I am a 56 year old female & have been on toprol for 7 or 8 years. I was a small business owner & under a lot of stress. I had couple of times where my heart would race & pound & I felt really strange. I went to the ER where they of course checked my blood pressure. It was a little high, but I was stressed out! After the second time this happened they put me on 50mg of toprol. I have since weaned myself down to 25 mg. I think I was having a panic attack, which I had never had before. I regret the day I ever started taking this poison. I have had such shortness of breath that I can hardly walk to my mailbox & back. I feel like I can never get enough air in my lungs. I feel a tightness in my chest all the time, sometimes my heart feels like it is beating abnormally. I am always aware of my heart beat which I never was before this med. I have gained about 20 to 30 lbs, which is very hard to lose when you feel like you are dying if you exercise. I have pain in my left shoulder, which I don't know if it is from the med or not. I do not sleep well at night & am so tired all the time it is hard to get through the day. I just overall feel like crap! It seems doctors are no help they just want to try you on other meds, I have tried that too. They are all poison I felt even worse on some of the others. I don't want to go through the rest of my life like this. Has anyone successfully gotten off this stuff? I would love to hear from you. Thanks, K. L.

Thanks, everyone! My (brand new) doctor had convinced me that I was simply experiencing anxiety to explain my side effects. After being off Lamictal and all medications for several months, and then restarting on Lamictal only, I noticed all the following side effects, some of which I've had before, and some completely new. Also, the ones I'd had before came back at a level of severity which I had never experienced.
One familiar side effect was hand tremors and general shakiness which sometimes also affected my speech. Even strangers would notice and ask me if I was ok. Luckily, this was during this past winter, so I would basically lie and just say I was cold and a bit shivery. Another familiar side effect that a lot of others are mentioning are cognitive issues and short term memory loss. Sometimes I felt like my tongue was lazy or I felt tongue-tied, and I couldn't get it to work right to say the words I was thinking. Sometimes, I just plain lost my train of thought or couldn't think of the words to express what I was thinking. I'd all my life been prone to mishaps of speech like occasional spoonerisms and such, but on Lamictal it was happening probably daily, and I'd even started stuttering. Teaching and explaining often difficult concepts and public speaking is part of my job, so this was causing me a lot of anxiety. I, too, completely blanked on spelling out words when friends and colleagues relied on my spelling abilities more than their computer's spellcheck. I also thought I was having sudden leaps in experiencing getting older (early 30's) because of my memory, I typically have an almost photographic memory and can picture where I saw my keys last or what have you, but all of the sudden I couldn't even piece the photo together anymore or it was foggy in my memory.
The newest side effect also experienced by others was clumsiness not only of my own body but of my surroundings. I suddenly noticed that I was doing things way more often like tripping, falling, stubbing a toe, nicking a finger, dropping things, etc. Where I was an excellent parallel parker before, I'd get out of my car and realize I'd parked 2 feet from the curb and crooked.
I decided to look up Lamictal's side effects after discussing this with my excellent talk therapist because I was extremely frustrated with my new doctor telling me I was just anxious and there was really nothing he could do for my (imagined) "side effects." And here everyone is experiencing the same thing. I don't think I should be made to feel like I don't know any better and that I should suffer the REAL side effects of this drug. I didn't study medicine, but I still have a degree in biology so I'm not so stupid that I'll believe anything any doctor tells me.
I think I would almost rather suffer a mild mood swing than suffer these side effects. I'm going to try to look for something else.

WOW. 1st of all i must say if u r about 2 take budeprion, DON'T!!!! EVER!!!! i read these posts b4 i took it, i read all about the side effects of this drug and didn't take it as seriously as i should have. i figured i would give this drug a chance because my depression was so bad nothing at all helped, ever, and i figured i had nothing 2 lose. well, i lost my f***king mind. i am hundreds of times worse than i was b4, i am insanely irritable, angry, self destructive, depressed, i feel like a monster. i have been taking it 4 2 weeks, and i am very dizzy all the time, i feel like i am losing my vision. everything is really blurry and i swear it feels like i am going blind and i cant see very well at all.
i cant believe i did this 2 myself by taking this awful drug. whoever said it was way better than no drugs was so right... my depression was bad b4 but this is out of control!!! its f***king amazing.... i am whacked out beyond belief and so much worse off... soooooo much worse.... i have the same things running thru my head over and over and over and over all day!! and it is all awful!!!! i was NEVER EVER EVER this bad, nowhere near this bad.... now i am completely psychotic and utterly insane and i feel dizzy, drunk, and i cant see. i feel awful. i am so rattled up... if u want a fair warning from a real person, here is my testimonial, NEVER EVER touch this disgusting stuff. my god... how in the hell do ppl get away with giving ppl this crazy shit???? seriously????? sadly... i know no1 will ever give me an honest answer 2 that question... there isn't one!!!!! =(

