i am a very healthy 55 year old who dances salsa 4-5 times a week, skis 4-5 mornings per week and works out at gym with wight 4-5 mornings. i developed a possible case of pneumonia and was prescribed avalox for 5 days (at $90.00 dollars no less) on the 3rd day i woke up ,and felt heel pain in my left heel and attributed it to0 a nerw pair of shoes i used for dancing. upon rubbing my heel and noticing NO callous or rubbed area i stood uo do experience sharp pain in my achilles tendon area. later on that same day i noticed my left shoulder area(rotator) seemed sore and did not make any connection since i use left arm to spin salsa partners. that same morning while drinking coffee at breakfast I read the sheets given to me by the HMO pharmacy to discover to my ALARM the side effect for people my age "possible torn achiiles tendon" as well as other tendon issues. alarmed i stopped to meds and called the PA who prescribed them.meantime i was on my way to Mexico and put on zithromax instead and upon coming home 10days later off of marvelox i still have extreme heel pain and discomfort in tendon areas . i finally went to see a doctor 3 days ago and upon telling him of these symptoms he told me there was "not a definite connection"....i proceed ed to almost start screaming and told him "not top talk to me like a stupid FU---ng 21 year old. i know my body and I HAVE BEEN VIOLATED AND when i confronted the head of pharmacy at the clinic she informed me thast on the computer Avelox was"blacklisted" for these side effects and it was posted on the system. when asked if this was permanent symptoms she did not know for sure and I informed them that I expected a call from their pharmD to discuss these symptoms, history, effects and possible remedies. i've been screwed and SOMEBODY will pay for abusing me!!

Can anyone tell me if you can just stop Lipitor cold turkey or do you have to stop it slowly? I have been taking Lipitor for 5 years now and I have been trying to find out what is causing my leg weakness. I mentioned it to my doctor who said it si just a fact of getting older. The problem is getting worse and I noticed it started about 3 months after taking the Lipitor and has steadily gotten worse. I am 49 years old a little over weight {which I am working on}. I also noticed my asthma which I haven't delt with since a small child has come back. This may or may not have to do with the Lipitor but the pain in my knees and legs I believe do. It really hurts in the joints of my legs and sometimes in my shoulder area.

I have been taking Lisinopril 10 mg for over 3 years to regulate my BP. That is just fine. However over the last 3 months I have developed a pain in my left shoulder and rotater cup. I am going to chalk this up to a change in the brand of Lisinopril since I had no issues before changing to the 90 day supply for $10.00 vs what I was getting before. Looks like I might have gotten more than I bargained for.
The pills I have right now have the RX 533 on one side.

recently developed under skin "rash",from ankle and upward on legs, my dr. is now doing blood work for ecchymosis petechiae, I am curious if anyone has this experience while using Fosamax D 70 mg. I am in good health and it is possible that this symptom is not at all related to Fosamax, which by the way I have stopped now for a while and probably won't go back. Stopped due to severe ache/pain in shoulder area and lower, so bad it was difficult to walk properly. Since stopping it I am walking straighter and no ache/pain. Even though my latest bone scan showed my osteopenia was better, I am off the drug on my own.

Don't think there is anywhere else to put this. Please someone else tell me you know what I am talking about and that I am not crazy! After two years of doctors treating me for muscle issues in my left neck/shoulder area someone finally realized I MRI images were not clear and ordered another. I have Mild Degenerative Disc Disease and three bulgin/herniated discs. C-6, C-7 and T1 (I believe). Anyway, prescribed Predisone and immediately had severe lower back pain. It was almost like back labor or the worst menstrual cycle ever. I stopped taking it for two days, lower back pain went away. I tried taking it again and the same thing happened si I stopped again. Theb I received a total of seven trigger point injections. All but one caused the same awful lower back pain, but went away after a day. I just had my second cervical epidural injection. The first one had the same painful side effects, but again went away after a day. The second one whick I had Monday, September 9, 2008 was the worst yet! Not only did I have excruciating lower back pain but it also moved around to my lower abdomen. Oh gosh labor all over again, but without being pregnant. I have three children so I know what it feels like. I have tried everything including: Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Acetametifen, heat, moist heat, ice packs, hot baths. Pain Specialist doesn't prescribe enough pain meds to make the pan tolerable. So I end up running out 2-3 days early so I can't ask for more. has anyone ever has this side effect form steroids? I so, do you have any other suggestions. Please help, one more injection to go and can't take the pain anymore. My kids need me!

Wow, this is so scary! My boyfriend, incredibly strong and physically fit was put on the antibiotic for a UTI and has used the antibiotic maybe 5 or 6 times over the past couple years. He noticed severe pain in his feet and went to his family doctor as well as an Orthopedic doctor, neither came to the conclusion that this drug was his problem. We just found all of this information that has answered so many questions as his tendons have been torn in both feet for quite a while now with no explanation. Does anyone know....IS THERE PERMANENT???? He is also having soreness in his biceps as well as in his shoulder area? He just stopped taking the drug and any information would be great! I believe that everyone should get together and sue these drug companies...this shocks me!

