I'm so glad I googled side effects of Yasmin and found this site. All of the sudden my mood swings for the past almost YEAR make sense. I started out fine. The pill was great, and I haven't had to worry about acne at all. Of course I gained a few pounds, but not too much. However, I'm a pre medical student trying to study for the MCAT this summer. I've been SO tired and drained and majorly depressed that I just can't seem to concentrate. I feel like I'm always crying over the stupidest stuff (AKA: no reason at ALL), and my grades are starting to suffer. Hopefully now that I've read this, I can stop taking this pill and see an improvement. It's just not worth the depression. I'm 22 right now, and until recently had never had a suicidal thought. I was starting to panic, because I couldn't identify the cause of my depression. I'm a good student, have lots of friends, and have the most amazing boyfriend and family. Life is good, I shouldn't feel this bad. Now that I have a clue as to what this may be, I can fix it.

My mother is aged 72 years old,she was unfortunately diagnosed with osteoporosis about 10 years ago, at the time her hospital was undertaking the FOSAMAX drug trial which unfortunelty she was asked if she would participate. She started the trial and was still taking the medication until about 8 months ago.

Around 18 months ago she started showing signs of the side effects but none of the doctors she saw would say if this drug was the cause of her presenting symptoms. These were inabilty to breath correctly, unable to swallow, on set of spasms in her throat and chest. She is now in hospital recovering from surgery which we all thought was going to be simply an hernia repair but I now fear that the long term taking of the drug has caused more serious damage than a straight forward hernia operation. She is after the 3rd day since surgery still mostly on bedrest, having morphine, intravenous antibiotics, not able to eat or drink, There is talk of her kidney being stuck to her stomach. This is a very serious matter for my mother. She was never ever seriously ill in her life until her diagnosis of osteoporosis, I really wish she had never been approached to take part in this trial.
I am at a loss for what to do within the field of medical research it seems no one wants to help or advise but just hope we bury our heads in the sand and not say an more. But this should be made clear to other women who are being asked to start on this treatment what could happen after a few years down the line.
Please could you help and give my mother advise.

MANY THANKS
CHRISTINE

I had a Kenalog shot for poison ivy..my Dr. never told me what I was getting or the side effects...it worked wonders for the poison ivy, but 2 weeks later on day 20 of my cycle I started spotting...and turned into lots more..I ended up going to my OBGYN and fortunately I took my bill of $110 along in to show her what I had been injected with. As soon as she saw Kenalog..she said that's what is doing all this ..I came home and found this website and I was shocked to see how similar my story is to many of these..I never would have taken this had I known the side effects..I am now still bleeding heavily after 18 days..will it never end? What have you done for relief? I feel sluggish all the time..no energy...and I have 4 children 12 and under to see after! Please if someone can help me...email me at ******. Thanks

I took Wellbutrin XL for two weeks. After a week and a half I felt very depressed-I was very lethargic and just didn't care about anything. I also wanted to die, which is NOT a symptom of my depression. So I decided to stop taking it. A few days later I started itching like crazy. I had had an allergic reaction to sulfameth earlier in the year and this was exactly like that. This time I didn't fool around with Benedryl and calamine lotion but made a drs appt for the next day. The morning of my appt when I woke up I was not only itching horribly, but had a deep red rash on different parts of my body that would disappear and reappear. My right hand was starting to swell and so was my right eye, just like an earlier poster. By the time I got to the doctor the rash had spread up my chest, over my neck. The nurse freaked out when she saw me! But the straw broke when I was in with the doctor--I had a seizure!!! I thought I had just passed out (which was frightening enough) but she said my eyes had rolled back in my head and I convulsed. I had to have a cat scan which came back fine but I am firmly convinced it was the Wellbutrin, and I was just lucky enough to be in the doctor's office at the time I seized. She had never seen the itching or rash with any of her other Wellbutrin patients, but my brother had experienced the same thing when he took it a few years ago for smoking cessation. If you are itching, go to a doctor immediately for relief! That was over a month ago and I still have occasional itching spells. You just never know how certain medicines will react to your body.

Started taking Lipitor in Sept. 05, six months later I am dizzy &/or disoriented, severe thigh & leg pain, numbness in my hands & legs, shoulder pain... nausea at times... drinking alcohol makes it much worse... thought I was having a heart attack one day... was taken to the emergency room... blood tests all night... then a stress test the next day... on my release papers the cardiologist who was assigned to me wrote on them in big capital letters "DO NOT TAKE ANY MORE LIPITOR"! I am off it two weeks now & am only slightly improved.... I still get all the symptoms... the doc said it could take months to clear up! & my regular doc tried to defend herself on prescribing it to me until she saw the hospital lab reports... I told her I will never take a statin again... I am pursuing natural healthy things now... we'll see how the labs are in two months.... it's been a very scary experience & still is... BTW... I am a 49 year old male.
