I am not sure of the origin, but I have my issues outlined below since I switched to the mail order Simvastatin. I was getting it from Rite Aid for over 2 years without issues. I found out mail order Simvastatin was made by same company as Rite Aid, TEVA.
My issue is throbbing in neck, high blood pressure (HBP), twitching in eyes (prob due to HBP), uncomfortable in general. I also know that I took pill in morning and by 9am issue would start and get worse into lunchtime, where is was the worst, then subside by 2 or 3 pm. Doc said it was nerves and stress and gave a script for that. Also said get off of simvstatiin for 2 weeks. Well without much or any change to the stressors in my life work, stock market, etc, I am not experiencing the throbbing or HBP. I have not taken the script for stress or the Simvastatin either. Didn't like the idea doc said you can get addicted to stress pill. I will get back in Simvastatin shortly, but do expect to be back where I was within a week or so. Anyone else experience this throbbing and HBP.

I've been on the generic of Loestrin for almost a year now (Generic is Microgestin - which by the way is much less expensive - I pay $10 at Rite Aid Pharmacy). I haven't had any side effects other than not getting my period. Its good to see that everyone else here is experiencing this same side effect. Every month I don't get my period i freak out in a mad panic. I don't even get pre-menstrual symptoms anymore ie) breast tenderness or just that "feeling" you get when you know its comming. I was on Ortho Tri Cylcen Lo for 6 years and never had a problem - i got my period like clock work and it always came with the physical systoms that i was getting it 3 or 5 days before. Due to Ortho Lo not being covered by my insurance, i decided to switch to a less expensive pill i could get in generic. BAD IDEA. If you're sexually active and not in a stable or committed relationship i strongly don't suggest this pill. Personally I like the assurance that i'm not pregnant. Id like to get back on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, but the Loestrin is covered by my insurance, inexpensive, and ultimately i'm never preggers (so it does work when taken correctly), but the fear and anxiety is NOT healthy for my emotional well being. If you don't like getting a period, this is a great pill. Its probably best suited for someone not so sexually active or in a situation where a getting a period each month is an inconvenience - if you're traveling, going overseas, in the military or something.
Lastly, After reading everyone else's side effects i'm starting to realize maybe i'm having more effects than i originally thought. I didn't put two and two together before, but now i'm starting to wonder about the headaches. I've never experienced chronic headaches before in my life until recently. About once a month i get terrible headaches for one or two days - i have to take 4 advils every 12 hours or so. My appetite hasn't change, i haven't gained any weight, and no hair loss for me.

I have been taking Aviane for about 2 years now and i can agree with almost everyone. In the beginning it is really rough because your body has to get used to it. After about 3-4 months though it does get better. However there are still some things that don't go away, such as the loss of sex drive. In the past i have tried everything from numerous pills to the shot to the patch and my body strongly disagrees with all of them. I finally found something that cured almost everything, and now my pharmacist tells me its been discontinued.
He gave me substitute called Lutera and said it was the same thing just made by a different company. If its all the same thing, why do they discontinue one and not the other? I asked him why it was discontinued and he couldn't or maybe wouldn't tell me. Does anyone know why? I am going to try the Lutera but i know from experience that just because its the same thing doesn't mean it will work the same.

As I write this, I'm on my fourth day taking Levaquin 500 mg. prescribed by my doctor for severe nasal congestion, sore throat, difficult cough. I have bouts like this on a yearly basis that start around Thanksgiving till late spring. I do remember taking Levaquin before though didn't notice anything bad (yet). As I read through different messages, I now come to realize that maybe I should go back and check the time I took Levaquin because I've been suffering from so much muscle aches and pains for a quite a very long time now. Since I started taking Lipitor 3 years ago, I'm inclined to think my pains were due to side effects of Lipitor. That's just another issue.
As of yesterday afternoon, on the third day of taking Levaquin, I was informed by my pharmacist that I OVERDOSED since Friday and Saturday by 2000 mg. I was prescribed 500 mg. one tablet per day. Whoever typed "Take one tablet every day by mouth after meals" in the pharmacy must have too many "ssss" in their pockets. "After a meal or after meals" are definitely not the same, don't you all agree? I didn't just read the label and followed instructions as I understood it. The pharmacist confirmed what I read back to him as typed. I thought pharmacists know how a certain drug should be taken. But that's another story to tell. I'm too concerned learning about the bad effects of Levaquin for me to find time and question a pharmacist integrity.
I called my doctor first thing today and told them of this oversight (should it be mine or the pharmacist?). I was told to continue with the medication and call them how I'd feel in a couple of days. So I took just one tablet today. That was easy.
Now after reading all these different bad things happening to people taking Levaquin, I am thinking of the future. Should I be worried about the bad side effects of Levaquin taken exactly as prescribed? What about those 2 days of overdose? I guess, I have to find that out myself in due time as I will not stop from finding out more about this drug.
I don't think I will continue taking this drug tomorrow. I don't know what will happen but I'm sure my doctor will find a way to fix my upper respiratory problems. He must have heard about other patients complaining about Levaquin. I will make sure he will take my opinion seriously.
To all of your valuable inputs and opinions and warnings about the harsh effects of Levaquin, thank you very much and may you continue on passing to one and all your valuable insights. Count me in!!!!!
Tomorrow will be a new day and I will be on my toes making sure I will fight the harsh side effects as early as I could. I know it will be worth the fight if I kick these damaging effects at its early stage, hoping I will be lucky to do so.
God Bless to all!

An Urgent Care doctor perscribed this to my 16 year old son. We do trust our doctors, but apparently this is NOT to be given to minors. After ONLY the 2 pill, my son could not hardly speak, his jaw was so so crooked, I thought he was having a stroke! He was so petrified and it truly was the most horrble thing we have ever gone through. We rushed him to ER and the doctor could not beleive that the perscribed this to a 16 year old, and that Rite Aid filled this prescription! Never would I recommend this. The ER doctor said as soon as it was out of my sons system he would be okay, and recommended Benadryl. After the first dose of Benadryl, he was okay and this drug was out of his system in about 2 days. Another terrible side effect was his face would not stop twitching. AWEFUL.

Crippeling Migranes......I went to see two doctors and complained about the migraines I have been getting. All they want to do is give you more pills to pop. I was in bed all weekend thought about going to the ER. I have always suffered from them but in the past year they have become increasing worse. I know about the other side effects, I've been on the ring sense November of 2006 and they passed. When i went to Rite aid the pharmisist told me that the ring causes migraines.....Hello, both doctors knew I was using it, they couldn't tell me this?
