Ok my experience on this dreaded Pill was not good at all . It turned me into the most aggressive person ever. I mean to the point where people had to sit me down and say you cant act or behave like this???
what is going on?
And for my sex life well it was none existent!!! my poor boyfriend i was always dry had to get help with getting moist. i was always anxious and on edge the whole time.

its only know that i have come off it, and its been a month now i feel like myself at last!!!

Girls stay away from this pill. if there is anyone reading this that has also stopped could you get in touch would like to know how you are feeling? i.e. side effects of stopping.

Hello everyone, I just had the Mirena inserted on Monday, Jan 25 at 4:00 pm. I'll have to say, the procedure to me was terrible. First, I'll have to say I was on the Depo Provera injection for 10 years with out one menses. I loved it. I also took extra calcium because of the side effect for waking in the bones. I really wanted to continue the shot, but my physician said that he recommended that I stop the shot and have a ablation. So he made an appointment for me to see a GYN for further recommendations. He recommended the Mirena. Now, keep in mind, I was on the shot for 10 years with no problems, no cramps, no headaches, no menses, no problems with the shot what so ever. Not even pain at the injection site. So I had the Mirena placement on Monday and I have not stopped cramping yet. That same day I felt like I was going to pass out on the table. I drove home and I could barely walk into the house. I went to bed ASAP and took some pain meds and the meds did not touch the cramps. I remembered why I loved the shot so much! I have read most of the post on here, so your tell me it's not going to get better? How long should I wait for the cramps to stop. I don't want to sound crazy, but this is very uncomfortable. I have not even thought about sex. I'm really scared.

This is the story of how Yasmin destroyed my marriage and my life, it is a true story, no fictional characters or situations and any similarities with real life are not casual or coincidental but a side effect of this evil medicine called Yasmin.
My wife started taking Yasmin three years ago, after our son was born and at first, the medicine seemed a miracle. Her sin cleared, her cramps subsided, her periods became very regular and lasted always 3 days (before Yasmin she was not regular, had hughe cramps and her periods could go on for days).
Six months into Yasmin she began having wild mood swings and very acute PMS on a monthly basis, followed by a complete loss of sexual drive and appetite. I suggested the pill could be causing these side effects, instead, she started to blame me. Her bad morning moods were due to my face, her lack of libido because I disgusted her. She became rude and mean, but then, like magic, when her period ended she resumed her loving and caring self, nevertheless her sex drive never returned. Yasmin destroyed our sex life completely and no marriage can survive without sex. I bought her sexy lingerie, took her places, endless trips, I even lost 20 pounds, I could never light her flame back.
Then she started having insomnia, she would wake up in the middle of the night very thirsty and with cravings of cigarettes so every morning at 6 AM she would enter the bathroom and smoke. She became addicted to tobacco and she is currently smoking 1.5 packs daily. A month ago, trying to save our relationship, I rented a Villa on the beach and we couldn't make love the entire weekend because she stopped lubricating completely (she used to lubricate a lot) and sex became painful and unpleasant for both, needless to say I was also blamed for this.
Last weekend she entered a major depressive episode. As usual, the Dr. J. inside her turned to Mr. Hyde three days before her period, but this time, when she gobbled the last pill on the batch, all hell broke loose. This time not only she screamed at me but also insulted our 3.5 year old son, needless to say an innocent, good, beautiful, charming and sweet boy.
Now I am here, sitting in front of my computer with a suitcase full of clothes on my car, desolated, depressed and wondering what might have gone wrong. For years I took a hard beating both physically and morally, got my self esteem destroyed and my entire life dislocated by a marital situation that resembled a roller coaster with lower highs and even lower lows and the high and lows were highly correlated to Yasmin.
I consider myself a fair person, a relatively successful entrepreneur (given today's conditions), I hardly drink, don't smoke, I exercise, I spend most of my time home, I care for my wife and kid, I have provided generously both materially and morally. I never thought my marriage would have this finale.
So for all you women or men reading this post, this is another side effect of Yasmin. Not only it destroys bladders, livers, causes nausea, chest pain, anxiety, destroys libido and sex drive and causes insomnia and vaginal dryness, it is also a destroyer of marriages.
I hope you brave women out there initiating a class action lawsuit against Bayer succeed in getting remedies and in pulling this evil pill off the shelves. As for me, I hope this post causes Bayer the loss of many customers. It may not bring my marriage back and I may not get over it but at least I will get even.