I started taking Levoxyl about two months ago and since that time I have suffered from an internal shakiness that won't stop. I was told that Levoxyl has no ill effects, but the handout from the pharmacist shows that nervousness and trembling can be one of the side effects. My blood pressure has also been all over the charts since I started the medication and I feel chest pressure every once in a while.

I just realized I am not alone.... what a trip! Birth control. I think I have tried a lot of things in the market, pill, injections, IUD, NUVARING; I am 35 years old and I am exhausted of this never ending pregnancy avoidance. But it is inevitable. I want to live my life the way it is.
I have used Nuvaring for over a year now, and it has successfully helped me avoid pregnancy, however, in the last couple of months I have had an increase in the frequency of the migraines accompanied by weakness, shakiness and deep emotional struggles. I get super irritable, or super sad; which is not very normal for me, I am somewhat balanced, I have noticed this marked mood swings around the times of my migraines. I am just exhausted, because I am intolerant to higher levels of hormones and also intolerant to latex. My boyfriend said we should just be "natural", but I think that would just make me more scared than anything else.
Another side effect is that sex is somewhat painful sometimes, I enjoy sex more on my week off the ring, it might be psychological, but I think it is also physiological.
Oh, well, I am glad I am not alone, I am going to talk to my doctor about it. I just want to be at peace with this.

i had a headache so i took the only thing that we had in our house which was acetaminophen/aspirin/caffeine. i had noticed before that when i had taken this medicine before that i had stomach upset for a little while and a feeling of shakiness, kinda like a weak feeling like i was out of it. i believe that this may be due to the caffeine in it. i do not have a huge caffeine intake daily, so i believe that is what causes the shaky feeling. i took the 2 pills with the water and i had a donut to eat after i took the pills, but i don't think that i had enough in my stomach to compensate for the strength of the pills. i started to have the stomach upset about 45 min to an hour after i took the pill. it seems to be slowly going away and i am thinking about going and getting something to eat to hopefully help the situation.

I'm on my sixth week of Levoxyl 50 mcg. I've been feeling great, and even losing some fat. I've been able to work my 14-hour Mondays without any caffeine at all as well. My pancreas must have been stimulated to work more efficiently, because I don't wake up hungry, I don't get the sugar crash and shakiness before meals, and I can go longer between eating without feeling homicidal.
The only weird thing: my lips are extremely dry. They're cracked, chapped and swollen so much it looks like I had a lip job. Even a tiny bit of salt hurts to eat it, as well as wine and spicy food. IDGI.

Hi All,
I am very concerned about the effects of Geodon. My 12 year old daughter is on it has been on it for some time and now is having speech problems. When she talks its as if she has what I call a"Mush Mouth" you can barley understand her and it's almost like a whisper talk. Has anyone else experienced this? Please I am in need of any input. Thanks,Annette from Michigan

I have taken Prednisone several times for allergic reactions. The main side effects I have encountered are 1.Shakiness 2. mood swings 3. anxiety-mild depression 4.upset stomach 5 rapid heartbeat.6.insominia. To counteract the anxiety, moodines, insomnia I take benadryl. I talked to my pharmacist and she said Benadryl is ok to take with Prednisone- you should still talk to your Doctor or Pharmacist. The Benadryl takes some of the edge off of the prednisone. As for the upset stomach I just make sure I eat before I take the Prednisone.

