I started taking Lisinpril about three weeks ago. Doctor prescribed 40 mg twice per day. After about a week, I developed a severe case of diarrhea but no other illness. Other than that, I felt good. It almost cleared up in about a week. But soon, it got worse. I was having to go to the bathroom about every 30 minutes. Very, very loose stool and gas. After aboout 2 1/2 weeks, I had to get off the drug after finding this web site and all the side effects. I soon developed severe abdominal cramps n adition to the diarrhea and general flu like symptons. Its been three days after getting off the drug, I'm to sick to go to work today and I have a doctors appt. tomorow morning. I'm a 55 yr.old male with good health except for some elevated high BP. I have not doubt my side effects are caused by the lisinopril. To many of us, this is bad stuff. Its been years since I have been this sick. I plan to let FDA know of my side effects and I would encourage you to do the same. Bad Stuff. glen

I took one capsule of this medication at 2:00pm on 12/12/07 and about twenty minutes after taking this medication I began to feel nauseous, than I went and ate something about one hour later just a piece of toast. About ten minutes of eating I began to throw up and started having a headache, so I just kept going not really thinking about it, because the side effect do say headache may occur so I continue my day, about 1 hour and 30 minutes after regurgitating my head was hurting so severely that my eyes was watering and pulse could be heard through my ears, like a drum beating. I then became dizzy and things seemed to get blurred so I laid down and about 10 minutes in laying down my mouth began to fill with thick mucus almost like cotton in my mouth, began to be extremely thirsty so I got up and got water, to throw it back up. I then began to feel my jaw tightening up feeling like I was getting lock jaw. I then called my doctor office and talked to a triage nurse who then called a doctor and called me back and told me not to take any more of the medication and to take 50mg of Beneadryl because of a allergic reaction to the medication, but I am also allergic to PCN and ASA so she said it is rare for people to have an allergic reaction to this medication. Now my symptoms was not over that night I could not sleep, I also had bad dreams, severe night sweats, and nauseous that morning. I started having lower abdominal cramps, and still having problems sleeping, and sometimes I feel like crying and for no reason. Today is 12/20/07 and I still am having severe abdominal cramps, still nauseous in the mornings, no headaches or cotton mouth but the stomach cramps have not yet left and I only took one capsule, today makes a week, tomorrow is my doctor apt. hopefully I can get something to help me out but this is my story about this mess up drug.

So I've been on Yasmin for about a year. I have experienced weight gain, and recently (I went off of it and then back on), severe abdominal cramps. I have also been incredibly depressed since I started taking it. If anyone else has experienced the weight gain, did your weight regulate when you got off of the pill? What about the other side effects?

I've taken topamax for approximately five weeks. I had experienced migraines at least twice weekly for more than fifty years, so it's been remarkable that I have been migraine free for more than a month. My biggest side effect has been abdominal pain. I wasn't given any education about side effects, and I was really worried when I began to suffer severe, really severe abdominal cramps about two weeks ago. I didn't have a clue about a connection between the medication and my tum until I went to Patient First one night in terrible pain and was asked if I were on any meds. When I got home, I got online, and realized that the tingling in my feet, and my memory lapses were all side effects. I've been in such a euphoric state because I haven't had a migraine, that I've ignored anything negative that's been happening. Would I stop taking Topamax because of the side effects? Not unless they become much worse - I can live with them - the migaines were far more dibilitating. It wasn't that long ago that I would be lying in a darkened room with my head throbbing, every sound was magnified and even a dim light pierced my eyes with pain. Shots of Demeraol and Imitrex were only temporary and didn't always work so tingles, and memory failiings and even tummy cramps are nothing by comparison!

Hi everyone, so glad to find this website. I am a 28 year old mother of 2 and married. I really need some help. I am so scared of being committed in an institution. I was on Aleese for 2 1/2 years and then switched to Yasmin. I was on Yasmin almost 2 months but could not finish it. First severe abdominal cramps started with constipation, then frequent urination, like every half hour. Then the real nightmare happend. The severe anxiety and depression. For the first time in my entire life I was not able to sleep. I had total insomnia due to bad muscle aches and body jerking. I have been off for 3 wks exactly and still have the body jerking everytime I try to fall asleep. I never had anything like this before. The only time I can sleep is when I take Xanax which was prescribed for me after taking Yasmin. Now I keep thinking I am dying of something horrible like a brain tumor. I lost 4lbs which is not good. I was only 94lbs to begin with. The anxiety is so bad, I can't even function. I feel awful. I went to a Chropractor for the first time yesterday and he can't believe how tight my muscles are. What in the world could be causing these sleep jerks at night. I never ever had anything wrong with me. All of these symptoms started within a week of taking Yasmin. I am so angry. I am on no b/c pills now. Is it normal to have all of these side effects? What about the muscle jerking at night. I am so scared. I can't even take care of my kids. My health has just been declining in the last 2 months. I am so afraid I will not get through this. any help would be greatly appreciated

Started Cipro 3 days ago and had severe abdominal cramps a couple hours after my morning dose yesterday. Didn't associate the two. After a couple of hours the pain subsided.
Later that night, I took my evening dose and within 2 hours the severe pain came back even worse than earlier . I almost went to the emergency room. It was as bad as labor contractions.
Pain lasted about 5 hours. Did not take my dose this morning and no pain (just tenderness from yesterday)

Mother was on prednisone for temporal arteritis. Started with 120mg. Had severe abdominal cramps with vomiting. She had heart problems, on warfarin and many other drugs. Doctor was aware of all of this. Tried to wean off medication.
My dad found her in the bathroom after suffering another bout of severe pain. She left us on May 3rd. at the age of 76.
Please be careful. This drug kills.

Oh My Gosh - as I sit here with abdominal cramps typing my experience - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I started taking Lisinopril in late April 2008. On May 2 I had severe abdominal cramps and massive vomiting for 8 hours. Finally got myself to ER after I sent my family on to our vacation (I joined 2 days later). The ER attributed it to food poisoning. Lo and behold, I had another "attack" on May 9th. Back to ER I went (my husband witnessed my attack and insisted I go). They took X-rays and MRI - found intestinal inflammation but didn't know why. My internest send me to gastro dr. Third attack hit on June 5th and gastro doctor sent me to major hospital ER. They, too, did MRI & blood work. Looked at gall bladder, pancreas, stomach, intestines, etc. They found intestinal inflammation. Gastro Dr. took more blood and did more test (CT, MRI, Colonoscopy, Endoscopy). He couldn't find anything so he sent me to rheumatologist. She did add'l blood work and genetic testing. She though I had an auto-immune disorder - like Mediterranean Familial Fever! Please...! But all her tests came back negative. She too had no answers, only treatment for symptoms - Colchicine and Prednisone. Yuk. After having my 8th debilitating attack yesterday (since May), I've had enough. I went to the Web and found this wonderful site - along with some others with helpful info. I don't have confirmation that the lisinopril is causing this - but it sure sounds like it. I am a 49 yr old female and I've had no "life changing" events in my life (except for this nastiness) and have been on no other meds. I find it interesting that out of all the doctors I've seen - and all knew of the lisinopril - that none suspected this as a side effect.
