I just got my Mirena removed today. I am SO excited. I have had it in for 1 year and it has been the worst year of my life. My symptoms were :MIGRAINES!- for which I was admitted to the hospital, they did all kinds of tests, and found nothing-( they even gave me an IV of morphine, and the migraine was so intense, i still felt it with the morphine.), arthritis- (or EXTREME ACHING in all of my joints, especially my hips, knees and lower back area., pain in my chest- like unable to breath, pain in my neck, I was sleeping 9 hrs a day and still exhausted and lately its been severe insomnia, cramping in my lower stomach and bloating really bad. I am 5"3, 21 yrs old, originally 107 pounds, and have two kids. After my daughter I was on Seasonique and although it made me have mood swings it was NOTHING in comparison to this. After my daughter I lost all the baby weight and then some. Even after I had my son in the 6 weeks before I got the Mirena, I lost all of the baby weight and was back down to 107 pounds. Now I weigh 130 pounds- and thats doing the same exercises and eating the same that I have always done. I have also never had ANY UTI's and I have had consistent UTI's since I have had it in, that have NOT gone away with various medications. I have had NO sex drive. Absolutely NONE, and I am 21years old! I felt very fatigued every day and it took all my strength and energy and mostly motivation that I HAVE TO provide for my family, to get up and go to work everyday. I read the brochure for Mirena when I got it inserted, and there were NONE of these side effects. I found some of these side effects on the Canadian website, and found people's horror stories of having Mirena in. I am SO happy to have finally gotten it out and am looking forward to being a normal healthy person again.

I was thinking about switching from Seasonique, which I loved, to Jolessa due to the giant cost difference. Has anyone made this switch? Also, has anyone had spotting who has been on a birth control that lasted 91 days like Seasonique or Seasonale, after making the switch to Jolessa?

I've been on Seasonique for over a year and it has worked very well and I only get my period four times a year, without spotting, but it is too expensive for me to keep paying for out of pocket.

Hey I'v been on this pill for close to a year now. My period got lighter and lighter and now I don't even get one anymore. My boobs are very tender from it. The doctor did say its normal to not get a period but it still freaks me out because I'm a major worrywort. I'm not concerned about pregnancy bc I use a condom every time and take my pilla t the same time and never miss one. Has anyone been on this pill for awhile and just doesn't get their period? It scares me but everyone says its normal.

I have to say first of al, Quasense is the generic for seasonal, not seasonique, the are different. Seasonique is over $250 where seasonale is only around $160. They generic Quasense is around $115. How people figure that is any more expensive than your old pills is beyond me. haven't they always cost around $30-$40 a month?? Yes, as someone on the pill for 10 years, they have always cost that much and unless you're used to getting them for free from a clinic you shouldn't be surprised.
That being said, I started with seasonale then they actually switched it to quasense on me and I didn't even know i was getting a different prescription. I'm sure it's because it just came out, I started this in 2005. I am in absolute heaven. In the beginning I had some spotting and It'll happen every now and then, but it doesn't affect anything for me, it is very slight. When I do have my period i seriously go through about 6 tampons for the whole period. I don't wear one at night because it would always be dry in the morning, and I don't have to put one in until after I get around to showering. It lasts about 2.5 days. This pill is a life saver for me. My fiance says he would be happy to get a vasectomy, but then I would have to start having periods every month again if i went off the pill. NO THANKS!
I cant believe I used to live my life having 3 months of bleeding every year! Now I bleed for maybe 12 days a year. I have had absolutely no weight gain, no mood swings, no discomfort during my period other than a slight cramps. Everybody is going to react differently to the pill, that is why there are so many of them of them to choose from. I say at least try this pill. Talk about liberation!!!!!