I have been using Aviane for the past two years. I used to use Yasmin but hated it since it gave me small spider veins around my legs. I honestly like Aviane a lot more. It's cheaper, I haven't gained weight, and my periods only last for maximum of 3 days. there is a very very light flow and no cramps at all. My period used to last 5 days with a very VERY heavy flow plus I used to get cramps. the only thing that bothers me about Aviane is that i feel dryer during sex and it's harder for me to have an orgasm. i definitely noticed the decreased sexual drive and my breasts always feel tender and swollen.

I have had the mirena since august 2008 and ive had every thing from abdominal pains head achs weight gain anger outburst and absolutely no sexual drive. I don't know what to do its ruining my relationship and destroying my body with all the weight gain, but at the same time it is the most accurate source of birth control and not a pain like a pill but its destroying my life. I don't know if i should have it removed or see if there are anything they can do to help. Im confused!!!!!!

i also have been having pains in my back, i just cant wait for the day to end, some days i feel like i worked out all day. The things that i used to i don't do anymore like dancing,exercising and being more energetic. I haven't had trouble with the sex drive actually i want sex more and i don't have drywall either. I really have a sexual drive the week i take out the ring. this past two months have been the worst the for me, i taking to my doctor soon but every time i tell my doctor and i get checked for the problem the results are always the same that nothing is wrong. so what can i do

I was on Yaz for two years, and gained a total of 17 pounds from the day I went on it, to the day I went off of it. I'm sure some of the weight gain can be attributed to other factors, but I didn't really change my diet or exercise regime at all and the piles still packed on. I also always looked really swollen, almost pregnant, like you could see the water retention in my tissues. I had issues with my hair falling out, too. The plus was that my moods did feel more leveled out, but then the weight gain and hair loss caused other emotional issues so it was a no win situation.

I went off of it about a year ago, I've lost 15 pounds of the weight and my hair loss has pretty much subsided. But now I have very short periods, lasting three days tops. I worry that Yaz did something to my body that may affect my ability to get pregnant long term, as it seems my hormone levels have seriously depleted...

I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 3 weeks. I have experienced extreme mood swings. I am usually a very happy person and lately everything has been driving me crazy!! I have been spotting for the entire 3 weeks. I feel dizzy and lightheaded at times. My acne has increased. I have NO energy and NO sexual desire. I'm not sure to try to stick it out for another couple of months or try a new one. However, I have to be on some kind of birth control to help my endometriosis. Anybody else have these issues?

Well, my Fiancee (Sandra) started taking Topamax a few months ago. Her side effects have included: loss of energy, tiredness, tingling in the feet, nausea, chest pain, appetite lose, rapid weight loss, and a severe decrease in her sexual drive. The worst of the side effects is her sudden and unpredictable mood changes. She verbally assalts me and her children all the time. She is aggressive and picks fights over anything and everything. I love her with all my heart but I can not live like this. So bottom line, Topamax has gotten rid of her migraines and/or decreased their frequency and severity. And the cost of that benefit is the destruction of the relationships with the people that love her most.

I took Loestrin 24 for 5 months before I saw any side effects. I’ve always been a cheerful, healthy person. I’m healthy. I run track for my college. Everything was going great until for some reason I just didn’t want to see anyone anymore. I was constantly tired and lazy. My sexual drive became zero and I would fight with my boyfriend for no apparent reason. It was terrifying. Almost two weeks ago, I had a panic attack for the first time in my life. I thought I was having a heart attack. My left arm, chest, and back hurt. I couldn’t sleep. I had heartburn. So, I decided to go home and talk to my parents who comforted me. They also saw a change in my personality. My mother and I wouldn’t argue anymore. She would just say something and I would cry. I was depressed and kept on having anxiety attacks. At first I thought it was from caffeine but when the symptoms still persisted, I looked toward the birth control. I completely stopped it last Wednesday. Now, everyday is an improvement. I am much happier than I was. I felt a difference around 2 days after stopping the pill. Never take this pill. It’s terrible and no one should feel the way I have in these past two weeks.

