I'm on my 3rd ring and i am miserable. The first week i put the ring in i noticed a differance. My symptoms are: extreme paranoia, anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, shaking, nervousness, diarea, loss of appetite, fatigue, flu symptoms. I am normally an anxious person ut not like this. It is worse since starting the nuvaring. My doctor told me to just give it more time but i'm geting to a point where i feel hopeless. My family can see the change in me. I just put the 3rd ring in a couple days ago but all i wanna do is take it out because i'm so scared. I'm not concerned about pregnancy because i am not sexually active at all. My doctor prescribed this med because of my PMS. I'm using the ring every 3 weeks so i don't get a period at all. I'm afraid of how my body will react if i take the ring out and suddenly get a period again. My pharmasist advised me to leave it in until you would normally take it out but i don't know if i can stand using it anymore. Does anyone have any advice. I'm afraid to talk to my doc about the emotional symptoms because it always seems they never believe the med can cause them. Thanks for all who read this, wish me luck or send me a prayer. Everyone else who's miserable on this BC you're in my prayers :)

I have been on the NuvaRing for about a year and a half now and it has been the best thing ever! I am a 20-year-old junior in college and had previously been on the pill since 8th grade due to the unbearable cramps I experienced. They kept me from going to school, participating in extra curriculars, and everything! I was literally bedridden for about four days every month. When I started college, and was out in a dorm on my own, there was was little to no stability in my schedule. I was forgetting to take that pill everyday and on tope of this, I was becoming sexually active. My risks of not taking my pill everyday at the same time were growing from just having cramps to actually having a baby! So I decided that there had to be an easier way, because I have heard so many horror stories from friends using condoms alone, and did not want to have one to add to the list.

In my freshman intro to biology class, the professor was going over the different types of birth control methods and discussed one that had just recently achieved FDA approval, and told us that we would start seeing commercials for it. It was the NuvaRing and I started a little research. I asked my doctor if it would be a good option for me, and she agreed, especially since she was going to discontinue writing prescriptions for the patch because of the high risk of blook clots. I picked up my prescription and was very scared because of the entry method. Didn't exactly want to put my finger inside, but "gotta do what ya gotta do."

I DID NOT experience any side effects that even compare to what these women have gone into detail about on this site, and my heart goes out to them. However, my chest grew a full cup size (hooray!) Definetly not a problem for me...it was a good day when I was at Victoria's Secret and explained to the saleswoman that I didn't understand why my bras weren't fitting as they usually did. She measured and indeed, had grown a full cup size, a very nice surprise when I had considered implants previously. I also have increased discharge but not a problem, I just use pantiliners. The increased discharge is not really a con to the NuvaRing, in fact I think it has increased my libido and my boyfriend's as well. No need for lube, it is all natural now (haha). Yes, the male can feel the ring during intercourse, and you can as well, but that is such a small price to pay for the peace of mind. It is never an issue for me or my boyfriend.

I recently thought of switching to an IUD, because of a commercial I saw on tv, about a five year plan. I don't want to have kids for at least another five years, but read about all of the side effects, including infertility, and that was enough to scare me away. I am perfectly happy with the NuvaRing but just wanted something I wouldn't have to worry about for five years.

Also mentionable, I gained a little more than the "freshman 15." It was the freshman 25 for me, and since switching to NuvaRing I have lost 15 lbs. Still not as small as I was in high school, but I am a happy 130 right now, and on my small 5'2" frame, it's not too bad. Don't really know if it was a result of the ring, but I didn't do any exercise, or much change to my eating habits (I have always eaten a tremendous amout of food!) I don't drink any carbonated drinks, only juices and water, but walking back and forth to class and the dorm might have something to do with it!

Just got back from doctor, blood pressure is normal.

Please don't think that the ring is terrible, yes some experience negative side effects, but not all. I love this thing, and will probably continue to use it until I am ready for a baby. I would recommend discussing it with your doctor first, and let them know at the first sight of any side-effects. Based off of my experience, I would suggest everyone get it, and I do to all my friends when they forget to take their pill.

