I have had a total of 5 kenalog injections in my back for no disk left between two vertebrae, doc says fused naturally and no movement. I still have pain. I am scheduled to have yet another shot in the neck area, 5 bulging disks causing pain around the shoulder blade. I have less sciatic pain, but I have HEADACHES for the 3 months since the first shot, they don't go away. No OTC pain relief works for these headaches. The doc says the kenalog does NOT cause headaches, I know these guys lie or don't care about the FDA list of side effects. I am hesitant about getting another shot. He wanted me to have this one done under sedation, I declined, since I had the others without. He said more sensitive area and don't want you to flinch. I also get, I assume kenalog injections in both feet for morton's neuroma. Left foot shot worked. Right foot 3 shots and still hurts and numb, they can't seem to get it right. I am tired of getting the shots, and today I went to that pain management doctor and forgot to ask him how long can I expect the shots to help the pain, years? months? or weeks. I barely do anything anymore, afraid to bend, or even move. I had to go to ER first time for my back on 2/14/09 and sent to different docs and finally pain management. For those of you whose docs don't order an MRI for you, I wouldn't have the shot. I had and MRI of the back and neck and this doctor gives the shots while I lay on a fluoroscope table, I can see on the screen in front of me where the doctor is injecting. Hit and miss without an MRI is just not medically correct. Good luck to all and gonna think about whether to get another shot next Thurs.

I have had some interesting times with Remeron. I take 30 mg at night. I have gained about 20 pounds on it! It is true what others have written here it makes some people have an eating compulsion. It is hard to describe the feeling but at night you feel like you are forever hungry. I have found I can cope with this hunger side effect by carefully watching what I am eating and switching to healthy snacks like fruits and veggies. I have been on it for 6 months. I tried to go off the medication several days ago but I felt so depressed being off it. I think some of the depression is withdrawal from it. It helps me sleep better and lowers anxiety during the day. It cuts back my panic attacks also. I would not recommend it if you are already a heavy eater. I can imagine it would have a disastrous wait gain. Remeron makes you sleepy too during the day. I find I have to give myself 11 hrs for the sedation to wear off. So I take it at 9:30 and go to bed at 10:00. If I take it later I have problems staying awake at work. Even with the hunger problem and sedation I plan to stay on this medication since it has helped my depression and it doesn't have GI upset I had with Lexapro or Effexor. If you have sleep problems and anxiety Remeron might help you. Make sure you keep up with exercise and watch portion control with food and you can cope with the side effects.

Now that I have had mine removed and can think clearly again, I just realized that I had anxiety at work all year long and felt so overwhelmed with everything coming at me all the time, feeling like I had developed Adult ADD and scared I would lose my job because I couldn't keep up or kept screwing up little things with my foggy brain. WOW - it was this IUD messing up my body and my mind the whole time. Why won't doctors listen to us and hear our cry for help???

My 12 year old son was put on Geodon for BPD. He was started at 40mg BID and 3days later upped to 60mg BPD. He slept through the first 3 days at 40mg and I contacted psydoc hesitant to increase. She insisted that paradoxical reactions happen at lower doses and that we should increase it.
Also...said the sedation would eventually wear off. On day two at 60mg my 12 year old started having intrusive thoughts of a sexual nature. They were horrible!! He begged me to make them stop. We stopped the Geodon. He is now very depressed, going through withdrawl, vomiting and still having intrusive thoughts that won't stop of the most perverse sexual nature.
The psych ward for kids is full and he can't be admitted. He is begging for help to make the horrible thoughts stop. It's been about 40 hours since last dose. I called psydoc after the assessment to say he wasn't admitted to hospital and still vomiting and going through withdrawl and begging for someone to help him to stop these thoughts. She has not called us back and it's been four hours.

I took Tegretol for years to stabilize mood swings; diagnosis was schizoaffective, but probably that was due to side effects of antidepressants. I had never had any mania until prescribed antidepressants for depression and bulimia.
Tegretol: any time dose was changed, I would have headaches. Fierce headaches. If I tried to increase dose too fast, the result was sedation to the point of acting like I was drunk(staggering and grogginess.) I thought the Tegretol was stabilizing my moods for some time, but still had mood swings and irritability. Was put on SSDI during the time I took it, since I became unable to hold a job. My behavior was sometimes very illogical and inappropriate on this medication.
Also, was always either anemic or on the verge of anemia due to the effects of the Tegretol. This was while taking iron supplements.
I did not gain much weight (5 pounds?) but only because I dieted and exercised a LOT.
My dr found it hard to believe Tegretol gave me headaches, and told me that Tegretol is given to prevent trigeminal nerve pain etc., but the headaches decreased dramatically when I went off the med.

weight gain, stuffy nose, irritability, feelings like i can't express emotions clearly, extreme sedation, tunnel vision, leg pains, swollen eyelids. i admit that it has helped with mania and mixed epsiodes, but has not excluded it all together. my dr. swears by it, though. i'm really wondering if it's worth these side effects.

I've experienced a lot of weight gain, bad sexual side effects, sedation, my breasts discharged, increased appitite, and costipation.
I went on it for paranoid delusions, and after taking it I started to hear things.

The drug in which I was given was 3% Polocaine Dental. I experienced an abrupt onset of dizziness and blurred vision. I also felt as if I was given some light sedation. Almost like I was given a low dose of Versed. It has taken several hours for the feelings to disappear. I have tried researching this and haven't found much information on the internet nor did I find the insert they place in the package that helpful.

I started on Seroquel to control negative thoughts and eliminate recurring dreams.I find that since taking the drug for about a month I am experiencing an exaggeration of my emotions, hostilities and other negative thoughts.I am still having the recurring dreams and I find that the drug is interferring with my performance on the job.It is causing me to be somewhat confused and I get very frustrated and it is very noticible to others. It has caused me to be more paranoid and it exaggerates my negative feelings for others on the job.I don't like it and it scares me.I am going to take myself off of it tonight in hopes that the side effects will subside.I need my job and I can't go on feeling like this especially on the job. Also I have always had a fear of gaining weight and the stories that I have read here are enough to make me stop taking it and throw it down the toilet.

Had a steroid shot combo of Kenalog and something else for allergies about 3 years ago. Didn't make the association then about the deep indentations on my upper buttocks and the shot I had in that same area a few month earlier until I found this website. I just had another Kenalog shot (in my arm) for allergies about 5 weeks ago. Since then I've had two periods the second of which is dragging on and on. I was a bit panicked until I searched and found this website and another and found others who had the same symptoms. I called my primary doctor and they had no idea of this side effect. He said to come in for a follow up if my symptoms continue. Meanwhile, it is really stressing me out due to a family history of cancer. ******
