(A divorced father)
My son has been on Singulair now 5 years and I am in the middle of fighting to get him off. My son is now 7 years old and has been diagnosed with allergies (no test have been done which I find very odd), which leads to a case of mild asthma. This past weekend his mother forgot his Singular on Friday so I could not give him any till the next day, where we met at his soccer game. Saturday night I gave him his usual pill and thankfully due to his exhaustion from playing out side all day he went to sleep in 10 min. vs 3 hrs later which is the norm since Singulair seems to jack him up.
He also has red puffiness under his eyes - most likely allergies.
Seems depressed - just driving down the road and I look at him in the rear view mirror and he just sits and stares into space. When I ask what's wrong he either says nothing or I am tired.
He will try to tell a story or think for himself and just stops mid sentence and says " never mind I am just confused"
He will be having fun one moment and just starts crying or gets depressed.
He was throwing a ball in the house (yes I know) and accidentally knocked a glass over breaking it - he went running to his room, crawled under his bed and sobbed profusely for over 30 min.
He has a hard time doing / focusing on homework - becomes bored very easily.
Does not want to go outside. I will take him to allot of cultural events/ hands on or participation events - he will not try anything. He is unsure and will not come out of his box so to speak.
I spoke with his doctor who was reluctant to take him off, but then agreed that if it was OK with the ex, to take him off for a week to see what happens.
The fun part: My ex is convinced that since he has been on Singulair for 5 years he is fine and does not need to come off it.
1.) Son is diagnosed with mild asthma or allergy induced asthma.
He has never had an allergy test done and has not had a lung function test in over a year.
2.) It is documented that our son has four outbreaks a year. (sounds like the changing of the seasons) but is given Singulair all year round and the dosage has also been increased.
3.) Since the court order, ordered my ex to enroll our son in sports (she would not let him play anything) he does not wheeze or cough uncontrollably.
4.) Since I had to battle to get our son on my insurance I have cut her control issues off a little, but she is refusing to take him off Singular just for a week to see how he reacts. Although I do agree that he should have some form of allergies medicine.
5.) When I found out about the side effects of Singulair, I also found that his doctor was getting ready to add two other allergy medicines to his portfolio - totaling 3 different meds.
I see our sons behavior getting worse and I watch him turn into something he is not and with a controlling individual not believing anything about the side effects it looks like I will have to rely on the medical system to prove my point. I do believe he needs to be accurately tested for allergies and given a regularly lung function test but most of all since he is now on my insurance, a second opinion and a 3rd to narrow down what the situation is and an alternative medical procedure that is fit for the symptoms.

I am just one more: moody, ansy, and of course weight gain. My OB told me that the wight gain was because it makes me hungrier and to watch what I eat. BS. I don't like fast food, I don't eat after 6 PM, I don't snack between meals. I am calling him tomorrow. Mirena is coming out.
The funny thing is I am having all this simtoms and never thought of been coming from my IUD. I have to say I have it for almost 3 years and only had two periods, I love that. But its no worthy, my hubby is happier than me that I came to my senses.
I really appreciate all you ladies and husbands comments. Thank you God for putting me in this site.

Does anyone else notice a highly increased appetite with Lexapro? I think that it is a good antidepressant drug, but at what cost? I think most of these newer, cleaner, drugs for depression are causing to much of an increased appetite which causes a large weight gain.

My mother was prescribed this drug for the pain associated with Shinges. The doctor prescribed 1 to 2 tablets every four hours. My mother is 89 years old and was in much pain. Shortyly after taking this medication she began hallucinating seeing building, flowers on the wall and people in her room. I was never able to tell if she was dreaming in her sleep or just high on the drug itself. But when fully awake she was confused about almost everything. She got her Doctors mixed up, her heart medication and other drugs were either not taken or taken too often, and her ability to do such things as operate the tv remote or the wireless telephone was so confusing she couldn't use them. Beware of this drug for the elderly, especially if they live alone. It did help with the pain but she now says she would rather have the pain than what the drug Propoxy did to her senses for almost two weeks. Oh, she even cut the dosage to a half pill every four hours but the results I just described were the same. It took her a long time to get back to normal. She is now taking acylovir for the shingles and seems much better.