All I can say is WOW!!!! I started taking Yasmin to lighten my menstrual cycle. I was severely anemic and had heavy cycles due to fibroid tumors. I was not sexually active but my doctor decided to have me start taking BCP's to regulate my cycle. Everything went fine for the first few months. But the last two months I've been feeling depressed and crying and I had no idea depression was a side effect. Also, I am starting my actual flow on day 18 of the pill pack. My past experience with BCP was Ortho Novum and my flow started about 2 days after the last active pill. Now it's before I finish the pills and last for about eight days. This just started during the last two months.

The last two months as well I've been feeling depressed, and crying....which I never do. When I researched yasmin, I didn't see depression as a side effect. If I did, I ignored it because I have taken meds without any problems in the past. I wonder if anyone has had a problem with the "irregular" menstrual cycle.

If brevity is what you're looking for, you're not going to find it here in my response. After readying through all these posts, I'm relieved to finally know I'm not alone and I'm not crazy for the side effects I've had. I'm just one of MANY!! So, here's my story and my experience.....

I've been on Loestrin 24 for about a year and a half now. At first, I thought my doctor had given me the miracle birth control pill. Literally, I've tried everything on the market since I was 17 before I was even sexually active. I had periods lasting heavily for 7-9 days. You name it, I've taken it. I'm now 33. Immediatly after starting Loestrin 24, I was recommending it to everyone I knew. I started having periods that literally lasted half of a day and with minimal bleeding. Soon, like clockwork, I was only having periods every other month. Every other month has now turned into a period every 3 or 4 months. Sounds great right? Wrong! Just keep reading. And no, I don't worry about being pregnant and not knowing (you were thinking it weren't you?) because when you have zero sex drive, you can't get pregnant. I'll get to that soon enough.

My doctor put me on Loestrin24 because I was having severe migraines during the "inactive" pills on normal 21 active pill OC's. At first when I started L24, the migraines reduced to just painful headaches, so I thought it was working. And, my boobs did get bigger, which was a plus-no complaints there! Now, my big boobs get painful and soar once a month and my headaches have gone back to 3-4 day full blown migraines. After reading about the cerebral thrombosis, I'm seriously considering having a cat-scan or an MRI, if my doctor will refer me. The last migraine lasted 4 days. I was so nausious I couldn't even stand up. My eyes felt like they were going to explode and the back of my head at my neck felt like a knife was stuck in me. These have been the worse migraines I've had, being on Loestrin 24. The migraines are so bad and last so long that they've scared my husband to death.

I'M DONE WITH L24!!! The worse side-effect (for my husband anyways) has been no libido, not even an ounce. When I voiced my concerns to my doctor (I'm a newlywed), she said, "that's the most common complaint I get." Well, duh, why didn't she tell me this in the beginning when she knew I was getting married?????? For fear of losing my husband, I agreed to try the regular Loestrin and all hell broke loose. My face broke out like a pre-pubescent 13 year old boy, my face was so oily I was embarrassed to not wear makeup, and I was so depressed about the way I looked and felt that my self esteem was gone. Needless to say, feeling as ugly as I did, sex was the last thing on my mind. I didn't want my husband to see my bare face, let alone my naked body. So, with no hope in sight, I opted to go back to Loestrin 24.

Can I just say, "Big mistake, BIG" so said Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Looking back and after reading everyone else's postings, I too now know why I've gained weight. I thought it was because I'm in my 30's now and don't have the energy and metabolism I had in my 20's. But looking around to my same- aged friends, they aren't having any weight problems. Nor are they on Loestrin 24. At 5'8", I've always weighed around 125-130 pounds since I started college in the early 90's, but after being on this pill over the last year & 1/2, I've gained weight. The weight gain reached a whopping 153 at my max. I've been dieting so I'm now down to 142 but I can't seem to go lower. I'm still at least 12 pounds more than I normally weigh and I'm a very small-framed person.

