I was prescribed doxycycline for an infection in my testicles. After 5 days of taking 2 pills a day, the pain was diminishing and I was feeling better. However, I never took the pills with food, always took on an empty stomach. Everything was OK for those first 5 days. It was the 10th pill I took that I felt bad pain in my stomach and lower esophagus, a burning pain just below my rib cage. I could not hardly eat as the pain was so bad as food reached the end of my esophagus. I have stopped taking the pill and 4 days later each time I eat food as it passes through my esophagus and enters my stomach, I still experience bad pain. Its funny because there is no pain until food has traveled a good ways down.. It feels like doxycline has burned that connection of the esophagus with the stomach. I

Oops, I am new to posting, although I have been reading this sight since January 06. I felt a tremendous sense of relief when I found it, because I thought I was losing my mind only into the second pill pack! I quit the same night I read the posts. Thank you so much for your shared experiences. I have been off since Jan. and feel much better, but still have difficulty sleeping and some chest sensations like heaviness. But, there seems to be hope. I have called Berlex and the FDA, and enourage others to report negative experiences. This just cannot be a coincidence.

I was prescribed levaquin six days ago for a chest cold and sinus infection. Fatigue was noticeable after two days, and I skipped my work-out class on day three; just feeling sluggish, achy. On day four, I used my leaf blower for 90 minutes to clean a community pavillion that Storm Isabel had covered with sand from our river; lots of twisting and turning and sweeping, too, to get it in shape for our kid's Halloween Parade and party yesterday, Saturday. By last night, my left knee had swollen noticeably, was stiff, very uncomfortable (I've had no prior problems with that knee). By this morning, my left hand felt 'needles and pins-ish' and uncomfortable,
stiff; my knee was worse. I'll ask my doc and stop the drug now......thanks for all the shared experiences.

Wow. All of these shared experiences are so very similar to mine. I wish I had worked on researching this BC method more before I agreed to the insertion. I began my Mirena journey in the fall of '06 at 30 years old. Since that time I've had more Crohn's flare ups than I have since I was diagnosed at 11. I've also experienced all of the same symptoms that have been previously listed: severe headaches, weight gain, moodiness, uterine pain, back pain, fatigue. Most of these symptoms occur during my period and have grown progressively worse in the past 4 months. I never made a connection until the past few days and had a gut instinct that my progressive weight gain and the Mirena had a connection. I work out 5-6 times a week for an hour and eat very healthy cutting out sugar, snacks and carbs. I've made an appt for tomorrow to have my Mirena removed. I'm hoping that I can rid my body of all of the symptoms and find the healthy body that I once knew. :)
