My daughter is 5 years old and has kidney disease. She started taking Lisinopril over a hear ago, 1mg/day to control proteinuera. About 10 weeks ago, they increased her dose to 2 mg/day to control her BP. This is the only med she takes. She seemed to be fine with the increased dosage. A week ago, she woke in the middle of night screaming that bugs were crawling on her. We thought she was having a bad dream but she was very coherent. She went to the bathroom, drank water, listened to a book and conversed with us. She was not at all unresponsive like kids are when having night terrors. Yet, she continued to see spiders and bees and was terrified for a couple hours. Our daughter does not take a pill, her med is compounded in a liquid and we thought the pharmacist might have mixed it improperly. We lowered her dose for three nights until the pharmacist could get us a new batch. She continued to wake up each night seeing bugs but her fear was not as great. She would still be up for a couple hours but she could force herself to think of other things and stop the hallucinations. She's extremely imaginative and my husband had recently taken her to see Bee Movie so we also wondered if she was just imagining these things. After getting the new bottle, she had a worse night. I should have called the pediatrician but I had a very busy day and didn't think of it. During the days my daughter was completely fine and happy. She had none of the reported side effects of Lisinopril. She could recount the events of the previous night and was beginning to worry about going to bed but she was her typical cheerful self. So, I gave her another dose of Lisinopril and that night was absolutely terrible for her and the rest of our family. She had severe hallucinations and thought bugs were everywhere and stinging her. For 40 minutes or so, it was impossible to redirect her attention. She was terrified even when our arms. It took about 3 hours, drinking lots of water, for her to calm down. I talked to our pediatrician again and he concurred that we should stop the Lisinopril. We did so and last night, she slept fine.

Help! My 86-year-old mother takes Lisinopril. She takes it in the morning and is very sluggish until around 4 p.m., when suddenly she snaps out of it and goes back to being normal. She has constant diarrhea and feels miserable most of the time. When we were in the hospital this past weekend, she was very sluggish - almost to the point of thinking she's got some kind of mental problem - when they took her BP around noon: it was 90/60. As the afternoon wore on, it rose to 120/70, then - around 4, sure enough, it was up to 140/80. She's not diabetic, so doesn't have to worry about her kidneys. She had a heart attack 7 years ago, and has slightly elevated BP. After reading some of these posts, I'm thinking her problem might be the Lisinopril. When we see her doctor Monday, I'm going to ask about it. I'll be armed with the comments on this web site, plus Internet discussions of Lisinopril side effects. I hope I can convince her doctor to put her on something else. Anyway, does this sound familiar to any of you?

I tried the NR for 3 months like my doctor told me to. She painted this pretty picture of how it was so easy, and that's the birth control she takes, blah, blah. After reading the other comments I see some of the same things I experienced. Like sleeplessness. I have not really seen any other comments of digestive problems, but I'm sure it's because of the ring. It seems like the week before I'm supposed to take the ring out
I begin having digestive issues, throwing up, diahrea, nausea, dizziness. Pregnant symptoms. I got off the ring and got on a low dose pill. I can't have digestive issues every month for a whole week. I would rather set my alarm and remember to take the pill everyday. Also, the ring cost $50 and the pill $15.

My 2 year old daughter was recently prescribed this medication. She has been having nightmares every night & I give it to her in the morning after breakfast. She will wake up screaming her head off & it often takes over an hour to get her calmed down enough to go back to sleep. But when she does go to sleep, she's out cold for several hours. She's also started hitting & being very violent. At first I thought it was because she couldn't tell us what she wanted, but its been getting worse & worse everyday that she takes Singulair. I guess, we will switch back to Zyrtec for her allergies.