The worse side-effect that I've had to deal with is the acne. Typically most OC's help your skin. Well, my skin is horrible now. I'm 33 and there are days/weeks when I feel like avoiding going outside because my skin is so broken out. Not just pimples, but cystic acne and it's an embarrassment!! Needless to say I've had to do a few rounds of antibiotics and had to spend extra money on topical Rx's for my face. Now I'm getting ready to have some laser treatments for the acne & facial melasmas caused by Loestrin 24. The melasmas have just shown up over night here and there, regardless of how much sunscreen I apply to my face. In addition to the breakouts on my face, I've also had problems with acne on my back, which I NEVER had until I started Loestrin 24.
.
Other side effects include horrible, strangely bizzare nightmares. I didn't realize they were abnormal until telling my husband about them. Being a newlywed not wanting sex and having disturbing dreams and nightmares, he thinks I'm weird at this point!! I don't know that L24 has caused these, but I've read some other posts about nightmares, so I'm thinking there's a common thread here!

Another common side effect I have that others have mentioned is crying so easily. Seriously, I could get a Oscar for the performances! If there are any aspiring actresses, this is your pill! I've always been a sensitive person, but one shouldn't cry in a public shopping mall at the sight of a kid in a wheelchair.

When I'm not having the nightmares and weird dreams, I don't sleep well. This is probably due to the nightmares and racing heart that awake me from the dead sleep. They say when you're dreaming, you are getting the much needed REM sleep. Believe me, I'd rather not be getting any REM sleep than having nightmares like I've had.

And now for the sex chat. They say women hit their sexual peak in their late 20's and early 30's and I did. I couldn't get enough of it. It's probably why my husband married me. Now, the poor guy is deprived nearly completely of sex. Of course, this is not a bad side effect for me, because by not having the urge, means not worrying about getting pregnant like some of the other people who posted have had the unplanned incident.

And once again I'll mention the headaches and migraines. They've been so intense, that if someone hit me over the head with a cast-iron pan, it would feel better. Like I initially said, I thought I had found "the one", the pill that had rid me of my 7-9 day periods. The only good thing about this pill is the fact that I haven't bought a box of tampons in over 4 months.

If any of you reading this are looking to reduce your period if not, miss it all together, then this is your pill. If you are anorexic and looking to gain weight, this is your pill. If you need an excuse to not have sex with your boyfriend or husband, then this is your pill. If you need a reason to miss an exam or cut class because of a migraine, this is your pill. If your goal is to one day win an Oscar for drama, this is your pill. If you want to park in the "mothers to be" up close parking spots, then once a month you can. You'll be so bloated you'll look 3-4 months pregnant. I'm not even exaggerating here. I was once asked if I was pregnant. You know how awful this is...Urgh!!! If you want to feel absolutely miserable, then this is the pill for you. The initial tease of "barely there" periods and clear skin is gone before you know it! Beware! I had a lot going on in the first six months of taking L24. We were planning a wedding, working a lot of hours, so I thought all my symptons were initially stress related. Once the wedding was over and work calmed down six months later, nothing changed. Thanks to everyone who posted before me, I now know what has been wrong with me over the last several months. I wished I'd found this sight long before now!! The periods have hardly existed, but even something about that makes me feel weird. I just finished my last pack!!!!

And the last concern I would like to mention in regards to pills like Loestrin 24 and others that have so many active pills you rarely have periods or have them every few months, is the overall health concern. To all of us currently or previsouly taking Loestrin 24, we need to ask ourselves...what are we going to find out next about this pill? Once it's been out for 4-5 years on the market we'll start hearing more of the complaints, strokes, debilitating side effects and so on. I mention this because one other pill I took a couple of years ago when it first hit the market was "Seasonale" and it was great for the headaches and reducing my period. Now, look at all the issues with Seasonale and similar pills...several women have actually DIED from them. I have to ask myself as well as you all reading this...are we going to be the next victim to the FDA's quick approval of a truly dangerous form and method of birth control? Will my sex-deprived husband have to read my name in the obituaries in the morning paper because his wife died of a stroke?

