I got my mirena put in in nov of 07 after i had my son. i had really light periods after then i bleed for 1 day every 3 months til june of 08 when i bleed lightly for the whole month. then October of 08 they stopped completely and its been sooo great ! but now thats its june 09 my weight no matter how hard i try doesn't seem to go away i don't gain but i don't loose neither. I talk to some of my friends and they agree. Now i was told that its supposed to trick your body into believing your pregnant to make the periods go away but now im not sure but on the other hand i have sooo many pregnancy symptoms but i know im not... i got the wanna eat everything in site, bloating, peeing like crazy. yeast infections that spread up my stomach and when i get it to go away i get to enjoy sex and it comes right back. my friend took water pills and lost like 10 pounds, why would that happen and since a lot of personal issues are based on self image why do we have to deal? i just turned 23 yesterday and i have causal sex with my boyfriend, there are alternative methods that i wouldn't need the IUD.. Im so confused because i really like it but at the same time i have lower back pain, headaches, infections, acne, and sometimes a highly depressive state. now as for acne i took a womens vitamin and cleaned with a deep pore cleanser and that helped a lot. My Sex drive is throu the roof ! its like i cant get enough.. before its like it was a chore and now its i want it all the time. my weight don't change and i joined a gym so wheres my money going ya know. waking up with swollen fingers and hands knowing its all water weight makes me mad ... i don't wanna be subjected to water pills or an extreme diet. The insertion they told me to be on my period but i had just finished it... mine hurt like some cramping because my cervix is small. after i was fine, and my friend said it didn't hurt at all and she was on her period.. sometimes i can feel it during sex and so can my partner but i get some cramping and its over. sooo now im debating on what i want to do cause i would like to get my weight under control and actually feel motivated to do things which i don't anymore. I will make an apt with the doctor thou cause it seems it happens to a lot of people but is supposed to be normal or not caused by mirena ... huh whose not writing down the facts.

I suffered with huge patches of psoriasis on both elbows which continued to grow larger and larger for years. Numerous treatments of various creams and light therapy had absolutely no positive results on my problem. Then I found a doctor who injected some small amounts of Kenalog directly into the layers of my psoriasis, and FINALLY the psoriasis disappeared completely. It was a MIRACLE for me! My patches of psoriasis now normally remain in remission for about two years. When I notice them to slightly reappear, I got get another Kenalog injection to clear it up for another couple of years. I have never had any side effects with this procedure except for positive ones! My self image has improved, and I can now wear short sleeve shirts without anyone asking me "what's wrong with your elbows?". I think it's the best thing!

Lexapro is the only antidepressant I have been able to take without significant nausea. I tried zoloft, wellbutrin, cymbalta -- all with a lot of nausea that did not subside over time. With Lexapro I have no nausea. My sex drive is a little lower, but is right back to normal if I skip a pill. Of course, I don't skip more than one day in a row because of the Head Zaps. As others have noted on this site, the Head Zaps from withdrawal are crazy.
Any time I've gone off Lexapro I've eventually decided to go back on, because it works for me. Yes, my emotions are mildly muted, but not much and without Lexapro I'm a reactive basket case! Lexapro also takes care of my irritability. I have to say, my quality of life is much better with this drug -- it has a positive impact on my relationships, work-life, parenting, self-image, mood, anxiety, irritability. I also take Adderall -- this is the second time I've been on an ADD med -- the first was Concerta and I got off of that as soon as I could -- it definitely made my life much more manageable but I couldn't tolerate the "speediness": racing heart, hyper. Adderall has been MUCH better, positive effects without the drawbacks, and works well with my Lexapro.

I have been on nuvaring for about a year now. I am 23 and have used probably 4 diff types of BC. All of them start out great, including nuvaring. I loved it at first and did not have any bad side effects until about a month or two ago. I have had zero energy, a definite decrease in pleasure from life, i have no desire to even leave my house and when i do the smallest task becomes exhausting. I just feel apathetic towards everything. Nuvaring has also KILLED my sex drive. I don't even think about it, i have no desire ever, and it hurts when my bf and i try to have sex. The scariest part for me is that it has also taken away any desire to be touched at all by him. Even when he tried to cuddle me i would push him away. It also changed my feelings about him, i started to think i didn't like him anymore. Other side effects include: breast tenderness and swelling, irritability, moodiness, decrease in self esteem, change in self image, random vague lower abdominal pains, vaginal burning, swelling and discomfort. I took out the ring 3 days ago, i am done with it for good. Already i feel so much better! I feel lighter and happier, and i can already feel my sex drive coming back! I also am done with hormonal BC and am going to get a diaphragm, if that doesn't work than it is back to a copper iud for me!

I posted this question in the question section, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced hair pulling as a side effect. My 10 year old son has been on Singulair for about a year and 3 months ago he started pulling out his eyelashes and eyebrows as well as other body hair ( a disorder known as trichotillomania). He also has been talking about being sad, hating his life, etc. We are worried sick and his self esteem is taking a huge hit due to the hair pulling. He says he is a freak and he hates himself because he can't stop it. We took him off Singulair 2 days ago and are waiting to see if there are improvements in his behavior. Thanks.

I started to realize lately that I am constantly anxious. I worry about everything, and have begun not being able to sleep because of it. This is only my second cycle on yasmin, I started a little over a month and a half ago. I also have been completely unstable emotionally, and especially sensitive about self image issues. I don't know if this actually has to do with the yasmin, but before I was fairly self confident and now I always feel fat and ugly. Maybe I am just going through something, but it would be somewhat reassuring to know others experienced this as well. Thanks for any help. Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.

On zoloft for 7 months. Missed dose results in electric shock sensations all over body. These decreased after I resumed my dose but didn't disappear until 2 days after the missed dose.
Overall though it has been worth it. Lost 10 pounds without trying, which was great for self image, am eating and sleeping better and much better able to cope with stress. Feelings of hopelessness completely gone and no more crying.

I have been taking Zoloft for about six months now, and for the past six months I haven't had one menstrual period (this isn't unpleasant, but a little worrisome in its strangeness).

I am sixteen years old and I weigh 130 pounds. I take 200 mg of Zoloft (sertraline) every morning for depression. I am constantly in emotional turmoil internally, but I rarely have the motivation to express any of it, which leaves me a bottled-up mess.

I have gained about five pounds on Zoloft, and I exercise frequently and watch my diet in an attempt to avoid more gain. My emotions, ideals, thought patterns, and self image are all extremely volatile and they change constantly.

If I don't take Zoloft for one day, I feel slightly more energetic and I always have detailed, vivid dreams that night. If I don't take Zoloft for two days, I get a splitting headache, I am aggressive and histrionic, and I feel tense and hopeless. These disturbances are only slightly more unpleasant than how I feel when I take the medication; hence, I usually take it. However, if I gain one more pound while taking this, regardless of withdrawal effects, I will discontinue the Zoloft.