READ THIS!!! 5 YEARS OF ADDERALL ----I dont really know why I am doing this, because I am not really sure how often this website even gets looked at - but the danger of adderall is something that needs to be talked about.. I am a female, and am going to be a senior in college this year, and have taken adderall for 5 years. I take 30 mg a day, and throughout those 5 years I have gone about 3 weeks TOTAL of not taking the drug. In the beginning I thought adderall was the best thing in the world. I was diagnosed with ADHD - but it wasnt that severe, I was always a very energetic kid and was always happy and healthy. I did fairly well in school, but the doctor thought adderall would help me more. When I took adderall for the first time, all of my senses were hightened, everything was SOOO wonderful - so much easier, focusing in class, doing homework - adderall, really, is just a pill that gives you motivation and makes you feel like you could accomplish ANYTHING - sounds great right? Well 5 years later, I have realized now that I am so screwed. I have tried cutting back, but I cant.. I am SO dependant on it, and CAN NOT function whatsoever without it. I cant even get out of bed, or hold my arm in the air without taking it.. I am so weak, I feel like my normal self(without adderall) is like a vegitable. I feel like I have no desire to do ANYTHING, i just want to lay in bed all day and sleep. But when I take it in the morning, my heart POUNDS in my chest, my mouth is so dry, i get headaches, and my eyes feel like they are fuzzy - but i still cant stop taking it. I am 100% addicted, and I hate it. I am trying my hardest to cut down because eventually I want this to be out of my system.. Adderal replaces your brains natural ability to motivate, it replaces all the natural ways that your brain works to produce happiness, it trains your brain to work ONLY when the drug is present - and the longer you take the drug, the less of a chance your brain has to ever function normally by itself..Anyway, the point is - if you or your child is thinking about taking adderall - really evaluate their degree of ADD or ADHD, because if it is not too bad then DONT TAKE IT - its not worth it!!.. OR if your child REALLLLY does need it, make sure they take it only when it is important - for school, and not on the weekends - make sure it doesnt become a routine thing where he/she takes it eveyday.. ok, thats it...

I only took Advair for about 3 days about 3 weeks ago. Since then, my senses of smell and taste have almost gone away. I can taste salt & sweet, but not much else. I also have that chemical bad taste in my mouth. Things got better for awhile, but yesterday they came back strong.
How long does this stuff last in your body?

Why I didn't check this forum before getting this medication. I was on it for 3 days (since it did not do anything I stopped). Was prescribed with antibiotics ZITHROMAX.
The next day after I started the treatment, Ilost my senses of smell and taste completely and it's been almost a week and they have not come back yet. This is driving me crazy. Was not able to sleep either during the treatment.
This is the worst drug so far.

Following an op on 12th Sept I was given a self administered morphine pump, (Safe measured doses??). Within 6 hours I was experiencing extremly dry mouth, and De-jevous (I knew what was going to be said or done before it happened.)Then the most terrifying hallucinations. My senses were wide open. I could hear every conversation in the ward and outside all at once and it was all going on in MY head. The smell of flowers at the other end of the ward was overpowing.
Along with this came hot and cold sweats even though my temp and pulse were normal. I had the shakes and was VERY confused and frightened and became paranoid. I ripped out all my tubes and phoned the police to say they were trying to kill me. The hallucinations lasted about 4/5 days and the rest about 3 weeks. All this was made worse by the fact that neither Docs or nurses accepted all I was going through. I had no sympathy understanding, counselling and was expected for the most part to look after myself.
I now have post traumatic stress due to how I was treated in hospital during this personal crisis.

I have been experiencing multible side effects loss of speech, word loss, memory loss, twitching of facial muscles around mouth, eyes, nose itching, facial skin feeling like it is moving and crawling. I need people to repeat information to me several times before I get things yet some other senses seem to be improving. I having serious problem with blurring vision I see no one has noted this problem and was wondering if it would go away too or would it do permanent damage? I am not losing weight from taking this medication either but I only take 100mgs afraid of an increase because of the blurred vision.

Last spring I was given Zpak for flu/cold syptoms. I finished the first package and still experienced the same syptoms and discomfort with breathing. The doctor had given me a prescription for 2 paks and instructed me to have it filled. Because from her experience sometimes a second pak would be needed. The side effects that I have and still having is the lost of taste and smell. I can only differentiate whether something is sweet, sour, spicy or tart but I cannot give discern if its smell. I cannot smell fragrances, or smoke. I can taste the aspertane in sodas, but cannot tell the flavors of soda. I can smell the chemical that binds the soaps, lotion or perfumes. I also have had the experience of going to an ENT and guess what he also prescribed the Zpak for the congestion and fluid that I have been experiencing in my ears. I am very frighten regarding the loss of my senses of taste but the most frightening thing is the lost of smell. I cannot leave a pot on to boil without watching it now. A pan boiled dry and thank godness for smoke alarms. I so perplex with all of this. I've been dealing with this for almost a year now and still no sign of being able to smell or taste in site. I'm not a smoker and have had no other reasons for this to linger.
So what can I expect? Will my senses of taste and smell ever return? This is very heart wrenching and frightening. Since I alone most of the time.

My husband was prescribed 40mg of this drug 2 years back, for his high cholesterol reading. He is an ex-services and has always been extremely fit, he was tired for almost a year, then he began having headaches to the point he had a brain scan, because he thought he had a tumor. He also has had knee and neck joint problems and now the joints of his fingers are giving him pain He now wakes up each morning feels really ill and feels as though hes being strangled, the sensation lasts sometime for hours and he has to lie down. His doctor said it was blood pressure but he keeps a monitor and his pressure has been normal. His doctor said he should continue to take it, but when you read all the symptoms that people are getting while taking this drug it makes you realize they are all just guinea pigs for a large scale trial of the drug
