Wow! I finally have answers to all my questions. I had a baby in 6/08 and 10 weeks later had Mirena Inserted. I only had 5 lbs or less to lose to be back to pre pregnancy weight, all my clothes still fit. Today I am 15 to 20lbs heavier. I have a bald spot on my left temple(Christmas time). I thought that my husband pulled my hair out I woke up and looked in the mirror and couldn't believe it, it didn't look shaved it was out by the roots but it wasn't painful whatsoever or any redness, now I know after reading,on top of that, thinning of the hair.
My vision especially at night is just horrible I cannot see. Dizziness. My moodiness is almost unbearable I am so hateful and stay mad at my husband. I do not get out of bed until around 11 am and don't even feel rested (fortunately my daughter sleeps in late) so I have to force myself to do the bare necessities.
Now the discharge has been around about a month after I had Mirena put in. Like others have said old blood, white non smelly discharge, and I bleed after sex every time it isn't painful but its almost like it hasn't healed.
I do not want to get my tubes tied and I absolutely do not want anything with hormones in it so after more research I'm thinking about getting the Essure Coil as a form of sterilization.

The medication I wish to post on is not listed. I know that Valerian root is in the pill, as well as a few other roots and melatonin.
Last night I took SleepMD for the 1st time. Within 15 minutes of taking the pill, I started feeling funny. I became very night leaded and my swallowing became difficult. After about 15 more minutes of trying to calm down, my breathing became difficult, and my throat felt more think inside. I started shaking uncontrollably as well. My roommate called 911, my vitals were a little high, but I was getting 100% oxygen. They took me to the hospital, where I received IV meds and breathing treatments to help.
I'm a nurse, and I know that the worst reactions come the second time you take/ingest something. The doc told me to stay away, stick with benadryl. I basically had a mild anaplylactic reaction, which would go full blow next time if I took it again.
If it works for you guys, awesome! But just be careful.

My symptoms are
Massive hair loss by the roots, which started about 2 years after going OFF the pill and hasn't stopped. Some hair still hasn't grown back yet.
Bloating with water retention (this is where the bigger boobs come into it).
Leg Cramps
Pins & Needles in legs and toes
Cold/numb spots on one leg
Can go without sex for long periods
However, the benefits are:
clear skin, no mood swings. No depression.

Wow! I cant believe other women have had these same symptoms, I started the NuvaRing about three months ago after I lost a baby very early in gestation, I swore I would never have to go through that again, so my doctor put me on the NR and I couldn't tell If I was still hormonal from the pregnancy or if it was the ring, But Im a wreck! Im so mean and hateful to my husband pretty much mean to everyone, I feel like this big mean lady walking around, and thats not me not at all I have crazy dreams, horrible anxiety, panic attacks and PMS from HELL. I have never been on birth control before so I have nothing to compare it to. But after reading this.Im really considering taking it out so I can be myself again.

I received my first shot of Gardasil in January 2007. It could have started sooner, but about a month later my hairdresser noticed a bald spot in the back of my head. I rushed back to my ObGyn and asked her if the Gardasil could be the cause as nothing else had recently changed. She said that she had not heard of this, but she referred me to a dermatologist. I asked him if my hair loss had anything to do with the Gardasil. He replied that I had Alopecia areata and one thing had nothing to do with the other. He advised that I continue with the Gardasil and that he would start treating me for the alopecia. I wish that I would not have listened. I don't know what would have happened if I had stopped then, but I didn't I proceeded with the treatment to the end now over half of my head is bald!!!
I don't know what to do. I keep going back to the dermatologist for treatments for the alopecia, but it just keeps getting worse.
If anyone has had a similar experience and would like to share or has found some other treatments that work, please post a reply.

Hi, thought I'd share my positive story about having Mirena removed. Having it removed was no doubt the best decision even though two doctors told me that it was not necessary and the loss of hair, graying and loss of libido could not be due to Mirena since it releases minute amounts of hormones locally. Not only have I seen a return to my libido but the hair loss has stopped. this cannot be placebo effect. Even my husband has noticed the difference (no more clogged drains). Thank God! I felt like I was aging at the rate of knots. I now feel so much happier, healthier and more attractive. For all out there who are wondering if it's the Mirena causing hair loss etc, I sincerely believe it is probably very much the case, despite what the medics will tell you. Best wishes.

Wow after reading all these postings I'm nervous, just had a kenalog shot yesterday for a possible disk problem (MRI in a week). I am concerned about the possible indentation at the injection site (lower back) as I had a similar situation develop years ago and saw a surgeon, who thought it was some calapsing of the muscle. I went in for surgery under local ann., but when they got in they found it had roots and was growing, to late to go under general and they had to dig it out. The most pain I have ever experienced, it was benign and now I had a kenalog shot in the same area and to make matters worse I still have the same pain today as I did yesterday.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but all the same I'll say this. I started taking Singulair several years ago and noticed myself becoming more and more detached from the people around me. I would feel paranoid towards those who were close to me and would have thoughts of shoving people into fences or walls... just a buncha violent ideas would come to me. Then once after I'd run out of a container of Singulair, I began feeling tons more social and friendly. It was like knots in my chest slowly loosened themselves and I could breathe again. My asthma was under control without the medication, but I eventually got another month's worth of Singulair, and suddenly the old thoughts returned except now I developed insomnia to the point where I could hardly fall asleep even with sleep aids. There were nights when I'd sit up in my bed and imagine the worst things in the world about friends in my life and how they'd all turn on me one day. I noticed I had begun having these thoughts after I'd restarted taking Singulair, and stopped immediately. Instead, I chewed on some Ginseng leaves, which I'd boughten on a trip in Thailand every so often (they're green and not pills, and I didn't even chew them everyday) and both my asthma and my allergies seemed to be a thing of the past.
I ran out of the leaves and went back to Singulair, and now I'm having the same paranoid dillusions. But trust me, I've noticed and I'm not going to take any more.
Take my advice though, try Ginseng leaves. Not the roots, the leaves.

ALL, if you are taking TOPAMAX for migraines you need to read the article in last year's Science News where doctors have linked the migraines to a heart defect that is common in women and once corrected the migraines go away completely. Long term use of TOPAMAX may be detrimental to your health. I recently posted: My wife is experiencing massive hair loss. She had a metabolic panel ran on her to ensure it is not thyroid and is scheduled to see a specialist on hair loss next week. I just came off the National Institute of Health website at www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a697012.html where they list hair loss as one of the problems with the drug. They recommend that you see a physician immediately. My Wife's hair was literally coming out by the roots and since her hair is naturally thin it won't be long before she is bald unless she can get it stopped.