I'm 15 and take Yaz but I feel the opposite of most of all. I have an increased sexual drive even though I shouldn't and I'm not depressed at all. As for emotional... Well I feel very emotional with many mood swings... hmm.

Hi, i have 26 yo, im a doctor and my boyfriend too, i started to take Yasmin 3 months ago and ive never been a depressed girl, who cries with every tv show or even a commercial, now I AM, ive been from a funny girl who always had a big smile on the face and make jokes of everything (and thats why my boyfriend love me) but during this last couple of months i just don't know why im crying for every stupid thing..and then i go...why the heck did i cry for that?...im just waiting for my menses and then im switching to evra and see how it works,
Oh...plus i think i have IBS, migraine like headaches, almost no sexual drive and poor lubrication during intercourse, but ive not gain weight and my skin face is without black spots. thats the only good thing about Yasmin, but definitely i think my mood swings are because Yasmin and thats the worst thing.

hi i am 24 year old have been taking this med but i probably know how actually it causes this acne problem its pretty simple one off the effect in wiki pidea if this med is increased sexual desire and so i cam to know it some how make our testical create or some other gland a youth harmon this ultimately through legitimately causes symptom it is too direct no wonder why you people at this age like this drug it increases the sex drive make you feel youth full but for the youth find the other med of the same class of med chech in wikipidia about this and for above 40 get some drug which increases sexual drive and with other good anti depression .

all this crap people writing about it and actually take the time to write crap about it and the ones that write crap about it don't even take it. Get educated about it. Everything has side effects Tylenol has side effects alcohol has a much effects as winstrol, yet people smoke and its the worst thing you do to your body but you don't hear yall dumb F#### talking about it.
I did a few cycles of it and nothing of that crap happened actually my sexual drive went up as i have more energy and stamina now.

I had my 3 daughter in sept. 2007 and then the Mirena put in, in Nov. 2007. Ever since then I have had no sexual drive, irritable I fight with my husband everyday, high blood pressure, and OMG the abdominal cramping. The cramping keeps getting worse and worse every month that goes by. I should have known something like this would happen when I was laying on the table and the doctor had to look at the instructions on how to put it in. Yesterday I was in so much pain that I could not get off the couch and I was home alone with my 5, 4, & 1 year old. I was bawling I was in so much pain it was like I was in labor all over again, the only difference was I didn't have anything good for the pain. I was taking 3 Tylenol every 3-4 hours. I talked to my doctor 2 months ago about my problems and she said that we needed to think long and hard before we took it out. I still have it in right now and I'm still in a great deal of pain. I feel like a bad mother I got really hateful with my kids today and the worst part was I couldn't even get up to cook them anything to eat. I called my doctor and I have a appointment this morning. Hopefully they will take it out. I was just wondering if anybody has had these problems with the mirena. Also, when I try to have sex with my husband it hurts so bad that I actually start to cry. This has never happened before. Then I feel like I have let him down. If you could let me know if you have had any of these problems please write me and ******. I just want to know if I am losing my mind or not.

My 17 year old son has been taking Lamictal for seizures for 2 1/2 years. He started out at 300 mg a day and was seizure free for a 1 1/2 years until November 2007. Since then his physician slowly increased his dosage to 500 mg a day. and he hasn't had another seizure . Unfortunately, Since the increase he has acne on his jawline and back. We are trying to find a way to get rid of the acne, but have been unsuccessful so far--decreasing his dosage is not an option as he has grand mal seizures. Also, he has these tiny red bumps all over his arms. His dermatologist say's they are a hair follicle problem, but I think it's quite a coincidence that they started when he began the Lamictal. If anyone has any suggestions, we would greatly appreciate them.