My Mom is 57 years old was given Omnicef in November of 2006. She stopped taking it after she began bleeding and diareha within 4 days of taking this medication. Since then she has been in and out of the hosipital and even trips in an Ambulance from her legs swelling. She has had one doctor tell her that they believe it to be caused from the Omnicef. Now they have her on Pretizone because they think that it started Rhumetoid Arthiritis. She is on three other medications for this and she still is in pain when she walks. It takes her over an hour to get out of bed in the morning and for the swelling in the ankles and legs to go down after she takes the medication. The doctors seem to be doing a lot of guess work right now. I would like to find her a new doctor at the Cleveland Clinic but since the doctor's are unsure of what is wrong with her, I have no idead what type of specialist I need to contact to get her an appointment.

My daughter has been on Singulair since February of this year. She takes it for her severe allergies. She had a nasal cauterization two years ago and last year noticed she was experiencing swelling again in her nasal passages. Singulair helped with the swelling and stuffiness. However, she also started having an increase in her migraine headaches. (I've just read that Singulair is being prescribed to "help" with migraines.) Also, during the last few months, she's had a general "not well" feeling. She's also been experiencing flushing of her face, arms, and hands. She is also hot all the time.
The only information I could find on the side effects were a rash. She doesn't itch.
We had decided last night for her to go off Singulair, and after reading all the problems others have experienced, I know we're making the right decision.

I have a 9 year old daughter that was sick on a monthly basis since she started school. We did the round of antibotics every month. Finally we went the route of having the tonsils out. That didn't seem to help the constant throat ,sinus drainage and constant barking coughing. Then we went through allergy testing discovered that she has no food allergies, but had a lot of environmental allergies and exercise induced asthma. The doctor prescribed Singulair in Feb of 06. My daughter has not been sick since. She has not been to the Doctor since Feb of 06. The cough has disappeared as well as the constant throat drainage. The medication has helped her symtoms, but now I am concerned as to what I am reading on this forum. She has not compalined about nightmares,or hallunications, but she has changed in her behavior some. She has become so confrontational with us. She at times does not have appropraite reactions to situations. She becomes easily angered and upset. She is a straight A student and has no problems with her behavior at school. Was recommended for the Excel program for gifted students. She does complain about joint discomfort l. She takes 5mg every day. I was wondering what mgs that others are taking that would cause all these horrible side effects? I am really scared to hear about the seizures. Of course her Doctor told us that the side effects were near to nothing almost like candy as he described it. I am worried about long term side effects. I did cut her dosage back to half during the summer months and she was fine.

Hi all: My wife has been having problems for about a year and when we started talking about them with our counselor, I realized that the problems began the same time she started taking Topamax.
She takes 100mg a day, (4, 25mg pills every night before bed)
Thinking back and thinking currently, she has had memory problems, problems holding objects, NO SEX drive, has had problems thinking clearly, moody and is mad at me a lot. This has all lead to problems in our marriage.
I'm trying to see if these side effects are common!
I have read some posting from others that show some or all of these sypmtoms occurring in themselves or their loved ones.
I love my wife greatly and have mentioned not taking these pills anymore, but she has resisted. I'm hopeful with some research and some more first hand accounts, that I can convince her to give this a try and possibly save our marriage.
Thanks to any and all who can help.

My now 4 year old daughter has been on the drug, 4mg chewable tablets for children since April 2005. We did not see any personality side effects. The only two things we have noticed is that she started wetting the bed at night. She was dry at night before the drug. And just recently, after 8 months of use she is complaining of tummy aches without any other symptoms. She doesn't feel like she is going to throw up or has cold symptoms, just a tummy ache. We were called by the preschool yesterday to bring her home due to this. She has been complaining off and on of a tummy ache for over a week with no other symptoms, no fever.
We are taking her off of Singulair after reading all the posts in this forum. She takes no other medications.
I'll post back my results to see if her side effects clear up.