Oh! Thank God I'm not the only one dealing with this. I have pretty much the same side effects as everyone who has posted. I was on Seasonique for one cycle (which was fine, some light spotting) then the Pharm gave me Quasense. I'm about four weeks into the pack and I've noticed my clothes are fitting tighter and just thought it was holiday weight, but now I'm thinking its probably the pills! For the last week I've also had spotting and bleeding so much so that I can't have sex with my b/f either. Which is the reason I went on the pills in the first place -- more time for sex! I've had migraines in the past, but since going on Quasense I've had two in the past four weeks! I was worried I'm going to have a stroke or something! I called my doctor immediately after reading all the similar posts and had them call in a refill "brand necessary" for Seasonique. The nurse said that the bleeding and side effects were probably due to the Quasense, because even though Pharms prescribe the generic in place of the brand name, they are not exactly the same pharmacologically! If you are having problems with this pill, call your doctor and switch! No need to suffer or "stick it out" since everyone's body reacts differently to the pills. These are expensive and they should work like they are supposed to!

I was on seasonique for 6 months and never experienced anything out of the ordinary, not once. I switched to seasonale because it had a generic, quasense. It is much cheaper. I have had no problems with quasense whatsoever. I love it! No weight gain, spotting, nothing!! It is awesome... for me that is. It works wonderfully.

Thank God I found this site! I thought I was losing it! I've been on lisinopril 10mg for about 2 weeks now. I've been extremely tired, can't stop urinating, havent had a period ( i took 2 pregnancy tests-negative- PLUS i'm on seasonique and never missed a pill, so I know i'm not pregnant) I feel nauseous in the morning after I take it. I'm also on an anti-depressant, so I wasn't sure if it might be that. After reading all these posts, I'm almost positive it's the lisinopril. It would have been nice if my PCP told me what to expect, the leaflet at CVS certainly downplayed alot of of it.

I started taking FEMCON FE about 6 weeks ago after being put on Seasonique, which caused me to have a period for 2 months straight. I started the FEMCON FE when the doctor told me to and bled for about 6 more days then stopped for 2 days then spotted for 3 days then started my period. My period was much heavier w/this pill, but it was only the first month. I've noticed that my moods are much better w/FEMCON FE than with Seasonique, which while taking it nearly cost me my marriage and my job!! My skin is fine and I'm actually losing weight. I'm only 1 1/2 weeks into my second pack, but will check back after third month.

I'm a couple weeks into taking this Loestrin pill, after being on Seasonique for about 3 months, and I'm nervous about it. I'm in a monogamous relationship with my boyfriend, he uses condoms , and I'm on birth control , but I'm experiencing nausea in the morning, weird food cravings, unpleasant cramps, headaches, but still light blood spotting. I was absolutely terrified that I was pregnant, but after reading these other entries, it seems mildly common to 'be pregnant' for a month. To be safe I'm getting a pregnancy test, but I'm hoping that the chemicals in the Loestrin doesn't mess with the test. I don't think I dig these pills very much if this is going to happen every month.