This is crazy...I had this IUD place on 12-2-08 exactly 1 month later to the date & I'm starting to experience some if not all of the same symptoms I'm reading about. My husband had a vasectomy after our last child so, I'm not using it for BC but, more less because I had such horrible periods. So, in order to bypass a hysterectomy my Kaiser doctor suggested Mirena. The procedure was painful even with the anesthetic I was like oh my Gosh!! (I wasn't even told to come back in 6 weeks to have a checkup only if I was having problems) I had cramping for about 1 day then after that I thought all was good. Well, that's what I thought until my husband and I had sex since the procedure. During the climax I experienced such a painful feeling in my uterus as if it was spasms, squeezing or a really hard cramp. The pain was so severe I had to stop in the middle of sex & couldn't continue. It did this about once or twice every time we had sex then, it stopped. Now the sex is amazing. My SEXUAL DRIVE has really increased. About a week ago, I was feeling overwhelmed with my daughter's Bday & Xmas. I was really tired just really exhausted. I stayed in the house for 3 days straight. Didn't feel like getting out of bed, getting dressed, going anywhere, cooking or doing anything. I just wanted to lay in bed. I really didn't know or understand what was going on. I told my husband I didn't feel depressed or nothing I just didn't feel like doing anything. Well, now I know I was depressed. I've never felt or had any experience of this sort. Then, on yesterday I had alot of lower back pain, headaches along with cramping in my R-ovary. Not to mention the irregular spotting since the IUD has been placed. I knew I would have irregular spotting but, how long is irregular going to be irregular. And after reading several blogs I'm starting to reconsider this. I"ve had alot of issues with BC starting with the pills (forgetting to take them), the DEPO shot (would not recommend to a dog), the Patch & now the Mirena. MayB, it's time to leave all of this along and just get the hysterectomy. But, wait won't that throw me into menopause at an early age. I'm only 31. Not sure what to do?

I am 16 years old, and I am on my second week of YAZ. I do not recommend this product to ANYONE. I am aware of the fact peoples bodies react differently to different doses of hormone, I am also aware you should give it some time for your body to acclimate to new drugs, but what i have been experiencing is close to unbearable. I went on the pill to end my terrible periods. They would be extremely irregular, i would have cramps so bad i would have to miss school, and i would have severe clotting (most likely due to laying down during my menstrual cycle.), and to clear up my acne. As promised, my skin is clearing up nicely. Although on the worse end,I have never had a migraine in my life and i have had one for almost 3 days now! Since i have started YAZ i have been on my period for the past two weeks, and it shows no signs of stopping soon. Also, I have had zero sexual drive since i have began YAZ, and as a sixteen year old girl I know for a fact that it is NOT normal by any means. I have always been a naturally thin girl, now i cant eat enough, and i am gaining weight on my stomach and thighs, which is making me extremely self conscious. Anyone who has taken the time to read this, thank you.I am just trying to warn girls my age about what might be in store for them if they begin this pill, and seriously consider if it is worth these side effects.

Yes, I have been taking Vytorin 10/40 for about 10 months, and it did reduce my cholesterol and triglycerides to 'normal', however, I slowly developed (initially) some 3 months back, problems in my left solder, diagnosed eventually as 'rotator cuff' ligament damage, however, it came on slowly and progressively worsened. I had not done anything strenuous to develop such a condition. It became so bad that I was basically redd to using my right arm. On top of this, the muscles in my lower arms became sore and felt strained even lifting a glass of water was painful. My Doctor was informed of increasing on-going muscle problems, did an emzine muscle test, which turned out to be 'clear'. And I also lost my sexual drive gradually.
I went off taking Vytorin a week ago on my own gut feeling, and my arm muscles and left shoulder have improved. I am also hoping no permanent damage. I am moving to a much higher exercise regime to 'burn' cholesterol and reduce triglycerides, and in the mean time look for 'natural' solutions as well.
I am not impressed with the medical responses I got, along with miss-diagnosed muscle / tendon supposed 'rotator cuff' serious problem that developed in my left shoulder, which I suspect may never be the same functionally. I recommend looking at other alternatives and natural remedies, this is my course of action. MM

Well I thought I was going crazy and needed to see a Psychiatrist but after reading all these other side effects that NuvaRing does not list on their label I know I am not going crazy. My side effects are as follow: extreme headaches at times, one was so severe I seeked medical attention because it felt like a stroke; stomach pains, depression, INSOMNIA (Tylenol PM helps; but who wants to become addicted to sleep meds), decrease sexual drive, and crying for no reason. So after all of this I have one more week until my cycle and I am retiring the NR. After all, I can find something more economical like the pill to cope with rather than that $35.00 I was spending on my Rx.

