I'm 51 and in good shape. I ran 60+ miles in Dec, a PR 5K and then started Lisinopril in late January. Since then I have been fatigued and wiped out after running - no longer get the runner's high at all. Two weeks ago I ran 6 miles and couldn't get out of bed for two days. Family doc said quit the stuff. That was 6 days ago - ran 3 today and was pretty wiped - also seen a pick up in anxiety. Any advice? How long does this stuff take to clear your system? When can expect my stamina to return? Thanks.

For optic neuritis, and arm and shoulder pain: I had a combo of 3 days of Solu-Medrol infusion (steroid via IV) and then went on the following regimen of Prednisone: 5 days 60 mg; 3 days 40 mg; 2 days 20 mg.
Side effects have been terrible with the WORSE CASE OF FACIAL ACNE I have ever had. I'm 28 - I have my 10th high school reunion, weddings, and more -- and it may sound vain, but if you saw this acne (hundreds of tiny pimples all over my cheeks; sides; chin; and upper neck) you'd feel my pain. Also, got shoulder, arm, back, and chest acne -- which I can take b/c I can find ways to cover that up. But face! It's terrible. I'm using Pro-Activ and see minimal improvement. The #2 problem has been SEVERE heartburn during the tapering off phase. I have never felt that much pain and it only went away after I completely went off the drug - I treated this with ginger drink (a hot tea sold in international food stores) and Pepcid AC. Also, due to my original symptoms I can do virtually no exercise when I used to exercise 6 days/week. I'm really worried about weight gain which I already see in my arms and face. My appetite has been through the roof. Irritability was the worst but I forewarned my family. My original symptoms have greatly improved, but I'd honestly rather fight through that original pain than endure the craziness that is prednisone.

I have taken Lipitor for 4 years. Two months ago, my walk became off balance. Soon after I began to have sever muscle aches and weakness. I have low back and hip pain, upper shoulder & arm weakness and difficulty holding a pencil. I have been walking with a cane and sometimes need a walker. I have been unable to work for the last 6 weeks. My doctor continues to say it is not the lipitor because side effects happen within the first few months. Only after finding this website am I convinced this is the problem. I took myself off lipitor 6 weeks ago and have had some improvement, but have a long way to go. Is there anything I can do to reverse any of these problems?

I have been on Toprol XL for approximately 2 years. I started out on 25 mg. for palpations and rapid heart. Then the dosage was increased to 50 mg. and now the doctor wants me to take 100 mg. I have freezing hands and feet. My eyes are either so dry or watery so that I cannot hardly see. I have at times terrible shoulder, arm and leg pain. My brain feels likes it's full of goo. I can't think.
I am currently wearing a King of Hearts monitor. I have sent approximately 15 transmissions. During the transmissions I can hear my heart speeding up. The technician who takes my transmissions keeps telling me that my heart is beating normally. If that is the case, then I must ask my cardiologist at my next appointment, why am I taking Toprol and spending $35 a month for the medication if my heart is normal? By the way I am NOT increasing my dosage to 100 mg. I will stick with the 50 mg. for now and am considering tapering off even more.

November 2005-- prescribed Levaquin 500mg for pneumonia. around the 6th day I was having severe shoulder/arm pain. It became so severe that I could not even lift my arms. I was taken back to the Dr. and then prescribed Prednisone for the pain. The pain in the left arm gradually subsided. About a month later, I went back to the Dr. because of the pain. I was then given Etodolac. I have since then gone back because I still cannot lift my right arm. I was given yet another prescription which I have not yet filled. I was so trilled to see this website At least I know that I am not crazy. It is March 2006 and I am still in severe pain.

After taking 10mg 3x week (no problems) my doctor asked me to take it daily. I did from 11/1/05 through 12/05/05 and began having neck stiffness/shoulder/arm/elbow/wrists/hand/hip pain so severe that I could not sleep in my bed - could not use my arms. The pain was the worst I have ever had. My primary sent me to a Rheumatologist who said (after 6 vials blood/11 x-rays of hands/shoulders) that I had polymyalgiarheumatica. I had taken Prednisone before (years ago) and it caused me to become greatly agitated. She asked me to try 1-5mg pill for 5 days and then go to 2-5mg pills. Tomorrow is my third dose of 2 pills and thus far I am doing fine. Pain has alleviated somewhat but nothing to write home about. COULD LIPITOR HAVE BROUGHT ON THIS PROBLEM? My gut tells me yes - primary said: "Maybe." What do you say?
Thank you.

On top of the pain in my knees, shoulder, arm, hand, and waking-up rather foggy minded, I just started experiencing bluriness in my left eye and terrible pains in my buttocks. The pain seems to be more noticeable on the right side of my butt. It feels like I've been tortured with one of those exercise machines for firming your butt. I can't hardly walk and I almost used one of those electric carts at the grocery store this afternoon, but my pride wouldn't let me.

I have been taking Eltroxin for over 8 years due to treatment for Hodgkins Disease (cancer of the Lymph nodes, glands) the side effects I have noticed are headaches, blurred vision, lack of energy, sore joints especially knees, weight fluctuations, stomach cramps, heart rhythm increase, numbness in my left shoulder & arm and sometimes my little finger on my left hand is completely numb, sleep irregularity, night sweats. I cant seem to find any specialist who will listen to me. I have stopped taking them from time to time and most of the symptoms disappear but my metabolism slows down so much that I have no alternative but to resume taking them.