I'm seriously contemplating getting off OC's all-together. These billion dollar pharmaceutical companies have sales reps with degrees in communications or business going around pushing prescription medications!! Rarely do you see a drug rep who actually has a medical background. These sales reps with 4-year bachelor's degrees are convincing our OB/GYN's who've gone to school and completed residencies for a combined 12 years, that these drugs are safe and okay for us to take. My grandmother had a stroke at age 32 yet, my doctor said I was not high-risk being on Loestrin 24 despite the family history because that's what the drug reps say. WTF??

Here's what doesn't make sense to me in regards to the FDA. The FDA takes 10 years to approve a surgery and disc replacement that has been successfully conducted in Europe for 15-20 years. Meanwhile doctors here were continuing to do spinal fusions. Look at these poor people who suffer daily. The new surgery finally approved has now helped 10's of 1000's yet people had to suffer for years to get the new procedure? Yet, the same FDA will throw new drugs on the market in a year's time? What is wrong with the FDA? Oh, let me guess, the pharmaceutical companies are tied to politics?? You bet they are It's funny what waiving a few million dollars around will do and how quickly it will get drugs approved. Read on for a good reference and publically documented "donation".

I have to ask the makers of Loestrin 24, is this drug going to be the classic example of an overly needed redlight at a treacherous intersection? Will we have to see multiple strokes and female deaths before pills like Loestrin 24 and others are pulled from the market by the FDA? They are quick to put them on the market at the waive of a few million dollars toward certain politicians, yet, it's like pulling teeth to get them banned. You think I'm joking? I was at the National Democratic Debate two months ago in Charleston, SC. There were 3 major sponsors: CNN (the host), You Tube/Google (Provider of video questions) and Allergan. Which is the odd one? Yep, Allergan, you guessed it. Allergan is a major pharmaceutical company who's biggest product is ironically, Botox. Coincidence? I think not.

I guess I've rambled enough, but one final comment and I'm done. If you are reading through these posts because you are contemplating Loestrin 24, please don't even consider it. Don't do it to yourself. And, if you are a drug rep for Loestrin, shame on you for selling/supporting a dangerous product!!

Thank you for posting, everyone. This is the 1st place where I found information on side effects and it has been really helpful, up to a point.
I have been experiencing what I think are side effects from the coil...I just don't know what to do- sometimes Im absolutely fine, but I have been getting PMT, and not just PRE-menstrally... Because of this and because I can't figure out what other contraceptives I can use, I am a bit in denial of my problems! Also, because when I went to the family planning, the nurse tried to talk me out of removing my coil, saying my problems were not caused by it :(

The side-effects that I think I have:

*Mood swings. Sometimes REALLY depressed, feelig worthless and fed up with life, other times very angry and aggressive. Sometimes absoultely fine. But very up and down and out of sorts.

*Acne. Very bad acne on my face and my back, besides this my skin just looks different-used to look really healthy but looks red and without its usual glow. I feel like I look really ill. Really gets me down.

*Insomnia. Ive not been that bad for getting to sleep, mostly. But at certain times of the month very restless. Mostly my dreams are just really vivid and imaginative, which is cool in a way, but not right-I used to feel like this when I was going through puberty-is that a time of heightened progesterone??

*Itchy skin. But I don't know if this is my imagination.

*Pains. I have weird pains in my legs, period pains that kind of wave down my legs and odd stabbing pains in my uterus and tubes.

I just don't know what my alternatives are. As a sexually active woman who does'nt want to have children at the moment, as I am at uni, I feel like a second class citezen. I can't use condoms. Lets face it, they are'nt so good in the longterm. I have had the copper coil and the period pains used to make me faint and atually throw up with pain, so I got this. Hormones just don't agree with me...I think its too dodgy to use the withdrawl method or work out least fertile times on the calendar.

Does anyone know when the male injection is coming out???!! Or have another solution....?