Hello! My name is Lisa and I had a HORRIBLE experience with Yaz. I took Yaz for 2 months after 3 months of Seasonique. I had switched because Seasonique made me extremely moody (all of a sudden I hated everyone on the planet). My OB gave me a few months worth of Yaz. Within weeks I noticed a strong stomach pain. I contacted my OB and he thought I just had a stomach virus. This pain continued on for several more weeks. I called my OB again and he just said, "The pill doesn't do that." I got a second opinion from another OB and he also agreed.... "The pill doesn't do that." Then out of desperation I made an appt with my Fam doctor and he diagnosed me with Gastritis.... said that he thought my diet was the cause of my pain. Uh, let me mention this.... this stomach pain is so severe you literally CAN'T eat anything cause if you do, 5 mins later you will be in SEVERE pain. To get a better picture of this pain just think of glass shards piercing through your stomach walls (I thought just maybe I was getting an ulcer). My Fam doctor gave me a months worth of Aciphex (which never never never helped at all) and I also saw him twice more in that month (which was my 2nd month of Yaz). He got so frustrated with me... it was Gastritis and if I wanted it to go away I had to be willing to make changes in my diet (I still was not eating and was losing weight) and also be patient enough for the Aciphex to take effect. Finally, out of frustration I quit Yaz. Within weeks my stomach pain was completely gone.
Let me say this to all women reading this. I don't care what your OB says.
There is no need to tolerate any pain from a medication.... especially when there are other options out there. To have a doc tell you to "wait it out for a few months" is ridiculous. To not be able to eat for days or even weeks is dangerous to your health. I eventually googled Yaz + Side Effects and found that the severe stomach pain I was having was a possible side effect and it even instructs you to tell your physician if you experience such pain. Why is it I opted to tell not 1 but 3 docs this and no-one would listen??????? Personally I would like to see all 3 docs lose their jobs because they should have known this.
Ladies, tell anyone you know about this pill. Get the WORD out about this pill. I frequently go on Yahoo Answers and girls are always asking advice on birth control pills and I jump at every chance to spread the word. Let's get this pill OFF OF THE MARKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I know this section is for posting side effects but I was wondering if someone could please help me and provide me with some information. I am very athletic and active so any type of spotting/bleeding is NOT FOR ME. I am trying to eliminate my monthly period. I was on Depo Provera for several years and loved it. No periods everything fine except for a low sex drive. Then I ran into some problems and had to stop that. Plus my doctor said it causes osteoporosis.
Then I tried Seasonique which was awful as I had instant weight gain and breast tenderness like crazy. Was only on that for a few weeks!!!
Then I heard about Lybrel which is supposed to stop your periods after some time so I started that at the end of December last year (2007). I had spotting and some bleeding EVERY DAY and a few days ago had a lot of bleeding but I also played with the dosage per doctor's request. So I saw my doctor today and I said enough is enough what else can I try? So she gave me the Loestrin 24 Fe and I will start that Sunday. She said many people stop having periods after a few months of use. HOWEVER, after reading these posts, I am thinking NO BC is right for me now. If anyone can help me on my goal of eliminating the curse or convince me that this pill is OKAY after 3 months I would appreciate it. Please email me at escarle1@hotmail.com. Thank and I hope to hear back soon!

I am 21 years old and have never been on birth control before. I went to the doctor asking for yaz but she suggested i didn't take it because of the high level of potassium it has. I wanted yaz because i get severely depressed right before my period. But when i told the doctor about my cramps she suggested Femcon FE. So i said sure why not! I've only been on it for 2 1/2 weeks and I've have breakthrough bleeding for the past 3 days now, and i woke up 4am with the worst cramps in my entire life! i was in so much pain i vomited! finally i was able to sleep...and when i woke up i called the doctor and she said she could write me a prescription for the cramps, but i said no since they went away. Also I've never been so depressed! and this is coming from a girl who has fought depression for years. I'm on my spring break now and i don't want to do anything but cry cry cry! i feel bad for my boyfriend and my mom having to deal with me. Even I'm getting annoyed with myself! I had high expectations for birth control, i thought it would change my life and help out with PMDD. I really hope this changes, I'll let you know what happens cause I'm going to stick it out for the next 3 months! If anyone could suggest another pill just in case i still hate it in 3 months, that would be very helpful!

I receveid this email today.

Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2008 11:24:01 -0400 (EDT)

I received this information and thought that it was very important so pass
it on to friends and family.

MENSTRUAL CYCLE-PLEASE READ!
PASS THIS ON EVEN IF YOU DO NOT USE IT

Recently this past week, my cousin Nicole Dishuk (age 31...newly grad
student with a doctoral degree about to start her new career as a
Doctor...) was flown into a nearby hospital, because she passed out.
They found a blot clot in her neck, and immediately took her by
helicopter to the ER to operate. by the time they removed the right half
of her skull to relieve the pressure on her brain, the clot had spread
to her brain causing severe damage.

