

Merry Christmas to All!
Rita

Ladies(and some gentlemen!):

I'm sure many of you have seen my posts describing my personal experiences with YASMIN, so I won't fo through them all again. Sufice it to say, mine, like many of yours, has been a totally unpleasant and nervewracking experience. I am writing today to encourage ANY of you who have not to PLEASE call Berlex Labs and report your experiences with Yasmin. I spoke with a rep today and was told that until a certain number of complaints come in(she did not give me that number), then they would take no action. So, we need to GET ON THE PHONE! I made my report about 2 months ago and it was arduous, to say the least, to reach someone because of their corporate phone system. The person I spoke with this morning told me the reporting system has been STREAMLINED apparently due to the high volume of complaint calls they've been receiving. So, please, PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL!

The number is 1-888-berlex4 . The prompt will then direct you to "report adverse event".

Also, I found it interesting that this person told me there was no way they could provide me assistance because I am no longer taking YASMIN. I INSISTED that the MAJORITY of my problems started after I stopped, which is why she encouraged me to get all of you on the phone. With enough complaints, including those with adverse effects AFTER coming off YASMIN, they will eventually be able to do something, if only to change the labeling.

So, I'm on a MISSION; how about YOU?

Rita

Thanks Christy for your sound advice.
I'm working hard on that water. 9 cups for me today-yay.
Also-not to dishearten you or frighten you but at 7 weeks I also only gained 4 lbs. As the days pass it just creeps up. Funny but since I stopped the pill I basically became wheat intolerant so I can safely say that I don't eat any wheat (bread, pasta etc.) at all. I hope things will brighten shortly. Keep your head up to chris (rita, silke and everyone) and let us know how you're feeling as the weeks progresses.
Take care-
Sherry

Sherry.
In response to your post about the weight not coming off. I can tell you from PERSONAL experience that NOT eating is one of the WORST things you can do. I did that once because I was on medication(one for pain) that made me so nauseaous that I couldn't eat. First, I lost a TON of weight and looked emaciated. THEN, it started packing on. I've found from working with my nutritionist that your body thinks it's starving and starts "saving" what little nutrition it gets. Also, your metabolism slows down so whatever you eat just gets stored and not burned. Believe it or not, you burn calories by eating!

This is so hard; we are all suffering. I saw my gyno yesterday and she ran all of my tests. I should know next week and will post them if I feel they'll help, even though everyone is different! As for the weight, I BELIEVE(I won't get on the scale and judge by the way my clothes feel - I'm SURE there are some ladies here that can relate, huh?) that the gaining has stopped and MAYBE a slight loss has occured. It's been exactly 4 months off as of Saturday. I was only on for 5 mos.

So, be gentle with yourself and BELIEVE that your body will return to it's normal size. Again, for anyone that's interested, I'm working with a medical intuitive (over the phone) who has been incredibly helpful with turning the effects of this incredibly damaging drug around. Write me personally if you want her info.

Blessings to All!

Dear Sherry,

I FEEL your pain. I've never experienced ANYTHING like this and HOPE that someone brings a lawsuit!!! I see my gyno tomorrow(a woman) to get my a blood levels tested, including progesterone, testosterone, etc. She argued with me for MONTHS telling me that there was NO WAY yasmin could be causing these problems. Can't wait til she sees what a "butterball" I've become! Gotta be able to laugh, which you seem to be able to do! It's hard, I KNOW, but it will save your life!
