Prednisone is a miracle drug that is saving my life. I realize that the side effects can happen and do. I've experienced them too: pockets of fat on my face even though I've lost 25 pounds; loss of hair; Thrush in the mouth and other yeast infections; hyperactivity; insomnia; blurry vision; the shakes; reduction in muscle tone; and secondary infections because of compromised immune system. I have pulmonary fibrosis and waiting for a lung transplant. There is no known cause, cure, or treatment of this terminal disease and most patients die in 1-5 years. Prednisone is the only drug that will at least slow the disease down until I receive that transplant call. I realize that most people on this post are not terminally ill and you can say, "no" to this drug; but just wanted you to know that for some of us it's a miracle drug.

A lot of gas, strange yellow stools, very dry skin and the allergies that I have are even worse (sort of like my immune system is in over-drive).

When I first started taking Lamictal, I experienced A LOT of hypomania/mania and irritablity. I occasionally do have problems staying asleep if I do not take Benadryl along with it at night. For some reason I have started chewing the insides of my mouth - no, no sores there and this was a mild habit before the Lamictal that has gotten worse.

All of this being said? This drug is fantastic. I am experiencing a sense of balance and clarity that I haven't had in 25 or 30 years. It's like I don't have any mental health problems at all - I feel normal and it's wonderful. It does, however, take a long long time to ramp up to an effective dosage - hold out, it's worth it!

I noticed nervousness upon first starting, which I was worried about since I also have anxiety with depression, but this nervousness dissapated after a week or two into the drug.

However, one almost indefinately needs to take ritalin with another drug, such as Wellbutrin or Prozac or etc., in order to derive maximum benefits from. Also because I think Ritalin tends to make one too much of something; such as too nervous, stimulated, or angry depending on the individual, and needs to be offset by another drug, especially so or maybe this is only true if there is a disorder in the brain in the first place. I find this is true in myself and need to supplement it with several other meds in order to harness the benefits from Ritalin.

It would be nice if Ritalin came packaged with a med that offsets its negative effects, kind of like how shampoo and conditioner all in one is sometimes packaged in one bottle.

However, the medication is a good one, and has enabled me to function in life. It's wonderful when I'm at work on time or 10 minutes early every day. I love ironing my clothes in the morning for a change and not feeling "lazy", which never was even the case.

I'm no longer described as "spacey" or "stupid" or ditsy like I'd been by many other peers in the past. Now I feel at times intelligent and at least capable and competent or on par with others.

What price can you pay to achieve this?

Highly recommended for sufferers of ADD with or without hyperactivity.

I used to get injections each spring and fall and they helped. But my allergies got so bad that I finally went to an allergist. I was amazed to find our everythng I was allergic to including a lot of foods I ate on a regular basis and most of the trees in this area of the the US along with all grasses. I have now been taking allgery shots for 2 years. To all those suffering from hayfever and the like. Please go this route and desensitize your body to these irritants instead of the kenalog shots. It's wonderful to be able to smell flowers again! My sinuses are almost always clear now and no more sinus infections!

I started taking Singulaire about 3 months ago , along with three blood pressure medications and a couple of other medications. I started having extreme weakness in my legs and couldn't trace it to anything I"d done or not done. This was the only new drug I was on. When i get off it, the weakness subsides but the allergy, coughing etc comes back. it's wonderful for my allergies, but I can't walk any distance without this weakness in my legs practically stopping me in my tracks. i"m off it again for awhile. LaLee..
