Wow, I'm so glad I found this site!
I was diagnosed with pleurisy 2 and a half weeks ago following a virus, a few weeks before, so naturally, as my asthma nurse has always told me, I've doubled up my Advair (or Seretide as it's called here in the UK!) for that entire time.
Previously I was taking one puff once a day in an evening which I never had any problems or side effects with, it just controlled my asthma really well. Now I'm taking 2 puffs twice a day (morning and night) and for a few days now I've been having terrible joint pains in my hands, feet, elbows and knees. Have been searching the internet for what it could be and think I might have found the answer! Hopefully if I decrease my meds back down the pain will improve!
Like a lot of people on here, though, I was NEVER told about any potential side effects to Seretide, just that it was a wonder drug.

This drug has not been properly examined in clinical trials. I will gladly suffer with allergies rather than suffer from anxiety and panic attacks caused by Singulair. It may be beneficial to some people, but not to me. Never again, Singulair.

I have been taking singular for just over 6 months. My symptoms are similar to the ones listed on the web site such as confusion, lack of concentration, anxiety, restlessness. The most noticable side effect is my lack of sex drive. I am 33 years old and had no such problems before. My partner suggested i stop taking the drug and since I stopped all my symptoms have vanished. We have been trying for a baby and now I am worried that if pregnant the singular might have some negitive effects on the baby. Does anybody have any information on how long it stays in the body ?
I now take Seretide 250 and it has changed my life for the better. I have been an asthmatic all my life and have never had such amazing relief from asthma since i started taking seretide. I now very rarely take my ventolin (sabutamol) inhaler and i do not feel i have to carry it around with me anymore. Doctors are too quick to administer drugs, my doctor told me singular was a clean drug !! Not when I was taking it !!!

I have been using Seretide (Advair) for around 6 months and like a lot of you thought the drug was wonderful with how it was controlling my Asthma. I am usually a fit and well person but over the last couple of weeks have been feeling so tired and lethargic, even the smallest task wiping me out. I thought nothing of it really, just stresses and strains of modern life. Then I started to get frequent palpitations and every time I fell asleep my heart would miss a beat and I would wake up. This would last a couple of hours and obviously over a matter of weeks I was getting more and more exhausted. I talked to my Doctor and she said that Seretide could cause abnormal heart rythyms, and along with the frequent oral thrush and dry mouth I have decided to give up on Seretide, hope it hasn't done any long term damage and resolve to using my salbutamol more often. It was great to find this site and discover that these side effects are not uncommon amongst others.

Thank goodness for this site !

I am a 36 male living in Australia and was prescribed Advair(Seretide) 4 weeks ago to treat a asthma induced cough.
About a year ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and have scheduled visits to a cardiologist, the next one in a few weeks for an echocardiogram and follow up.

About 2 weeks after starting Advair I started having the following side effects:

Racing heart beart, dizziness & feeling faint, waking up with tingling in my hands at night, inability to sleep at night, anxiety/ nervousness.

Further side effects developed over the last few weeks:
hoarse, need to swallow, extreme anxiety and feelimg panicky.

Initially I put the symptoms down to stress and concern over the impending cardiologist visits.
But the situation worsened to the extent that last week I felt extreme distress at going to work.
I went to my GP who put it down to stress and referred to a pyschologist.
This site has been such a relief - thanks