I took Lipitor for about 2 years- 5 mg.
Leg cramps-soreness throughout my muscles- very sore buttocks-
my legs are shaky- if I use them too much; (as in walking 3 miles)
I am (was ) an avid body builder that could squat with 100 lbs- and now ( I am a health conscious -non drinking- NO other medication 104 lb slim female) have quivering legs if I stand for too long. I even had a muscle biopsy- and it cam back negative- I have not had a statin for 6 months- but I still have cramps- and abnormal liver values- and I have NO other conditions-I have been scanned from head to toe - open MRI- closed MRI -but the muscle stiffness- soreness- especially legs- continues-
does anyone know how long it lasts? I have also been tested for liver cancer- thank God-negative.
I really feel that Lipitor did this- has anyone else gone from fit as a fiddle to a quivering -achy person- I have gone through 5 doctors- internal - gastrointestinal - neurologist- hematologist and all is negative- just high liver values and muscle pain. Thank you so much.Maxine

I take Zoloft for depression and Anxiety. I was increased to 200mg about 1 month ago. Recently, I have been having headaches (pressure behind eyes) and at the base of my skull, along with shakiness and diarrhea. Is this caused by the increase in Zoloft?

I was diagnosed with asthma after 34 years of a very athletic life. My dr. prescribed me predisone, proventil, singular and ADVAIR!! Although the predisone was for a 7 day period, the other three meds. I was to take indefinetly. For someone who has never been on any medication, this was a very hard adjustment!! I took all meds. for about 6 wks. but my gut feeling was just telling me to stop, so after blurriness of vision, weight gain, shakiness, loss of sleep, mood swings, loss of concentration, severe heart burn(especially at night), breast tenderness, back pain and the need to clear my throat all the time I took it upon myself to get off the drugs!! I stopped about a week ago and am feeling a slight shortness of breath but I'm going to stay on top of it and work out on building up my lungs and flushing all these medications out of my system. Sometimes doctors are to quick to diagnose a person and put them on unnecessary medications. I believe on our bodies having the capability of healing themselves with natural elements. I'm on my way to a natural product store to find a healthier way to heal my body. Thank you all for the comments!! I'm relieved to know that I made the right choice on stopping ADVAIR!!!!

I am a 27 year old female and have had high blood pressure since I was 15. I have been on beta blockers my whole life like (Labatalol and Toprol XL100mg/day). I have never noticed any side effects with those, but my doctor just switched me to Lisinopril because my blood pressure on Toprol is 135/90 and when I am off it is 160/105 so she said the Toprol really isn't working. So, I have been on this medicine for a week and a half now and I think I would rather take my risk of a stroke and have high blood pressure than to continue to take this. I have nausea each day, upset stomach, my appetite is gone and then when I do eat I feel very full and bloated, I am shaky on the inside, foggy headed, I cough in the morning, I have been waking up with a sore throat that goes away within a few hours, but I am not sick, I get a weird dull headache in the afternoon, pounding heart, and I feel crazy like a crackhead. I have been crying for the past three days and feel depressed, confused and my mind won't stop racing about stuff.
AND my BP has been 130/80 so nothing has changed. I am having a hard time focusing at work and I just want to go take a nap because I am so worn out from fighting with the racing thoughts and shakiness. I am going to a new Dr. today to see if I can take something else, but as of today I will no longer take Lisinopril.

i have been taking Yamine for about a month and a half, after being on a generic pill for a couple years. I didnt know if these symptons i was having was caused by yasmine, but now i think it may be. I have been getting lightheaded, blurry eyes, shakiness, hot flashes..almost like a panic attack, and i have become very dehydrated, even though i have been drinking alot of water. I even went to the doctors for these symptons and they still don't have an answer, so i think it may be yasmine.my newest sympton as of yesterday is chest pain. also i feel like my heart is beating fast all the time, and i feel fatigued way too often, which is causing me to eat more, becauase i am starving way to often, and if i don't eat i feel like i am going to collapse. Also my sex drive has gone to non-existant- is that common? I workout all the time, and eat pretty healthy, so i don't know what else these symptons could be coming from. Is anyone else experiencing these sympons?

I've been on Lisinipril for 4 months now, only 5 mg, but my bp has got worse. Also I wake in the night feeling panicked and heart racing and I can hear a sound like a wasps nest in the ceiling (its there in hotels as well as in my own bedroom). I don't know whether to blame the pills.

