My 84 year old who is in a nursing home was recently prescribed Lisinopril for BP. He is also suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, Alzheimer, as well as stomach ulcers. He has been severely dehydrated, does not sleep well at night, very fidgety, and has become more confused. He is now close to renal failure and the doctor says it's because of the drug. In many of these comments, I find that the drug is sometimes prescribed for kidney disease. I believe that this drug generic or not should be taken off the market. I feel that doctors are experimenting with some patients just to see what side effects with patients.

Hi there!
I have to say, I am so happy that I have found this website. I feel like I'm crazy!! I have been taking Yasmin for a little over a year or so and within the past two month I have noticed significant stress, anxiety, depression (which I have NEVER experienced in my life). Although, over the past year I have noticed I have been tired, overall low energy, and snappy for no reason. Really high strung. I never knew why.

I do have to ask though, those of you who have stopped taking, or switched from Yasmin...have you noticed a shift in mood for the better? Have you noticed a difference in depression? I am planning to make an appointment for my OB/GYN tomorrow to get off this pill. I just want some hope that things will indeed get better, you know??

I think FEMCON is a good pill compared to a lot of others. (I have no cramps, no weight gain, regular period, etc) But I have been struggling with severely vivid and scary dreams. I wake up hot, and I cannot get comfortable in bed for the life of me. I have NO sex drive at all. I am highly irritable and moody. My boyfriend has deemed me the grumpiest person ever. But, I don't want to blame the pill off the bat. I have been on it for a year and haven't had as many problems mentally until recently. I used to get a lot of headaches, but those have gone away. So I don't know what to think about it all. I don't like being on any sort of body chemical altering pill, but I'm not ready for a baby, either. I really want to get off so I can see if I'm just really stressed, or if the pill is playing a role in everything I have been experiencing.

I've been on some form of Paxil for about 9 years now. Overall, it has been fantastic. My anxiety is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. The only time I've had any trouble with it is if I go off it for a couple of days. The withdrawal is terrible. I get very jittery and shaky and the stomach aches I used to get before I went on this drug come back. I've tried going off it before, but have only manage to get down to 20mgs, which is where I am now. Any lower and I get withdrawal.

Paxil CR, on the other hand, was a bad idea all together. My doctor tried to switch me to that several years ago, and it was not a good experience. I became severely depressed and started having suicidal thoughts. Needless to say, I was put back on regular Paxil and everything went back to normal.

lots of posts on headaches and muscle spasms, saw some reports of stomach issues, my question is, "Has anyone experienced if you stop taking the pill or miss a day, you feel as if someone gave you a benedryl or tylenol pm. Severely groggy, almost drunk like, severe exhaustion for about 2 or 3 days any idea why its so intense?"

All I can say is WOW!!!! I started taking Yasmin to lighten my menstrual cycle. I was severely anemic and had heavy cycles due to fibroid tumors. I was not sexually active but my doctor decided to have me start taking BCP's to regulate my cycle. Everything went fine for the first few months. But the last two months I've been feeling depressed and crying and I had no idea depression was a side effect. Also, I am starting my actual flow on day 18 of the pill pack. My past experience with BCP was Ortho Novum and my flow started about 2 days after the last active pill. Now it's before I finish the pills and last for about eight days. This just started during the last two months.

The last two months as well I've been feeling depressed, and crying....which I never do. When I researched yasmin, I didn't see depression as a side effect. If I did, I ignored it because I have taken meds without any problems in the past. I wonder if anyone has had a problem with the "irregular" menstrual cycle.

Do Not Take YASMIN. I do not want any other woman having to go through what I have and by the sounds of it, hundreds- thousands of you already have. I, like many of you was a bubbly, warm and happy person who loved life and with the addition of YASMIN a SEVERELY debilitating depression followed. I never stopped crying. I woke up crying, I went to bed crying. Anything at all would start rivers of tears that never stopped. I was ridden with excruciating panic attacks on a constant basis and almost drove myself to the hospital about 3 times a week. Heart palpitations, or what felt like that, were not unusual and my heart was constantly racing. So fast that I felt constantlyyyy anxious. I was not myself. I knew my true self, and this was not it... so what did I do? STOPPED TAKING IT.. immediately. just one day i threw the rest of the cycle in the trash and I have not looked back since. YASMIN is what is causing these same symptoms in you and you can get back to your normal self with just one.. easy.. step. ENDING your attachment to it. Good luck to everyone, just be strong, you'll be alright.

Six years ago used Vivelle and gained 15 lbs. Went off and lost the weight. Have had severe night sweats, so I tried .05 mg Vivelle. Within 24 hours I could hardly get my wedding ring off and my abdomen was severely bloated. Took off the patch. It's not worth it.