I'm glad to know that there are other women out there with similar problems as me. I recently became engaged, sexually active and with that, became a new user of the Ring. It was reccomended to me by two family member s who love it and would never go back to all the other methods they'd tried in the past. I, however, am not as lucky as they are. I put it in on the first day of my period, as directed. My period lasted about 8 days when it usually lasts five and I had brown spotting for the rest of the month. Intercourse became very painful for me from the get-go. It was like a burning sensation and it was horrible enough that my fiance and I have not done it for two weeks. I went in to my gyno and she said I had a yeast infection and that the Ring was healthy for the vagina because the vagina LIKES the hormones in it and that the Ring should improve the atmosphere in the vagina, if anything. So, I've had two UTI's and a yeast infection since putting it in, bleeding after intercourse, maddening headaches, cramps, ACNE (which it is suppose to clear up), and severe mood swings. But, my doc won't switch me to the pill because she thinks that my body will adjust. I guess I'll just give it some more time and, if it doesn't straighten up within another couple of weeks, I'll demand something else because this just is not working for me as I had hoped it would!

I haven't been on any type of birth control in 9 years. I stopped because after a year of oral contraceptives I was keeping a yeast infection. Since I wasn't sexually active (I was using the pill for cramps), I discontinued the oral contraceptive and the infections went away.
I am getting married in November and need to start on some form of birth control. I tried the NR on a recommendation from a friend. In less than 24 hours I had a raging yeast infection (swelling, discoloration, itching, burning and some mild pain). Taking diflucan has helped, but not made the infection go away completely.
Should I take out the NR / will it mess up my cycle if I take it out now??? I don't know if I can stand it much longer!

I started Loestrin 24 Fe in September of 2006 and for a few months my skin was terrible but after two months or so it started to clear up completely. I've always had minor skin problems and i just had to wait a few months and these problems subsided. However, I stopped taking it because I was away from my boyfriend while at college and was not sexually active but I started a new pack about 10 days ago. All of a sudden, my skin has erupted in pimples when I had absolutely none last week. Also, I am extremely irritable and have been experiencing horrible mood swings. I know from experience that it takes awhile for my body to get used to the Pill, but I had already been on it for seven months. I don't understand why I am having such an adverse reaction and am considering going off of Loestrin for good. My gyno said that Loestrin is prescribed for people with skin problems and really bad PMS, but it seems to me that both these things are only getting worse. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

It was nice to find this website, finally figuring out a reason why I get my yeast infections, headaches, naseau, pain on my left breast bone, fatigue, mood swings, etc... I always thought it was just me, but I'm now thinking that maybe it's not. I've had recurrent yeast infections ever since being on Yasmin (I've been on it for over 4 years) and my MD has never mentioned it could be the pill. I finally started seeing a connection between the two when I started tracking what happens to me when I miss taking the pill (ALWAYS a yeast infection). And it got me to thinking that maybe there are other women out there who suffer from the same thing. Also, at some points I actually thought I had serious mental/health problems b/c of my consistent headaches, fatigue, and mood swings. I used to be really active up until I was 19 when I started on Yasmin, and it went downhill from there. I guess I just thought that this was just my normal grown up self (I know sounds kinda lame). And I've totally experienced the lack of sex drive, it seems I'm only interested the week before I get my period or when I'm on it.

I have been having itching and burning the week after I put the new ring in. I have no idea why and I've gone to the doctor several times about this and they find nothing. They just prescribe me cream and send me off. Each time it gets worse. At the moment I'm not even sexually active, so there is no way it could be and STD or anything like that. Also I've gained a ton of weight since I've been on it, don't feel like going out anymore, I'm always tired and I'm extremely depressed. However, when I don't use it, I'm moody and fly off the handle, basically having withdrawls from it. Any suggestions on what to switch to?