Since last Wednesday night, she was battling. They induced her into a
Coma to stop the blood flow, They operated 3 times.. Finally, they said
there was nothing left that they could do. They found multiple clots in
the left side of her brain.. The swelling wouldn't stop, and she was on
life support.. She died at 4:30 yesterday. She leaves behind a husband,
and a 2yr old Brandon and a 4yr old Justin.. The CAUSE of DEATH - they
found
was a birth control she was taking that allows you to only have your
period 3 X's a year... They said it interrupts life's menstrual cycle, and
although it is FDA approved... shouldn't be -

So to the women in my address book - I ask you to boycott this product &
deal with your period once a month - so you can live the rest of the
months that your life has
in store for you.
*Please send this to every woman you know - you may save someone's
life...Remember, you have a CYCLE for a reason!

Fyi.
The name of this new birth control pill is Lybrel. If you go to
Lybrel.com> <<
http://lybrel.com>> , you will find at least 26 pages of information
regarding this drug. The second birth control pill is, Seasonique. If
you go to the website of, Seasonique.com <
http://Seasonique.com
http://seasonique.com>> <> , you
will find 43 pages of information regarding this drug. The warnings and
side effects regarding both pills are horrible.

Please, please forward this information to as many daughters AND sons,
co-workers, friends and relatives. Several lives have already been
changed.

Hello Everyone,

First I would like to address those who had terrible reactions to the drug. My heart goes out to you and please don't be offended when I tell you this: Life is a risk and when it comes to science there are never guaranties. With anything you will have a side effect good or bad. You will be a Guinea pig no matter who you are or what drug you take, because everyone reacts differently. Some good and Some Bad.

Second, to those of you who are looking into this for a cure, sorry unfortunately like cancer this is a reoccurring disease. The drug is to help calm your system down and to give your body a rest. I would have to say Lupron saved my life. After all the years of pain and suffering, and hospital visits that occurred due to the severe pain. After having surgery to remove these areas and the doctor who recommended this drug to me was a life saver. I was on it for a year and was put on the NuvaRing afterwards and had mood swings and hot flashes, BUT Ladies...No PERIODS and NO MORE PAIN!! Yeah I gained a little weight, but that was water weight, you can go to your local health food store to buy herbal diuretics and exercise...excercise. I agree Lupron isn't for everyone, but either is another drug out there. You take a chance with any chemical you put in your body. It is HOPE that encourages us to try these medications. I have to say 10 years later I had a beautiful little boy and yes they say even pregnancy gives you relief, but unfortunately for me I had a C-section. Causing me more scar tissue and a reoccurred of severe endometriosis. Due to funds and no insurance I have had to be put on a sister drug called Depo-Provera. It is similar side effects, but ladies take my advice. Lupron isn't for everyone, but I think if you are a good candidate for the drug, try it. It might make a difference in your life...I pray it is positive!!

I was on the NuvaRing for about 4 years and loved it. I never had any spotting or break through bleeding the entire time I was on it. I did notice that my periods lasted longer than before. I never felt the Ring when it was in, not even during sex! I guess everything just reacts differently with different people's bodies. I would at least recommend that everyone try this out. It was great not to have to worry about taking a pill every day. I recently switched to Seasonique becuase the idea of 4 periods a year sounded great. I am experiencing a lot of nausea and some other side effects that I never had with the Ring...if the side effects don't subside within a few months I will be switching back to the Ring.

I started taking Quasense around the end of May , when I first started taking it I was perfectly fine for the first month . Well I came on my period at the end of June which I wasn't expecting because your periods are only suppose to come every three months and I had just had a period before I had started taking the pill. Since the end of June I have been on my period , it stoped for about an week and came right back. I called an clinician and they said for the first three months of the pill your body is getting use to the hormones so I want to know will it eventuall stop soon, or what is going on with my body ,and also is this normal?

Oh my gosh Yasmin is not for me for sure.
I started taking it about 3 weeks ago and thought at first I felt crappy for other reasons. I can't sleep through the night, have headaches, cramps, back pain, and feel as though I am getting a yeast infection! wow how bad is that.
I think I will go back to Seasonique.
I was using Yasmin to help with PCOS but it's just not worth feeling this bad :(