I am on 60mgs at night and have noticed a lot of shakiness and sometimes I get muscle twitches. My doc said it would also help me sleep and it has done the opposite. I'm BP so I have the racing thoughts and I have been having them at night so I cant sleep until about 3AM. I also sometimes feel feverish and weak. Im pretty sure its Geodon and if Im right it sucks!

I was diagnosed with a sluggish thyroid also and the dr put me on 50 mcg of levoxyl. I had all of these symptoms of low thyroid hormones and didn't know it. I never put all the problems to the same culprit. I had very bad muscle aches, with or without exercise. I kept thinking I had bruised or torn something. I had weight gain on WW and a health study I was on. Nothing, I mean nothing would help me lose weight. I've gained 20 pounds. Which also caused depression. Sometimes I would have low blood sugar, when I've never had problems with blood sugar before. I was very tired all the time. I felt like I couldn't make it in the evenings and some mornings. I would complain to my PCP that I felt like I had just caught a cold - really drained and tired. I have really severe allergies and couldn't figure out why. After starting the meds I felt bad the first day - diarhea, nausea. Then for the first couple of days I felt great. Then the fourth day I couldn't sleep and felt shaky and had nausea only at night. After about three nights of no sleep, I cut the pill in half and took it. Then I was able to rest at night and didn't feel shaky on the inside. I took 25 mcg for about two weeks and then I started feeling the same way again. So I called the office and the dr said to take 3/4 of a pill. That worked fine for the frst week, but then I started getting these headaches that won't quit. I used the process of elimination and the thyroid meds were the only thing that changed. I will have to call tomorrow and see what I can do about that. If anyone has some of these problems let me know. The dr said that it doesn't have any side effects, but I beg to differ. I'm not sure what dosage to take today. I've had these bad headaches with a little dizziness for a week now.

I am so glad I found this forum for this pill that has changed my life for the worse since I started taking it. I have been to the ER because I fainted at work and had a very rapid heart beat. My PMS has been the worst I have ever experienced since I started Yasmin. In addition to that - I have experienced the following since starting Yasmin in November 2006: Rapid heart beat, vertigo, breast tenderness all the time, sleepness nights, bouts of drepression, nausea any time of the day, my eyes burn after all day and are extremely dry, shakiness in my hands. I thought I was going crazy at first or that something was seriously wrong with me medically but looling back - all this started about a month after I started my first Yasmin pack. I took my last pill yesterday after discovering this site and all the other women out there who are experiencing exactly the same thing. I hope to see an improvement in my mood and personality soon.

I have been reading a lot of these side effect stories since I gave my son his first dose of Singulair this morning. Our doctor suggested giving it to him during the day and his QVAR puff at night. My son hasn't used his Ventolin inhaler for over 18 months and the QVAR was reduced to a single daily dose over 6 months ago. At this moment he has just shown an increase in his shakiness and a mild bit of diarrea. But at this point I will not continue with another dose til I talk to my doctor after the weekend. With my son having an increasing amount of febrile seizures the past 3 years, I will not increase any risk of future seizures by keeping him on this medicine. He was going to be taken off the QVAR and Ventolin entirely at the last clinic but he had a mucasy cough this winter that lasted for almost a month. The only reason we got any meds was of the "asthma" my son had in our old apt(black mold etc.) but since we moved from that suite over 14 months ago we haven't had any problems. Thankyou all for your posts on this drug, I would never have known anything than just what warns us on the little side effects paper in the box.

My psychiatrist has me on two 20mg Adderall everyday. He just added Remeron to my cycle and it ruined everything! It's hard to find something for anxiety/depression that works with the Adderall well. I've tried everything but this one scares me. SSRIs and SNRIs usually make my head tingle, more anxious than usual, and unpredictable mood-wise. After starting Remeron for about a week, I had a massive strange hours long panic attack. I tried to slit my ankle, screamed and yelled things at everyone I came into contact with, walked off down the street three separate times (three diff. people had to come find me every time). My skin felt "creepy-crawly" and I was SO angry and couldn't get away from the anger. I'm still waiting on the Dr. to call me but I told his secretary I just am NOT taking it. I'll take the nerves, shakiness, and sweatiness ANY DAY over feeling crazy like that. Angry and wanting to die.. not for me.