My mother is 88 and has taken Ambien 10mg for many years on a nightly basis. She takes it right as she lies down to sleep and usually goes right to sleep. However, if I call her on the phone after she has taken the pill, she will not remember talking to me and has sometimes just dropped the phone on the floor where it stays until she finds it in the morning. I worry because she lives alone, but she insists that she will not give it up. She is old enough that I think she should have whatever helps her, but I do wonder at times if some of her health problems are caused or worsened by the Ambien.

by maria's husband. Doctor has told her to exercise, I have told her to exercise. She has walked a little less than a mile once and has felt better. Other times fresh air makes her feel better but has to be around 30 minutes, yet she refuses to exercise with me. I bought an indoor exercise stepper machine to exercise her legs I have frustration 'cause have trouble with her talking to me, discussing her illness and other matters. She takes most everything I say in a negative light, misunderstands my intentions, questions my motives, etc. Communication with her is extremely difficult for me. I try to help her but her mood, bodylanguage, etc. indicate to me that she does not want my help. Yet, she wants all the privileges. She doesn't recognize that I try to help her and at times vehemently chastises me about it (this always in a passive manner). Her tone is soft and gentle but she uses cutting words. Three sons, one daughter and I read the Bible, memory verses, go to church, but she refuses all these. Married 15 years, gone to church with me/us less times than that. (RE: Two older boys from previous marriage: No TLC for them by maria. I feel really bad for them. She very despondent with them.) They've always defended/protected/stood up for her when I'd get upset over her behavior with me; but now that they're older they don't want anything with her but they still defend her. She says because of her depression. Apathetic in bed, No feeling. Sometimes I don't think so. I have a hard time getting her to even keep me company for more than a few minutes. Five minutes at a time would be excellent for me. I feel unloved, unwanted, by her. She says she feels the same. I feel at the end of my rope. I wonder if I have depression. So much more to say. Thanks for this escape valve. HELP!

I'm sorry if this is more of a question than a list of side effects, but I am a desperate mother. My 13 year old and her 15 year old sister were both given Advair to start on Monday as a third attempt to treat a severe cough. The 13 year old has been sick ever since, vomiting and headache. It seems to worsen after she takes the Advair, although I didn't realize it until she became sick this morning and missed school for the second day in a row. My other daughter isn't having any problems. After looking up side effects and finding this page, I am sure it's the Advair that's making her so sick, and it scares me!
What do you think? I didn't see any references to anyone vomiting, but I don't know what else it could be.

Hi my mother-in-law has been taking Ultracet for quite some time now for a disc disorder. She also take neurontin. Anyway, she has been having chest pains and heart palpitations. The palpitiations can be seen on an EKG but it doesn't mean anything bad. She is having a hard time sleeping because of this pain. She has had ever test possible for heart and an MRI of her abdominal region. Everything came back fine. So I started reading about her meds and found out that Ultracet can cause chest pains. I was wondering if anyone has had this same experience, chest pains. She doesn't take her meds like she should. So could her taking the Ultracet for such a long period and then she takes one, it wears off, could that cause her chest pain? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My daughter has been on Singulair 2 times now. The first time my husband & I thought it was wonderful - she was a little over a year and just stayed sick throughout the winter, once on Singulair she didn't get sick again. So they next year around the same time, the Dr. gave us another prescription to take throughout the winter, to prevent getting sick. My now 2 year old has been on Singulair for a month and this past week she has been evil! She WILL NOT listen, she is extra hyper, doesn't eat as well as she used to and has pretty much done away with taking naps. She used to be wonderful at school, but now the teachers are even complaining she wont listen, or sit still, she takes whatever she wants no matter what friend is playing with it. She is not phased with spankings or time out. My 2 year old was sent to the Day Care office because she wouldn't listen or be still. I was so embarrassed. It has gotten to the point at home that spanking hurts our hands worse than it does her. I am so frustrated, however after reading this, I think we are going to take her off the medicine and see if her behavior and appetite return to normal. I am pregnant with our second child and don't have the energy to keep up with her. She has always been a hyper child, but her behavior she would listen. She has just gotten out of control. I feel like those people that should be on the TV show where someone comes into your house and teaches you how to discipline your child.
