Hi, ladies. I have been on and off birth control for nearly 8 yrs now. I am 26. I started when i was 17 d/t very heavy menstrual bleeding and cramps. I've been on several different kinds. I just started Yasmin (actually the generic) 3 days ago and have decided to come off of it already. After reading some of your comments I have def decided I'm going to take a break from the pills. I have experienced severe depression and anxiety within the past two days and my heart racing really rapidly. I have mitral valve prolapse and was surprised my nurse practitioner prescribed this for me. I have also been very sleepy. Not sure if this is one of the side effects or not. But please be careful to all of you out there when choosing birth controls. I've decided to take my chances w/ the cramps and just suck it up. No medicine is worth causing your body harm. I don't recommend Yaz or Yasmin to anyone!

I am 24 and have taken several different kinds of birth control. I wanted to switch to something with the least amount of hormones or side effects but this stuff is horrible. I keep thinking I'm pregnant because my boobs are giant and constantly sore, I'm a total crazy bitch and I feel like I'm going to yack all the time. I'm definitely switching to something else. This stuff is ruining my body.

I have been on birth control since I was 16 due to severe cramps during that time of the month. I have been on several different kinds. They placed me on Yasmin about 3 yrs ago. I thought that was the best one that I had ever been on until I went off of it. I have been off of Yasmin for about 2 1/2 months, since then I have developed anxiety, panic attacks, depression, with racing thoughts. I have contacted my OBGYN who said that this would not be a side effect. I have to say that everyone's body is different. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced any of these symptoms and if so how long will I feel like this?

This is for all of you out there that are not sure if this is for you or not. I have been on several different kinds of bc pills and I have to say this one is the best one ever. I don't even need to be on the pill, I had my tubes tied after my twins were born (4 children) and I wanted to be back on the pill to regulate my hormones, because I didn't like myself, I was very moody and severe pms. I had one doc put me on antidepressants. Didn't work. I can tell everyone you do need to let this pill as with any pill or medication adjust to your body and eveybody adjusts differently. I have been on it for 2 1/2 months and I feel like a new person. Yes, I do have some nausea, so I take it at nightime. I had an extremely bad headache for the first week as with all the meds I take. My sex drive is better for the first time ever being on a pill. Tender breasts for the first 1 1/2 and I have had this problem for the past 20 years, very very bad and for the first time I can actually say that is pretty good. I have had a little spotting in the second month nothing to bad though. Yes I still get a little moody before my period, however I am a woman and there are no miracle drugs to totally eliminate that. I don't normally write on these sites however, I think everyone should give them self time to adjust to meds (3 months) before giving up. Hang in there and there is one out there that will work for you.

Please post this on your site for Yasmin side effects.
Thank you for your site. I've been informed my reading it.
I've taken Yasmin for 3 months. Initially had mild nausea taking the pills but solved that by cutting pills in half, and taking half in the morning and the other half with dinner.
However, I haven't been able to solve my SEVERE THIGH and LEG MUSCLE CRAMPS that initially occured daily and particularly nightly. Just like a 'charley horse'. Now I have these only once every 3 days, but it is very annoying and painful to be jumping around on my leg or trying to stretch my thigh, or hamstring, or shin muscle out.
I've read that Yasmin is unique in having a diuretic component to it. Has anyone else experienced these severe skeletal muscle cramps (not uterine or period type cramps)?
If so, have you found any supplements that help, such as Potassium, Calcium, or Magnesium. Please write me at ****** if you have info.
My history is I'm a 50 y/o female with slight anemia from heavy periods placed on Yasmin to control this. I'm a vegetarian who has never had problems in the past taking several different kinds of OCPs including Loestrin. I take no other prescriptions medications or supplements. I have never had skeletal cramps other than maybe once a year prior to taking Yasmin.
Thank you

Hi everyone, I am Meg-
Just wanted to let you know about me, I started taking Yaz this week, I have only taken 5 pills. I have nausea, dizziness, I am sluggish, depressed, week and feel like I am on drugs. I called the doctor and they took me off of it right away. They said they haven't heard of these symptoms in this before but they were going to make a note of it and told me to stop taking it immediately.
I am 32 years old, I have an 8-month old and I was on the pill (Levlin 28) for 10 years before I got off so my husband and I could concieve. Before that, I was on the pill off and on starting at age 16 due to a medical condition called Menorhagia. So I have taken several different kinds and I threw up with a few at first and had to keep trying until I found one that I was ok with. I have never had these other symtoms with any of them before. Thanks for all your comments, it really helped me to think twice as I was having these symptoms, as soon as I read your comments I called my doctor immediately so I just wanted to thank you so much, you all may have saved me years of pain or trouble.
Thanks again
Sincerely,
Meg

On Dec 18, 2008 my 18 yrs old received her 3rd shot. No problems until then. She has had a skin rash for over 3 months now. They first said it was a virus, then pityriasis rosea, eczema, and after a skin bio the diagnosis includes an arthropod bite reaction and urticarial hypersensitivity reaction to a drug. For 3 months I've been asking if it might be the gardasil and they keep saying NO. She's had every type of cream, some costing $90 and now on predisone. They also thought it might be scabies. The rash has looked like several different kinds of rashes. But still she itches all the time and has had a more severe rash in her private areas. It seems like the rash is always changing. So far that's been the only problem, unlike some of what I've read. I'm only praying that nothing else happens. They also said that living in a dorm could have bugs and that's where the bite would come from. But she had been living in the dorm for 3 months, came home, received her 3rd shot and now we have been to the dr. several times a month trying to relieve her itching and rash.
Has anyone else had just the rash??