Gas bloting, acid reflux and irregular bowel movement required me to take Zantac. I also suffer from severe asthma. After about a week of Zantac treatment, I realized that I was unable to get an erection, and lacked any sexual desire, even when stimulated by my female partner. This was devastating. I am in my early 40s, and have always been sexually active. I research the internet for possible ED symptons, and found out that prolonged use of Zantac can adversely affect an erection. I have now resorted to Pantoloc, instead of Zantac and hope to enjoy my relations with my partner once again. No more Zantac for me.

I'm on day 19 of this pill and it's been a crazy ride so far. Some info on why I'm on it and what it's been doing to me thus far:

I've been like clockwork with my menses from after I finished puberty till now... about 10 years total.
I'm 33 and not sexually active.
I missed my menses after a very prolonged stressful month and then proceeded to bleed for 17 days a month later.

I had an ultrasound and the results showed a 4 cm cyst on one of my ovaries, it being unique in that it's a cyst inside of a cyst.

After these results my GYN (as assigned to me by my HMO primary care doctor) suggested I go on the pill for 3 months to stop any more ovulation then do a second ultrasound to see what the current cysts state will be.

I am predisposed to migraines since I was 7 years old, so this was my only concern in taking this type of medication.

So far I've had 2 major migraines which I've toughed out at work.

The second of the two, yesterday, Day 18, was accompanied with feelings of high intolerance, anxiety, anger, panic (that this crap was happening), and this weird feeling of knowing who I am normally, but not being able to grasp any of my normal behaviors.

To my S.O.'s credit, he says this is what I'm like when I'm PMSing.

I really hope that this doesn't mess with my overall chemistry, as it's taken me a long time to get to know me and to start all over is not something I want to have to go through again.

I have been off of the Nuvaring for almost a year. My biggest concern is the fact that since I have been off of it my skin has been in bad shape. Before I got on it my skin was almost always clear! During the time I took it my skin was still clear. Almost immediately after I stopped taking it I got pimples all over my face and upper chest area. They are not as bad as they were, but I have pimple scars now. Some of them have faded but the rest are noticeable. This is very disappointing since I only got off of it because I haven't been sexually active!!

Dear Friends:

I have been off and on prednisone for thirty years. I am a chronic asthmatic, and things flare up easily. This past six months have been difficult, as my symptoms have exacerbated about every month.

Prednisone has taken its toll. My weight has been a problem even though I am careful what I eat. My muscle mass seems to have decreased, and I find that I do not have the strength I used to have. I am 67 years of age and otherwise in good health. I do have peripheral neuropathy in both feet and legs, and polycythemia vera. The Polycythemia is been under control for 7 months, with no phlebotomies required.

The worst side-effect of all is on my libido. I have always been sexually active, but the prednisone has made me dysfunctional. When I ask my doctor(s), the inevitible reply is, "Well, as we age, things are never what they used to be." They avoid the subject like the plague.

I need some information. Is it the prednisone which has caused erectile dysfunction and loss of libido? If so, what can be done about it?

Dave

I have been on Yasmin for almost three years. At first it was a miracle. I lost weight, my skin cleared up, and I was sexually active so my fear of pregnancy was lower...fast forward to now...I am not in a committed relationship and if I were I would have a very unhappy partner...NO SEX DRIVE...I am nearing 30 and I am supposed to be at the top of my game...nada. My skin is still pretty good, but I feel bloated all the time...I have gained back the 10 pounds I lost. I workout 5-6 times a week and eat healthy. After three months of being heavier than I could handle I started with a trainer. I have worked so hard and still holding on to this bloat and round feeling. My attitude is lazy...not towards work but towards social...dating, friends...all I do is work, workout (not showing) and watch tv. I do not have motivation for men because I am not even sexually interested...and the emotional would be overwhelming because I do not have any patience for that either. I want my old self back...and after reading all the side effects from coming off the pill I am even nervous to do that. Will I break out, will I gain even more weight...and now I am reading about heart palpitations...and leg cramps (which I have been having lately but only after I have had a drink). Please give me some words of encouragement for throwing out yasmin after this last packet. Is life really better without yasmin or will I be in the same place only with acne???