I was prescribed 750 mg. Levaquin, one a day for 14 days for a severe sinus infection. We left to visit my son and family in Texas two days after starting the medicine. The entire time we were there I could not sleep. The second day we were there I was walking down the stairs when a pain hit me in my left calf that was so bad I thought I had surely torn a muscle or something worse. It continued to be painful for several days. We returned in four days and I noticed that I was aching all over. I have arthritis and some other problems, so didn't think too much about it. However, it continued to get much worse. My feet hurt so badly that I could hardly bear to walk. My heels are especially painful. I cannot bend my toes without terrible pain and my feet have been swollen. I have sharp tingling pain in my toes as well. My hips and knees are very painful. I am shuffling around just trying to walk and get up and down. I started having a strange pain in my right shoulder area. Am still having insomnia. This is very scary and after reading all the posts it is even more frightening since you don't know what to expect even further down the road. I have an appointment in the morning with a neurologist. I don't know what they can do and I don't want to be put on a bunch of other drugs. I just hope he acknowledges that the Leviquan caused this and doesn't try to come up with some excuse. I have absolutely no doubt the Leviquan caused this as it was immediate and continued to get worse as I took it. I stopped after 11 days and only wish I had stopped sooner, but you just keep making excuses for the weird things that are happening until you finally realize there is something very wrong. I have experienced a lot of pain in my life, but nothing like this. My brother has acute leukemia and has horrible neuropathy in his hands/arms, feet/legs caused by a clinical trial with two chemotherapy drugs. Now I am afraid I may have it in my feet, or something as bad. If the doctor has anything worth reporting I will let you know. Good luck to everyone and thanks for listening.

This is an update from my first posting earlier this year. I still have localized pain in my neck and shoulder area sometimes extending down my arms to my fingertips. I am 58 years old and stopped taking Lipitor 5 months ago. I am always in discomfort but the very severe pain comes in waves at least 3-4 times a month and lasts for about 1-2 days. I have noticed an improvement since stopping Lipitor but my cholesterol count is on its way up so I am trying to control that. Not an easy task but at least I am not totally debilitated as I was in January and February. I am totally off all meds and vitamins as of this writing. I am trying to cleanse myself and start over with diet and exercise. Hang tough ... this is definitely the battle of your life!!! KooKoo

Hi,
I have been on Warfarin since 2002. I suffered multiple pulmonary embolism's in both lungs. My first was in May 2002 and even though I had excruciating pain in my left shoulder area & could not lay down as this worsened the pain, the NHS x-rayed my torso!!!! & sent me home with medication for a kidney infection. I gave it a few weeks but the pain did not go completely & was moving to my right side, I was coughing up 'tablespoon' size clots of blood. My GP was not happy & spoke to a colleague at the hospital. I was sent straight in,(July) thorough tests done & I was found to have suffered multiple PE's.
I tried to sue them for medical negligence but it was turned away by the court as there was not enough evidence on my notes ie; some info was not written down & most was unreadable to even other medical professionals.
Since Aug 2002 I have been on Warfarin & am on this for life.
A blood test showed that I had a genetic blood disorder called 'Factor V (5) Leiden heterozygote'. This causes my blood to form clots much easier & quicker than the average person. If you have this disorder, as a woman it is important that each time you have a child you are treated with Heperin after each birth. I had 5 children & was not treated therefore I suffered with my PE's.My children have been tested for this & 3 of them have it. My daughter was glad she found out before having children as she hasn't had to suffer what I went through.
I ask one thing.... Please TELL your GP that you want a test for the above disorder. As I suffered my PE's & that I have this blood disorder I have to stay on Warfarin for life.
If you need any more info I will tell you as much as I know. Feel free to ask questions. my email is; ******

After about 1/2 hour of using Flonase for the first time, I felt a burning or tearing-type feeling in my left chest more toward the shoulder area. Then after a couple of days use I felt an irritation in the shoulder joint and this subsequently traveled to my rib cage. After about a week's worth of use, I felt a burning-like sensation in a small area on my lateral lower leg. I stopped using the Flonase and after about 4 days, the sensations subsided.

I took Flexeril for a couple of days for muscle spasms in my neck and shoulder area. It was very effective at first. Then one day I went to stand up and my knees went week and I couldn't stand for a couple of moments. After 10 minutes I was fine, I called my doctor and he told me to stop taking it. I went for physical therapy and that worked very well. This was 10 years ago but I still remember the name of the drug. I don't know what caused that one reaction.

I have been on Lipitor ( 10mg) for 4 years-side effects are terrible. I have loss of hair, major pain in shoulder area-and in left arm.
Loss of feeling in feet has progressed from the toe area to the middle foot. Eye sight is affected-vision dims at times. Short term memory loss is increasing, loss of sleep at night due to pain in shoulders. I can not hold my arms above my head for any length of time. I also loss my balance 2-3 times per week for no apparent reason.
Costipation is a continuing problem-I must take a stool softner daily to over come that effect.
I have also experienced small red blister like sores (?) on my arms from time to time. Pain is so severe in shoulders the past few days that standard pain killers ( aspirin, tylenol. Aleve ) do not help. Effective in the morning I'm taking myself off this terrible drug.

I first experienced severe muscle cramping in the neck and right shoulder area for which I found no relief. Then after being on prednisone for about 3 days, I awoke in the morning to find my right arm, which normally has some residual paresis from polio, totally paralysed. My arm was totally limp. There was no innervation to the muscles until one week after being weaned from the drug. First, the pain in my shoulder and neck subsided. Then there began a gradual return of innervation to the muscles in my right hand and arm. I now have the same functioning in my right hand and arm as I did per-prednisone. I will never take this drug again. It caused a lot of pain, and it took me a long time to rehab my right hand and arm to their norm.

My 15 year old daughter has been complaining of a burning feeling in her back/shoulder area (on and off for a year). Was wondering if anyone else had these symptoms after getting the Gardasil shot?