I am a 19-year-old female pre-med student who has been taking this nasty drug for exacly 1 year now.... The amount I am on continues to change, for my disease keeps returning and leaving remission. I finally get down to 10mg from 40mg, and have to go back up when symptoms return!!! This is SO discouraging. The worst part is, no one understands the physical and emotional agony this drug brings on. I'm 19 and feel like I'm 90. My body aches, my weight is constantly fluctuating, I bruise from simply being poked (being a clumsy person, I look like I am beat!!), my bones feel as if they are about to break, and I am SEVERELY despressed. Being in college and taking rigorous classes, this is just too much for me to handle anymore... My 5-year relationship with the love of my life/best friend is falling apart because of my horrible mood swings.. don't blame him for leaving. I feel as if this drug has ruined my life more than the disease itself...Does ANYONE know if one's body and mind returns to "normal" after FINALLY being off this drug??? I pray to God the answer is yes... I would appreciate someone's reply and/or insight, because my Dr. fails to tell me about ANY side effects until I mention something. PLEASE REPLY!!!

This is one of the worst things I have ever taken. I took three doses for a skin infection and stopped. After taking the first one I felt extremely tired... then my limbs began to ache, I felt like my bones were replaced with lead and my head was spinning. Every time I tried to lay down and rest I was overcome with nausea and dizziness severely. I could not focus on anything or complete simple tasks without being fatigued and needing to rest. Later that night came the panic attacks or should I say a three hour long perpetual panic attack. I really thought I was going to die. Fortunatel(unfortunately) I had a few panic attacks back in college so I knew what I was experiencing was only a panic attack but it was one of the worst I've ever had.
I would not recommend anyone take this drug unless their lives literally depend on it, it's HORRIBLE.

Thank you to all of your courageous women who have posted your experiences with Mirena. I'm so glad to know that I'm not alone.
I've had my Mirena IUD since September 2002 (5 years) and it's been a nightmare.
I've experienced extreme mood swings as many of you have mentioned. I don't even like who I am anymore. I didn't gain much weight but I have severe cramping, spotting for weeks at a time and the worst temper tantrums. My sex drive increased (ten fold) but was painful at times due to Mirena. My partner could feel the strings and I had to go back to the doctor to have them cut. Now he only feels them in certain positions. If he even comes close to my cervix - it's the worst pain and brings on cramping (again). I went to my obgyn but was told that as we age our hormone levels drop severely and that's why I have mood swings. She recommended that I take prozac to help me cope. She denied that it had anything to do with the IUD. I thought I was going crazy - I have all of you to thank for helping me understand that it's not in my mind - it's in my cervix.
I'm having it removed later this month but fear for what other options are available to women for birth control.

I am a 23 yr old mother of one. I have severe endometriosis and I let my doctor talk me into taking the LUPRON injection, without researching it first. My first week on the shot I started shaking severely and was always sick to my stomach. I now am in the second month of my first dose and I have no appetite what-so-ever, I am losing my hair, I swell in my knees, ankles, and stomach, I have severe mood swings, I am forgetful, and I only get about 4 hours of sleep a night (if that). Most days I hurt in the bend of my legs at the groin area and am unable to get off of the couch to play with my 3 yr old little boy. I now have to buy my clothes a size larger than what I wear because of all the swelling. Sometimes I shake so bad that I can't hold anything in my hands or even walk straight.

My daughter was on Yasmin for approx 3 years for painful periods. Over the past year she has become severely depressed, angry and just a horrible person to live with. I noticed that on the final week of the pills, the placebo week, she was her old self and put two and two together and made her stop taking Yasmin. She is now back to her happy self, no longer depressed and looking forward to her life. She had informed her doctor of the depression but she never attributed it to the Yasmin and instead referred her to a psychologist, which she never followed through with. Doctors don't know or care to really look into side effects properly. Do not take this drug...it almost killed my daughter!!

I had a stye/ staff infection in my right eye. It was swollen and severely hurting me. Well, my doctor put me on sulfameth and a eyedrop antibiotic. I don't mind taking the eye drops, but these pills are making me feel horrible. I am on 1 pill twice daily for 10 days. I asked the doctor and the pharmacist if this stuff causes constipation and they both said no. Well, I haven't been able to use the bathroom well since I started it. My muscles twitch, my eyes are sensitive to the sunlight, I can't go to sleep easily, I've been itching up a storm, and I have headaches. I want to just stop the medication but if I do then I will never get rid of this infection in my eye. I figured I'd stop the meds in the middle of the week. I hate feeling bloated and constipated. Has anyone else had the constipation effect?