I have experienced a gradual decrease in my sex drive and occasional swelling of the lower legs and ankle over the last two years. It was subtle, so I made no connection to Nifedipine or Diovan. I am an African American male and this was recommended by my doctor to be good for my sexual drive and my ethnicity. She is either grossly misinformed or not particularly concerned so long as my B/P remains down.

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives that don't make you have the libido of a six year old?

I am 30 years old and have been put on Depo Lupron after a laproscopy to help with endometriosis. I am 2 months into a 6 month course (one shot every 3 months) of Depo Lupron and my life has drastically changed. I started feeling life altering hot flashes and night sweats two days after the first shot and nearly drown myself in sweat 24 hours a day. I experienced a little postpardum depression after giving birth 6 years ago but have found myself sunk into a sinking hole of depression and anger like I've never felt before. I bawl at McDonald's commercials and become enraged if the dishwasher isn't loaded properly! I am ecstatic one minute and severely depressed the next. I have even had thought of suicide since being on this shot. I am normally a very outgoing, athletic, cheerful, happy person - but since taking this shot, I have become a stanger in my own head. I tell my family all the time that I need to "go stick my head in the freezer" to cool off because of the horrific hot flashes. I have to carry a handheld fan with me 24 hours a day and sleep with ice packs to keep cool. Since the shot started 2 months ago, I have lost all sexual drive, am thoroughly exhausted by 9am and find myself crying at my desk at work by late afternoon because I am so tired. My family thinks I am going crazy and I've never fought more with my husband. My daughter has gone to grandma's for awhile because I'm just so tired and irritable that I feel like an awful mother. Migraines have also come full circle since the onset of the shot as well as blurred vision and shaky hands. I'm a little achy throughout the as well. I know that everyone responds to medication differently, but I'm finding a lot of people with the same side effects as myself and have to wonder why the doctors don't warn patients about these types of problems before prescribing medications such as Depo Lupron. I don't think I'll be going back for the second shot. Could it get any worse?

Where to start! I started Yasmin in Sept. of 2005. So I've been on it 2 and a half years. Things were fine for a while. It did what it was supposed to do, including no weight gain. That's how its been marketed here, so that's why i got it. Nothing has happened all of a sudden. Its all creeped up on me very slowly. Headaches, pressure in my sinuses, tiredness...all pretty simple. But here's the thing. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and put on Prozac. The Prozac didnt help. I came off it. Now here's the more troubling symptoms I've experienced. Heart Palpitations, squeezing in my chest making it hard to breathe, increased fear and anxiety (which cause heart attack-like symptoms which can more commonly be described as a panic attack). I've had my finger on the 911 buttons several times in the last 8 months. Now I'm discovering the joy of incontinence. Do you have any idea what its like to be in the store buying groceries and then all of a sudden there's a puddle of number 2 around your shoe? I do. I'm 23. Abdominal pain, stomach distension, constipation followed by diarrhea. Hair loss. Cold feet. LOSS OF SEXUAL DRIVE! My God!

I've said all this to my doctor. He ran blood for everything, there's nothing wrong with me medically. X-rays, mri's, cat scans, ekg's. Nothing nothing nothing. I changed doctors and told the new doctor my story. He figures that because i was put on Prozac for depression, that I must have developed Hypochondria (aka extreme paranoia and a belief that I'm terminally ill). Not true, I know its not terminal, i just need to be put on a new pill. My husband and I have regular sex, he's allergic to latex, and even those non-latex condoms. We're not ready for babies yet, so I dont know what to do. But if this helps someone else, then taking the time to write this was worth it. And as a side note, if you're on the pill and have the choice, and your doc wants to put you on prozac...Don't do it. Try switching your pill first.

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in....
I went on NuvaRing about 3 weeks ago. Immediately (!?!?!) I began sleeping about 13 hours a day (10 hours per night, with a 3 hour nap every afternoon). I have NEVER been a napper, and I never have needed more than 7.5 hours a night. Additionally, everything seemed a bit off-- on three occasions I got into weird funky mood swings and rearranged all of the furniture in my house. (again, this isn't really me). Appetite increase, for sure, and the gas was just nearly. Decreased sexual drive.... I usually am a sex fiend, and I actually passed up sex once.
On the flip side, it sure was easy! And, no dryness or itchiness or anything.
Anyways, not for me. I think I am going to try Yaz.