I got the Kenalog shot for my allergy attacks. The first time i got the shot was in Mar. 05, i was on my period and it lasted for almost 3 weeks! i was scared because i thought i had some kind of infection even though i wasn't sexually active. Then a week and a half later i get my period again?! After the shot expired i started to get sick again and i couldn't take it anymore so my mother made me an appointment for the shot. This would be my second time getting this injection. I got my shot Aug. 25, 05 and i was less than a week away from getting my period but when the time came for period to come, and it didn't!!! Now im really scared because im sexually active, but taken pregnancy tests and came out negative and, no period yet!!! If this has heppened to anyone else please i would to know what your story is and if you were in the shoes as im in and any other information related to it, Thanks!!!

My girlfriend and i have been going out for three years and only been sexually active this last year. she started of taking ortho tri cyclen for two months but then got flashes of depression so she switched to Yasmin. she has been on yasmin for two months and i can say honestly there have been 4-5 times in these two months she has wanted to have sex, usually it would be me wanting too. I felt like the problem was either i wasnt pleasing her in bed or she had fallen out of love for me because it seemed as though she never wanted me, and i found this weird since we are both 21 and our sex drive should be higher. I happy to see that yasmin has been a key role in this problem not me but i do have a question is there another type of birth control pill or shot that will not lower sex drive or effect depression???

On 200mg twice a day morning and evening about a year now for neuropothy(sorry about spelling). Hands and feet. Used neurontin for about 8 years and put on weight. topomax initially took off about 30 lbs. I weight 300 male. Anything carbonated tastes bad, beer soda etc. I prefer water, lemonade, tea, coffee. Now neurontin's patent is about to run out and the makers have come up withtheir subsitute which is Lyrica. Your dr will be suggesting you try this one. It works basically the same as neurontin, maybe just more potent so you take less and they have a new patent. Probably add the lbs too. It affects my sex life in that cannot seem toget to an orgasam as easily so I avoid it. Many drugs for my condition have this affect since they affect seratonin in the brain and thus have a bad affect on sex life of men who still want to be sexually active. Sorry to be so frank. Actually, the topomax does not help all that much with the pain I experience but I do not want to be too quick to switch drugs. Lyrica is still not available through insurance companies in this country although I here they are working on it.

Wow I would just like to thank everyone on this site for posting up all these side effects of Yasmin. My gynecologist gave me a three month sample of Yasmin and luckily I haven't started taking it. I have recently been experiencing acne problems and I have been more sexually active so I decided to go on the pill because I heard that certain BC pills help acne. Well now thanks to all of you I won't start taking the Yasmin. Does anyone know about Ortho-Cyclin, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, or Ortho tri-cyclen-lo?

I have been on Yasmin for 15 months with very little side effects. I was put on it when I was not sexually active because I was getting hormone related migraines. But then when it came time for me to get married and become sexually active, my doc and I decided that I should just continue on Yasmin...in both cases, my experience has been very good.

The only side effects I have ever experienced are dryness (in hair, skin and in the vaginal area) and subsequent thirst. These are easily helped with the intake of more water and thus my complaints are minimal.

Just wanted to post a positive experience. If you're looking into which pill is right for you, please keep in mind that people usually only post negative things...lots of people don't think to seek out companies and compliment them so what you see here will naturally, be unbalanced (no matter which drug you are researching).

Hope you find the right option for you!

Hi, everyone! I was wondering if anyone was put on the pill for pelvic congestion. Last September my doctor put me on Yasmin because of the diuretic effect and low weight gain. The moment I started Yasmin my knees began to ache. They continue to ache to this day. Also, I have exprienced a lot of tingling in my left arm and on the side of my face. Although I didn't know it might be the pill until I saw this site! I'm not sexually active, but I have noticed a significant decrease in sex drive. Recently I have experienced shortness of breath, too. I take the pill at night, and have noticed that I have a harder time waking up in the morning. After reading this site, I think I'm gonna switch my pill. On a good note, my skin has cleared up significantly. Thanks, and best of luck to you all!