I began taking inderal to prevent migraines. I became severely depressed, and would cry about everything. I even cried when my husband made me dinner! I was angry about everything and couldn't control my moods at all. I never associated it with the medicine. I ran out and didn't get to the drug store, and within 3 days of being off the medicine, I was much better! Please

I had mirena put in 15 months ago. This was 3 months after my son was born and before I had a period. Haven't had a period since. I thought this was great and a constant form of birth control. I have a SEVERELY decreased sex drive that has ruined my relationship. I have SEVERE anxiety and depression I never had before. I am now starting to get abdomenal pains. I just realized TODAY that this might be Mirena, and started doing research. My doctor told me next to no side affects, and what was weight gain and acne (didn't get either). After reading this site I AM getting it out in an emergency appointment tomarrow, because I am freaked out that this thing is causing all these problems! I was worried something was seriously wrong with me and my head! You do not know how much of a relief it is to know it's this THING inside me, even though it's so incredibly creepy. Back to Alesse for me!

I began Lamictal in Jan 07. About a week after I began it I noticed excess production of phlegm. I mean crazy phlegm production to the point I needed to spit every few minutes. I also noticed that I began to have difficulty breathing at times. I had no rash.
In February I developed a fever, chills, shortness of breath, severe fatigue and severe leg cramping in both legs. I thought I was having a heart attack it was so bad. I went off the drug and the symptoms subsided however now I am severely fatigued at times and my breathing is still not quite the same as it was prior to the medication.

my partner went on nuvaring about two and a half weeks ago. since then she has become severely depressed and lethargic. we had chalked it up to unhappiness at work and some emotional disappointments with her family, but after reading this we have become convinced that the nr is a major part of the issue. she just took it out and we hope that tomorrow she will wake up and notice a difference. also, although she does suffer from migraines, they were more or less under control until the past week. she has had headaches everyday and has had to take imitrex for them. she has been nauseous and has also had problems sleeping. she also cries alot. she is not normally a depressed person. in fact, she is normally really positive. this is a horrible drug. does anyone know of a good option for regulating menstrual cycles? she is not on this for bc, just to regulate her cycle. any advice is welcomed. thanks.

I took Omnicef because my doctor was not sure what kind of infection I had and he said Omnicef was a "well-rounded" drug. Meaning it deals w/all types of infections.
I had HORRIBLE headaches with this medicine. Completely opposite of everyone I've read on this site, I had constipation (where everyone else had diarrhea.) I also ended-up getting an intestinal yeast infection...Awful! My constipation & yeast infection eventually got so bad (no matter what I took for it) that I ended-up with (how embarrassing) a fischer. For those of you that do not know, that is a tear in the hole of your rear-end. It was severely painful and despite what I have taken to loosen my stool, I continue to have the awful tear to this day. (1 year after taking the medicine.) I went to gastro-entronologist and he said the only way to fix it (if not by laxitives) is by surgery. I'm hoping my injury will eventually heal by taking various laxitive stimulants.
I would not reccomend this drug to ANYONE!
Sorry for the gross details, but they need to be told to explain the extent of the injuries...

I've been on Loestrin for about two weeks now. I switched from another pill that was causing me to be severely depressed. I had about one week of bliss on Loestrin before I started to get extremely angry very easily. I've never had many problems with acne, but my face has been more oily than normal. Also, I'm experiencing a lot of breakthrough bleeding.

This is a nightmare. I have been on Lamictal 200 mg, tab in morning, for approx. 5 months. About 3 1/2 months ago I started getting muscles aches and weakness, muscle overuse problems, fluid retention ( like 12 pounds), stayed in a trance with very little short term memory. Thought it was everything but this medicine....I am an avid athelite, yes, even at 51. So, I blamed myself for not slowing down. Quick exercising totally, for 2 months, iced 3 times a day on leg muscles. Finally after making it to the summer without a mental breakdown, I went to the emergency room and a new internist to get checked out. Blood work, thyroid, hormones,ok.... Really don't care what they think , I can not walk, it hurts like hell. The Dr. did tell me to get off Lamictal....ok 7th day and I have some relief but it is not complete. Called manufactures, interesting, yes- these are side effects!!! But the studies are limited. Listen , unless you have seizures, get off this medicine... you read the full disclosure of side effects and then search yourself......It can ba a huge FOOOOOPA.....And you are the fool that will end up holdling the bag, not the manufacturer. Hopefully I will get better. Right now , I just trying to stay calm.

I took this pill for 2 years. Soon after starting I became severely depressed. I was hospitalized for depression twice while on this drug, and began self mutilating. My mom heard from a coworker that Yasmin causes depression, and she took me off the drug. Within two weeks I felt better. And I'm trying to get my life back on track. I am happier now than I can ever remember being. Now, even at my lowest points, I am still happier than I was for the two years I was taking Yasmin. I went from being an honor roll student, and now I am barely graduating. Please, if you are experiencing depression after taking this pill, take yourself off of it. Nothing is worth feeling like that.

I was on Nuva ring for 10 days. By day 5, I was severely depressed, crying daily, and having difficulty caring for my three young children. In addition, I was having dark bloody discharge after my period would have normally ended. I am certain that Nuva ring caused my symptoms and took it out. I can not believe that this bc is approved by the FDA. It is not worth it.
